Fandom HTTYD small group RP

Hello all!!! I've got an idea for a HTTYD rp that's basically our very own version of Race to the Edge. It would involve our group of OCs, a group of dragon riders called the Riders' Vanguard (originally the Recon Riders but that's a dumb Hiccup-ey name so they changed it) venturing out to the west of the barbaric archipelago. The area is speckled with old ruins, and there are no doubt plenty of secrets to find.

My hope is that this balances fun, dumb antics with darker story arcs, similar to the TV show, with input from all players. Keep in mind that it would take place during the 6th season of RTTE, and while canon characters aren't currently considered huge factors, they certainly exist and, if people so desire, can have heavy interaction with our characters.

So please tell me if anyone is interested in seeing this come to fruition, or if anyone has ideas of their own to add!
 
I haven't see quite a bit of the show but I really enjoyed the movie and what I've seen of the show. Will that be a problem? Because if not I would be very interested in this!
 
nope! I can certainly fill people in on the important parts, I'm more worried if anyone doesn't want spoilers!
but yes, don't worry you'll be all good. Most things in this will be original and created along the way. And new dragons from the series I'm sure you can just look up on the wiki
 
Hello all!! Thank you for your interest! I'll be working on the rp and getting a cs up. I don't think it should take long since I've already got most of what is necessary done prior to posting the interest check. Anyways, in the mean time, anyone got any ideas they wanna toss out?

As for an idea, well there could be a strange sickness/corruption that is spreading through the wilds. Plants and animals are dying from the it but in the case of strong dragons, they become corrupted and aggressive. Our riders must find the source of this corruption and stop it. (Maybe the old ruins have answers to this dark curse!)

Along the way some of our dragons may actually become affected.... even to the point of attacking their trainers.

I haven't watched anything other than the first movie so idk if this plot is cliche :ghost:
 
Ooh I actually really like that idea!
I've, of course, got a few ideas and plans myself, but I'm always open for input. I'm thinking that we will start out with small mysteries that eventually add up to something bigger

Also, since I am a nerd who has watched every httyd related thing I could get my grubby hands on, let me know if y'all want a quick rundown of all the important stuff from it. I'd be happy to provide!

Alrighty!!
So, the main, important things that happened in the TV series:
Berk battled against Alvin the treacherous and the outcasts, and who later allied with Dagur the Deranged, chief of the beserkers. There was a whole war, whispering deaths kind of messed up Berk and eventually a screaming death had to be fought. This was the first instance of a Titan wing appearing in the franchise. Titan wings are basically much larger and much more powerful versions of a dragon, possibly a mutation, possibly just a rare form of maturity. Once the beserkers were defeated, the outcasts allied with Berk and kept Dagur imprisoned on their island. Three years later, Dagur escapes and hiccup and Co. find an artifact called the Dragon Eye on a destroyed dragon hunter ship. They set up a base beyond the archipelago called Dragon's Edge and discover that by shining the light of a dragons fire through the dragon eye, they can display maps and information about dragons beyond the archipelago. They get into quarrels with dragon hunters, and it's implied that the ancestors of a dragon hunting tribe were responsible for the artifact's creation. There are two more tribes introduced in race to the edge: the Defenders of the Wing, who live by a volcano and worship dragons, specifically their Great Protector, a magma eating eruptadon. And the Wingmaidens, an all female tribe of women who help raise razorwhip dragons until they mature, and then release them into the wild again. Both are allied with Berk. Eventually the berserkers also ally with Berk. In a final race against the dragon hunters, the dragon eye leads hiccup to the King of Dragons. They find a hibernating bewilderbeast that has been living under the island, and battle the dragon hunters for its egg. As it turns out, the leader of the dragon hunters works for Drago and is supposed to bring him the king of dragons. Hiccup saves the egg and the bewilderbeast blocks itself under the island with it's ice. The Wingmaidens take the egg and give it to valka, and everyone returns home, and the dragon eye is destroyed.

If this takes place mid season 6, that means the dragon riders will be racing to beat the dragon hunters in unlocking the map to the kind of dragons, which I thought could make for an interesting lil tidbit of plot potential, considering that means our ocs could find out about the bewilderbeast under beserkers island.
Also, and this isn't actually canon but for the purposes of this rp, the dragon eye named the are west of the archipelago as the Kingdom of the Wilderness, and showed structures on the islands. So it's implied that it was, at one point, a grand and booming kingdom
