hi.

Armageddon

______
my title is really interesting and unique, i know.

i'm a crusty, bitter old veteran of this forum and i've sort of realized why i don't role-play as much anymore, so i'd like to take a shot at fixing that.

i'm a pretty simple writer -- there isn't a huge list of stuff that needs to be reviewed as far as rules go. just fit these three guidelines and you'll do just fine.

  • grammar. it's not that big of a deal if your grammar isn't top-notch. just make sure you're understandable. i make typos too, and i do weird screw-ups sometimes, so just do the best that you can in in-character posting and you'll do fine. out-of-character is free-reign for just about anything.

  • post length. to be honest, this has stopped mattering as much to me. as long as we don't do one-to-two-liners, any length is really fine for my partner to reply with. i might write a little longer and more detailed at times, but i've found that the pressure of requiring long replies tends to suck the fun out of a role-play for me and my partner. let's just both have a good time. that's what matters in the end.

  • activity. i'm gonna be frank -- i frequently go inactive at random points due to the craziness of life. if you can have some patience for me replying, i'll provide the same to you. i know how terrible life can be sometimes, so just post when you can and i'll do the same.

those are really all the things that i feel need to be covered.

pairings are a very open subject to me. there's a few kinds of things that i'm not interested in, but the things that i am interested in hold little limits.

lets start with what i'm not interested in:

  • non-fictional historical themes. i dislike being bound to time periods that i can't understand fully, and researching for time periods is boring to me. time periods do affect characters, so it makes it a struggle and puts on pressure to act correctly than a fictional setting would.
  • excessively dark/brooding/nitty-gritty themes. i have enough depressing things going on in my life and in my brain to last me a lifetime, unfortunately. there needs to be some lightness in a role-play, or it won't be fun for me.
  • crime/gang/cop themes. i just. don't like those pairings or plots. as much as i wish that i could, i just don't.
  • age gap themes. teacher/student and all of that -- i just can't do that. it's uncomfortable for me. don't ask me to do something that suggests stuff like that.
  • fandoms. there are very few, very specific, and very obscure exceptions to this, but i usually don't like being tied to a certain setting or universe.

now, onto what i am interested in:

  • medieval fantasy. there are so many possibilities to this. dragons, halflings, adventures, world-building, creatures, magic, more world-building. i fucking love this genre and have a very open mind with it.
  • modern fantasy. how could i not like modern-day magical shit? creatures disguised to fit into a new world, undercover magic -- or even a world where magic and creatures are the norm? again, tons of possibilities with this.
  • post-apocalyptic. man, do i love me a good old 'desolate world where it's kill or be killed' kinda thing! zombie apocalypse, overrun by alien life, inter-human wars -- it doesn't matter to me. stuff like this can be a lot of fun when done right.
  • animals. yes, animals. i have always enjoyed playing as wolves, big cats, bears, little critters, big critters -- and especially fantastical creatures, like dragons, griffons, and tons more. it's a change in perspective that i find enjoyable to convey.
  • modern realism. a classic genre. romance, friendship, shenanigans, all the fun stuff. i can never get sick of this genre, even when i feel like i should be sick of it.
  • science fiction. i'm a newbie to this genre, so be a little gentle here. i used to not like it, but i realized how fun it can be when done right. mechas, futuristic gadgets, science! good shit.
  • horror/thriller aspects. not exactly a full-on horror/thriller role-play, but damn, some horror/thriller can really spice up a story! sprinkles of it are welcomed, as well as gore and action in moderation.

i have some ideas that are very loose and open to building on, but i'll save that for a pm.

i hope anybody that views finds some interest here. if not, have a good day anyways, pal. you deserve good days.

I would love to discuss something with you. I do generally prefer at least a little bit of romance in my RPs, but if we do something modern fantasy, modern realism or science fiction, I would be up for it! I am a college student working a part time job as well, though, so my activity isn't always daily.

I love doing medieval fantasy RPs, and I have an idea or two for that genre, if you want to talk about them.

Hmm I may have a plot that falls under Modern Fantasy and Animals. I'll like to do RP with you ^^

I choose you, Post-Apocalypse!

(It scares me how much I wish for the zombie apocalypse to happen in real life.)

Down for Animals and Modern Realism as well.
