Realistic or Modern Horror Hotel ~A Vacation Gone Horribly Wrong~

"To The Recipent,

As a celebration of the grand opening of Golden Crown Resort & Spa, we are giving select people a chance to have a luxury stay at our hotel for free! Inside, there is a wristband for every member of your family. Your trip begins this Saturday, and we hope to see you there!"

You receive this letter in the mail as well as a set of wristbands and address information. You don't recall new construction but can't pass up a luxury stay. Pack your bags, you're about to experience a vacation you won' forget...if you survive.

"O-M-G, Rosie! I can't believe we're going to Golden Crown resort! I've heard it's, like, party central!" Kimi exclaimed excitedly as she threw her clothes into her suitcase.

"I'm glad your so excited, sis" Rosie replied as she was folding her clothes rather than tossing them in. "I'm sure it'll be great. There's a lot of stuff to do there, and free breakfast, which saves money."

"Free breakfast?!" Kimi jumped up and down. "Awesome!!" She slammed her suitcase shut after packing her necessities, clothes, toothbrush, iPod, the usual. "Let's get going then!"

"Hold on, Kimi. Don't you forget? It's only Friday night. We have to drive there, and will still arrive a bit too early."

"Yea, whatever. I'll be in the car!" Kimi said, grabbing her suitcase and backpack, and settling in on the passenger's side.

15 minutes later, they were off, and by the time the stars came out, Kimi was fast asleep, while Rosie ate an energy bar. They finally arrived at around 6 o clock in the morning

Ivory gripped the invitation in her hand, her eyes lingering on the last few words. The scare factor was definitely at the level of "Ominous" as of now and she couldn't rightly pass up a free invitation to something, let alone something that focused solely on her career of choice. She had placed her luggage in her assigned room and had retired to the main lobby to question some employees on their future scare tactics, suffice to say that she was content with this. It would all be fine.

As the family boarded their flight from Philadelphia to San Fransisco, America couldn't help but notice that her wife, who was sitting in the seat next to her, seemed troubled.

"Cheer up," she said, reaching over and grabbing Aurelia's hand in a comforting gesture. "It's only for a week. The company won't crash and burn before we get back."

"I know, but..." Aurelia trailed off with a sigh, shaking her head. The company may not completely implode with her gone, but there were still all manner of things that could go wrong. She didn't like to think that her coworkers were idiots, but they kinda were. And with Ian on vacation with them as well, who was going to fix technical problems if they came up? Aurelia voiced all of these concerns to her wife, who listened intently.

"They all have phones. They'll call you if something goes wrong. Just try and take this time to relax, Aurelia. At least for Avyanna, if not for yourself."

Aurelia glanced over at the next two seats, where Ian, her best friend sat beside her daughter, who had immediately claimed the window seat upon reaching their row. Currently, Ian was honoring the child's request that he show her how to work every app and button on his phone. A small smile lit up Aurelia's face. For as long as she's known Ian, it had always been hard for him to talk to people, but he'd always put forth great effort to be good to Avyanna.

"Alright, I'll try," she said finally, leaning her head on America's shoulder. Once they reached San Fransisco, she would make her best attempt to put all work matters behind her. Still, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to go very wrong. But, as America would say, that was probably just her being paranoid.

By about noon that day, they had arrived in San Fransisco.

"California?" Jade Barlow asked aloud, a suspicious letter from the Golden Crown Resort and Spa in hand. Jade was currently residing on a ranch in Arizona, doing some hard labor in exchange for free room and board. It was a nice set up, thrown together through her dad's social networking. Arizona was nice, but the heat was getting to her, and there wasn't a lake around for miles. "Huh..." She thought, rereading the letter. The serendipity of it all astounded her. She let out a low and approving whistle.

"Well, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth! Looks like I'm headed to California!" Jade decided in an instant with her signature toothy grin. She decided to start packing and set off right after letting the ranch owner know. Jade was always a good worker, he wouldn't mind if she left for a week or two.

Kathrine sat at the edge of her bed in her Hotel room 13 floor 4. This gave her a very creepy vibe, the number 13 was always a symbol of bad luck even though she didn't belive in that nonsense it was enough to make her skin crawl. Many building have multiple floors including four but this was different somehow...Katy knew in east Asia the number four was connected to the underworld, where crossroads would lead to the underworld because of the four lanes, hospitals skipped room and floor 4....

