Realistic or Modern Hoover Street

Event Posting: First Day of Freshman Year

All Characters will be entering Silver Stone High School for the FIRST Time. No one has been in the school before.

It was a cool Monday morning when school started up again. There was almost no sound coming from Hoover Street except the gentle blowing of the wind. Near the end of the street, a gray house sat quietest of all as Ryan slowly shuffled around the house all alone. He had taken a shower and dressed for the day. But, he hadn't gotten much sleep and anyone could tell by looking at him. Ryan looked around his room and grabbed his book bag. He headed down the stairs and put coffee on the stove. Ryan looked out of the front of his house down the street where they others houses sat.

Tessa shivered at the cold air that blasted her as soon as she exited her bedroom. Uncle Trey really needed to turn the heater in every so often. Rubbing her bare arms, Tessa padded into the kitchen where she found her uncle sitting at the table. Reading glasses sat perched on his nose, a news paper in his hands. His blonde hair was messy and his face unshaven. "Morning." Tessa smiled, grabbing a box of cereal from the cabinet and pouring it into a bowl.

"Good morning, kiddo. First day of school, huh?" Trey sat his newspaper down and took off his glasses. Tessa nodded as she poured milk into her cereal and sat down to eat it,"Yup. Not too worried though, I've got the others." Tessa smiled at her uncle. Trey nodded, placing his glasses back on his face and returning to his newspaper. Tessa had nothing to be worried about, everything would be fine. Right? Steel blue eyes trailed out the window at the street beyond.

Zen rubbed his face groggily and shivered. It was cold, especially after the summer. He sighed as he put on a hoodie and quietly moved through the house so that he wouldn't wake his parents. He opened the cabinet, grabbing a jar of jelly and winced as the door slammed shut, a bit louder than he'd've liked. He tried to make up for it by making sure the toaster didn't fling the lever upwards, and shivered again as he spread jelly on the toast.

Oh boy, it was cold. Christine shivered as she stretched, blinking away the last of her tiredness. If she was right, it was the first... was it? The first day of school. She was so not ready for this. She sighed as she grabbed a nearby brush and tried to calm down her already weird bed head, and hopped straight into the shower and out again in less than ten minutes. There wasn't much time to spare; she still had breakfast to eat! She yawned as she went downstairs, seeing her older brother cooking breakfast: sunny side ups and bacon. She smiled, smelling the delicacy.

"Mmm, those for me?"

"Maybe." He chuckled as he grabbed a plate and put a piece of bacon and eggs in it and handed it to Christine to eat. She smiled in thanks, already sitting on a chair and sampling her brother's cooking skills, seeming to forget that it was the first day of school... ah hell, now she remembered.

"Amanda! Give me my brush right now!" she yelled after her sibling, chasing her down the hall. She grabbed it from her and tore through her hair as best she could before walking back into her room to find another one of her sisters trying on her clothes.

"Nicole, get out of my room," she said sternly. As the younger girl fled, she grabbed her hat and jacket off of her and tossed it onto her bed with a sigh. She heard yelling from the bathroom and jogged over to find her brothers Adam and James fighting over who had gotten to the bathroom first. She yanked one of them out, not caring which one, and the door was slammed and locked. James, the one she pulled out, pouted with his arms crossed at the door waiting. She walked to her own room with her own bathroom and brushed her teeth before getting dressed and heading down stairs. The kitchen was in constant motion, four little pairs of hands reached for what they wanted as well as the two big ones of her parents. She jumped in and made a bowl of cereal, drinking a bit of the milk out of the carton before passing it on. She ate as fast as she could and jumped up, grabbing her bag and getting outside as fast as she could, throwing on her hat and leather jacket on as she left, her necklace jangling at her chest.

Organized. Chaos.

Ryan made his way outside to the bus stop at the corner with a large cup of extremely dark coffee. He had gone through have the cup and felt more awake although not peppy at all. Ryan sighed deeply at the headache that was sure to come and put his bag down. He sat on one of the three small benches on the corner and looked back at his house. It was far too quiet for his liking there and the loneliness was heavy in the air. But, he'd never tell anyone that. Ryan checked the time on his phone and saw there was plenty of time until the bus came. Soon he would be surrounded by those he had known since his childhood.

