It's a cold day in December. The wind is biting at our party's flesh as they wait inline for bus tickets. The seer remembers something being in Liverpool. He doesn't know where, yet, but I'm sure he'll figure something out. They take their tickets and pile into a large bus. They sit in the back. The Seer next to the Free Spirit, the Sage next to the Pacifist and the Brooding next to the Champion. They've got a three hour ride ahead of them.

Bri

❄ The Sage ❄
Bri clambered onto the bus bedecked in layers upon layers of clothing, from underneath her marshmallow jacket at least five layers of different atrociously colored sweaters could be seen. She struggled to cart her comically large duffel bag unto the bus - one could've wondered why, what with a metallic Hello Kitty bag already slung about her back - but it never hurt to be prepared! She was a little electric with nerves, but nothing shone through her polite smile to Piper, "I've always got one," she assured her, "and right now, it's about thinking things through on a full stomach," Bri zipped open her duffel bag which managed to produce the favorite snack of each of her friends within quick succession, she added in a few protein bars for Harper - he looked like he was going to need them, then again, wasn't he always that pale? "I've got a downloaded map of Liverpool, so, it shouldn't be too hard to get around once we know what to look for," she paused momentarily, her eyes slowly examining the seats ahead, "it's all just a bit of waiting for now." Though she was truly hopeful for the future of their friend and journey, her legs kicked slightly in absent-minded anxiety.

Everything is in Strength

Jackie Furnadjiev

Her leg had been bouncing the past hour for sure, not out of anxiety or fear, but simply unspent energy with nowhere else to go. Somehow it felt like she was shaking the whole bus, but that was probably just the bus. Over and over she carded a hand through her hair, staring at the blank webpage on her phone. When her mind felt especially crazy it was helpful to force it to stare at something boring, make it slow down a little. Or just make people think she was busy; she wasn't.
Jackie glanced around the bus at unfamiliar faces, scanning each one for the features that stood out the most, then looking over the emergency exit, quietly reading the instructions printed on the door. "Did you know there are at least 1,093 public bus crashes a year--at least?" she said almost entirely automatically, and not really to anyone in particular, just to whoever will listen.

Piper's eyes bounce up to the luggage compartment, she unclips her seatbelt and climbs up onto the leather pad. She slowly and carefully opens up the compartment and grabs her dark puffer jacket which she had brought just in case. She grabbed it, slipped her long arms through the sleeves, and zipped it up. She pulled the hooded over her stressed, pale face.

"Oh god, my mum is probably so scared. I left her a note, do you think that's enough?" Piper hoped that Bri would reassure her, she felt like Bri always had the answer.

She nervously, looked at the passengers which she didn't know. She was gonna spend the next 3 hours around them, hopefully they wouldn't be rude. In the front, she saw an odd figure. A man with matted, grey hair underneath a dark, ripped beanie. He was muttering something to himself. Piper felt sorry for him. She wondered what had happened in his life that led him to sitting alone on a London bus, with dirty hair, and a gloomy expression.

Bri

❄ The Sage ❄
"It's enough to let her know you're safe," Bri assured, if the troupe got into some deep-water - in this age, help was but a phone call away. Then again, the visions were a hard concept understand, and who knew how safe they really were running around cityscapes and countrysides to try to find whatever it was they were hoping to? Bri had thought it best to not call while the journey was underway, and she suspected Piper felt the same. Bri's brother was always a smooth-talker, and this wasn't the first time she had slipped off into oblivion. It was however, the first time Bri did it with an intention.
"The other blokes probably get worse end of the deal," she quipped to Jackie in reference of those not so fortunate enough to be in a large bus. She handed Jackie her pre-selected snack, perhaps trying to get her to focus on something other then horrific traumas that have befallen mass groups.

PIPER X FORESTER

Piper frowned as she looked around the bus. Each person looking more and more rockbottom than the last. A few rows ahead of her sat a shorter woman who appeared to be pregnant and a similar age to her. She had bleached blonde hair and spray-tanned skin which was heavily bruised on the shoulder.

She reached into her coat pocket and took out a small sandwich bag with some squashed up strawberries in it. She took one out and plopped it into her pursed lips. As she chewed, she noticed more traits of the woman.

The woman wore peeling lipstick which was the bright pink and smeared. She appeared to be wearing smokey eyeshadow, but Piper though it might have just been dark circles. Poorly done contour was drawn on her cheeks. It wasn't completely blended but it sorta suited her.

