Sekath's Territory - Sekath's Palace - Boss Battle - TURN 9 (ENEMY)
Thelyra attempts to absorb Seriphine's life force (True Succubus.) D6 used. Chance Roll = 3. Chance failed.

---
Now the group could turn their full attention on Thelyra, as the sounds of combat elsewhere in the palace grew louder. As Takato managed to heal himself, stepping away from the battle for a brief moment, Loque and Henderson both rushed Thelyra in an attempt to take her down and bite her. Sadly, both failed as Thelyra simply drifted back and forth to avoid their lunges. She laughed again, but her laughter was cut short when a massive fireball from Senya hit her and sent her sailing through the air. She righted herself, patting out the flames on her outfit and throwing out curses in her original native tongue. Then Inari's shotgun slungs impacted her shoulder and thigh. She groaned in pain, just as Wesley's kunai hit her already damaged horn. It made her head jerk a bit, but did little damage. Seriphine darted in, jumping and sweeping her blades like a pair of scissors, aiming for the taskmaster's neck. She would fall just short of her neck, though, as Thelyra rose a bit. The blades cut a deep gash across her back, in an X shape, which made Thelyra recoil forwards in pain. Right into Gwen's shot. She fired, and the bullet ripped through Thelyra's already scalded and bleeding torso. Vincent followed up with his own shots, which hammered Thelyra a bit harder due to their lower velocity. Finally, Kassidy darted through the members of the group, and used Henderson's recovering form as a launch pad. She sailed through the air, and planted a dropkick square in Thelyra's chest, knocking her out of the air and into the floor below. She hit hard, and Kassidy planted several shots into the taskmaster as she fell to the floor herself.

Thelyra soon rose back up again, furious. She turned about and targeted Seriphine, holding her hand out towards her just as she had done Gwen. But it seemed that she was growing weak. She couldn't absorb anything from Seriphine at the moment. She soon spat more curses, and looked angrily back to the others.

"AH! FUCK IT!" screams Loque in frustration. If she can't hit her where it matters most with her teeth or her axe, her rifle will just have to do. Hopefully her hands are steady enough to aim it properly in spite of being consumed by an unstable mixture of rage and terror. As soon as her sights match on her "weak spot", she squeezes the trigger.

Following his self-heal, Takato considered floating up to face Thelyra, as he had considered prior. However, as he observed the rapid succession of attacks, he found it wouldn't be that necessary, as the taskmaster was fell to the ground, now merely standing and cursing the group.

Considering the actions of the others first, he decided to float only slightly off the ground, as to make himself move in faster, and charged at Thelyra to face her down with his dragon style.

Thelyra was running out of energy as she became desperate by the minute. Senya gave a confident nod, and gave an uppercut fireball across the room, hoping it can land a hit on the Taskmaster.

Just a few more hits, Senya thought, eyes narrowed. However, even if they killed her they still weren't in the clear within this palace. The guards around the place will most likely swarm them if they didn't finish this quick.

Inari popped open the shotgun's rear breach to pull out the smoking shells. She didn't realize how hot they could get and she hissed a little as she just dumped them unceremoniously on the ground. Two more slug rounds were slotted in and the gun was closed back up with a loud snap. However, with Thelyra on the ground, Inari slung the shotgun back over her pack and returned her hands to her spirit sword. Now she could fight the way she wanted.

With an excited howl - partial battle-cry, partial warning to those around her that she was charging in - Inari rushed for the succubus to carve the woman up when there was space to press the attack.

Wesley threw another Kunai directly towards Thelyra's head, hoping it would enough to bring her down.

Seriphine couldn't help herself and as Thelyra failed with her vile sorcery the elven warlord looked incredibly smug. She returned the gesture by throwing one of her daggers at the taskmaster.

Gwen rolled her eyes, standing up, finally. Wow, whatever magic that was really knocked the wind out of her sails. There was just a moment of wooziness, before she shook it away. Gwen could see the glint of something on the ground. Black, long, hard-- probably a horn from her. Gwen's posture stiffened up, and she took aim again, blasting yet another round towards the succubus's face.

"[Ugh. Can't you die already?]"

---
The group made their final efforts to eliminate Thelyra, as the fighting continued outside. Loque fired off her shot, aiming for Thelyra's crotch. The shot connected, impacting the plate of metal that Thelyra was wearing over her private areas. She hunched over for a brief moment, clutching at it, before Takato rushed in and delivered a one-two blow to Thelyra that sent her stumbling. Senya's fireball connected as Takato moved back, knocking Thelyra into the air for a brief moment. Inari struck quickly, hopping and arcing her sword down across Thelyra's midsection. The gash was deep, but not deep enough. As Thelyra hit the floor, Henderson snatched her up and took a bite out of her arm. She yelled out in pain, eventually shoving him away as he ripped a chunk out of her right arm. Wesley's kunai struck true, hitting Thelyra in her other shoulder and embedding itself. As she was distracted by it, Seriphine hit her with one of her own daggers. It stabbed into her back, which resulted in her clutching at it.