Katharine sighed it was not helping her emotionally to think about this stuff, so she decided to go out and see the rest of the hotels attractions. She stood waiting for the Hellevator (( Caugh )) elevator.

Ivory Dunwell:

Well, wasn't this interesting? Ivory tapped her phone multiple times, impressed by the sudden "loss of connection" that had occurred upon her arrival here. She wasn't idiotic, perhaps slightly, and she had done enough research on this place to know that something was wrong with the perfect facade and automatically chipper reviews on their website, what was more was the stoic expression on a large portion of the employee's faces, they all blatantly ignored her and those who deemed to answer her all responded in a few mechanical words. This was definitely becoming unnerving.

The resort was simply magnificent - or at least, it appeared to be at first. The place was enormous, and the architecture was more ornate and expensive-looking than anything that any of them had ever seen. This was saying something, on Aurelia's end, considering all of the high-end hotels that the company had paid for her to stay in on all of her numerous business trips. Avyanna was totally in awe from the moment America pulled into the parking lot in their rented car, excitement radiating off her daughter in waves. To start, all had seemed to be off to a fairly promising start.

However, once they were all settled in, the family realized that the Golden Crown had its fair share of problems. Ian had been the first to notice the lack of Internet and cellphone connection within the confines of the building. This discovery had, understandably, had brought Aurelia's anxiety back tenfold; with no way to communicate with her coworkers, she had no way of knowing that the place hadn't exploded, or run into financial ruin since she left the state. Wanting to calm her wife's distress, and quite admittedly, slightly pissed off about the service quality, America had offered to call the whoever was in charge on their room's phone, when she made another interesting discovery - there wasn't one.

As the two women stayed upstairs to discuss their plan of action, Ian found himself in charge of watching Avyanna. Aurelia had asked him to take her down to the lobby and find something for her to do. He had wanted to protest, as the thought of being alone with a child in the crowded lobby was hardly appealing to an introvert such as himself, but one look from America had silenced him.

On the up side, the child seemed to be content with just sitting beside him on one of the couches in the lobby's sitting area. He watched the look of naive amazement on her face as she watched all manner of people walk by, occasionally pointing to one of them and making a comment about their appearance. It was charming, to say the least, but Ian desperately wished that his phone's wireless were up and running. He didn't at all miss not being able to communicate - quite the opposite, actually. They could fix their own damn problems for a week. But he missed the sense of protection from the world that being able to stare into his phone screen had given him.

Oh well, he resigned himself with a defeated internal sigh, forcing himself to smile as Avyanna giggled over a woman wearing a strange hat (the last thing he wanted was for the child to think that she was the one making him uncomfortable. The blame for that fell on literally everyone else.). The only thing to do would be to bear with it until the two women came to join them.

Kathrine entered the elevator nervously it wasn't until she pressed a button for the lobby that she noticed the creepy mannequin curator behind glass in the elevator wall. She immediately turned to get out but the door wouldn't open as the elevator started its decent down.

<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_07/57a8c38d52285_eHNkN2FiMTI_o_doctorwho2005s05e02thebeastbelow720phdtvx264-fov.jpg.bef7b838584b455998fa53e9cdb8ef38.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="64218" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_07/57a8c38d52285_eHNkN2FiMTI_o_doctorwho2005s05e02thebeastbelow720phdtvx264-fov.jpg.bef7b838584b455998fa53e9cdb8ef38.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

The elevator floor number stopped at floor one but the elevator itself hadn't stopped and continued to speed downwards. Katharine held onto the railing, tears streaming down her face, she was terrified and things only got worse as the numbers changed a to a demonic 666 and the mannequin changed.

<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_07/maxresdefault.jpg.1166648bbc6ed6e7e9983dc6aa9f3595.jpg" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="64219" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2015_07/maxresdefault.jpg.1166648bbc6ed6e7e9983dc6aa9f3595.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

Seeing this only made her cry and scream more as the elevator rapidly descended before stopping abruptly. Instantly crushing her legs up to her thighs, her arms ripped off as they were attached to the railing firmly. screaming and crying in a puddle of broken bones and blood Katharine was on the verge of passing out, she welcomed death to free her from this nightmare, but nothing happened she continued to scream, unable to even close her eyes as the elevator started heating up molding her body to the metal floor before slowly burning her flesh.

