Realistic or Modern Hero's Betrayal - IC

Watching the various villains go about displaying their powers brought a cheeky smile to Zoe's face, or rather what lay beneath that layer of protective metal that was making it harder for anyone to gauge her reaction. The mandible-like structure with the jagged teeth that covered parts of the metallic ex-hero's face shifting in what could best be described as a grimace-like grin of chrome.

A low chuckle escaped her, hollow and carrying a certain eerie echo that might not have aided her reputation as a hero, as she'd finally step through the doorframe and into the room, her spiky, vividly colored mohawk threatening to scrape off parts of the ceiling as she came to stand at her full height.
Leaning against the wall, crossing her metal-encased arms in front of her chest, Zoe would nod towards Jared.

"Hey now, we both know there's more hiding underneath this metal skin of mine, eh?"
The villainess would remark with a hearty laugh, her fist coming to knock on her chestplate as the sound of heavy metal on metal rang through the room.

"Though I suppose I'm not nearly as flashy as the lot of you. Though subtlety is still far from my forte." Zoe added, tilting her head slightly to the side as she allowed her rust-colored glare to wander over the assembled villains that may or may not be the people she'd be working with from now one.

"As JARED was so eager to share, name's Zoe. Went by Iron Maiden when I was still playing for the boyscouts. Now 'tis Metalhead. Or Zo, your call really, easy to keep one's identity secret when your power's covering your ugly mug 24/7." The metallic ex-hero would continue as she'd exchange an amused glare with Jared, raising what could best be described as an eyebrow-like arch of metal at him as her visored face struggled to portray just the tiniest hint of amusement she felt over the entire situation.

Back when she was working for the heroes meetings like these were boring and dull, following protocol and going down lists of powers and quirks, but here. This was a free for all of upstart villains showcasing their powers to each other in hopes of outdoing each other.
And that grin behind her metallic muzzle just broadened at the mere thought of getting to add her own set of rather destructive skills to the mix.

"Anyhow, there's a reason we're all here, 'eh? And I doubt it's not simply for getting into a dick-measuring contest. I'd be more than happy to know if this is going to be worth any of our time. You know, there's other stuff to be done, even though kickin' hero butt's still going to be too good to pass up."

Ezra had gently put Jared back on his feet, as the considerably taller man had requested. He had no need to keep him up there anymore, after all; his superstrength didn't have anything more than that to it, he was just strong. Jared had asked if he had anything else up his sleeve, so he needed to answer that, but he didn't typically just carry around metal things to demonstrate his abilities with. "Oh, actually I do have more than one power, but, uhm, how to....," Ezra's head turned away from the group as he looked around the room. He could use the door he'd blown off it's hinges, but just waving something that large around could potentially injure somebody badly. He had great control over his powers, but using something as large as a door? If he judged distance incorrectly, it could very well kill anyone except the woman who had referred to Jared by his actual name. Chairs? Nah, he could still injure somebody with that. He doubted actually hurting one of the people in the room would be taken too well, regardless of whether or not they were supposed to be villains.

Bright blue eyes found what looked like the hilt of a blade sticking out from under The Phantom Thief's coat. Ah, that would certainly work. He'd wait a minute, though, as other people seemed to have started showing off their powers.

The girl with braids (had she said her name or codename? He couldn't remember) had frozen the guy who called himself Kaldr in place and was moving his limbs around. Had she warned him before she did that? He'd guess no, but he supposed he had given Jared little warning before lifting him onto his shoulder. "Oh, that's really neat," His tone lacked the playful edge it had earlier and he was looking at Kaldr instead of her, his head tilted to the side. How long would he stay like that? She'd done that through touch. Even less so than he naturally did, he wanted her hands to stay away from him.

The next one was a girl who erupted into sparks- Electrokinesis, he guessed. What did she say her name was? Livewire? That was kind of on the nose, but he didn't have much room to speak when he thought about his hero name. It wasn't his most creative move, but it sounded fancy to anyone who only spoke English. "... Shiny," He only got out a single word. It was a respectable power and he would've been happy to provide more feedback if the words didn't get stuck in his throat. He wished he actually knew one of the men in the room, as he could typically ground himself with someone familiar nearby. If they knew who he was, all they'd know was Or la Glace, and Or la Glace didn't have a problem talking with anyone. Or la Glace loved it when women fawned over him, regardless of how Ezra felt when women patted his head or wanted hugs from him. That act was far harder to put on when it wasn't being required of him.

And it was another woman showing off her powers, this time it seemed to be invisibility and telekinesis. "... Cool!" The excitement in Ezra's voice was strained, though he genuinely did think she had a good pair of powers. They were quite useful. The fact that it had literally been three women in a row showing their powers had just made it hard on him to think of more than one word responses or express any sort of excitement.

The guy with the bubbles had a... unique power, at the very least. His eyes seemed to shimmer a bit when he saw the bubbles. He fucking loved bubbles, and these bubbled seemed to actually be useful, unlike anything he blew with Noelle. The stress that came from trying to actually communicate with the women in the room (despite the fact that he had, very clearly, failed) had broken through his childish front so he responded with a short "That's a really interesting power," in a calm, level voice instead of the childish excitement that it would've garnered had Michi been the first one to show off.

"Dick measuring competition?" Ezra chuckled at Zoe's statement, "Yeah, this seems like it could quickly devolve into a pissing competition, and I'm sure that's not what we're here for." Unlike with the rest of the women, Ezra had managed to actually speak to her. It appeared that his mind had accepted her as "Just another one of the guys" due to her personality, or perhaps because she was covered in metal. "Metal plating is really neat, I think we would work well together... Ah, before I forget, I do have more than one power."

Ezra held out his left hand, where a palm-sized ice rose quickly spread, though the shape was more him showing off than anything. "Cyrokinesis, I can't demonstrate Hydrokinesis in a room without water but I can do that... some... and," he stopped and looked back at The Phantom Thief, his eyes landing on the dagger he'd spotted. It moved away from the dark-haired man and toward Ezra, where it settled in his right hand. "... Matellokinesis! I could change the shape, too, but I believe he needs this. My cute looks aren't a power, but I can use them to manipulate people." His posture and tone said it all when he mentioned his appearance; the short man was definitely narcissistic.