"[YOU BASTARDS! NONE OF YOU ARE WORTHY ENOUGH TO SLAY ME!]" she barked, finally grabbing the dagger and kunai. She slung them on the floor, and the pink flames engulfing her form seemed to glow brighter. "[I'D RATHER KILL MYSELF THAN LET ANY OF YOU TOUCH ME AG--]" she managed to get out, before her words were cut short by a gunshot.

A bullet nailed her right between the eyes, tearing through and practically bursting the taskmaster's head into numerous pieces. She dropped a moment later, the upper half of her head missing. Gwen's gunshot had struck true. Thelyra was dead.

Takato began shifting his posture, preparing to engage with incantations to stop Thelyra from doing anything rash with those pink flames engulfing her, before things suddenly went quiet. The upper half of Thelyra's head had been torn open by a gunshot. He grimaced upon the sight, but simultaneously relaxed his posture. The battle had been won, after all.

He got back onto the ground, looking over to the source of the gunfire - Gwen, the late (re-)joining party in this fight. He wondered what she had to say now.

Inari held her sword high, ready to swoop in for another strike, one that would hopefully be the killing blow to the back of her neck. A simple beheading maneuver. Instead, a rifle cracked and the back of Thelyra's head blew out, the succubus quickly dropping lifeless to the floor.

"Oh! She dead now!" Inari said with mild surprise, sword still raised, but she relaxed a little as she glanced around the room. There were no more immediate threats in the vicinity. "Ah, too quick! Too easy. Snap! And dead," she said, wandering around towards the body and glancing at the head. She hadn't earned this one, sadly, but you couldn't get them all. "Very mess. Hard to carry. Horn cut, hair twisted. Very, very mess."

She sighted down Gwen who had made the killing shot and she sauntered towards the woman, giving he a hardly pat on the shoulder. "Is good shooting! Small target and you hit. Happy you come back to fight! Here." Inari removed her tanto from her sash and stuffed it into Gwen's hands. "Can cut head with this, you earn it well. I be back in short time," she said, then turning towards the guards she had killed. Inari stabbed the spirit blade, Kioshi, into one of the corpses and removed her remaining sword. The wakizashi. She rarely used it for cutting heads since the tanto did that job, but she could use anything. While Kioshi supped upon the blood of the dead, Inari masterfully lopped away the heads of the guards she had killed until she had several collected, which she put into a neat, little pile on the ground beside the first corpse that was growing thin and pale from Kioshi drinking away the blood. She returned both swords to her scabbards and walked back over towards Gwen to see if the woman had collected the Taskmaster's head yet.

Something caught her eye on the ground and she noticed one of the demon's horns laying there where it had fallen. She stooped and snatched it up, looking it over, testing the point and even biting it. "Nice horn. Big," she observed; then, chuckling to herself, she held it out at crotch level in a phallic gesture. "Ah, but maybe not big enough! I can make bigger," she said with a cackling, throaty wheeze. Her laugh with her natural voice was always dirty and husky. Inari tossed the horn away towards the pile of heads and glanced around again.

"Now, where fuck go the pretty ones? They run where? Come out!" She called. "Come out or I find you!"

Finally, that deplorable bitch is fucking dead, and to think it was another elf that killed her. Though as Thelyra now lays on the floor half-headless and bleeding, the fight doesn't feel over, especially not for Loque as she's still trembling and waving her rifle around the room in search of any other potential threats that may be lurking nearby. Killing Thelyra didn't make her feel good at all; she's still having a panic attack. Weakened by stress, her knees give way, making her drop her rifle and fall to the floor on all fours. Another stream of puke comes out from her mouth and onto the ground as she tries controlling her ceaseless shaking.

"Fuck... f-fuck..." she stutters out.

Senya walked towards the corpse of Thelyra, the upper part of her head blown apart by one of Gwen's shots. The fight is over, with many injuries sustained and the Warden tired. She disengaged her defensive stance and placed her shield back. It was a good team effort and Senya felt the need to say something out of the scene. But she soon turned to Seriphine, who made a bold early charge that could have gotten several of them killed. For now she had to talk to her later. Senya also saw Loque puking her guts out, still shaking.

