Meg stopped breathing. She was going to pass out because of this, but hey, if she was unconscious, then maybe she wouldn’t feel being smashed to death with a huge boulder. She had a stick, which was sure to break on that. And water, which sure erodes rocks, but that’s over years. And at the moment, Meg wasn’t confident to live minutes.

She let out a silent breath, like that she used when she was eavesdropping on the Innkeeper. --So much for passing out--as she breathed in once more. Think. Panicking was just a way to die quicker. She wanted to succeed at this. So look at it. In the flickering of Ramirez’s torch, she could make out a huge shield of a, let’s go with, face. Its mouth--and those fangs looked like they’d even pierce those with armor. And two shovel-like limbs. Wait, she tried to scrutinize closer, but she couldn’t see any eyes. Looking at Ramirez, she hoped he’d see her as she put her hands carefully over her eyes implying,
Is it blind?

Ramirez glanced over at Meg's motion before slowly nodding, doing best to not rattle his armour. He slowly pointed a finger to his ears then at the beast before them.

Percival’s eyes ping-ponged as he glanced from Ramirez to Meg and back again. So the rock monster was blind and they needed to be quiet. He could do that… so long as he didn’t move, because just like Ramirez, he sounded like a rattling cutlery draw when he walked.

The Shaelmaar made some horrendous snorting and snarling sounds as it began to move around. It couldn’t see its prey, but it had other ways of seeking them out.

The monster barked out a deafening screech, mapping the terrain via some form of echo location. It’s head suddenly jerked in the group’s direction and it roared. It tucked itself back into a ball shape and sped their way at great speed.

Her hands could barely cover her large ears at the loud screech. At the roar, Meg couldn’t suppress the shriek of fear, but she started working immediately. Summoning all the water she could from beneath it, she made its ground as muddy and soggy as possible. If she was lucky, its weight would cause it to sink into the mud and get stuck.

In case it wasn’t, Meg ran toward Ramirez. He’d said it was his job to protect delicate newbies like her. As she sprinted, she yelled, “Your sword enough for that?” Figuring silence was no longer relevant. It obviously knew they were there. As she ran, one hand stayed thrust toward the boulder, continuing to summon more moisture.

The hunter rolled his eyes, so much for suprise. "We gotta flip it over, its underside is its weak point, even my blade wont do much to its hide" he brandished it more like a sheild ready to deflect the on coming strike as a faint blue glow emanated from between the joints of his armour.

Ivan had fallen on the ground from his reckless jump earlier and was recovering from it. He then hears rumbling and turns his head to see a big ball rolling their way.

"Gaaah!" He begins running the other way. "What is that?!"

The Shaelmaar sank in Meg’s mud, but it continued to spin, splatting the walls of the cavern and anyone in range.

“How do we do that!? It’s huge!” Percival shouted over the deafening grinding and whirling sounds. Suddenly the noises stopped as the Shaelmaar unfurled again and started burrowing downward with its scoop-like claws.

“… that’s not good.” The teen noted.

As Ivan was making the most noise, the monster burst out of the ground in front of him. It blindly took a swipe at the Hunter, intending to bash him into the wall.

Ramirez hurried over as fast as he could through the knee deep mud. "Oh no you dont you twazik!" He swung the blade round to clang against its back hopeing best to draw its attention.

((Tried to find a video that wasn’t too long, but to give a better idea of what the group are fighting…

😅))

Ivan couldn't react in time so he was bashed into the wall with a big thud.
"Ooof! Urgh..." He grunts as he dislodges himself from the new hole in the wall. Looking quite pissed.

The whole cavern shook as Ivan slammed into the wall. Bits of rock and loose calthemites showered down on to the group from the ceiling.

The Shaelmaar screeched and was about to take a bite out of Ivan when Ramirez’s huge sword CLANGED off its stoney hide. The blow didn’t harm it, but it abruptly turned and lashed at the Veteran instead - swinging one of it’s pincers to batter him aside.

Over by Meg, Percival raised his arms in the air and began shouting in an attempt to lure the beast away. “Hey! Over here!”

The Shaelmaar turned to the noise and began to charge.

Ivan sees that Percival is distracting the Shaelmaar allowing the horned man to get himself up. He wouldn't let this opportunity go to waste. This cavern was a little cramped but it would do.

Purple energy begins evaporating from Ivan's body. Black scales would pierce through his skin and his fingers grow to absurd size. His thumbs would make place for a large jagged spike. A sturdy purple fleece formed inbetween his now bony fingers. His torso would grow as well.

Ramirez was about to tell Percy off before Ivan started 'growing'.
"Awww bugger" he gasped, moving out of the way and teying to get to percy before the lad became a flattened tin can.

Percival grimaced as his plan to distract the monster worked. Though beyond grabbing its attention he hadn’t really thought of what to do next.

As the rolling Shaelmaar skidded through Meg’s mud, Percy leapt aside, leaving the out of control creature to bash into a cavern wall.

The dazed monster unfurled and looked to be laid on its back. However, it wasn’t long before it began to move again, writhing and screeching as it attempted to right itself.

Percival lifted his face out of the mud, and gasped as he finally caught sight of Ivan.

((I'm really sorry for disappearing. I haven't handled the past days well. I'll try to at least make contact if it happens again.))