He turned away to the group and walked toward The Phantom Thief. He flipped the dagger over in his hand, gently holding it by the blade to pass it back to him. His left hand hooked the ice rose around the collar of the dark coat the man was wearing. "I don't really want your dagger."

The Boy took a step back into the small elevator, lifted his arm through a dark cape to press a button on the side panel, and watched as the metal doors slid shut. His gaze raised to the electronic number above the door and counted the floors before his stop. 1...2...3...4…

He was a ghastly combination in costume and appearance, A rather short kid with a cute face wrapped up in a black cloak, a tomato firmly squished into his forehead and dripping across half his face. His hair was a mess of a style that covered his head, parting upwards like spikes poking out from the side. is hair was a blend of a grey and the sheen of a sickly purple, the same purple that filled his strangely intense pupils to complement his peculiar eyes. The boy’s eyes scanned the numbers anxiously as he lifted his free arm up to his chest. The left arm gripped a plastic bag filled with various grocery items and supplies, labeled “Thank You” in big letters which twisted with the folds of the bag. A periodic rustling broke the uneasy silence of the small elevator as he waited. His vision drifted emptily into his reflection on the door as he took this opportunity to study his appearance. After a moment of stillness, he looked to the black cloak that enveloped his uniform, pinching and bringing it out at his side as if he were examining it, visibly rethinking his decision to dress-up today. It began to dawn on him why those people at the crosswalk looked at him funny. His blank expression resumed, although with the hint of melancholy behind hollow and worried eyes. 6...7...8…

A pink drop slowly climbed out from the side of his mouth, drool that quickly stretched across his skin as it slowly crawled towards his chin. In retaliation, He quickly brought up his left arm and wiped it off, visibly revolted by such. He dropped that arm back to his side lazily as the chains beneath it wrapped around the plastic handles where his grip once was. Of course, an action he had to periodically repeat due to the Tomatoes he’s acquired from the nice people outside. At least they made for a lovely snack. He took the tomato from his head and took a bite with a grin. Eyeing the numbers once more.

Arsene Lupin - The Gentleman Thief - Panzer Panzer Necromantic Necromantic Vampunk Vampunk Damafaud Damafaud AI10100 AI10100 SheepOfSmall SheepOfSmall The Awakened Moon The Awakened Moon Shagranoz Shagranoz @whoeverImissed

Arsene leaned back against the wall as he watched everyone do as he asked, watching as a few more people arrived and as the rest began to show off their powers. He remained quiet while the others showcased their abilities to one another. He didn't really have much he wanted to add to any of their showcases, instead he was more inclined to study their interactions with one another. Watching their interests and how they worked together, trying to gain an understanding on how the chemistry of the team would play out and who would work best with whom. They seemed to all get along rather alright, at least, they tolerated one another. Better chemistry then most teams of this size, he supposed.

Historaia and Jared seemed to be busy whispering to one another, though Jared had quickly changed his tune to showcase his powers. They knew each other, that wouldn't be much of a problem so long as they could work with one another. If anything, it may be helpful. Then came the teenager, he'd been tempted to not even invite her due to her age but the flashiness of her powers had made it hard not to. Then came Inviso-Girl, or Knox. As if drastically contrasting the power show case before her, she became invisible. The juxtaposition was almost satisfying to Arsene's eyes, and he would certainly have to pair the two up as a distracting duo. It was clear to see in his eyes he had slipped into a more serious persona, the one that had gotten away with all his crimes against humanity. He was taking studying them all very seriously, as their ability

Next was bubbles.
Fucking bubbles.
Did Arsene like it? Did Arsene hate it? Not even Arsene knew the answer to that question. Of course, the owner of the bubbling ability, Michi, seemed to be a nice kid. As though he would work well with whomever Arsene put him with. That would work well to his advantage, certainly. Though, the one's who worked well with everyone tended to be the least helpful. That wide-eyed enthusiasm was good for teaching, however when put into actual scenarios it could make them act recklessly without a plan. There was potential in him, but it would need to be distilled into a more pure form before he could truly be classified as a 'good villain'. If there even was such a thing.

Then Zoe became metal, and it was rather great. She seemed to be incredibly enthusiastic, as well as cocky. Mostly cocky, but Arsene was expecting to catch some of those with cockier inclinations. Not everyone becoming villains were doing it for the pure love of the chaos. Most did it for selfishness, that was what Arsene had been basing his marketing on as well. Though her metal power seemed to be something of use, her relationship with Jared might need to be something to be thought on more. They seemed not to outright hate each other, though their words to one another were certainly not of playful teasing. Arsene would need to consider this more as he watched the two, only noticing his Seventh Wonder when he had stolen his dagger.

He watched with an intrigued look, not incredibly interested in the other's powers in particular. He found himself smirking as the ice rose was hooked into his collar, it may have went against his color palette but as a gift from his Seventh Wonder he would gladly accept it. He quickly took back his dagger, tossing it in the air a few times before putting it back into it's pocket in his jacket. "Why thank you, most other villains would have simply taken it for their own." Arsene smirked at him, before noticing the elevator doors opening to reveal his protege carrying groceries and eating a...
half squished tomato...

Arsene found himself sighing. He didn't particularly find it a bad thing the other was eating a tomato that was most certainly thrown at him, but more so upsetting that the other hadn't come presentable. This was his protege after all. He should look just as good as The Gentleman Thief himself! Arsene found himself sinking into the dark wall he'd been leaning on to appear near the other side of the room nearer to his protege. He quickly made the illusion in the gathered villains minds that the elevator door had closed once again before stepping through it. Likely a more stupid use of his powers, and a rather draining one at that, but this was incredibly important! Everyone under his tutelage must be presentable at all social events! Including heists, grocery shopping and things like this! Isaac should have been there with him before all this in the first place!

