Nope, that'd be option two, most voted for one.

For whatever reason Ragnar and Rose don't return after half a day, so Serenity takes two people with her to explore, probably Yuki and Alva or Yuki and Victoria. While they're gone a dragon breaks into the hall and one of the remaining two flees, leaving the other to try and calm an enraged dragon. Might adds a starting snowstorm to make them more worried. The goal is to have everyone get their dragon around the same time.

For Rose I was thinking Midnight kidnaps her when they're in the forest and drops her in the cove, away from everything that could harm her and not letting her leave

That's the plot, kinda, after they're deemed ready they will head to Dragon's Edge for a few years
