Fantasy Hunter's Moon: The Sin & Sentence [IC] [CLOSED]

Seriphine watched as Gödrun marched on Hudson. Good, end his never-ending complaints. She watched the scene unfold with a interested expression.

Takato noted another glance from Seriphine as she spoke, before Gödrun began walking down, facing Hudson's direction. He wasn't going to fight this being, but he wasn't about to let yet another fight occur. He took one step forward and stretched out the arm closest to Seriphine, as if instinctually telling her to not approach any closer, before jogging to get between Hudson and Gödrun.

"...barely have we entered this realm of the damned, and it has already caused strife and division to infest our minds, threaten any sort of comradery that could be had," he began speaking, "if you too oppose the Great Demon Emperor Taranoch, it makes less sense than none to fight this man. He had come here to repent for his sins, and to join in this sacred mission of ours. To kill him here would be to reject him from his destiny. To kill him would be to give in to the curse this realm induces in its visitors."

Hudson rolled his shoulders as she approached, working out any stiffness in them as he was preparing himself to fight. Seeing her light her sword on fire did nothing to faze him, if anything it gave him even more reason to attack her. He checked his footing, the sludge of the Abyss would impede his movement yet he quickly tested just by how much it would as a precaution. He kept spinning his chained flame faster, and as Takato stepped between them he quickly started to circle around so his view of the demon would not be obscured.

"I can handle my suffering just fine." he spat, gripping his sword tighter after Takato had explained himself. "No, she wants a fight clearly. I say we give it to her. Velin sent her this late into things? How? It's a load of shit - she's a demon trying to get into our midst to slaughter us later. I'm not fucking having it."

Seriphine cupped her hands around her mouth to yell. "Just let them fight and be done with it, demon. Perhaps we will earn a moment of silence afterwards."

"Need I remind you of the presence of Xager?" Takato quickly replied, "She could quickly disable this threat just as she had us earlier. There is no need for battle, and that is absolutely final!" he nearly raised his voice during the latter half of his statement.

As Takato stepped in and began talking, Gödrun stopped her advance. After the monk had explained the situation, she shifted slightly.
Gödrun looked out over the rest of the group and then spun her sword around and stuck it into the ground, which made the flames fade from the weapon.
She then knelt down on one knee and began speaking softly. The group could not make out what she was saying, but it seemed almost like a prayer of some sort.

By the first flame, not again! Senya shook her head as this eventually created another scenario. But, she can't give up yet. The Red Warden unlatched her shield, but Gödrun eventually halted her advance. But at the same time, she felt useless at the moment. The efforts of calming down the situation were getting hijacked by someone else. Senya could only watch at this point, wondering what else will happen.

Hudson eyed Takato before looking back at the new arrival, still having his weapons primed as she started to kneel down and perform a prayer of some kind. Even if she seemed to have been talked down by the oni he wasn't letting his guard down just yet. What was she doing, some kind of incantation or cursed utterance? He shook slightly, knowing full well that if he tried to strike now either Takato or the several other members of the party would try holding him back, or even kill him.

"Fucking idiots..." he muttered under his breath. If she were to cast some kind of spell he had to be ready for it.

Without saying a single word, Loque pulls out that addictive carton again and holds it in front of Senya.

Senya out of sheer frustration, refused the offer with a respectful gesture. She was a bit disappointed right now.

Takato smiled as he saw Gödrun stick their sword into the ground and kneel for a prayer. He looked back at Hudson with a serious expression, before turning towards the armored figure. He approached them, and knelt down on one knee too, to be face to face.

"If it is not much issue, could I ask you to reveal your face, no, your head more clearly? We wish but confirmation of your being, especially as the one behind me believes you to be a demon," he asked in a soft spoken fashion.

The carton doesn’t go away as Loque pulls out another smoke despite having one in her mouth and another in her hands already.

She also starts speaking again.

“... You know, for a moment this almost felt like a family dinner.”

Disappointed with the outcome Seriphine sighs. There was potential at least, oh well. She shrugged and shook her head.

Gödrun looked slowly looked up at the monk and let go off her sword. Reaching into her hood at the side of her mask, she unlatched the mask and held it in her hand with out removing it.
"Gaze upon mine visage, penitent one, and take pity on mine suffering." Gödrun spoke and removed the mask.

As she lowered the steel mask, Takato witnessed what lay beneath. A face of a woman, no doubt, but horribly scarred by fire. The wound seemed fresh, as the red skin glistened in the lights from the nearby fires. His eyes were met by dark hollows where her eyes should have been.

Horribly scarred by fire, glistening from its recentness, and eyes as hollow as the darkest caverns... Takato knew not what to think as he, indeed, took pity on her suffering.

"...dearie, what has happened to you?" he asked the woman in a saddened tone, unable to tell what she truly was.