"Hey, Jackie, Bri. You ever just look at someone and wonder what their story is? I know people watching is rude, but it's hard not to." Piper mused as she finished her first strawberry.

Dinias 'Harper' Ito
Harper had been staring at the scenery outside the passing window, he was fond of looking out of the windows of moving vehicles he felt less nervous than he expected to be. While wanting dreadfully to stay awake, he felt under-slept and the prospects of dozing off were growing little by little. However, he was roused when Bri doled out all the snacks. He was not one to say no to a Jello cup, and quickly accepted the offer. "I forgot to eat breakfast today, what a sight for sore eyes." He pretended to wipe a single tear from his eye. He then quickly downed the entire cup in a matter of seconds. He then glanced around looking for a trashcan to throw away his garbage, there were none. He couldn't help but cast an astonished glance in Jackie's direction," Do...they really?" he was both amazed and terrified. So much for having faith in public transportation. Harper began to consider if napping was a good idea after all. He interjected his thoughts to the question," Considering recent events, it feels like I can't ever stop wondering what lives other people are living, and where they're going. It's easy to get sucked into it, wondering why people portray themselves in a particular way." He discreetly dumped his empty jello cup into his backpack.

Quinn smiled as he sat with Harper. This trip was going to be fun. Normally, Quinn wouldn't get to do this sort of stuff. Studying and training to get into the fancy pants music school was hard and he still hadn't reached it. At some points he felt like giving up but his Dad and friends all believed that he could do it. He was happy that they loved him so much. He couldn't see life without them which was why they had to do this for Harper. Though Quinn spent his time being the happy-go-lucky guy in the group, he really cared and wanted all his friends to be happy and overcome any challenge that faced them. He had to keep happy for them.

He looked to Harper, "Don't eat too fast though. You don't want to get sick and I don't want to have to clean up a mess, especially when I'm tired." He smiled and turned to Jackie, "Don't try to scare me Jackie. Stuff like that is hard hitting. Besides there are bigger things we all should worry about like the economy and politics." Quinn then realised how serious he was getting and had to lighten up, "But now's not the time for that. We're here to kick ass, fuck bitches and take money!" He punched the air. It was clear to see that Quinn had a certain flare for the dramatic.

She ripped the plastic covering off of the protein shake Bri gave her. She knows me so well, Jackie thought, chugging it down immediately. "Yes we are, Quinn, yes we are." She highfived him mid-sip.
"I actually play this game where I make up stories for strangers I see. You see that tired guy, proper disheveled with the beanie? I think he's a serial adulterer and his fiance just kicked him to the curb with no money, headed back to his mum's probably." She nodded in agreement to her own opinion, taking one last chug of the shake before it was completely empty, not so discreetly tucking the empty bottle under the seat with the absence of a trashcan.

PIPER X FORESTER

Piper's eyes bounced over to Harper as he asked Jackie a question. A bit of forlorn lied beneath her smile. But as soon as Quinn made his remark, she felt like things were looking up. Quinn had a way of making things feel like they would be okay.

"Heck yeah, we are!" A hopeful grin spread across Piper's face. If anyone could save Harper, she was sure that Quinn, Jackie, Bri, Alexei, and she could do it.

"And, yeah, Quinn's right. Also, think from a statistical standpoint. You know at most one person who died in a bus crash, you'll be fine." Piper promised.

Piper had been so stressed out lately. She always tried her best to keep positive, as she was known as the positive member of the group, but it was so damn hard. With Harper's situation, she feared he wouldn't make it. Piper cares a lot about him and would be distraught if he were to die. She didn't even know what she was dealing with, the unknown was one of her greatest fears. How do ypu stop something which isn't even recorded as existing?

Piper let out a laugh, as she did so, her face turned bright red.

"Jackie, that's so mean! Make sure he doesn't hear you say that! Anyways, he looks more like a man with a troubled past." She liked that the conversation was getting a bit lighter.

"What about that woman?" She pointed to the pregnant woman she was staring at earlier.

Piper looked into her sandwich bag and grabbed another strawberry. Liquid oozed out of it. She quickly threw it into her mouth as to not get the bus dirty.

Jackie laughed, "Pip, that's easy, clearly she's got baby daddy issues and is headed to make a domestic dispute." Maybe Jackie was a glass half empty kind of person, but she likes to think she's a realist. She's really not. Piper elbowed her.