Tessa glanced at the time on her phone as she finished off her cereal. Plenty of time to get to the bus stop. She jumped up from the table, her bowl and spoon clattering into the sink. "Bye, Uncle Trey! See ya!" Tessa threw over her shoulder as she plucked up her backpack and headed out the door. Trey King just laughed lightly and waved at her from his spot at the table.

Upon arriving at the bus stop, Tessa spotted Ryan sitting on a bench. Smiling, she flung herself over the back of it and sat down beside him. "Morning, dude."

Ryan raised an eyebrow at Tessa and wondered for a moment if he should have a brought a book with him. He set aside his nearly empty cup of coffee and angled himself to face her. Ryan figured he should try to make an effort to become more close to the other kids. Even after all these years, he still stuck to himself lone wolf style.

"Hello Tess. Looking to join the Girl's Basketball Team this year?" Ryan had played basketball with Tess a few times while growing up and was good at the game himself.

@Iskolde

Zen finished the toast and ran water over the knife he used before he looked out the window. He saw Tess and Ryan, and sighed slightly. He'd gone to school with them for a while, but hadn't really clicked with any other kids. He grabbed his bag and stepped out the door and watched his step as he walked over to the bus stop. The last thing he needed was to fall in front of the neighborhood.

Rosalie had already been on a long morning jog, taken a shower and eaten breakfast when it was time to go. Her outfit was carefully picked out, her makeup was flawless, her hair was curled and her heels were sky-high. She knew she looked good. Somehow, it made her feel powerful and better than everyone else. Then she walked out of her house with her head high, feeling fabulous and ready for the new year.

Tessa shrugged at Ryan's question. "I don't know, maybe." She shoved her phone in her skinny jeans pocket and sighed,"What are you planning on doing? Extracurricular wise, I mean." She asked him, nonchalantly. Glancing and waving at Zen as he exited his home.

Zen glances up at Tessa, and waves back. As he approaches the bench, a small smile slides across his face, and he sits on the end of the bench, setting his bag on the ground.

Ryan gave a small, noncommittal wave to Zen and groaned as a headache came on. He tried to chase it away by focusing on what Tess had asked.

"I might join the Basketball team myself. Also looking into band, I've always loved music. How about you, Zen?"

Zen blinked, caught off-guard. "Um, I'm not sure... I might do SGA, but I'm not really good at leadership. I guess I'll look into whatever clubs they have."

Tessa grinned at Ryan,"If you do basketball, I'll do basketball." She glanced over at Zen giving him a grin as well,"SGA, huh? That's not really my thing, but I think you'd be good at it. Maybe you could do something a little more reserved, like, I don't know, chess club or something." She shrugged. Her random blabbering probably wasn't helping much, she didn't even know what she was talking about.

Zen smiled, slightly. "Ah, I don't like chess. I dunno, though. But, you guys should do basketball. I mean, I like watching basketball, and now I'd have a reason to care about the players."

"Hm. I guess your doing Basketball then Tess." Ryan said with a smirk and turned to Zen. "You don't have to join a club if your not ready for it."

"True, but I want to get a life. I hope you guys make the basketball team. I bet you'd do great." Zen smiled, and self-consciously ran his fingers through his hair.

"Maybe. We'll have to see at tryouts." Ryan said with a smirk on his face and drained the rest of his coffee. He had a bad feeling about drinking so much black coffee, but that didn't stop him from doing it.

Zen smiled back, and looked up and down the street, before beginning to crack his knuckles. He felt a slight bit jittery. He always did on the first day of school. He was surprised that he was alert after last night, because he could never fall asleep the night before the first day.

Tessa nodded, glancing down the street as the boys talked. She figured basketball would be okay, she probably wouldn't make Varsity but it was worth a try. Tessa's converse clad feet patted rhythmically against the cement below her to a random tune in her head. She wasn't worried about school, or anxious at all, really she could take care of herself and she knew that. "When d'ya think the bus'll be here? My guess is, it'll be pretty late. Old Man Tim drives super slow."

Zen shrugs, a smile still on his lips. "You say that about him, but he's kept his license all these years, even after the Model T went out of style." He brings his arms up, to defend from anyone swatting at him, and chuckles. "I know, I know, my jokes suck."
