Realistic or Modern Horror Hotel ~A Vacation Gone Horribly Wrong~

Ivory Dunwell

Ivory looked at the child, wondering how many people were going to regret their decisions to reside here later on tonight before smiling (somewhat distubingly) at the girl. "Nothing I believe we can fix, this woman had a scare is all.."

Jade totally doesn't realize that Uncle Ian is uncomfortable, so she keeps the conversation going. "Well it seems like you're a great uncle!" She beams at the quiet man, a small blush dusting her cheeks. Hey! What can she say? Every girl loves a man who's good with kids. And this one's even cute, too-- "Oh, sh--" Jade looks down at the little kid, remembering to censor herself, "SH--sh... She has probably tried to call me," Jade (not so) deftly saves, pulling out her cell phone. She promised her mom that she'd call once she got to the hotel. Her mom was always worried that Jade was going to get raped or shot or mugged or get stuck in a haunted hotel, or something stupid like that. It felt to Jade like her mom called her 1,000 times a day.
Flipping open her cell phone and seeing no calls, something felt wrong. No missed calls? That's not right... She should probably call and make sure her mom is alright. "Hey, excuse me, I'm going to head to my room and get settled in for a little while." She smiled at her new little friend and her uncle, "You can wear the hat a little while longer sweetie, I'm sure we'll see each other around soon!" Jade grinned and patted the girl's head, only pushing the hat deeper over the little one's small head. "See you!" She smiled at Ian with a smirk before departing to one of the hotel's many elevators.

Jade waited for the elevator to arrive after pressing the button, and when the door opened, it revealed two young women. One was on the floor, wiping away tears, and the other seemed to be comforting her. "Um..." Jade felt bad and wanted to help, intruding on the stranger's problems, "Is there... something wrong?"

(Yes, show them the deceased bodies and broken bones. SHOW THEM DEEEATH. I TURNED OUT FINE!)

"Ivory.." She repeated quietly her accent making the name sound more like Oivory. "Your really nice...Thank you for not leaving me....Im here alone.." She said leaning upon the girl sitting next to her.

(OH well, I suppose I will continue!)

The young woman who was comforting her companion gave Jade a strange smile, "Nothing I believe we can fix," The beautiful woman sighed, "This woman had a scare is all." At this Jade only nodded and hoped that the frightened woman felt better. Jade was glad she had someone to take care of her, and shrugged it off. "Alright!" She gave a small smile, and departed for her hotel room. Jade was eager to see how big it was, what it looked like, how nice it smelled, what kind of free bath supplies there were, and best of all, jump on the bed. Oh, right, she had to call Mom first.

Stepping into the sleek, empty elevator, Jade pressed the "Floor 9" button, and whipped out her cell phone. She dialed her mom's number, expecting a cheery and relieved voice to pick up on the other side. The only sound was dial tone. "Huh?" Jade took her phone from her ear, and gave it a once over. She had no signal at all. "Hmph. You must have to pay for wifi here or something." The frugal girl decided foolishly, not even realizing that it doesn't take wifi to make a phone call. Jade assumed that there would be a room phone anyways, so she could call her mom up once she got there.

Ding

The elevator toned each time she ascended a floor.

It tolled once more, until the doors opened onto her floor. Jade stepped out, looking at her room key for the number of her hotel room. "911." She read aloud, then looked up from the key and to the hallway. "Oh!" She exclaimed in surprise. "Little girl, what are you doing up here? Where's your uncle?"

little%20girl%20(333x500).jpg

The little girl that Jade had just met in the lobby stood at the end of the hallway. She stood silently with her head tilted downwards, hiding her eyes beneath Jade's over sized hat. When the little girl didn't answer, Jade slowly walked towards her. Is she okay? "Hey, Princess. How'd you get up here so fast? You must be fast, huh? And where's your uncle Ian? You shouldn't be wandering around alone, I'm sure he's worried about you." Again, the girl didn't respond. With this silence, Jade became worried for her, and jogged toward the silent child until she finally reached her, touching her arm. "Hey, are you ok--"

f754bd9cf988f0ff6333eb2d15481443.jpg

The little girl grabbed Jade's arm, her nails digging into her skin like claws. "But I'm here with you!" She screamed and looked up into Jade's eyes, but the little girl didn't have big blue eyes like before - no, they were pitch black and lifeless. "AHHH!" Jade screamed at the top of her lungs, then everything turned black.

Jade woke up in her hotel room panting heavily, sweat dripping from her forehead. "What the actual fuck..."