"She actually looks a bit sad. Look at the bruises on her shoulder. I feel bad for her." Piper grimaced.

"But, what do we know. It's all guessing. Ho---w about....she's actually an undercover cop trying to bust pimps and all that jazz by pretending to be a poor woman with parental issues." Piper's eyes lit up and she grabbed her phone.

"I should write that down. It would make for a good book." Piper grinned back at the taller girl. She began to type frantically.

She smiled a bit, biting her lip to stop it from being a grin as she watched Piper tap away at her phone so she wouldn't forget her ideas. Piper can be too cute sometimes... Jackie shook her head, pulling herself away from her easily distracted mind. "All I'm saying is, it might be simpler than we think, she probably just fell over, pregnant woman can't see where they're stepping from behind that belly, y'know?"

Brindle took a sip of water from her canteen, did she make up stories for people? Nah, despite paying attention to her surroundings the people were but faces in a vast crowd, neither friends nor foe - just folks making their own ways in the world. She made a mental note to pick up any of the garbage from the snackage she had prompted was not left behind when they left the bus. madame moiselle madame moiselle Bri realized Alexei being his usual broody self, but perhaps he was being a bit too silent - after all, he hadn't attempted to give anyone a slightly sardonic story and that type of thing seemed right up his alley, "You doing all-right over there Alexei?" She asked, sitting up to glance up and over Piper's head to see him where he sat.

PIPER X FORESTER

"I mean I guess you're right. Occam's razor. The most simple answer is, boringly, the right one." Piper sighed as she slumped back into her seat. She took a Fanta Grape flavoured lipsmacker from her pocket and began to apply it over her lips. It smelled sickeningly sweet, but Piper didn't realize that.

"It's a bit tragic that everyone you see is possibly struggling with the same things you struggle with." Piper thought out loud as she shoved her lip balm back into her pocket.

She pulled a pair of ear buds out of her pocket. They were awfully tangled. She took a couple minutes to straighten them out. She plugged them into her phone and plopped them into her ears. She turned on some tunes.

Frequently, Piper found herself envying Jackie. She wished she had the strength and the sense of fearlessness Jackie showed the world, rather than the awkward, tiny girl who feared fighting with all her heart.

BECAUSE RPNATION DELETED ALL MY HARD WORK I'M JUST GOING TO DO A DISAPPOINTING PARAGRAPH---FUDGE YOU RPNATION YOU DID THIS

Alexei turned over to Brindle, realizing she had called his name. He was brooding over his past; Lyra, the baby, his crimes, his chance at a new future now that he was out of prison almost a year and a half ago...
He was sitting farther from the rest, not the social type. He opened his mouth to speak, answering with the same old, "I'm fine" lie, but realizing that this time, he couldn't. Because this time, like all other times, he wasn't alright. He eyed her pretty face, silently wondering what he should say. Then, he answered with a simple, "No." Unlike the others, Brindle was the only one who knew more about Alexei's past than the rest. He remembered last Christmas, he had opened up to Brindle, telling her more than he should have. Now, it was a secret between them, something that was between them and them only. He didn't know if it made them any more than mere acquaintances, but it didn't matter. She would catch on quickly.

Now, the rest, they knew little. They knew about Lyra, that her parents banned him from ever seeing her again, knew about him in prison, how he was a convicted criminal, but they did not know the fine details as Brindle did. They did not know the pregnancy Lyra had at fifteen that caused the banishment, didn't know his dabbles in drug dealing and possession, the reason for his sentence, didn't know how he was labeled a 'rapist', forever labeled an outcast. He eyed each other quickly, soon landing on Jackie. His ocean blue eyes narrowed, a festering dislike simmering beneath his skin. Now, though they were all 'friends' officially, Alexei knew he and Jackie could never be friends. Both were stubborn, both were headstrong and both wouldn't back down from a fight if it meant the world. They butted heads quite a lot, always at the opposite of the spectrum. She was prideful, impulsive. She did not think before she acted. There were many things Alexei could describe her as, and he knew she could as well. He turned to Bri, wanting to see if she caught on to what he had meant in so little words.

