Hey now

Who knew a Google search could actually help me with finding role plays? I've been searching for YEARS and always end up on the same few sites with basically no results. Never seen this place before, but I've also been off the RP radar for a while. Basically, I'm really happy to have found you guys! There's a lot of info and it's kind of overwhelming but hopefully I can get through it without too much issue.

I usually go by Mari, but that username was taken so I've fallen back on Marja. I've been role playing since about 2005 and took a break the past two years while life threw as many curve balls at me as possible (such a jerk). I take pride in how creative I can be and my main outlet for that is writing, but I definitely prefer role playing because it adds another dimension to the experience.

I'm a full time student, work, still dealing with aforementioned life issues and what have you. In my free time I'm at garage sales and thrift stores, mostly because I like to repurpose/makeover furniture. I'm also a complete TV junkie.

You'll probably find me seeking out original science fiction and fandoms. By the way, I don't know what Dice or Nation Building is, is there a place to figure that out or should I hit up Google again?

Hopefully that's not too much rambling. It's great to be here ( :) )

Hello and welcome to RPNation! So I know I've seen the answer to your question on Dice and Nation Building somewhere on here but for the life of me can't seem to find it. My understanding is the Nation Building is RPing on, well, a national level. Instead creating a single character, you create an entire nation. So your interactions would be based more on diplomacy or war type situations that would effect your entire nation, creating a unique civilization with culture, art, laws, etc. I believe that dice is for those who wish to RP dice based games, such as Dungeons & Dragons. Instead of your character decisions automatically happening, you would "roll dice" (there is a site engine to do so) to see if you succeeded or failed in what you were attempting. These descriptions are very basic and I don't really know all of the mechanics behind either one as I haven't actually participated in them, but I hope it gives you a general idea. Have fun and enjoy!

When life throws you curve balls don't aim for the ball. Instead, take your bat, cover it in nails, dip it in oil, light it on fire. Then proceed to beat the crap out of life for being a condescending jackass. It also allows many openings for great one-liners! Like: It'll only take 2 strikes for you to be out! Or a personal favorite: I'll send ya home with this homerun! and of course followed by manic laughter with a few unintelligible words thrown into the laughter.

Thanks Shadowman, and many thanks Steviemac. Your explanations are very helpful!

I like your attitude, Loco (> :) ) I've got the manic laughter down, but I really need to work on my one-liners.

That was really funny.

Greetings and salutations!

Welcome to RP Nation, where Roleplay is our business.

You've found us, congratulations for choosing the best RP site on the whole intertubes, we're glad you're here and a part of the expanding universe that is RP Nation. Also, now you're officially one of the cool kids.

Before you being your quest to becoming one of the old hats here at RPN, please do take a second and take a look at the site rules. You can find them here: INFO - Official Site Rules | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum.

Unlike the Pirate code, they aren't more like suggestions but rules that we take a bit seriously. If, however, you've got a few pieces of eight you'd like to swing our way, we're always more than happy to take it. (I said, the rules weren't suggestions, never said we weren't piratey mate).

Once you've had a glance over the rules there's more information to be had here: Site Questions & Information | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum. You can find something there to answer just about any question you might have.

Now then, I know that you have to answers that you're wanting answered now and the first is, you can join any RP that is open. You can find the different RP genres here: Roleplays | RpNation.com - Best Roleplay Forum

They're set up by genre so if you're looking for that Belgariad fandom RP (sorry, none yet exists here) then you'll know you aren't going to be looking in the futuristic genre. Each genre has an interest check at the top of the page and you can peruse this to see if anyone is wanting to create an RP.

If you are trolling the RPs and you just gotta make your own futuristic version of the Elenium, then you can pick the genre (future or fandom? I don't know!) and create an interest check. In the interest check you can tell the whole world about your RP and what you want to do with it. If you get enough people to say Aye! then you create your RP.

If you have any questions, issues, or concerns, don't hesitate to get in touch with either the moderators of your forum (the genre), the Super moderators, or even the admin staff. You can do that here: Site Questions & Information

If you have any questions you need to address to me, please tag me in your comments as I don't always get to every single response in every welcome thread and I end up missing a lot of questions. You can do that by using the @ before my handle.

Again, welcome to RPN and happy RPing.

I love hanging out here and reading funny comments, especially when I'm sad. Thanks, @Loco.

Anyway, welcome to RPN! If you haven't figured it out, I'm Kestrel, but lots of (alleged) people here call me Kes.
