Heroic Mortals

Yes they do.  I am currently playing a HM so we had to go through this already in my game.

And by those means alone did one kill a Solar of the Dawn caste in my game. Poor bastard died on the same tick though.

If you are playing with "just" mortals, is can be recommended to use 'Hero points' (almost like Force points from the D6 version of Star Wars if any of you know that game :) ). All your players start with one HP, and then if they feel like doing something heroic they can use their HP and count 10 as double succ. If they actually manage to succeed in their task their get their point back plus an extra - and when they reach 10 HP they are genuine Mortal Heroes.

Of course if they reach 0 HP their will have a hard time using any, and the ST should grand then a new one after doing something really heroic a number of times.

Used this method of making heroes a number of times with equally good results.

Because Stunts are so hard?

Not to be a dick, but Heroic Mortals should be just as Stuntalicioius as Exalts, though they don't get 3 die bonuses or the same kind of Essence recovery, but that still should allow them lots of great Heroic Mortal action.

Heroic Mortals don't get 3-die stunts?  Is this canon?

Also, don't forget that they can spend Willpower to channel their Virtues into rolls.  Since they don't have to spend it for charms or combos, that gives them a little boost.

I like the Hero Points idea but, perhaps, you should have a Heroic Pool instead.  It would work like this.  All heroic mortals would begin with a Heroic Pool of one.  It would cost two BP to raise the Heroic Pool during character creation.  A Heroic Pool has a maximum rating of the (combined Virtues)+(Willpower) of the heroic mortal.  Heroic Pool costs (2*current level) in XP to improve.  The heroic pool has temporary and permenant dots.  A heroic mortal may spend one temporary heroic to add heroic poll to a single action.  A heroic mortal may spend one temporary Willpower to recover one temporary heroic pool.  A true mortal hero, with a heroic pool of 30, would be able to do almost anything.

Yes.

Then again, they don't have the same options when it comes to regaining WP that Exalts do...

True, but like everybody else they roll Conviction every day to regain Willpower, so still that's no big deal.

I wouldn't bother with the Hero Points or anything like that.  I would just say that they'd be able to spend Willpower to add their Virtue in dice that many times per day rather than per story.
