Realistic or Modern Home For The Troubled and Exotic

DisasterCallingMe

Typical Reject
Lost Girl Maddie submitted a new resource:

Home For The Troubled and Exotic - Kids with supernatural powers that aren't accepted by society.

Teens with special abilities no one else in the world has. There are only about twelve of them in the home, but they are still some of the most dangerous people on the planet. Some people want to get rid of them, and make it to where they have to be kept in a locked facility. Others think they should be treated like equals, and that they are just the start of the next human race.
*~* Based around X-Men if you haven't already noticed *~*

Tyler~

The room around me spun, flames spiraling everywhere. The smoke felt comforting in my lungs, but everyone around me seemed to be struggling for breath. My mothers eyes watered, and I watched curiously as confusion rushed through me. Why was she so scared? Did they not feel the same pleasure as I when the fire ignited from my bones? My arms were covered in the bright orange flames as they licked at anything that came near me. Death was surrounding me as the flames coursed through the small house, but all I could feel was alive. Alive with smoke in my lungs, and that burning sensation washing over me.

I awoke with a gasp, feeling as if I were choking on air. I had fallen asleep in the small library again, the same nightmare I always had rushing back. The book that I had held was now burnt at the edges, and I let out a sad sigh. Even in my sleep I can't control this retched curse. No one else seemed to be around, so I shoved the book into my rucksack and stood to leave the library. A few kids sat in the lounge area, but I passed by them and headed straight towards the large kitchen. The home housed about twelve kids all together, all mutants of some sort. I was the most normal out of some of them, if anyone here could be considered normal. I looked like the average, short teenage girl. Some people here were way different, like their outsides were also mutated.

My thoughts were cut short as I opened the fridge and the milk came tumbling out. "God dammit." Someone had left the lid off and didn't push it back far enough. Probably one of the damn ignorant boys, I thought glumly to myself as I grabbed some paper towels to clean up the mess. I could hear others out side the kitchen, and people talking, but I tried not to. I tried to keep to myself as well as I could. I didn't want to get close to anyone here in fear that they might one day leave me or worse, that I would hurt them.

After cleaning the milk mess, I grabbed a granola bar and some soda before heading out back to sit in the grass. I felt more calm out in the cold, winter air, especially as the sun went down. I loved watching it because it made me feel like that even the greatest of fires could burn out. I sat away from the other teens that were lounging outside, and instead pulled the charred book from my bag. I had been reading Fairest, my favorite book. Now it was practically destroyed because I had to have that stupid nightmare again.

"This is utterly ridiculous," Alvientus said as he watched in a mixture of disbelief and disappointment, his tongue ran along the rows of massive sharp teeth as he spoke "what in God's name will this accomplish?"

Everex ignored him, they were both sitting at a table in the library while she stared at her metallic thigh with enthusiasm.

"Al, you have to learn how to throw caution to the wind once in a while and just go for it."

"No, that part I understand... what I don't get is why this specifically is so necessary that you'll risk having to replace a whole limb for."

"Well... it's actually more along the lines of trying new things you know? I have to see what works or not."

"Your current body seems to be doing you well." Alvientus says as he pops open the book in his lap and began running his hands along the braille on it.

"Oh Al, you of all people should know that change doesn't have to be a bad thing."

"Whatever," He said as he turned to the side and scratched at the black cap that covered the majority of his head.

Suddenly a small ringing noise sounded and Everex grew excited before reaching to her thigh and sliding off the metallic covering.

There was a an easy cook burrito laying inside a microwave that had been integrated into her thigh.

"Why couldn't you take it out somewhere where we are allowed to have snacks!?!" Alvientus asked as he glanced around.

"Not many places that wouldn't make me seem suspicious for sitting and doing nothing for so long." Everex replied as she studied the burrito a bit "We wouldn't want to get in trouble now would we?"

Taking the hint, Alvientus sighed before snatching the burrito from her hands and stretching his jaw wide. He dropped the burrito in a single move before closing his maw and chewing on it a bit before swallowing.