He sighed when he was in the elevator with them, quickly he started rubbing the others face clean with paper towels from the grocery bags they were carrying. "What have I said about public appearances? We must look nice when we have guests over, have I not told you this?" Arsene started to go on a rant about how appearances were everything and that they must look well to impress their fellow villains with increasingly over the top flowery language. "Here from the top of the world, we must give the ants an ideal to look up to." Arsene finished, both ranting and cleaning the other of tomato. At least now Isaac looked somewhat presentable. "Do you have anything to say for yourself?" Arsene questioned, his arms crossed as he leaned against the elevator wall, allowing the illusion of the door for the other villains to suddenly disappear. He had no will to do anything flashy with his powers as of now, and giving everyone the same sort of flashy illusion, or better a different flashy illusion based upon what he knew of them would be utterly exhausting. Even if it were something simple it would still be more tiring, there simply wasn't enough darkness for Arsene to be flashy with. Though the building itself was naturally dimmer due to how he'd not bothered with fixing many of the lights, the window to outside where the city lights shone as well as the fact the lights were still on in the first place didn't make forming illusions made of darkness very easy.

Arsene found himself sighing again, he'd have to make up for his poor showmanship during their first heist. They'd probably be able to kill the lights, and then he could shine. Or, at least, darken the mood a little. He found himself smirking at his own mental pun as he awaited his protege's response.

Takahiro Current Form: Tanuki > Monkey

Takahiro wandered around Lee City. Even after a year of being around the humans, he still hadn't gotten used to it. He had to get away from humans with these net things but they were easy to escape from once you take to the skies. He liked the confused and bewildered faces of the humans once he transforms into a bird. It's like they don't even know who he is - but maybe they don't? He doesn't even know himself, if he was going to be honest. Most of the other animals that he's met and talked with don't have the same abilities as him. Doctor Himawari has told him before that there were only a few of his kind but he honestly doesn't really know anymore.

Hiro did want to go back to Doctor Himawari but he doesn't know where they are. Elizabeth told him that they were in another country far away from here. Before she could show him the way back, she had died. He still hasn't really gotten over that. He doesn't have a guardian anymore though, so he was free to do whatever he wanted. It also meant, unfortunately, that he had to hunt his own food. Being able to turn into other species of animals help alleviate the hunger because he could just switch from eating meal worms to eating grass to eating full blown meat. It was amazing.

The mutated tanuki looked around as his nose caught a whiff of something and he proceeded to train his eyes on this young man who was carrying a bag of groceries. Usually! Usually they have something good in there! It wasn't much of a challenge getting in since the young man wasn't paying attention. He turned into a small bird so that he could get to the height he needed and then dove down towards the bag - ending with him plopping inside in a smaller tanuki size.

He began rustling through the items - and found something he wanted to eat for a while now. Ham. There was lettuce too, but he'll have to put that aside for later. He tore through the covering for the ham and began devouring the raw meat. Hiro wasn't too bothered by it even though he preferred those seasoned cooked meat. He managed to eat all of it by the time he heard other voices. He peeked out of the bag to see that they were inside the building and there were so many people there. There was a masked man who had wiped down the young man who was carrying the grocery bag.

He hopped out of the bag and stretched - having been filled by the ham that he had eaten. Hiro took a passing sweep to one person to the other before landing on Jared - who was looking at him with a surprised look. The tanuki shifted into a monkey and then climbed up onto Jared's shoulder.

"Oh hey, what are you doing here buddy?" He muttered under his breath as he turned his head to the side slightly.

"Food!" Hiro had not opened his mouth - but the sound still came out from him. He then pointed a hand towards the bag that Isaac was holding.

"Oh." Jared turned to the Gentleman Thief and the boy that was now taking care of. "Hey, boss, I think this little guy right here just ate through your groceries." He informed the lot of them. He wasn't going to assume that any of them actually knew who Takahiro was aside from Zoe who had probably seen him with Jared every now and then but in different forms. The animal didn't have much media time when he was a hero after all.

  • The greeting of a new member took him slightly by surprise, she seemed much keener on introducing herself to one person rather than the group as a whole. "Well met" He responded simply as he noticed her hands grip his arm, it was a tad strange that the girl had announced the usage of her power before introducing herself. Suddenly it felt like a disconnect had occurred, the world went blank for a split second before things returned to him. The feeling of a hand on his back lingered, his arms raised as if to defend his face from an oncoming attack... why was he in this pose? He lowered his arms and about the same time an explosion of electricity popped off, turning to the source of the disturbance there stood a new figure... or at least there was for a moment before she returned to the small girl he'd seen enter the room moments before. The one who now announced themselves as Livewire.

Following in a rather hastened order was the lady by the name of Knox, as a chair passed by him and the woman disappeared her powers were added to the mental catalog. It seemed that this party had a rather wide variety when it came to the powers they possessed, the next one up had been the man that approached the metallic woman before the rest of the group. He presented an odd power, it felt like a utility based power and yet- despite the oddities of using bubbles in combat, looked extremely efficient.

His head felt somewhat sluggish and he shook it in attempts to clear the fogginess, but it didn't seem to dissipate. His mask got a little looser from his face but he didn't pay mind to that just yet, it was still protecting his identity which was all that mattered. The man who had been known as Jared moments ago asked him about the powers he possessed, the time he had to respond was slim and cut even shorter as the being known now as Zoe spoke once more. Maybe he had gotten a little slower than he remembered... his brain didn't seem to be working as well as it should. After another minute the fogginess cleared and he just dismissed whatever his mind was doting upon.

The display of the powers hadn't ended there, apparently the one with inhuman strength had said something about hydrokinesis. Then proceeded to float a dagger towards himself, had that not been enough the pink-haired male could manipulate ice. Glancing around him for a moment, he surveyed the room again. Come to think of it- everyone here had some sort of amazing ability that varied vastly from one another. No two people seemed the same, at least until he realized there was another person with ice-powers in the room. Curiosity had hi-jacked his mind, why would the Gentleman Thief go after Rin if he already had an ice user that could bring even more to the table. Things just didn't add up, it almost made him wonder if the man hadn't know about the overlap, or maybe he just didn't pay much mind to it. Based on the earlier display he had seemed a bit... spontaneous. His eyes turned to look at the man who seemed to disappear into the shadows of the room, in this time the elevator door had opened and closed again in record time. Maybe that was why they'd been told not to trust it.

