Hill-Crushing Heroes

Inspired by this thread, I built a 2E Hill-Crushing Hero for use as an antagonist in my Lunars game. I gave him 150 experience points to represent some time in the field, but otherwise built him according to the book.
His damage is absolutely monstrous: with Strength 4 and a white jade grand goremaul, he throws 21L/6. He has a Combo that includes Falling Star Maneuver, Mountain-Toppling Method and Force of the Mountain, which adds another 10-14 to his raw damage, so I'm going to flat-out tell my players that they cannot let this guy hit them. He also has a respectable soak, between 2-dot armor, the Earth anima power, and ED Charms.

So in answer to the question, "What is a Hill-Crushing Hero," my reply would be: a fuckin' TANK.
I love Earth Castes for those reasons...

Don't confuse the death knights with 1ed World of Darkness vampires. There's some emo/goth kids in the book, but the majority of them aren't fucking around.
There's no question, given equal starting-character builds and combat optimization, that an Abyssal could beat an Immaculate martial artist of whatever style. A perfect defense is within easy reach and could be incorporated into a simple, effective Combo with a Melee Excellency and a damage-enhancer for 3 bonus points (which, if the Leige background remains in 2E, is chump change). Once we get into the more nebulous area of "starting character +150," the differences are even more pronounced; while the Terrestrials do have the advantage of free access to reflexives, they simply can't overcome the Essence and dice-pool advantages of Abyssals.

As far as that scenario in the 1E book, I found it more or less plausible; without an Awareness Charm active, it's hard to distinguish one body from many, and it described the Immaculate as wading through a press of zombies. What's one pale face among a hundred?

Ultimately, a matter such as this comes to the same point of conclusion as all rules/ power issues in Exalted: to the Storyteller's discretion. While we can certainly base our arguments on canonical texts and printed rules, the game is actually played among individuals who have their own strategies, biases and house rules. So saying, "That Abyssal couldn't have beat that Hill-Crushing Hero so easily" is as nonsensical as shouting at your television. It is printed; that's what happened. What we CAN argue is how we as players or STs would've handled that situation.

Final note: that Immaculate was doomed anyway. He was in the Abyssal book.

So...  a DB could easily taken on an Abyssal?
Wow. I didn't know Terrestrials could take out Celestials so easily.
Comrade Gustav is probably referencing the Abyssal game he runs, during the course of which my Daybreak martial artist - with starting character stats - fought a group of 3 or 4 Dragon-Blooded, largely on his own, and killed them all. He barely survived, but he beat 4:1 odds.

I'm surprised no one else picked this up:

Yeah' date=' no matter what exists in the fiction world stuff will carry over.  For instance a Lunar having sex with goats is mock worthy...[/quote']
See this image of a 1st Age weapons platform?  I built that!  But do they call me Ma-Ha-Suchi the builder?  No!

See those ruins over there?  They're what remain of the 1st Age city I destroyed WHEN IT'S DEFENSES WERE STILL INTACT!  But do they call me Ma-Ha-Suchi the destroyer?  No!

See this whole swath of Creation?  It remains because I stood, ALONE, and defended it when the Fair Folk invaded!  But do they call me Ma-Ha-Suchi the Protector?

But ya spend a century with some goats...