Slowly he stopped spinning his chained mace, letting it gently fall to his side before he hooked it onto his person once again. The sword came next, thrown into its scabbard as Hudson began to walk back down on the path. "Whatever. I am not concerned about the safety of you pricks." he announced, not so much as giving any of the party a passing glance as he started to walk even further ahead.

"Jakob!" he shouted back, still not bothering to turn around. "Don't be shaking hands with whatever that fucking thing is." the hunter warned.

Inari watched the arrival of the strange person with some interest, wondering if they would become friend or foe. So far they seemed... somewhere in between. They had the same goal as going after the demon king - supposedly - but that wasn't a guarantee. This demon or lost soul reminded her of some of the earliest depictions of warriors she had seen from Adonia, many centuries ago. And the creature seemed to be from possibly earlier than that.

She lingered, watching this play out.

Gödrun put her mask back on and stood up. "I was cast into the abyss by unholy flames, ignited by men corrupted by Azgon the vile icon of wrath. Under his terrible yoke, I was forced to guard the abyss from intruders upon his domain. But the mother of mothers, ever merciful, heard my prayers even in this darkest of realms. Over ages lost in time, I hath brought salvation to wandering souls and with tears of alabaster born of penitence, I hath made this crown. Thus, my shackles hath been cast off, and I hath been holy ordained to slay the demon of demons." she explained in her rasping voice.

It didn't seemed like she was sad, in fact her speech was incredibly monotone.

"...Senya, I think we're gonna have to stick together on this one." Loque simply responds.

Gwenaelle hadn't even the strength to lift herself up off the ground whenever the new figure made herself known to the group. More bickering, more arguing. More fighting about to ensue. After tossing some rounds into her bag, she simply slumped her head over the box. She didn't even want to listen.

Takato nodded silently, as he listened to her story. To be damned in such a fashion, she couldn't be a demon, that was for sure. Though, to apply the logic of Hudson, this could be mere deception, fabrication based on the still-recent nature of her glistening scars, and her lack of knowledge on the name of her goddess, whom could very well be Velin. But in that same vein, would the Abyss not curse one that was scarred to eternally have those wounds remain fresh and painful? This woman could be here for centuries upon centuries, from a less literate time and place. He truly did not know. But unlike Hudson, he was going to give her a chance. If she had deceived her, it would be his fault alone, one to rectify, but he believed her to be true.

He got off his knee and held his hand forward as to help her get up: "Come, and let me introduce you to the others of this holy mission."

The Red Warden turned to Loque, silent after she made her comment. Senya narrowed her eyes towards Loque, compelled to say something important once they enter the city. She knew this mission was high-risk and she knew some aren't going to make it. But that didn't mean they had to fight each other because of it. Senya shook her head. Nevertheless, she had to stop being quiet for once and tell her coworkers what she had to say.

"I know this journey is going to be hard for all of us. And I know some of us aren't going to make it. Look at us right now, two fights and we still haven't reached our first destination. These pits are going to test each one of us. But it's not about giving up and it's not about making enemies. I don't care how stronger some of us are and I don't care how better we are than the others. We're in the Abyss now together and that's not going to change. Strength means nothing without faith." Senya blurted out, before catching her breath again.

"I don't know where you came from and what you did to get here, but if we don't stop provoking each other or stop believing we can make a difference, we're not going to see daylight again. All I wish by the end of this, is to see my family again."

In a quick moment, the Red Warden walked off.

Gödrun viewed the rest of the group and began walking towards them. As she did, she kept her eyes on Loque and zeroed in on her.
Stopping in front of the demon, Gödrun stuck the sword into the ground and let her hand rest upon the pommel.
"Loque, child of gluttony, thou returneth at last. Perchance, this time on a pilgrimage of redemption." she spoke.

The others of the group didn't seem in the highest spirits. She certainly understood. They nearly had a pretty bad fight on their hands. Still, she wasn't one to let these things drag her down. Everything was so much better when you could be amused and smiling rather than brewing in your discontent, like that Hudson.

Takato was away and talking to the new comer, so she couldn't really get over to him and talk with him. She needed to make sure he didn't think too poorly of her. If things would continue to go south, she needed stronger allies than Gwen, who was... currently pouting by herself. The elf would make a good traveling companion, though she didn't see much evidence of an exceptional warrior there. She spotted Senya chatting to Locque nearby, and she couldn't hear much of what they were saying, so she offered that thumbs-up gesture that Senya often did with a half-smirk as she drifted past them towards Gwen. The Red Warden seemed powerfully resolute to her. Hopefully no quake could shake that foundation.

Inari stepped over to Gwen and nudged her. "You look sad again, why so? Is no need. You scared of fight, I help in fight so you won't be scared. But no fight now, so no need to be scared."

She eyed the newcomer walk through the group towards Locque and talk to them. "And beside, we have new ally to help. Strong words and fists here remind me of ronin band, and ronin get job done." She didn't need to add they often killed each other, too, usually violently and bringing their own little bands into nothingness over petty things.