A moment later and the doors were open with The Gentleman Thief and another individual inside, out came yet another being that scrambled over to Jared and spoke. This day just kept getting stranger- "My powers aren't anything too fantastical." He said looking over towards Jared now. "They're like Ezra's in a way. Just a different type of ice." He said with a shrug and looked towards the table now. It appeared as though a mist of sorts puffed out from behind the mask as a small square on the table was coated in a blue, shimmering ice. It seemed to be scored into a variety of different squares with some being darker than others. Raising his hand towards the board the appearance of many chess pieces were created. As his hand moved back to dormancy the chess pieces began to shift.

Each one dissipating into an almost mystical blue vapor before reappearing as their normal piece would move. This primordial ice was unlike anything modern day ice could dream to be, it appeared almost magical but just realistic enough not to be. After about a minute the last move was made on the left side won the game. Another puff of mist from behind the mask before the board and it's pieces dissipated into the air once more. "I'm sure you get the gist of it." He said quietly before leaning up against the wall once more- this time making sure he didn't bump into the other member near to him.
    Location: Run-down apartment complex.

Putting a name to a face, putting a face to a power, putting a power to a name, and vice versa. It wasn't too difficult to do so when most faces were covered with mask. Masks were more distinctive than face. Aretta observed the show of power, leaning to the wall which Kaldr leaned on until a moment ago. Then, she analysed.
Hunter, or Jared, had material mimicry. With the right materials at hand, he could turn parts of his body into said material. A close combat fighter with high offensive power. His defense would depend on his battlefield, specifically the materials at hand.

Knox, or Eva, had both telekinesis and invisibility. The potential of telekinesis... she hated to admit it, but Knox could defeat everyone in the room if she wanted to. Invisibility was another simple but powerful ability. Humans, even superheroes, relied on their vision more than their any other senses.

Metalhead, or Zoe, was a metal woman. Putting subtlety aside, her overall physical prowess would be greater than anyone in the room. She might not be stronger than Jared, but her power was more stable. Her attitude was completely another matter.

Michi, or Okaasan (what a curious name), had bubbles. His power covered offensive, defensive, and recovery needs, but his naivety left a lot to be desired. Even the way he spoke would fit that of a starry eyed boy. 'Cool!' he said. Like everything was a dream.

Livewire was another drawer on the same desk. Her power was electricity based, but it only made Aretta more cautious of her. She was a kid. With a dangerous power. She wasn't sure she could trust her with her back. There were many cases of heroes and villains wanna be.

Kaldr was an ice user. Elemental heroes had huge potential in a fight whether it to control the battlefield, to mitigate damage, or to attack. It all depends on the way they utilize their power. He, too, seemed to be the type to be analytical.

Ezra, or Or la Grace, was a specialised telekinetic user. Metal, water, and ice seemed to be his field. His ability, like Kaldr, had huge potential. She wasn't sure she liked him. He reminded her too much of Adrian. Always confident. Smiling. Cheerful.

Then there was their host. Gentleman Thief. She couldn't like him. She needed his help- no, the group he had, but she couldn't trust him.

Ah, one last person. Historaia, or Raia, had preservation, and the more dangerous permanency. She was a close combat fighter, but her offensive power was lower than Jar- Hunter or Zoe. Even so, she specialised in capture and subduing her opponents.

Hunter and Zoe were heavy hitter. Livewire, Kaldr, and Ezra had the most offensive power. Michi and Knox were an all rounder. The Gentleman Thief... what was his power? And where should she put herself? Self analysis was a difficult task.
...monkey? Aretta consciously blinked her eyes several times to clean her mind. What was a monkey doing up here? It perched itself of Jared's shoulder, but why was it there? There was a new person too. Tomato? A friend of the Gentleman Thief?

It was not strange for Aretta to be perplexed by the change in scene around her. After all, they were strange. It was also important to note that she had been thinking deeply on how to best describe each powers of her would be teammate, and burned that information into her mind. When the monkey(?) and the boy entered, she was focused on Kaldr.

Once she snapped out of her confusion, Aretta approached the Gentleman Thief.

"Can we move on with the meeting? We already introduce ourselves," said Aretta. "and from what I see, we shouldn't hope too much on stealth work."

The last statement was an observation she had from the powers of everyone in the room except for the Gentleman Thief, the monkey, and the boy.

As the doors had slid open, Isaac froze, with eyes wide and gaze dotting the faces of the room like a deer caught by a pack of wolves. What he hadn't accounted for was the myriad of people standing just outside the elevator shaft, a meeting that he hadn't remembered was taking place. Before Isaac had any time to think or react, a familiar villain, his overlord, swiftly made his way into the elevator with him. His overlord tended to the tomato spill upon him using paper towels from the grocery bag, to which his protege could only express an emotion similar to a typical Teenage response to their parent doing the same: a mixture of confusion and embarrassment. His grin turned into a hesitant smile as he wiped off the tomato guts from his face, his sight studying and admiring the gentleman thief's visage. The speech he spoke of went mostly over his head as he stood cluelessly. His attention was taken by the animal which had jumped from his plastic bag, being the first one to get off the elevator…

As the familiar question rang in his ears, the gentleman thief leaning against a wall with a sigh. The boy stood silently, mouth agape, as he tried to piece together something of an acceptable answer. He couldn't tell him about his encounter with some people at the crosswalk… or how he tried to scare their children… or how he almost stole candy from them… most importantly, how he failed. His gaze dropped to the floor as he grew more and more embarrassed. His hand gently gripped into his purple hair and the other crossed beneath it, hunched over ever so slightly, the body language equivalent of “I don't want to be here”.

His eyes scanned the people around them, most of whom didn't seem to be focused on him at the moment. Relief in this current awkward situation.

“Wait, why would anyone want to be a queen ant? Seems like a lot of work to me. A lot of people to take care of and manage…”

The boy had taken one line from his rant, the ant part, and his mind began to twist and mend at it until it was unrecognizable.