Katharine blinked as she realized where she was. The frightened girl stood outside the elevator in the lobby, looking back at the horrifying elevator there were no signs of the mannequin or of the events she thought to have taken place.

Shaken and scared Katharine sat down on one of the lobby couches crying and shaking.

It could have been worse. It certainly could. In fact, Ivory was certain that she had created worse from the mere imagination of her mind and with that being said, she wasn't at all terrified.

Not one bit.

With this being said, Ivory was surprised no one else had noticed the clown standing directly outside. They had all continued on as if it hadn't even been occurring, Ivory was certain she wasn't going insane. Mainly because that would be insane. She ignored the banging created from the clown repetitively beating the glass, she ignored the muffled screeching coming from said source, and ultimately ignored her body's protest to run.

She breathed.

She blinked.

And then, the clown was gone.

Well shit, this place was haunted.

"Whoa, dude, are you okay?" Kimi ran off from Rosie after seeing the frightened girl on the couch. She needed someone to talk to after arriving, and why not the one girl who showed a different emotion than the rest.

Rosie rolled her eyes slightly after stepping into the elevator to their room. There wasn't anything strange other than the eerily still man who pushed the buttons.

(Btw when I said mannequin like I didn't exactly mean it literally but that works too :P )

"Hello! Welcome to the Golden Crown Resort and Spa. Sign in at the front desk, and let one of our bell boys take your luggage. My name is Mary Smith, if you need any help or have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. At Golden Crown Resort and Spa, every stay is Golden!"

(*How I'm imagining said creepy staff people*)

"Oh, uhm thank you!" Jade smiled at Mary Smith and rubbed the back of her head, not used to being waited on. All creepy vibes flew right over her head. "Alright, I'll get right to that. Signing in... front desk..." She repeated Mary's instructions so as not to forget them, and dragged her luggage through the impeccably clean front room of the resort. "Hi!" She finally made it to the desk with all of her bags and bundles. The woman at the front desk turned around to greet her.

"Hello!" The woman behind the desk greeted Jade with a giant and unnatural smile plastered onto her face. "Welcome to the Golden Crown Resort and Spa. Sign in here, and let one of our bell boys take your luggage. If you need any help or have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. At Golden Crown Resort and Spa, every stay is Golden!"

"Uhm, hi! Yes I'd like a room here, preferably close to a pool or fitness center." Jade was blown away by the uniform happiness of every staff member.

"Thank you, enjoy your stay here. Let one of our bell boys take your luggage. If you need any help or have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. At Golden Crown Resort and Spa, every stay is Golden!" The woman behind the desk droned in the same fake voice as before. While Jade stood looking at the strange, mannequin-like woman (holding herself back from poking the woman in the face, just to be sure she was real), two bell boys took the luggage from her hands and up to her room. Which, by the way, was no where near the pool or fitness center.

Instead of being creeped out by the robotic staff, Jade didn't notice their scary aura, and was just annoyed with hearing the same sentences over and over again. "Kay." She growled at the woman and took her room key. Turning around, she saw the cutest little blonde girl she'd ever seen in her life! The angelic little girl was pointing at Jade and giggling. It made Jade smile. "Hi sweetheart!" Jade smiled and walked over to her, and who she assumed was her dad. "You think my hat's funny?"

Crying. Ivory didn't do crying but the girl was sobbing somewhat violently, she glided across the floor before leaning downwards. "Um, I couldn't help but notice that your face was doing the thing that people do when they're sad and I need you to not do it anymore." Right. That should comfort her. Way to go, Ivory.

@TerrinX

Katharine looked up at Ivory and tried to stop crying, obviously holding it in and failing miserably "I..I'm ok love....Just..seeing things..." She managed to get out before her voice failed. She tried to control her breathing and calm down which seemed to help a bit.

Ian watched in mild horror as the girl in the hat approached them. He had been hoping to avoid any actual confrontations with people, but it looked like that was already falling apart. Avyanna, on the other hand, was absolutely thrilled.

"Hi sweetheart!" the young woman greeted the little girl. "You think my hat's funny?"