"Satisfying, but I still don't see the necessity of it." he said as he patted his stretched lips for crumbs.

"I can assure you that a lot of people would love to have a microwave with them 24/7"

"If you say so." Alvientus said before standing up "I guess I'll leave you to your devices. I don't think I have the patience for you to install a bloody network connection into you."

With that he headed off to wander.

Everex shook her head at Alvientus' departure before sliding her thigh compartment closed and getting up as well.

Let's see what other things she could cook on the go.

With that she made her way to the kitchen.

Aiden looked behind him and saw that the car was already gone. Well, too late to go back now. He picked up his guitar case and put the strap over his shoulder, grabbed both of his suitcases, but hesitated before walking forward. "Come on man, there's a reason you're going here. No need to be nervous." He looked down at his arm and frowned slightly. Aiden took a deep breath and tightened his grip slightly with his left, normal hand. He slowly started walking towards the building and examined himself. He had his guitar case slung over his shoulder, and was holding two suitcases. He was wearing a black v-neck, dark jeans, a black hoodie, a pair of boots, and a ring which was worn around his neck by a necklace. "I look fine." He shook his head at himself before he walked up to the door and lightly knocked on it.

Tyler~

As my eyes peered around the room, I heard a knock at the door. I knew everyone else heard it by the way they tensed up, but no one seemed to have enough courage to open the door. Whoever it was, was probably getting impatient, so I decided to go open it. Granola bar still in hand, I wrenched open the front door, and came face to face with a boy much taller than I. I was about 5'2", and he had to be at least 6-foot. My face was level to his chest, so I had to look up to welcome him. My eyes grazed past his arms, but I pretended not to notice the one that looked a bit different.

"Uhm, Hi," I said softly, stepping to the side to let him in. "I'm guessing you need yo talk to whoever runs this place?" Once he stepped in I shut the door, and leaned awkwardly against it.

Aiden stepped into the building and looked around. It looked nice enough, clean, rather orderly, good in general. It was a little warmer than it was outside, so that was good too. He did his best to hide his arm, though it was difficult since there were people all around him. He looked behind him to the girl who had opened the door for him. He noticed that she had a granola bar in her hand, which amused him slightly. He must have caught her after she had been to the kitchen."Yeah, I do." He thought about rolling down his sleeve to cover up his arm, but decided against it, figuring that it would be good to build up a bit of confidence.

Deliha Mason, preferable known as Mace, had been locked in sleeps grasp until a loud ringing invaded her eardrums. Gasping, she bolts right out of what seems more like a nest of torn sheets and some odd feathers than a bed, and falls to the floor. The voices from downstairs, doors swinging open on old hinges, the smells, ugh the taste of dried blood on her lips, she could taste the salty tang, it made her sick to her stomach and oh GOD WHY WAS IT SO BRIGHT?! Mace groaned and hid her head in her hands, only to find that again, they had become claws in her sleep. Drawing her knees up to her, she kept her head hidden until she could control the senses that overpowered her. Satisfied when her hearing dimmed so the voices were mere mumbles, her sight return to near enough what human vision should be and her she could savor the aroma of food without wanting to get sick or taste the salt on her lips, she picked herself off the floor and took in her surrounds. She sighed when she saw what she had done to the bed and gathered the tattered bed clothes in her arms, taking care to hide her claws, which were slowly returning to normal hands again, she made her way down the unfamiliar stairs guided partly by her hazy memories of last night, and by her sense of hearing to find someone she could apologize to about the mess. Great going, first night here and you tear up the room. she continued to chaste herself in her head until she saw two people, a guy standing awkwardly holding his arm, and a girl, leaning up against the doorway. "Ummm.. excuse me?"

Tyler~

I was going to show him the way to the study, where I knew Antonio(Kind of like Xavier from X-Men) would be when a girl appeared. "Ummm.. excuse me?" she asked, and I forced a small smile. She looked nervous, and a bit confused, so I gave a small wave and polite 'hello'.