“Actually, that’d be weird. Imagine being everyone's mommy…” he pondered, scratching his chin thoughtfully and going silent once more before turning to the thief, awaiting his knowledgeable answer.

Celeste had followed her father to this building, though she kept enough of a distance from him that she knew he wouldn't spot her. She hadn't planned on actually following him into wherever he went, she'd just wanted to know what her father, after months of only leaving the house when he had to, had decided he wanted to go out to do. When she saw that he was going into what looked to be an abandoned apartment complex, curiosity sparked in her- what could her father, who was absolutely disgusted by anything with dirt on it, be doing walking into an abandoned building? He had retired from being a hero like, two months ago, there was no way that he'd be rushing into a building to change into his costume. Additionally, there didn't seem to be any villain activity going on nearby.

Celeste waited until it looked like nobody else was going in the building before she entered. It... Really was an absolute mess. Seeing nobody in the lobby, she went to start walking up the stairs, as she didn't trust an elevator in a run down building. There were several other pairs of footprints leading in that direction, but one appeared to have gone toward the elevator. She wondered if the poor sap who chose the elevator actually made it to their destination or if they'd be stuck in the elevator until the air either ran out of oxygen or they starved to death. She followed the footprints in the dust upward, occasionally eating one of the cakepops she'd bought at a Starbucks earlier in the day. She didn't have that big of a sweet tooth, but she'd always found it hard to resist any kind of cake. If that meant she ate nineteen cakepops at a time occasionally... Well, that was alright.

The footprints lead her to the top floor, where she saw that there wasn't actually a door. She was no interior designer, but not having a door there seemed to be a bad plan to her- Ah, no, she could see it a few feet away, laying on the floor. She kind of wondered if her father had done that, but allowed her eyes to venture up to see the people standing in the room. Quite a few looked to be a few lesser known villains, whom she'd become familiar with in the time she sometimes (frequently) spent doing research on the local villains. A small blush crossed her face at the sight of so many of her idols research subjects standing in one room together. She'd have been lying to herself if she said a life of crime hadn't interested her, but she'd always hesitated because of the fact that her parent was a hero. Speaking of, why was he standing in a room full on criminals?

Her arms tightened around the bag of pastries clutched to her chest, which still contained a few muffins and cakepops. As dangerous as it was, she had no problem entering a room if her father was in there, but the fact that she was painfully shy made her hesitant to move from where she was standing. There were so many people in that room, and her dad certainly wouldn't want her there- well, as long as she stayed quiet, he wasn't exactly a very attentive person and had missed her in a room before. A lot of people missed her, she attributed that to the fact that she wasn't exactly the talkative type. Then again, blending in was the job of a ninja, and life seemed to have thrown a bunch of powers that seemed very ninja-like at her, so maybe her lack of a presence was related to that? ... No, she doubted that.

She managed to step into the room and started quickly walking over to the wall. She was kind of bargaining on nobody trying to talk to her by reading how she held herself; head down, arms pulled as close to her as she could get, clearly nervous to be around so many other people. Her plan went awry when she apparently tripped over her own feet and, in her desperation to not hit the ground, wrapped her arms around whatever was closest to her to catch herself. Unluckily for her, what she ended up hugging herself to was the chest of a (pretty) guy with dark blue hair. Her Starbucks bag landed in front of his feet.

  • Despite the lacking of conversation it wasn't as awkward in the room as he might've expected. It felt something like an ex-hero meet-and-greet than a villainous meetup for diabolical intentions. The powers that had been presented today revealed plenty on what the team had to offer, it wouldn't be a boring composition in any instance. Turning he noticed that the girl, Historaia, was moving away from the space near to him. He moved a bit, still near to the wall but supporting his own weight rather than relying on the wall. "I'm inclined to agree with Historaia, knowing our purpose would benefit us greatly." He would follow up to the girls statement. He assumed that the team wouldn't be all too keen on subtlety anyways, as most of them had displayed their powers to be quite... flamboyant- for lack of a better word.

His vision had moved to the elevator but he turned for a moment to look in the direction of Hunter, the being on his arm to be specific. He had heard the being speak, something that an animal shouldn't be capable of... maybe this was another member who could shape-shift. He jotted it down mentally before his gaze turned back towards the elevator, he wondered how long the door would stay open. Most times it would close if the sensors didn't pick anything up, and neither seemed keen to move in front of it.

The crumpling of a bag found it's way to his ears, of course this didn't mean he was too keen on finding out what it was. Knowing the trend of this event it would be another of the Gentleman Thief's friends coming with grocery bags, this time however they might even have a banana mushed against their forehead. When the idea crossed his mind a small smile formed beneath the mask, he didn't allow himself to laugh about the silly idea... it would just seem strange if he had. His arms fell from being crossed to at his sides as he continued to observe, if things weren't going anywhere then maybe this wouldn't be too productive. That in mind the thought crossed him to try and sneak out subtly, no one would too much mind to one of the ice users just walking out right? With that plan in mind he turned his head towards the door, just in time to see the body of another person approaching him at a hastened pace.

He didn't have enough time to prepare any sort of counteraction, or a even barrier to stop them from hitting him. He had just a split second to do his best and anchor himself to the point where he stood, and it kind of worked. His mask had been jostled again and now dipped down to reveal part of his nose. Now he was left standing there with someone about three inches shorter than him hugging onto him, in an attempt to keep them from smacking into the wall he ended up wrapping an arm around the being- giving off the appearance of him hugging them back with one hand. Blinking for a moment the surprise faded and his calmer demeanor took over, reaching up he lifted the mask back into place before looking down to the girl. "You alright?" He asked simply before glancing down by his feet, a bag rested there... likely what they'd been carrying with them. A collection of shimmering blue particles appeared as a pedestal of ice raise the bag about three feet.

Taking a moment to analyze the scene that was being made, Rin loosened his hold on the newcomer since he imagined they would be fine after the initial impact. This scene reminded him of something, he couldn't quite remember what it was though. To some extent this fired of allot of parallels between depictions of 'Bumping into your friend? Lover?' it was something like that, but those were works of fiction and this was real life. "Hopefully you didn't hurt yourself or anything."
    Location: Run-down apartment complex.