"Mm-hm!" Avyanna nodded with an excited little squeal, happy for the attention. Then her face became suddenly serious. "But it looks pretty on you," she added, remembering what her parents had taught her about being rude. "You're really pretty!"

Ivory Dunwell

The elegant lilt of the girl's words concluded that she was of European descent, Ivory also realized that she was stunningly beautiful. Ivory had only come across a select few Europeans in her life and they had all been conventionally beautiful, funny that. She inwardly felt a surge of relief at the girl seeing things, despite how rude that may seem, as she had started to believe she was insane. "Ah, I am seeing things as well if that helps, I believe that we are in an area where supernatural occurrences happen often. It would be advisable to allow someone to accompany you often."

(Frigging creepy homeslice, frigging creepy.)

The cute little blonde girl giggled at Jade's hat again, which just warmed up her heart. "But it looks pretty on you!" She added politely, "You're really pretty!"

Jade bent down to the sweet kid, "Well I'm not half as pretty as you, Princess! It looks like your daddy raised you with manners. Here, let's see if this hat looks just as funny on you!" She took the big old hat off of her head, and placed it onto the little blonde. It was entirely too big, the brim covering her tiny face entirely! (@NimbusTheCat )

"Love...I appreciate your words but I'm alright...I'm just...A little shaken up is all..." she said quietly.."I was stopping by...I'm going to the airport tomorrow to meet my mum back in Ireland..." She rambled trying to get past the horrifying events that haunted her moments ago.

@Annabella

Avyanna giggling increased in volume as she reached up with a tiny hand to lift the edge of the hat's brim from over her eyes, beaming brightly at being referred to as "princess."

"Oh, he's not my daddy," she replied, pointing at Ian, who really just wanted the whole thing to be over with already. "That's my Uncle Ian. Well, he's not really my uncle, just mommy' friend, but I call him uncle because I love him!" At that, she hugged her "uncle," who patted her small hat-covered head.

"And I love you," he assured her quietly, trying to avoid having to make eye contact and/or speak with the stranger.

"Very well, if you are sure." Ivory stood upright, wondering of the possibilities which revolved around her potentially leaving the hotel and deciding that, due to circumstances, she would possibly be prevented by some hidden force. "I suppose I shall be seeing you.."

@TerrinX

Katy grabbed onto Ivory's wrist "Please....Dont go...I.." She said still shaking slightly, something wasn't right here, Mirages or not Katharine didn't feel stable enough to be alone at the moment.

Ivory Dunwell

Ivory flinched at the sudden touch, she usually refrained from contact with people but today was an exception in honour to the weird circumstances surrounding this hotel. She sat down beside the girl, observing the staff passing them before feeling a sudden shiver run through her spine. "I apologize if you are unnerved but it would be advisable to not exploit it in front of the staff, I am Ivory, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and I assure you that I will sit here if it comforts you."

@TerrinX

Jade totally doesn't realize that Uncle Ian is uncomfortable, so she keeps the conversation going. "Well it seems like you're a great uncle!" She beams at the quiet man, a small blush dusting her cheeks. Hey! What can she say? Every girl loves a man who's good with kids. And this one's even cute, too-- "Oh, sh--" Jade looks down at the little kid, remembering to censor herself, "SH--sh... She has probably tried to call me," Jade (not so) deftly saves, pulling out her cell phone. She promised her mom that she'd call once she got to the hotel. Her mom was always worried that Jade was going to get raped or shot or mugged or get stuck in a haunted hotel, or something stupid like that. It felt to Jade like her mom called her 1,000 times a day.

Flipping open her cell phone and seeing no calls, something felt wrong. No missed calls? That's not right... She should probably call and make sure her mom is alright. "Hey, excuse me, I'm going to head to my room and get settled in for a little while." She smiled at her new little friend and her uncle, "You can wear the hat a little while longer sweetie, I'm sure we'll see each other around soon!" Jade grinned and patted the girl's head, only pushing the hat deeper over the little one's small head. "See you!" She smiled at Ian with a smirk before departing to one of the hotel's many elevators.

Jade waited for the elevator to arrive after pressing the button, and when the door opened, it revealed two young women. One was on the floor, wiping away tears, and the other seemed to be comforting her. "Um..." Jade felt bad and wanted to help, intruding on the stranger's problems, "Is there... something wrong?"