The Warden walked towards Gwen who arrived just in time to fight the Taskmaster, it felt a while both of them spoke to each other and so Senya greeted her again.

"Queen Gwenaelle." Senya bowed down respectfully.

In one swift pull of the trigger, Gwen had popped the skull of quite the old... she'd loathe to say friend. Acquaintance. It felt kind of... good, to get all of that intrapolitical drama out in a bout. Satisfying. Perhaps it had just been building up for so many years at that point. In any case, Gwen was making her way over to the body, and the crowd around it, when this-- this thing burst from the side of her vision, looking more than just a little beat up. "Wh--" ...The speech, however, is what gave it away to her. Only one person-- or, well. Technically two, but Takato's not a female, talked like this. This is what Inari was? Frankly, Gwen couldn't blame her for staying in that other form. She'd have said that she looked like shit, but with someone in the mental condition of Inari, that would be quite the ill-advised move. Or, for all she knew, it could've been someone else entirely. Another demon, but considering how it said it's glad to see her, she has a fair bet it's the other warlord.

She gripped the blade by its hilt, not responding save for a curt nod, and a polite smile, whilst Inari passed on to the rest of the guards, and Gwen turned her head to those actions. "...Barbarian." She muttered beneath her breath, tunnel-visioning towards the still warm body on the floor, pushing past everyone, and standing over the corpse. Simply, just observing it. Looking. It was a full minute before she finally squatted down over Thelyra. "[...I can only hope that whatever vestiges of your soul that are left spend an eternity burning, whore.]" She was talking... to the corpse. She had briefly considered, in her hatred, to scalp the succubus. Take her horn as a trophy to mount. But, she relented. Some things simply are better left to be forgotten. There was one thing she did with the blade she'd been granted, however. Drive it straight through Thelyra's chest in a swift stab, twisting it around. With a demon of this power, she figured it'd be better safe than sorry.

"Queen Gwenaelle." The voice next to her snapped her out of her stupor, the queen jolted to her feet. The title, queen, prompted her gaze back towards Thelyra. Then, around the rest of the room to see however many of the others here were also elven. Too many. And this would've been her fate, too. Languishing in a den of debauchery and filth for eons, taking orders from some higher up demon. To lavish her with praise, to please her. Gwen's fists balled up, a subtle shake as she held them tight. This is all her fault. The kingdom, our demons, Thelyra. All of it. No man, beast nor wars ruined the thing she'd trodden over everyone else to build up, but herself. Stumbling her race into the deepest pits of hell, just to make things seem better.

"...Please, madame. Just call me Gwenaelle." The elf said, loosening her posture, and finally turning her head to Senya with a pained smile on her face.

Kassidy grew more and more disturbed as she watched Inari go about, cutting off heads and making a neat little pile with them. Eventually, she spoke up. "'Ey, Kitsune. Just take the horns. Lighter, more valuable." she said, pointing to the pile with her pistol before tucking it into her belt. "Demons tend ta love their horns more than most other stuff. Plus, that's less stuff ya gotta carry." She then turned about, looking to Loque. She was puking profusely, as Vincent nearby was moving over towards her. She'd have to check on her after they escaped the palace. There was still fighting and gunfire coming from outside the doors, down below in the palace itself.

Vincent finally stepped up next to her, waving his hand in front of his nose. It was a nasty smell, honestly. "C'mon, Loque. We gotta go. We need to leave before any more guards show up." he said, looking over in the direction of where the others were.

Takato watched as things unfolded - Inari going about with her war-born traditions and general rudeness, Gwen giving their defeated adversary a swift stab for safety measures, Senya approaching her, Loque seemingly breaking down once more, and Vincent approaching her, before the latter spoke up. He has about to propose a quick heal for everyone, but Vincent did raise an important point. Still, perhaps he could help her at least.

He approached Loque and raised his hand towards her, to heal her slightly. He wasn't much one to engage in higher levels of traditional medicine, especially as he grew older and maintained his hermit techniques. But he hoped that he could at least help alleviate the vomiting by restoring the slightest of balance to her qi. So far observing Loque, he still hadn't a clue how to help her beyond the necessities, but he could do this for her. If need be, he'd be willing to offer to help her up.

"Madame Loque?" he spoke.

"C'mon, Loque. We gotta go. We need to leave before any more guards show up."
Wiping her mouth and looking up to Vincent and Takato, she sluggishly gets back up to her feet as she takes the latter's hand. Exasperated, she tries giving him an explanation. "Fuck... I-I saw them... I f-fucking saw them!..." Before she leaves though, she hesitates for a moment. Looking around her, at all the furnishings and decorations, a thought entered her mind. All the pillows, all the comforters, it looks fancy, it looks... flammable. Using the same magic she uses whenever she wants to light up a cigarette, she casts a fireball towards a stack of stained mattresses way in the back of the room, quickly catching fire as it landed and slowly but surely spreading to the walls and the other pillows around it.