That was the most real nightmare she'd ever had... When did she even get to her room? Jade didn't remember... She must really have been tired from the long drive! She passed off the situation like it never happened. Jade felt disgusting from all of the dripping sweat and decided to take a shower. She was quick, so disturbed by her freaky and realistic dream that she didn't take long, already out of the shower within ten minutes. Patting herself dry with a fluffy, free towel, Jade noticed something strange.

She had bruises forming on her left arm. Five bruises, to be exact. In the formation of a hand.

'She is leaning on you, she is giving contact, you have not ever had contact.' Ivory cursed quietly before willing away the inner voice in her head, she cleared her throat before speaking. "You do know the history regarding this place, correct?"

(Yeah, I know I'd be absolutely terrified! :o But then, it's also best not to upset the child, if you know what I mean.)

Once the young woman had gone, Ian breathed a small sigh of relief. That had been more than a bit stressful. But even as he thought that, his mind began to wander to the light blush that he thought he'd seen on her cheeks as she looked at him, and the smirk that she'd given him as she left for her room, and he couldn't help but think that she just might have been the slightest bit -

No. He wasn't doing this. He had seen nothing. She was a girl who had thought that his dau- niece - was cute, and nothing more. If he was lucky, he wouldn't need to socialize with her again.

"That lady was a princess," Avyanna said after a few moments, breaking the silence.

"Really?" he asked, his voice heavy with that false sincerity that adults use with children who don't know the difference. "How do you know?" Ian raised an eyebrow in amusement. Avyanna always had a way of making him feel more at ease.

"Yup," the little girl responded very seriously, nodding her head, which made the rim of the hat flap up and down. "She had to be. Only a princess can recognize other princesses. Except I'm only a pretend princess..."

Her voice fell at this, but then, before Ian could even think of something to say, she was back to her old self again.

"We'll see her again, right Uncle Ian?" she questioned him, her eyes full of hope.

Just as he was about to tell her that yes, he supposed they would have too because they needed to return the hat, as much as he dreaded the thought, when he thought he felt a presence behind him. He turned, about to tell whoever it was to fuck off - and barely contained a scream, nearly falling off of the couch. It was a man with a shining bald head and a black suit jacket covering his broad shoulders. Except the man didn't have eyes, only empty, black holes, and the front of his shirt was coated in something sticky and red, which Ian could only guess was -

Then, as soon as the thing had appeared, it was gone. Ian shook his head and looked around, hardly able to believe what he had seen as he tried to calm his racing heartbeat. Great. Now everyone was staring. He felt like he was going insane.

"What's wrong, Uncle Ian?" Avyanna asked him, glancing behind them briefly before looking back at him, obviously concerned.

"Nothing, sweetie, everything's fine," he assured her, using all his willpower to try and keep a steady voice. "Come on, we're going back upstairs to see your mommies."

He grabbed her arm and lead her to the elevator.

"N...No...I just arrived...I...Can you stay with me tonight? Please! I just dont want to be alone.." she managed to stammer out holding the other girl, trying to hold back resurfacing tears.

((OH! Good point, yes that's a great idea! Yes, we don't want to scare the children by telling them that they appeared in a deserted hallway in a demonic form with pitch black eyes and gave you bruises on your arm.... Nope. Also yes I LOVE your characters and their dialogue!!))

Ivory Dunwell

Briefly, Ivory had a heart attack. To say that she was not good at socializing let alone being in another's presence was an understatement, she ran a shaking hand through her hair before readjusting her sunglasses. Who wore sunglasses inside? Ivory did. "Ah, I suppose I could make room in my room but I would hate to inform you that the room service may be less than satisfactory so don't be surprised when you receive a head instead of the pizza you ordered." Oh no, here it comes, the horrible humour in precarious situations, Ivory wanted to die.

"I believe you are right on that account I--" darkness overcame Ivory, submerging her in an abyss filled with nothing. She stumbled, struggling to return, to breathe but something withheld her. She was alone, utterly alone in a hallway which only had one source of light which hung overhead, flickering rapidly. She turned, looking for the girl which had been standing beside her and validating her theory that this was just an hallucination. No she was not in 'The Shining', no this hallway was indeed a figment of her imagination, and yes would be able to return.

Possibly.

She considered her options and decided that there was no better way than forward, stepping cautiously ahead before jumping as the light shattered overhead, pieces of glass raining upon her. She had filmed a scene such as this before, it shouldn't have terrified her. But it did.

She slid her hands along the way, ignoring the mysterious liquid which coated them in order to not succumb to her fears. It wasn't blood, walls didn't bleed. It was only then that she realized that something other than herself was
breathing..

In..

Out..

In..

Out..

In..