"Good morning," I said quietly, smile still intact. She was new also. I remembered seeing her arrive yesterday. "We were just about to go talk to Antonio, would you like to join?" I wasn't use to talking to so many people and being the social butterfly, but no one else seemed to be rushing to these two aid. I couldn't help but want to help people. It was the least I could do with my horrible karma.

Mace licked her lips quickly, a nervous habit, before flashing an awkward smile towards the pretty redhead, or was it auburn she couldn't tell. Opening her mouth to reply, she sucked in a stray feather causing her the splutter before answering her. "Ech, sorry!Oh eh yeah that'd be great but you see, I have a bit of a problem." She gestured towards the fabric mess in her arms. "Is there somewhere I can put these and hopefully get some new ones? I-It wasn't intentional." She cleared her throat and adverted her eyes to take in where she was. She normally wasn't this damn nervous but just being dropped off here late last night and now with a sea of unfamiliar faces, she was unusually nervous and a tad overwhelmed.

Alvientus had gone out the back and walked around the outskirts of the house a bit before the usual hunger set in. Automatically reaching into his pockets, Alvientus sighed when he realized he hadn't brought any due to his time spent in the library.

He sighed before making his way to the front of the house.

..............

Everex came out of the kitchen balancing a small pile of bagels in her arms. If she could get some wood and nails she could make a stand asn sell them. It was a cheesy idea she knew, but what better way to pass the time than by coming up with two bit schemes to make money?

She was passing through the entrance hall, but due to the bagels scurrying her vision, she bumped into someone sending her future product to the floor.

Pouting, the partially mechanical girl kneeled and began picking them up half-heartedly.

..............

At this very moment in time Alvientus approached the door, he grabbed the doorknob and pulled it open un enthusiastically.

Tyler~

"Yes, you can put them in the-" The door behind me opened suddenly, and I went tumbling backwards. Shock washed through my frame, and I landed harshly on my hands. Pain pierced through my body, and suddenly my heart was racing. Looking up, I saw Alvientus, one of the other residents that had been here almost as long as I. "I'm sorry!" I didn't know quite what I was apologizing for, but it felt right to do so. Crap. Why was I interacting with so many damn people? It felt unnatural, causing nervousness to wash over me. "Shit, sorry," I repeated, pushing myself up and examining my now scraped hands. They weren't too bad, but I could see the veins behind them pulsing rapidly. I wish I could calm myself before I was out of control. This always happened when I was taken off guard.

Alvientus looked sniffed the air as the sound of a person hitting the ground registered. Then came the voice.

"Ah...Tyler," he said as he ran a hand along his chin "I apologize for not knocking."

He took a whiff of the entrance hall, and could already tell that others were being attracted to the area... not really his cup of tea. If only he had eyes he could roll.

He stepped over Tyler and began walking towards the kitchen.

"Al?" Everex said as he passed "Could you help pick these up?"

Alvientus paused and walked back to her before kneeling and picking up two bagels.

He then stood up and devoured the bagels before bowing in appreciation and heading inside the kitchen.

Everex frowned as Al took his leave and glared after him a bit before softening and shrugging, she turned back and picked up the rest of the bagels before doing a head count.

Mace dropped the pile of tattered sheets in shock as another body collided with hers. For some reason this one smelled like a burrito. The sudden shock made her eyes flash but she forced her speeding heart rate down when she saw it was just another student.. who was very metallic. Mace knelt down and began to pick up the fallen bagels with her before clasping her hand back to her side. Her hands, which were normal and soft, had short but brutally sharp claws curved where her nails should be. "Awh damnit! I'm really sorry, here." Slowly she tried her best to gather some bagels in her hand, avoiding any other contact with her claws. Looking over at the other girl, she was surprised to see her inspecting some scrapes while another boy had just walked in, eaten two bagels and left again Oh Geez, more people. It's ok, just keep calm.I bet they are probably nice, and this one smells like burrito's so she cant be that bad.

"It's fine," Everex said as she finished checking the bagels "doesn't matter in the slightest anymore sis."

Everex pouted once more as she stood, only then did she have a look around at all the others in the hall as well.

"Oh, new guy." she said to herself as she studied the previously unseen guy "Eh, he'll fit in."