"I thought this would be easy. Im out of breath."

Turning over half asleep Naom felt a hand grab her shoulder. The young villain groaned and tried to turn over but was instead turned over the other causing her to open her eyes. "Yes?" She asked the unit of a man standing over her. "Were here." he responded making Naomi nod "Im just going to take a few-." Naomi began to say as she tried to go back to sleep. Feeling an arm snaking around her arm she tried to move before she was pulled out of the car by her bodyguard/fixer. Letting out a whine the glass of the cars and windows down the street vibrated intensley for a split second.

Being placed on her feet the blind villain looked like she had been sleeping for hours. Which, wasn't that far off from the truth. Her powers tired her out, but it as more along the lines of her always wanting to sleep. "Considering where we are I don't believe you will have a problem going through the lobby." She heard her body guard say as he looked inside. Still next to the limo Naomi let out an audible click. Pushing herself off the limo she walked towards the doors. Hearing a voice from behind her she froze. "Oh my god its discord. Can I have your-" Was all Naomi heard before she heard something smack the ground behind her. "I hope you only knocked tem out." Naomi said before she heard a light chuckle behind her "Of course My Lady."

Her new outfit just wasnt different enough. Ontop of that she had been on vacation for the last two weeks and hadn't been around much. "This isn't a hotel Bliden." Naomi spoke the moment she realized how it was set up. "I didn't say it was a hotel. Top floor." Bliden said to her making her grumble. Opening the doors she stepped inside to see the elevator doors on the bottom still open with some people inside. Taking a deep breath Naomi disappeared. Slipping onto the elevator the girl completely focused on keeping her breath in. Time passed dreadfully slow for her. The moment she heard the doors open she quickly stepped out, the noise of her footsteps gave her a basic idea of what was in the room and where those inside of it were.

Quickly weaving around some people she let out her breath. Finally reappearing it was as if she had come out of no where. Clutching her chest Naomi felt like she was going to pass out. "I think I held my breath for to long." The woman said before sinking in the nearest chair.

Arsene noticed the rustling in the grocery bags a tad bit too late, as a strange creature seemed to come out of it. Arsene could feel the name of the species on the tip of his metaphorical tongue, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He knew it started with a T, but the simple question of what it was wasn't as important as why it was even there to begin with. He had seen it jump out of Isaac's bag and was very tempted to begin scolding the other then and there, but he decided to save his punishment and... harsher words for Isaac. That was a possible security threat! Did the other not understand that? The glare of anger he was giving the creature was sharper then most daggers he had in his position. As he stared at the creature, he noticed how it went to Jared of all people. That man was going to owe him an explanation, and give him a good reason not to kill the animal and skin it alive at that.

He was only brought back to his protege by the other's strange questioning about queen ants. He stared for a moment, eyes softening their previous death glare into a far more gentle stare. More so one of confusion then anything else then the hatred from before. He took a moment to sigh before responding "Yes, and queen ants are also the bosses of the entire hive. Besides, with being everyone's mommy you get to raise them to be exactly the way you desire them to be." Arsene sometimes wished he had been a mommy if only for the sake of being able to control his child to an incredibly obsessive degree. Vicariously living through someone didn't sound so bad, especially to Arsene.

Then his attention was forced back to the world as he noticed another new comer. His previous death glare from before returned as if on instinct. This time it was a girl he knew from stalking studying Ezra, one of his daughters. Why was she here? He did not remember giving her an invite, nor did he ask for any tagalongs. Besides, making her first introduction a failure- Who did she think she was? The only reason Arsene wasn't taking obvious action against the girl was due to her landing on Rin. Of course, that starbucks bag was very much pissing him off and he needed to let out some steam. In one swift motion he took out one of his daggers and threw it directly through the starbucks bag. He wasn't aiming to hurt anyone, moreso to send the message that Celeste was on incredibly thin ice with him.

Before he could see the aftermath of his actions, he found the elevator doors actually closing this time. Arsene felt a tinge of paranoia as he thought of who could it be that was using the elevators. Though when he saw the girl at the elevator, his fears were immediately eased. It was Discord, the girl he had invited out of pure obligation then actually believing she could be very helpful. Okay- that wasn't fully true, however in the case of his poor mood it was. She may have been good to have on team, but similarly to him, she was a wild card at best and he'd have to be incredibly careful with who he put her with. As the small group returned to the top floor and she took her seat with a comment, Arsene decided this was the best team he was going to get. He motioned for Isaac to follow him as he made his way to the glass table.

Within moments he was standing on it, clapping his hands twice to get everyone's attention before smiling at the group of villains gathered beneath his feet. Looking down at them from his position standing on the table was something he'd love to do for hours, but they had things they needed to do and he was the one to lead them into doing those things.
"Alright my darling harbingers of destruction, we all know why we're here. Right? That motivation of yours- whatever it may be, whatever drives you to want to destroy this world alongside your fellow villain~" Arsene took a pause before very bluntly saying "I don't care. All I desire is the destruction of this world by any means necessary, you, my harbingers of destruction, are simply those means. In this team, we will commit acts of terrorism and violence, enact vengeance on whomever does us wrong, steal candy from children! Whatever it is to pursue our ultimate goal of destroying this wretched world. If you're with me, stay quiet so I can explain our first heist~! Everyone who's not, well-" Arsene looked around the room with a mischievous smile before pulling out another dagger "This is a room of villains without anyone to hold them back, we will get rid of the witnesses. I'll personally see to it."

He quickly snapped back into his more cheerful persona, seeming to ignore the blatant threat on anyone who dared not accept becoming part of the team yet still holding the dagger in hand as a reminder. "Now, our first heist-" Arsene stepped off the table to flip off the lights so that he had more darkness to work with. The room was still illuminated enough for those to see through the window, however it was incredibly dark around the elevator and stairwell area as well as the corners of the room. Arsene returned to the table and focused his powers on creating an illusionary map of the place they were supposed to be robbing. "We will be taking over an Apple warehouse where they're storing all the phones previously found to have bombs in them, courtesy of moi." Arsene put his hand to his chest as a very detailed map of the warehouse appeared on the table. "Now, this will mostly be a test to see how my dear harbingers all work together as a team, so for the most part I will be observing you and occasionally throwing a twist in the mix to make the heist more fun~" Arsene explained with an insane glint in his eyes.