Harper nodded at Quinn's statement," You have a point, Jello settles the stomach though right? I'm sure I'll be fine!" As he said this however, the seer felt a bit queasy. He rubbed his sleep-deprived eyes and leaned his head against the window, trying to pay attention to his friends' conversations. He reached down for his bag and procured a book from therein. Perhaps the The Myth of Sisyphus? The dust jacket was missing so we're just guessing at this. It could be a cute story about birdies for all we know. He tried to keep himself focused- trying to avoid thinking about what would happen after they got off the bus. Would he know where to go? He mused over the idea while listening to the compressed air of the bus sound in and out, "Just as danger provided man the unique opportunity of seizing awareness..." Harper could bare sleeplessness no longer and slumped forward face first into his book, when was the last time he had slept? It was dangerous for him to do it at this point, but it was equally dangerous for him not to right???

Bri
make small.jpg
❄ The Sage ❄
Bri was unsurprised by Alexei's answer, even if he was prone to giving a different one for others; the impending pressures of his life were leering down upon him and he was not in the mindspace to face or let them go. She was a bit concerned that he spoke his thoughts aloud with everyone about, it was unexpected behavior, but then again - they were all engrossed in their own thoughts and discussions. Brindle didn't have anything to say to him that might be out of place with the others about. She glanced to her left and realized Harper face-down in a book; an occurrence that happened to her quite a bit, it was terrible for the back. From atop her coat she unraveled an heirloom scarf embroidered with roses and rolled it up; she reached past Quinn and propped Harper the right-ways up, placing her scarf on his shoulders for neck support.

PIPER X FORESTER

Piper looked over at Harper, as she did so, her face became somber. Would going looking really help? Or were they just stretching out his eventual demise? It was difficult for her to be an optimistic in a time like this. But I guess they had to try, no matter how hopeless it truly seemed.

She just couldn't imagine life where Harper was dead, they had been friends for years, now. It deeply pained her to think about a day where he didn't sit at the lunch table with them. She could just see the empty seat. The cold, empty, lifeless seat which once was sanctuary to a friend. She felt like crying. She bit her tongue to stop herself.

Her eyes bounced over to Alexei, who was being his usual brooding self. She often wondered what was going on his head, she felt as if he was an impossible maze or a safe she could never unlock. She offered a small smile to him.

Jackie caught the look Alexei gave her and she raised a thick brow in his direction.
They were all friends, yes, but Alexei and Jackie always managed to butt heads now and then, which was never a one sided thing.
Jackie didn't get what Alexei's problem with her was, he knew next to nothing about her besides the fact that she clearly had better game than him; but Jackie knew her issues with him, and until he can stop being the occasional ass then she won't either. "Who shat in you cornflakes, Alex?" she smirked at him, matching his narrowed expression.

Quinn accepted the five from Jackie. He was glad for a second that the mood was a little lighter. He had to keep it that way. If they were never to see Harper again, he knew he'd want Quinn to remain happy. Ever since his mother died, Quinn had went through a tough time. He'd got better over the past few years and so death wasn't going to hurt him anymore. They'd face this head on, together, as friends and as family. Quinn wasn't going to let this define their lives; everything else they did with Harper would.

The happiness quickly left them causing Quinn to stand up on his seat as the bus was moving. "Come on, guys," he said, "Let's focus on the positives right now. We're going to another city. Who knows what could happen there? And no parents! That's like a double deal! Come on Alex, you gotta be happy about that."

He smiled. Alex was a quiet angry big dude. There was no reason for him to be so mopey but he was anyway and Quinn had to be the one to break that hard outer shell somehow. They'd been friends for years and maybe on this trip it will finally happen.

He continued, "And what if it's nothing, Harper? What if you figure it out and it turns out to be nothing and you could start feel better right?" Looking on the bright side so much can lead to some pretty insane sounding things. Quinn never meant what he said when he got too deep but he could sound ignorant which leads to fights and other bad things that Quinn didn't want to occur. All the guy wanted was for them to be happy.

PIPER X FORESTER

"Sit back down before you get a concussion." Piper warned. As she said that, she remembered an image which had been burned into her mind.

Piper pushed back tears, as she tried to wash her sister's lifeless body out of her head. She took a deep breath though her nose, held it for eight seconds, and then breathed out through her mouth.

"Bri, got any snacks?" Piper tried to distract herself as she looked over to Bri. Piper was starving, she had recently finished eating her strawberries. She hadn't had breakfast that morning or dinner last night. Recently, her mother had started to be a bit more closed off from the family, forgetting to make meals, staying in her room. This worried Piper, but she assumed her mother was just going through a depressive episode and would be fine.