She shrugged before chuckling at an unsaid joke "If you all excuse me, I have to give Al a talking to in terms of polite interaction."

She then got an annoyed look as she followed after Al into the kitchen.

Tyler~

I waved slightly at Everex as she left the hallway, and turned back to the others. "Well, you met Everex and Alvientus," I pointed out. "There is a lot more where that came from." Then I nodded, gesturing for them to follow me. The study was just outside the library, where I spent most of my time, so I knew the way there by heart. "Antonio should be in his office if you two are still interested. He might be able to answer some of your questions."

((I'm gonna post a picture of Antonio in the overview))

Macie gathered up the sheets again making sure to cover her hands before nodding and following. "Sorry, but um, what's your name? Mines eh, you can call me Mace, or Macie, whichever you like." Stop apologizing, you'll be apologizing for breathing before you know it. Will Antiono be mad about the sheets?

Tyler~

"Nice to meet you, Macie," I replied with a small smile as I lead her and the boy to the study. "I'm Tyler. I've been here for quite some time, too." I don't know why I was telling them this, but it just felt right to make them feel comfortable. I know I was nervous when I first arrived here. I was one of the first ones. I didn't want them to feel as I had, so broken and devastated. "It's not so bad once you get use to things."

Aiden relaxed slightly after the scene calmed. He smiled slightly. Looks like he was actually actually surrounded by people like him. He followed the girl to 'Antonio'. He realized he hadn't introduced himself. "Aiden. Nice to meet you both."

"Quite some time? How long, do you mind if I ask?" She turned to face the other boy. "Aiden, hello. I'm guessing we're both new here."

Aiden offered a smile. "You'd be correct." He took note that neither of the girls had any physical changes, like him. He wondered what their abilities were, but decided against asking.

I gave Aiden a small smile in response, and answered Macie's question. "Well, since I was thirteen. So about four years..." I shrugged it off, not wanting to remember exactly why I was here. "Here we are." I gave a light knock on Antonio's door before cracking it a bit. The older man in his twenties sat at his desk, feet propped up, an old book opened in front of him. When his grayish-brown eyes looked up at us, he gave a small smile. I quietly introduced the two, and he welcomed us in.

Had it been any other situation, Macie might have thought he was checking them out, but seeing as they are new mutants like humans in a mutant like home, not to mention he had a rather strange looking arm, the more realistic idea is that he was looking for physical abnormalities in them. Before she could reply to him or Tyler, they were lead into an office before a young looking man whom she assumed was Antonio. She looked to Tyler before awkwardly stepping forward. "Sir, I'm sorry about these sheets, I still haven't.. adjusted yet."

Tyler~

I leaned against a back wall, staring at the scene as Antonio told Macie it was alright. It was kind of strange how well he got along with others, but I never questioned it. He was taking us in after all when no one else wanted us.

"It's fine," He told Macie, brushing over her worries with a wave of his hand. He swung his legs from his desk and stood to greet Aiden, shaking his hand and introducing himself. "I'm Antonio, and you must be new here." Then he turned back to Macie. "What was your name again?" I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms. It took him almost eight months to remember my name when I first got here.

"Deliha Mason.." She spoke with her voice no louder than a whisper, she didn't want to have any association with that name, that part of her life. She left the torn sheets in a corner Antonio directed, but still tried to hide her hands, folding them over themselves, it wasn't working well. They wouldn't go back to normal until she actually got settled here and got over that incident that happened a few nights ago. With a sigh she pushed them into her hoodie pockets, a little too hard because next thing she heard was the sound of more tearing fabric and a sharp sting of pain as her claws scratched her abdomen. With a low yelp she left her hands hang loosely by her sides, claws slightly smeared with blood.

"Oh, yeah, thats right," Antonio said, oblivious to the fact the girl was bleeding. I made the decision to approach her slowly, placing a hand on her shoulder. Antonio was too busy asking Aiden his mutation, and as much as I wanted to find out what it was, this girl needed help.

"Here, come with me," I said to her with a small smile. "We can bandage you up."
