How to Search for Role Plays (and use the Search Bar)

So, now that the beta testing is done, our lovely nation now has two formats for roleplaying. Ideally, all role plays will eventually switch over to the new format, but until then here is a guide you help you navigate around the site.


I've also included a tutorial on how to use the Search Bar, which may make searching for that dream role play (or a role play you've already joined) a little easier.

1. Looking up All Role Plays (both oldschool and new styles)

• On the index page, if you scroll down to Members Role Plays section, ALL member role plays are still organized under the Animal, Fandom, Fantasy/Supernatural, Sci-fi, Slice of Life, Superhero, Other, Werewolf, and Inactive Sections.

• For this example, I clicked on the "Fandom" forum. You'll notice that the layout is still the same as it has always been, with sub-forums for Sign-Ups and Info/Storylines above the actual Role Play threads.
  
  
  The roleplay threads and sign-up sheets are still organized in ascending order based on responses: Threads with the newest responses will appear at the top of page 1, while threads with the oldest responses will appear on the bottom of the last page.

• On the RpN Taskbar, which is at the top of every page, click on the "Role Plays" Button. This will take you to all the role plays using the NEW format.

• Like the oldschool way, the role plays are still organized by genre. However, role plays are no longer organized in by Latest Messages, but by tabs entitled "Newest Role Plays", "Latest Updates" and "Top Role Plays".
  
  
  • Newest Role Plays: Organizes rps from newest creation date at the top, to oldest creation date at the bottom
    
  • Latest Updates: Organizes rps from newest updates at the top, to oldest updates at the bottom
    
  • Top Role Plays: Organizes rps with the highest ratings at the top (out of five stars), and lowest/no ratings at the bottom. If two rps have the same rating, the one with the most votes will show up higher than the one with less votes. So, make sure to vote for your favorite rps!

• Once you've clicked on the "Role Plays" button that brings you to view the new style role plays, you can also create a role play in the new format.

3. Introduction to the Search Bar

​

This is a useful feature if you're looking for a specific role play/user/discussion thread/etc and you don't want to search through stacks of threads or member lists to find what you're looking for.


There are a few different ways that you can search around the site. The easiest and most Basic Search can be done using the Search Bar at the top of each page.


Clicking on "More" in the expanded view of the Search Bar will bring you to the Advanced Search. Additionally, you can access the advanced Search Bar by going to the RpN Taskbar, clicking on "Role Plays" and then clicking "Search Role Plays".

5. Advanced Search

The Advanced Search, which you can access by either clicking "More" on the expanded version of the basic Search Bar, or by going to the RpN Taskbar and clicking "Role Plays" and then "Search Role Plays" has five different search options: Search Everything; Search Threads an Posts; Search Profile Posts; Search Role Plays and; Search Character Gallery
