HORIZON, USA

This beautiful secluded paradise utopic-looking town has a secret. Don't they all?

There has been a suicide. Not one of those tragic random ones that you see on the news, to experience a brief moment of sadness before carrying on about your day. No, this one hits hard. This one hurts. A sweet soul by the name of Millie Wright was found in the Cold Pines, in which the town was founded on for their pine resources. A series of seemingly limitless pine trees and forest surrounding the town outside the coast that has a rich history and ties back into the medieval days. Millie Wright was a 14 year old girl with down syndrome, and was the kindest and purest thing this universe has to offer. So much so that even bullies among Horizon would often stop when they saw Millie walking the sidewalk to make sure she's has a bite to eat and is taken care of. Millie was an orphan of an abusive father and alcoholic mother that left the town when Millie was young, the poor girl subject to beatings and assault. Her aunt took her in but died from cancer in 2015. So Millie was assigned to an orphanage, but was well loved and taken care of by Horizon. And then that day happened. November 12th, 2017. She was found unconscious with an illegal substance on her person. The girl who always smiled at every benevolent and also nasty soul that passed her way. The same girl that randomly plucked flowers from the Earth and gave it to random residents, not knowing such a small act would save their miserable days. She wasn't just a citizen, Millie represented the light of mankind in a reclusive and secluded town. A town built on blood, past evils. Secrets. There are some who reel at the reality, but there are also a few who know better. That Millie would never. That something else is afoot. Not one time did Millie ever wander off into the Pines alone. The worst crimes in recent memory were thefts, maybe domestic disputes. But this, this was a meteor to the community.

And then the fucking new girl had to move into Millie's old house. When the arrival of outsiders hits the town, a moving flux of revealing secrets, mysterious anomalies, unexpected alliances, unexpected foes, and a town hiding more than just a city inside water and trees, the Truth of Horizon will start to be discovered. But, what side of the truth will be embraced?

The tone for this RP will be a mashup of 13 Reasons Why and Riverdale. Or if you're into video games, Life is Strange without the superpower aspect.

• Obviously from the description graphic themes and adult situations will be a big part of the RP. Suggestive themes as well. This RP will be a clash of drama between characters in a mix of alliances vs enemies, community vs self. The plot will focus on a group of young & notable characters in the town of Horizon dealing with the town's loss while adding that young adult drama with a ton of other shifting things going on in the city and characters. My character is the new girl and her family are the newcomers and outsiders in town, making her a target of interest. I will need characters such as son/daughter(s) of the sheriff, mayor, even teachers or townsfolk. Of course you're free to play the older characters as such, or even your own characters, but the RP will focus mostly on the young characters.
• Romance is encouraged to drive even more drama into the RP of relationships and loyalties of people and friends.
• I'm thinking about 4-5+ people for this to get started.
• Slice of Death is somewhat the antithesis of Slice of Life. The latter is meant to focus on everyday realistic themes, while the former is meant to embody the mortality of the individual, not necessarily through death or murder, but through circumstantial themes.
• I really hope this gets interest because I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. I accept Co-GM's as well as players
• IF anyone has any ideas/suggestions to add to the plot, or wants to play a specific character just be sure to inform me.
• IF YOU AREN'T A LONG TERM RPer, LEAVE NOW. I VALUE COMMITMENT.

Spoiler: RULES

1. The main one. Respect RPN and its rules.

2. Any questions or intrigue about the plot or story come to me! I love hearing ideas even if we don't incorporate them.

3. OOC will be friendly and respectful. IC be extra and add flair all you'd like BUT...

4. BE REASONABLE. Realistically adapt and grow into characters and make logical choices.

5. I do not mind if you guys subplot romance. Just keep it PG-13.

6. Try to have UNIQUE characters. For some reason people love power based or martial arts based characters. In a crowd full of office workers, be a Micheal Scott.

7. MATURE Rpers only. Note I said mature, which isn't judged by age. I know teenagers volumes more mature than 40+ year olds. Be mindful and very respectful of the nature of this RP, yes of course IC play true to the plot and characters but I ask for those who can respect the nature of such stories like this.

8. If you cannot post due to IRL or other reasons please post in consideration of everyone else. I'm interpreting this RP to go relatively fast pace wise not too speedy, so if you need assistance ask and you shall receive! And...

9. If you do fall too far behind or get in a hole you cant climb out of that doesn't mean you're done for. Unless you're intentionally a jerk or going against the tide of the plot, you can get back up to pace.

10. If you band together, or fight amongst each other IC, coordinate with each other as I will be overseeing those situations with a final outcome, but stay true to character and traits. Don't force it just because of drama.

11. HAVE FUNNNNNNNN!!!!!

12. This is a VERY real based RP. NO CARTOON or ANIME pics whatsoever. Digital Art and Realistic Concept Art are acceptable as well as real face claims and pictures.

13. Now, if you read, accept, and understand all rules: At the end of your CS phase, write a sentence mentioning a favorite comic book character in a fashion that would be true to your character. !! REMEMBER THIS RULE !!

As it sounds really. My guy lived in the town during, last of his formative years though left during his mid teens with his family to live abroad. During that time abroad he has risen to fame as a singer. Upon hearing of the murder, he returns home as Millie was a a friend or adoptive relation or other.

i do have a couple ideas bouncing around my head for that extra character too though. one in particular~ along the lines of a latin female with fire in her eyes, a close connection to the orphanage, and still volunteers there (among other places) and whom has a surprisingly hard time introducing herself to new people despite her kind face. ??