Takato's eyes widened as Loque suddenly took his hand in a sluggish fashion and spoke in an exasperated tone. He was worried to ask whom she had seen. Before she did anything else however, she sent out a fireball across the room and set a stack of mattresses on fire, garnering a saddened expression from him. Her stature still seemed shaky and sluggish, and he considered lending himself as a means of stabilizing her. But he wasn't sure what she was about to do after they began leaving.

Ultimately, however, Takato offered Loque his shoulder, as to see whether she herself thought she was in need of stabilizing. If not, he could at least heal her more on their way out.

Inari shrugged at Kassidy. "Is no worry, claims have been made. I also have big horn now." She picks up the piece of Thelyra's horn and stuffs it away into her pack, leaving the heads behind. Once they had been collected, counted, and viewed, they had little use. Since the others didn't make piles, by default, she had the largest and grandest.

She noticed her tanto sticking out of Thelyra's heart and Inari laughed. "Why blade there! Cut head, not stab heart," she chuckled, heading over to the body and pulling the blade out. She considered showing Gwen how to properly remove the head, but the woman didn't seem interested. Loque was also coughing up her guts and the others seemed keen to move on, so Inari recovered her blade and stashed it away. The biggest issue was that the concubines had ran off somewhere. It looks like they had left entirely. Just her luck!

The sudden scorching woosh of a fireball caused her to flinch a little at Loque, now recovered, sent once flying across the room. Inari grasped her snout in exasperation as she quickly stood. "You burn the loot, then whole place down! Why do silly thing!?" She hurried over towards the throne and where some of the pillows had been and snatched up a couple before pulling them away before the fire could spread. She glanced them over before tossing two away. Too soiled. Evidently, they had seen some considerable use. That left just one luscious, tasseled, and silky purple pillow behind, which looked clean. Inari clutched it in her arms as she eyed Loque. "Such firebug! Fire might kill concubines. We should get chains and hunt them down before fire do the work...."

Ultimately, however, Takato offered Loque his shoulder, as to see whether she herself thought she was in need of stabilizing.
And she did take it while ignoring Inari's insipid remarks towards her. If she really thinks she can find something, anything, worth preserving in this putrid palace, that's her problem. As far as she's concerned, the entire city itself needs to go up in flames.

"Lets go..." she says softly.

As the group gathered together to leave, they hurried towards the door as the fire in the room began to grow. As they emerged from Thelyra's room, the fighting and gunfire below grew louder. Vincent and a few of them peered over the railing down towards the bottom of the palace. Below, demons were fighting amongst one another, with the guards fighting off a number of various other demons with firearms and large weapons. Vincent glanced to Gwen. "Looks like Xager gave you a little backup to help us get out of here." he said.

Soon, they moved towards the stairs and began their descent towards the bottom of the palace. They passed by the murals again, which forced Gwen to pause for a brief moment to study them. She was soon dragged down the stairs by Kassidy. "We gotta hurry, elf. Don't wanna be stuck here when Sekath shows up." she stated, moving Gwen back towards the rest of the group. As they reached the ground floor, the friendly demons motioned them towards the exit. "Get going!" shouted a wrath demon, his voice rough and his tone angry. In his hands was a semi-automatic shotgun, which he used to burst a guard's head nearby. Kassidy gave him a thumbs-up, and urged the others to run for the door.

On the way out of the palace, they themselves shot or killed a few guards. Any that had the misfortune of getting in their way as they beelined for the truck. "Get in!" shouted Kassidy, firing her pistol back at a pair of guards as she rounded the front of the truck. The rest piled into the back, as Kassidy hopped in the driver's seat and fired up the vehicle.

Takato kept Loque's arm on his shoulder for the entirety of their escape, concentrating on making sure she was balanced whilst sending her qi to help her. He barely gave the fighting going on elsewhere a glance, making sure his steps and her steps weren't obstructed. As they arrived at the truck, he helped her up and get into the back, before getting in himself.

With Takato's help, Loque sits down. However, she's still shaking. Having enough of it, she lights up a cigarette to calm her nerves. She also waves the seemingly endless carton about among the others too if they want any.

Senya sat in the back, ready to move on as they finished their objective. She waited until everyone got in, in the mean time, she held up a long rifle she had for ranged combat in case any of the guards fired back at them. She won't be surprised if the Palace burned into flames.