It’s more or less working. She thought as mud slapped her face. Then the monster did the most terrifying thing. It disappeared under the earth. It was the principle of fearing a spider suddenly out of sight, multipled by a trillion. The vibration of the monster’s digging echoed through the empty mines, seeming impossible to guess where it would come up. Thankfully it wasn’t under her. Relatively, it wasn’t even close to her. She still screamed, but the beast was distracted by slamming the inhuman creature into a wall with enough force to kill a normal human. Or even one as close as her. Rocks and loose bits of the ‘ceiling’ rained down as the horned man went literally into the wall.

Luckily Ramirez intervened, so she wouldn’t have to see anyone get eaten, but then Percival yelled beside her. “What are we going to do?” She leapt to the side, hopefully out of its path, rolling ungracefully away, then hearing it smash into a wall way too close to her. She used the water in the mud to continue her momentum, pushing her into a stumbling stance, desperate to spin once the creature started to screech once more. She had a split moment of relief, before seeing something even worse--an actual dragon! What the fuck was it doing here? Why were they that unlucky?

Panting, she tried to swallow away the feeling of nausea. Think, focus, “Rock thing flips when it hits something. Maybe the dragon is solid enough to count?” If they could keep the beasts focus on each other, then all they’d have to do was scatter like ants avoiding being squished. Yeah…only that. Her eyes scanned the group, realizing she’d lost the horned guy in her tumble. Did it run? Was it dead that quickly? Did the dragon kill it? She didn’t even know its name.

"Oi! Ivan right? Can ya hold im' down?!?" Ramirez called to what he could only describe as a wyvern of sorts, guild was getting weirder each day.... not that he minded made things exciting.

The hunter gave Meg a thumbs up, the newbie had a smart head on her shoulders, she had already mad the terrain trickier and was already spotting weaknesses. "Good plan Meg! I'll then get in there and try and take it out when it's belly is exposed. Can ya fill in the holes with water? Might deter it from going back under!"

He gripped his blade and wadded closer to the dualing beasts, reaching down to help Percy up from the muck, didn't want the lad ta drown in mud now, aint a fun way to go.

Ivan? Was Ramirez implying that was the missing beast-folk? They both had horns? Or had the veteran just befriended another monster like his lizard above ground? Either way, as long as it also didn’t try to kill her--or the others, she supposed--then she’d accept it. Anything to help fight the rock. She was surprised when the plan still consisted of them siccing the monsters on each other, especially if Ramirez counted one as friendly, but then he gave her a new task. “That’s a lot of water..." she murmured, starting to work. She started with the mud beneath the two knights, hoping to solidify their stances. She pushed hard, straining more than she’d ever tried before. After the ground was mostly dry beneath the men, she’d try the same for the dragon, since it was an ally apparently.

As Ivan was now the largest and loudest thing in the cavern, the territorial Shaelmaar focussed its attacks on the wyvern. Attempting to ram, slash and bite it, all the while slipping and spraying mud everywhere.

“Thanks.” Percival said as Ramirez easily plucked him out of the claggy brown gloop. The teen was more mud than man by this point. His face looked like he’d been interrupted mid mud-pack at a beauty spar.

“What can I do?” He asked, wiping his eyes clean. Despite everything, he had managed to hold on to his sword and he still wanted to help.

Ramirez patted the lad down and smiled, "you can help with jabbing at its soft underside. Your sword is better for that than mine. Jut need a good opening to gwt in there"

The now fully fledged wyvern was out of his element in the cavern. He had nowhere to fly. Ivan attempts to hook his claws onto the Shaelmaar. If he could get an opening he would blast the beast's face with fire.

((Sorry not much is happening in the post, but I figured I'd note the hole was filling, if nothing else.))

Water, once it started moving, loved to follow the new path it was forming. Though it was more than she’d ever moved before, Meg was able to dry out beneath the men’s feet and had moved on to the dragon’s. The rock’s attacks were enough to make her worry about it, but there was nothing else she could think of to do. A hopeless feeling was echoing through her, as she tried to focus on her task. But her worries flowed with the water she was directing. The hole was filling, but she couldn’t find a solution. Could the rock swim? Maybe they could push it into the water? Her mind imagined it tripping, landing belly up in the water, but it was too ridiculous, the thought flushed by others.

“Ok.” Percival tightened his grip on his muddy sword and got ready to move once Ramirez gave the signal.

Ivan’s claws wouldn’t be able to penetrate the Shaelmaar’s stoney outer shell, but it stopped the monster spinning. Sparks and small stones flicked from it’s back as it ground to a halt. It opened back out with a ferocious roar.

As the creature took a step back, preparing to take a swing at the wyvern, one of its back legs suddenly dropped down onto Meg’s watery trap. Stuck and off-balance, this might be the group’s chance to overwhelm the monster.

The wyvern inhales air in its mouth. His neck glows from fire building up inside, before Ivan breathes out a blast of fire on the Shaelmaar's head.

“Ah!” Percival covered his ears as the Shaelmaar filled the cavern with a piercing screech.

The monster braced against the wyvern’s scorching flames, and it’s rock-like hide and claws glowed red-hot like magma. Eventually it toppled onto its back and desperately thrashed about like a stuck tortoise.

Ramirez covered his ears too as the creature wailed horribly, "Cmon percy lets get it!" He shouted over the noise as the creature flailed. The hunter moved in and took a swing at the exposed belly.
