How To Train Your Dragon: Bonded

Ash gave a small smirk, "N-No viking w-would of d-done t-that for m-me" She rasped back to him, still watching the boy, watching the steady rise and fall of his chest with a gleam of relief in her amber eyes. Anyone else would of left her there to die, but the boy had carried her to safety and help, and she wondered why he was so different from all of the other vikings. She sighed softly, and decided that, once they were both healed, and if the boy wanted to, she would take him out and teach him about wild dragons, and how to earn their respect instead of becoming their next meal.

She frowned at the wet rag, and struggled as it was put over her nose and mouth, holding her breath. Her eyes turned wild and panicked, and she tried to get away. But alas she had to breathe eventually, and felt a sharp spike of pain as she breathed, before she felt herself become dizzy and the world went black, her body going limp

The first thing he smelled before he opened his eyes were the heavy scents of medicine and the underlying trace of candles. He furrowed his eyebrow at the onslaught of his senses mainly due to the overwhelming stench of alcohol and blood. He cracked opened his eyes briefly before closing them again. The dizziness he felt was powerful, but he cracked open one eyes regardless. Sniffing, he was met a wooden ceiling and the flickering presence of the candle beside his bed. He blinked once and saw the hospital area and the other beds that surrounded him. He was lying on his back with his body tucked under the covers like a mother would do her babe and flinched as the stinging pain in his arm resurfaced.

He turned his head to the left towards the window and saw that it was night. The blackness of the sky seemed as if it swallowed the village and he could see the icy frosts that were forming on the glass. He tried to speak, but his tongue felt dry and too big for his mouth. His thoughts were jumbled with questions that he couldn't answer and he decided on ignoring them for the time being.

Ash!

The thought louder than the others and even rang in his head as it dissipated. He coughed hard, tears forming in his eyes, making him shiver as he turned his head. He slowly, but painfully lifted his head and glanced at the bed across from his. His relief couldn't be described in words as he saw her sleeping body. Chest moving up and down slowly as she rested. He sighed and let his head fall back against the pillow and closed his eyes.

The only thing he could do was look around and try to go back to sleep and he wasn't even sure if he could. He sighed slowly, looking at the mist that escaped his mouth and smiled. His arm pulsed slowly, once, twice, before he could even move it, He decided it was better not to think about it. He frowned. Then what could he do? He was took weak to move or even talk so getting through to someone wasn't an option.

Ssssssss

His eyes snapped open and his heart jumped in his chest. The sound came from underneath him, closer than he'd like. He swallowed back the fear that was rising in his throat and shivered. It sounded like a tail sliding smoothly against the floor, but he tried to erase it out of his mind with no avail. The bed shook once before he let out a soft cry and twice before his mouth became dry. He couldn't speak nor could he breathe as he tried to calm himself and force himself to believe that it was his twins. But the thought was soon shot from his mind as he relieved that they wouldn't have the strength to shake the bed twice.

He closed his eyes tightly, hoping that whatever it was wouldn't like a dead meal. He was met with nothing. Before he could oipen his eyes he felt something hot and steamy hit his face and his breathe cut short in his throat. It reeked and it smelled like the discarded fish that hos dad would throw away. His face soon become wet and he slowly cracked open an eye. He was met with sharp teeth and pale yellow orbs staring at him.

Ash had woken a while ago, but had kept her eyes closed as she thought to herself about the dragon that had attacked them. She knew what it was, a Wooly Howl, but had no clue as to why it had attacked them, and then, when they were the most vulnerable, left them alone. It could of eaten them, and there wouldn't be anything the two vikings could do about it, so why hadn't it? She sighed softly, opening her eyes slowly, only to be greeted by the familiar darkness of night, which was only slightly lit by the presence of a candle. Her head throbbed at even the soft light, and so she closed her eyes again just to get away from the light.

However, her eyes snapped back open when she heard a noise, akin to that of a dragon tail over wood. For a moment she believed it was the twins but, turning her head toward the boys bed, she froze as she noticed the dragon, hiding from the view of the boy. She gave it a glare, but watched silently. She watched, hoping it didn't eat him, and growled softly as it made its way to him, placing its head in front of him.

She was fond of the boy, who had shown more care for her than most, just by bringing her back to Berk. She wouldn't allow him to be eaten, and so quietly picked up the dagger that was resting upon her bedside, and slowly pushed herself to her feet, leaning against the wall as she watched the dragon, who seemed unaware of the girl

You shouldn't look so scared tiny one. It is only I.

The words came out in a slow low hiss as her eyes narrowed and she butted her snout against his head. His skin was cold with sweat and she could taste his fear on her tongue. The bitter scent fled into her senses making her purr with reassurance as she sniffed him. The scent of fish was replaced with something spicy. She concluded herbs and ignored it. He had every right to be afraid of her. She would be surprised if he wasn't cautious her intent after what she had done. She wondered where this feeling was coming from. This...urge to protect him. She bared her teeth a little, but slowly closed her mouth as she saw him flinch.

She had watched as the boy and the girl stumbled through the woods their blood making a sweet trail across the snow as he slowly made his way with the girl in hand. Her ear twitched and she closed her eyes as she remembered the commotion they had caused. She could still remember the screams and the whispers of the other dragons and the accusing stares as they glared at her. How could you, the would say. But the moment she would look at them they would shrink away in fear and scuttle away quietly.

They boy-Arvid. A puff of smoke blew from her lips as she paused. Arvid held his breathe and his eyes watered. Breathing through her nose she sat up and tilted her head as she look down at him from above. She blinked once before turning her head and staring the girl. She could still smell the heavy scent of medicine that pulsed from her and nodded before glancing down to look at the boy.

He eyes were wider and he stared at her in awe. Her chest filled with pride. As he should, she told herself. Without another word she climbed down beside the bed and placed her paw on his wound. Arvid tensed, but continued to gaze at her. She blinked once and looked down and nodded as in apology and took off towards the open door.

She would be back.

Ash watched the dragon curiously, watching it leave. She frowned, looking back to the boy, "I... I think she was apologizing" She said softly, looking to her new friend. She lowered her head, wincing softly before sitting heavily back on her bed, grumbling as her head began to ache. She laid back down, curling into a ball whilst facing the boy, hoping that that would help get rid of the thudding in her head that felt like a dragon was standing on it. She looked back over at the boy, a soft whimper escaping her lips, "Y-You ok?" She asked softly