No, no, no, no. No thank you. Not happening. Ivory flattened herself against the wall and willed herself to return because whatever was with her had changed her mind, altered her optimism, she did not wish to see what it was.

"Take me back, take me back, take me--"

Warm. Safe. Her eyes opened and she was standing where she had originally been, in front of the girl. Impossible.

(I really love voicing this character. xD )

"Oi? You O'royte?" She said looking Ivory with concern as they started up the stairwell, hand in hand. (( Im sorry for all the one liners =/ ))

Ivory Dunwell

"I was.. scared, you must understand I'm never scared, it isn't in my genes.. I work in haunted houses, I specialize in terror and a measly hallway filled with fucking nothing scared me!" Ivory stops, briefly releasing the girl's hand in order to clasp her shoulders. She pulls her in, hugging her and nuzzling her face in her shoulder. "The fact that I am hugging you means I need comfort, I apologize if this upsets you." Her voice is slightly muffled, fingers digging into the woman's shoulders.

@TerrinX

Crying.

"Crying?" Jade asked herself as she looked in her steamy bathroom mirror, reflecting a terrified, nude, bruised girl, a tear streaming down her damp cheek. Jade shook her head. "No. No, no no no." While only one word came out in a defiant tone despite her fear, it held more meaning. No, that wasn't real. No, that couldn't have happened. No, that wasn't the little girl from downstairs. The statements seemed logical, but they just couldn't be right. Then why are there bruises? Then how did it happen? Then just what was that thing?

Jade's whole body shivered in terror. She had to do something, she couldn't just sit there in the bathroom.

Opening the door cautiously, making sure there were no unwanted visitors in her hotel room, Jade found her luggage sitting at the foot of her bed. She dressed into a skimpy tank top and lounge shorts, the first things she could find. Once dressed, she scoured the hotel room for the phone - but found none.

"DAMMIT!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. Each time she passed the mirror on top of the vanity in her room, she checked it just to be sure that the demonic little girl with black eyes wouldn't be staring back at her. "Dammit!" She cursed again, loud enough for the whole floor to hear. Jade took her cell phone from her pocket, and dialed her mom's number once again. Nothing. Nothing but dial tone. Emitting another growl, Jade realized that her only hope was to find another vacationer with a cell phone, which meant she needed to walk through the hallway once again. She knew that the more she thought about it, the more scared she would get, so she forced herself to open the door to the hallway, a pair of scissors (she couldn't find anything else) in her hand.

"Hello!"

Robot-GIF-1.gif

"AHHH!" Jade screamed at the top of her lungs, bringing down her pair of scissors - until realizing it was just Mary Smith, the worker from the lobby. "Mary, oh my God you scared me!" Mary gave a quick, emotionless laugh. "I hope you are enjoying your stay at the Golden Crown Resort and Spa. My name is Mary Smith, I have come to make sure your room is satisfactory. If you need any help or have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. At Golden Crown Resort and Spa, every stay is Golden!"

"Yeah," Jade gave Mary a weird look, "I know, Mare. You told me. 30 times." She softened her words with a forced smile of her own. "You know Mare, this room isn't satisfactory, actually. There's no phone in here." Jade declared with an attitude. Mary didn't say anything for a moment, almost as if she was processing Jade's complaint.

"We apologize for the inconvenience, Jade Barlow. Your complaint has been noted." Mary responded, her smile not moving from her face. Jeeze, her cheeks must hurt, Jade cringed. Just when she opened her mouth to ask where the hell the phones were, Mary interrupted. "Where are you going?"

Jade's polite smile dissolved.

"Why do you need to know?" Jade countered. She finally realized that something was fishy about this Mary Smith. The hotel staff member blinked harshly, then responded with the same strained grin, "I hope you are enjoying your stay at the Golden Crown Resort and Spa. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. I do not want you to get... lost." Mary ended her sentence with a special emphasis on the word 'lost'. Her repeated phrases were beginning to piss Jade off once more.

"I'm going to the pool." Jade retorted, lying through her teeth.

Mary processed her words once more, then asked, "Where is your bathing suit?"

Jade hated it when people stuck their nose in her business, and this bitch Mary was really beginning to get on her last nerve. "I'm swimming naked." She growled.

Once again, Mary Smith took time to understand what Jade said. "The Golden Crown Resort and Spa rules state that while swimming one must -" "FINE Mary." Jade boomed, turned around, marched to her luggage, pulled out a bright pink string bikini, and returned to the doorway. "See Mary? Bye." She shoved past the eerie hotel staff member, who just muttered another one of her repeated phrases. Jade picked up the pace, muttering under her breath, "Whatever you say, i-robot."

Phone. Phone. I need to find a phone.