"Now, of course, as we are to be a team we all need a central homebase. As such I have purchased this great building to disguise as our hideout, it's gangster chic shall work incredibly well to hide our true whereabouts from both police and heros alike. No one would assume super villains would stay in such a run down building of their own volition. Of course, you don't particularly have much of a choice either as I'll be blowing up your homes later tonight- ah, did I not mention that in the letter?" Arsene took a second to think about if he had mentioned it before remembering he hadn't. "Oh well! Consider it twist one, your homes will be destroyed by midnight tonight, so if you'd like to get anything from your homes you'd ought to do it after the heist. But I forgot to mention, the security is going to be incredibly beefed up around midnight due to someone having already tipped off the warehouse employees..." Arsene played innocent to his own orchestration "So the heist will have to take place before midnight or else we're certainly going to be caught! And we don't even have a team name yet, how scandalous!" He chuckled evilly at his own test, before stepping away from the map. "I'll give you ten minutes to memorize the map, and no, we have no physical copies. I tried to print some out but-" Arsene remembered the incident with the printer and shuddered, "We do not speak of that day."

Arsene himself had the map and the warehouse layout fully memorized inside and out, as well as the guards and cameras placement and routines, given the place was usually cloaked in perpetual darkness so he was free to do as much scoping as he liked. The heist would have been incredibly easy for him to do himself, which was why he was shifting it onto his new team. He wanted to see what they could do with something he'd be able to do with ease, especially with how much collateral they could cause. Arsene was incredibly excited to test out his harbingers destructive capabilities, while making their lives harder with random challenges and of course, testing how selfish they were with the threat of destroying their homes. He was more then happy to push the button right now and destroy all their homes, but he decided against it.

Well, this is certainly interesting. Carrie drummed her fingers on the table as the target was explained. After a few seconds of thinking, she managed to come up with several possible ways to use her powers for the theft. "If someone can get me close to the store without being seen, I can use Lightning Leap to get inside, hopefully without setting off the alarms. Alternatively, I can see if I can snipe some of the guards. Either way, I'm not going to be blowing holes in the walls to get in- my powers aren't well suited to dealing with concrete." She shrugged- it was a serious issue in the modern world, but there wasn't much she could do about it.

Celeste turned her head upward to see exactly what she had landed on. A guy, just a bit taller than herself, with dark blue hair and a mask that appeared to have been jostled when she fell on him. She could feel his arm pressed to her back through the fabric of her coat, and she seemed to be hugging herself to his chest. He looked familiar, he was definitely one of the villains she kept tabs on online, but she couldn't quite remember what his alias was at the moment. In fact, all that was actually going through her head was some internal screaming due to the fact that she had landed on another person. This was an absolutely awful way to meet somebody, as if she was in some sort of Shoujo Anime. What's next, she'd meet him while she was running late to school, despite the fact that she'd graduated highschool at fifteen?

"I-I, uhm, I'm f-fine," Celeste stammered. At least he didn't seem angry because of her slip, angering a villain because she tripped would suck. Dying because of something like that would be pretty pathetic, and she wanted a cooler death than that. Something with explosives and gun fire, maybe she could set off some fireworks too, that was the only way she wanted to die. She steadied herself on her feet and stood straight up as the blue-haired guy let go of her. "Nothing hurt e-except my pride," Celeste laughed nervously and rubbed the back of her head, "... I didn't... hurt you, did I? Oh... Uhm... Y-You can call me... K-Kunoichi." She didn't want to give him her real name immediately, so she ended up just making up something. She liked ninjas, her powers were ninja-like, so it fit, she guessed.

She started to reach for the Starbucks bag that had been lifted off the floor for her when a dagger speared the bag and knocked it off of the pillar, though thankfully nothing fell out of it. She looked toward where the dagger had come from, her eyes landing on the man dressed in all black, then trailed back down to her bag. Silently, she knelt down and pulled the dagger out, which appeared to have become lodged in one of her muffins as the sweet bread tore through the paper bag when she gave it a good yank. She pulled the muffin off and set it down on the bag.

With a flick of her wrist, she tossed dagger in the air and skillfully caught it in her left hand. Longer than her Kunai and made of a heavier metal, but it felt good in her hand. A faint grin spread ghosted her face. "Ah, I like this." She appeared to pay no heed to the fact that the dagger had been thrown at her, more interested in the blade. Truly, she knew that she had been pushing her luck, and she was certain that the man would've had no problem with throwing the dagger into her throat instead, had he so desired. The fact that he hadn't said anything and just hit her Starbucks bag was truly a good sign. She was an intruder in a villain meeting, just a normal civilian, and wasn't immediately killed. She was afraid, but she was also used to being afraid constantly, and could ignore her fear reaction if need be.

She lived her life in fear, this fear for her life was nothing new.

Ezra turned to see what exactly Arsene was throwing a dagger at. Nobody looked injured- Wait, he recognized that yellow jacket and dark purple hair. His expression went blank for just a moment as he saw his oldest daughter holding the dagger that had just been thrown in her direction. She didn't appear to have been phased in the slightest by what had just happened, he was... Kind of impressed, honestly. That didn't matter as much as the fact that she had just stalked him here. She always had peculiar habits, but that didn't vaguely explain or excuse her- She was an adult, he couldn't punish her for- Would doing something like that even work? What was he even supposed to do in a situation like this? He wanted to turn and glare at The Phantom Thief, but...

... He needed to play this off, like any time he'd seen her when he was acting as Or la Glace. She'd appeared so frequently near his battles that pretending he didn't know her was no problem... as long as he used Or la Glace's persona or didn't speak to her. She hadn't turned around yet, so she didn't know he was looking at her. Instead of drawing attention to himself, he merely shrugged and turned back around as The Phantom Thief was climbing up on the table. The Phantom Thief had just glared and thrown a dagger at a bag, if he didn't say anything, perhaps nobody would realize Celeste wasn't supposed to be there.

