Hello everyone, I'm Mariko. I enjoy drawing, writing, and video games. My other hobbies include reading, watching anime, and ballroom dancing. I like to work on creating stories when I manage to snag some free time from schoolwork. It has been quite some time since I have last been involved in role playing, though I was quite active in several communities a few years ago. I enjoy roleplaying as a way to develop my characters outside of the stories I'm working on, as well as just a fun way to spend the time.

I'm hoping to find some fun roleplays, as well as meet some new friends ^_^

Hello there! Welcome to rpnation! Let me know if there is anything I might be able to help you find.
Thank you very much ^_^ I don't quite know yet what types of roleplays I'm going to get involved in, but this site seems very friendly. Since it's been awhile since I last rped on a forum site, I'm not entirely sure what to expect or where to start. If you have any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them.

Welcome to RPN! *throws confetti in air* I'm Kestrel, but you can call me Kes if you want. What video games do you like? If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Enjoy your stay!

I like a lot of puzzle games, RPGs, and adventure games. My favorites are the "Tales of" series, the Legend of Zelda games, the Professor Layton series, the Phoenix Wright series, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Hotel Dusk: Room 215, the Assassin's Creed series, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, the Harvest Moon/Rune Factory series, Minecraft, and Stardew Valley (which I'm playing currently). Also Otome games.

Come to think of it, there's a lot of franchises on that list. I'm a slave to the corporations T_T. Lol but my 100% favorite game hands down is Tales of Vesperia. I've logged in 280+ hours on it just from playing it over and over with my friends.

That's a lot of hours. I like fantasy RPGs like Skyrim and Dragon Age.

My brother is a huge fan of both of those games. I plan to play them sometime too, since I enjoy the large overworld aspect of games like those, but it takes me quite a long time to stop being addicted to whatever game I'm playing and start playing a different one. Fantasy settings are very enjoyable in video games, so I tend to be drawn to fantasy adventures and rpgs.

(Also, I forgot to list the Golden Sun games. Those are classics when it comes to fantasy RPGs! And it occurs to me looking over my extensive list that I spent the majority of my childhood playing video games. Totally worth it though.)

Your username is German for apple juice, right?

Lol yes. Yes it is. Or "orange" alternatively, since "apfelsaft" is the more common word for apple juice, and the old word for orange is apfelsine. I heard the word in my 7th grade German class and I had to guess the spelling based on the phonetic sounds for the word apple juice when I first created this username as a middle schooler. I couldn't spell very well back then (and still can't spell as an adult honestly). Though it works out since even if someone were to want the username, they probably wouldn't spell it the way that I do. It's definitely confused many a German.

I took German for a few years. I don't remember much, I just took it to get a scholarship. It sounded familiar.

It's been awhile for me too. I've switched to Japanese since entering university, but I'm still pretty nostalgic for the language so I've kept the username even though I'm no longer studying German anymore.

My best friend from real life is obsessed with everything Japanese.

Japan is a great country, and a fun language to study. It's an easy thing to get obsessed with since Japan is the master of all fandoms. I swear they seem to have invented the majority of fandom concepts we use today. Of course, any country can be pretty fascinating one you learn enough about it. There's a lot of wonderfully bizarre things about Japan, though undoubtedly Japanese people must think similar things of western countries.

Yeah. She may get too spend a semester over there, which she's excited for.

That's very exciting ^_^ I'm also hoping to study in Japan at some point, though the best I can probably hope for is spending the winter intersession there (which is still pretty good). I'll have to learn a lot more kanji before then though.

My friend tried to reach me Kanji, but I've forgotten a lot of it.

Welcome to Roleplay Nation *Hands thee a cupcake*

We're all here for one amazing reason or another. (I'm here to try and get better with roleplaying and develop new skills.)

If you ever need help with anything, if you want someone to talk too, or if you're bored, send me a message. I'm usually online even when I shouldn't be. (Like right now, supposed to be doing college work, but instead I am multi-tasking)

Even though I cannot pronounce it, your name is unique and giving me a chuckle.

I must try to get the pronunciation of your name correct.

Running on 2 hour sleep, with 6 cups of coffee, and in school right now. So trying to pronounce it is amazingly fun right now. :D

I'm sure. Not the best combo.

I recognize the profile picture. I enjoyed Tales of Vesperia myself, anyhow; Welcome to the Nation! It's a pleasure to have you here and I hope you've received a warm welcome and greeting thus far! If you need anything, please let me know, be it an RP you'd wish to start up (and are in need of members), I'd happily come join. Or, if you are in need of someone else to create one, please feel free to discuss that with me as well, I'd just as happily make one/find one to suite your needs and interests. I hope you have a wonderful time and sojourn in the graces of this magnificent forum, enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of many eager and strong minds that flow with rich text. Welcome once more...

It's pretty hard since there's thousands of kanji characters to learn. Studying languages is pretty fun though (minus the part where you get graded on how well you've learned it). I think if the grading aspect was taken out of foreign language classes, people could learn a lot more.

Thanks so much ^_^ The community has been very welcoming. I'm hopefully going to start rping pretty soon, and I'll probably try out some rps to get a feel for how things run before I try making my own. Thanks for welcoming me, you definitely make the site sound very exciting ^_^

And I'm sure once you begin your grand adventure, you'll soon find what I say to be true. It is a wonderful experience :)

Thanks ^_^ Do you have any suggestions for how to join in an rp/find rps to join? I'm browsing the forums but I'm a bit too intimidated to get started ^.^; .