He... was monologuing. Who the actual fuck monologued? Ah, so they were performing a heist today- and he was going to blow up their houses at midnight? But Ezra had moved into an apartment while hunting for a new house, because he'd been having trouble coping with living in his old house. And Noelle... Actually, it was still a while until midnight, he had plenty of time to move her to a different location. He'd moved as little stuff into that apartment as he viably could, the rest being stored at his parent's house until he found another house, so his biggest concern was his children's things.

"...You meant to put that you're gonna blow up our houses in the letter.... but forgot? God, where am I supposed to leave my youngest at this hour...." Ezra rubbed his temples. His parents would probably still be awake at this hour, so he could get them to pick her up, probably. Maybe his brother? What the actual fuck would prompt this man to think 'Well, we've had one meeting. time blow up your houses'? If he blew the damn houses up early and killed Noelle, he'd kill him.

Celeste stepped toward the map that had appeared on the table. Huh, that was an interesting power he had there, it looked like it would be good for something, definitely something. She hoped there was more to it than whatever this was. Illusions? If that was the case, then she definitely couldn't take a picture... Ah, she had an idea. She stepped up onto a chair to get a better look at the map shone on the table. To make a headband with a map dyed into it, it'd need... cotton, to be make into fabric, then cut into the right shape, after that it'd need dyed. Bare with the writer, he doesn't actually know how this works.

She pushed up her sleeve, and a faint, yellow glow came from it. She grasped the glow as it seemed to slowly grow out of her arm, proving it to actually be a solid object, After a few seconds, it fell away from her arm and assumed it's final state- a large Martial Arts Headband, with a replica of the map shone on the table on the back of it. Well, that was two-hundred calories she'd never get back because a man couldn't figure out the printer.

It would seem that Takahiro wasn't the only extra passenger as another person entered the room - and it didn't look like she - or at least he assumed this for now and this eerily reminds him of how Ezra is just as hard to pinpoint - was part of the roster. After all, it seemed like the Gentleman Thief was going to start with his plans had it not been for the untimely arrival of what looked to be his protege - who, by the way, is as odd as his teacher. It made Jared wonder if working with him would mean that they would all go a little bit crazy. Well, weren't they all a little bit inside? Anyone could argue that willingly stepping into a villain group would put you under "criminally insane". In any case, the girl had tripped over who knows what and then landed on Kaldr, who was rather kind to the girl. That got resolved quickly so it was definitely fine.

Then another one came out of the elevator as if appearing from thin air. Literally. She had appeared right beside a chair and complained about holding her breath for a tad bit longer than she was used to. Ah- could that be a requirement for her power? That as long as she held her breath, she would be able to stay invisible? While it was certainly one hell of a downside, it would still be useful in some way. "Welcome to the team." He told the girl with a small, two-finger wave. She seemed familiar but he felt like he needed a bit more time to remember who exactly she was in the hero world.

Then a knife flew over and Jared followed its movements. The blade embedded itself onto the bag that Kunoichi was carrying. She seemed very much unfazed by it and even took the dagger and declared it hers. Truly, either she was incredibly stupid or incredibly brave. By this point, he didn't doubt that she was both. The Gentleman Thief can't do anything about it anyhow. She was here now and she knew that there was a meeting. Either she was terminated or invited to join. He admittedly was curious as to what she was doing here and what she could do, so he was more inclined to have her join them. She didn't seem too afraid of villains either, so maybe she was an aspiring one.

Then finally, finally, they were going to be briefed. Now all was seated and everything was prepared. But what he didn't expect was for him to jabber on about the goals of this team. He was here for the heist - not for an entire explanation like he was being a course syllabus. But he patiently waited as Takahiro settled onto his lap - back in his tanuki form and peering at the table - turning his gaze from left to right and then back. The shapeshifter knew what was happening and could understand it so he nodded along for the Gentleman Thief's entire monologue. He didn't understand what he meant by other motives though, and bringing destruction but Jared was here so that meant it was all okay right?

Jared didn't have much to think about their boss's power as he leaned forward to look at the map of the warehouse. An Apple Warehouse takeover? That should be interesting. Not enough money in it but it could still work to his favor. Selling the parts would certainly be something appreciated by a mass number of people who can't afford regular maintenance on their phones. His head snapped back towards the Gentleman Thief as he gave them a warning that their house was literally rigged to explode at midnight. Ezra spoke out first - obviously angered by this. He didn't care about added security or whatever that warehouse had - that would be easy enough to raid as long as they played smart. But it didn't look like they could stop the bombing of their respective homes. He had to alert Daniela of it. He didn't have much in his house aside from the basic furnishings and some souvenirs from previous hunts, but still.

"You could have just told us to stay here." He grumbled to himself as he shook his head before looking back at the map. Time to do this quickly and hope he can get back in time to retrieve his things and put them in this dusty old building. He then looked at Livewire as she gave them a suggestion. "If it's busting through concrete, Zoe and I can definitely break through them. But slipping in is better than blowing holes - much faster too provided our agents on the inside can open the door quick enough for us to raid." Jared began, tapping his fingers against his thigh and not noticing that Takahiro had slipped off. "Anyone in here good in infiltrating? I have brute force so I can take more than a few pesky guards but we need to get inside first."

"As much as I want to just blow everything up, we also can't risk them calling for backup. It's an Apple Warehouse - there's bound to be a panic button there and the police would be swarming it in minutes." He continued to reason. Stealth at first would really be the best chance they have of this being a success. Take out the security room first and the others can just waltz in and defeat everything in sight - kill or incapacitate, he didn't care. As long as they get them all knocked out and all the employees gone then they could call it a mission success.

Takahiro, however, had paid no attention to it - preferring to investigate a new scent that had appeared in the room but was further away from the others. It was... odd, to say the least. It didn't smell at all like a human would - well, it does but only a little bit. It seems more serpentine in nature. He scampered towards the woman and tilted his head, unafraid of her for now. However, he raised a paw towards the group as if to tell her that she should join the briefing considering the fact that she was here and that meant she was part of the team, yes?
