Futuristic Heroes of Kingland

Fraye opened her mouth to reply but the girl had already flittered away, which she was grateful for. She peered up at her brother and poked him again.

"Don't be so grumpy, huh? We all know you're soft," she teased, and refrained from the impulse to tickle him the way they had done as kids. She knew he was dangerously ticklish, something she knew he'd never admit to his subordinates.

Aia assumed the girl had spoken to her. She looked down and responded "Aia. Thank you" She looked confused by the girls statement she shrugged. "If you got a light go for it" she didn't care her hair wasn't real anymore she brushed her hair back and it shimmered with tiny blue sparks. She smiled smugly at the tiny girl.

@Nutter

"You've got 2 seconds to get in line girl. You won't be in for a pleasant experience if you don't" Captain Drake growled angrily. "And you with the black hair, you do the same" he commanded his expression remained as cold as usual.

In mere seconds the small, nevertheless legal adult had her lucky lighter outstretched toward those long black tresses. Fortunate for those tresses, she took too long trying to get it aflame before being interrupted.

Wylie responded to the captain's harsh look by sticking her tongue out at the man. What's so wrong with making friends? After all, these people would be spending plenty of time with each other in the near future. He was no fun at all. Pouting, she reluctantly scooted into the line. Not that she was at all quiet about it.

"Two seconds isn't really enough time, eh? Her hair is really pretty! Actually," she grinned, "your hair would be pretty on fire too, Cap..." Then the lighter was open and her feet were moving on their own accord, eyes glowing and giddy.

Fraye wheeled around, stared at the woman that couldn't seem to hold still, she wasn't much taller than her.

"Are you crazy? If you can't control your impulses I can hardly see you as fit for being here." The words itself weren't the kindest, but Fraye's voice always held a gentleness that she despised but couldn't quite control.

Aia smiled a little she was delighted in her enhancements. As the captain barked his harsh words Aia gave him a harsh glare and stepped into line. So far not the most amusing job. Aia looked at the argument that began behind her, crossed her arms, leaned back and smiled. The only thing I need is some popcorn.

"Get walking" Captain Drake commanded as he lead them towards the barracks. He walked in his usual fashion, eyes forward, back straight, all business. Other recruits stared at the group as they walked, clearly knowing why he decided to lead them, but not uttering a word.

The lighter snapped shut, the flame abruptly extinguished.

The slight brush of combat boots quieted, the movement gone in a moment.

The smile on Wylie's face hadn't even faltered for a moment, the mirth actually increased.

"Obviously!"

Then she was moving again, hurrying after their new captain with a new fire lit. She weaved her way to the front of the line with flailing arms. Several people fell, but that she didn't seem to notice. "Cap! Oh, Ca~ap! I was serious about your hair! Honestly!"

Dylan watched the rest of his squad with interest, taking mental notes on how each of them acted and interacted with eachother as he leaned on a wall in the shadows. Then the captain called to line up and go to the barracks. He slipped into the back of the line and quietly followed everyone else, practically hiding in his black sweatshirt as he glided behind them.

Eventually the squad arrived to their barracks. "Alright, door to the left, that's the female barracks, to the right the mens. You will remain in your seep at barracks unless allowed otherwise. Enter, put your things in a footlocker, and I'll greet you afterwards" Captain Drake stated to them, very clear about the separation rules. Last thing he wanted was any man near his sister.

"Woo! This is awesome!" Wylie was already picking her way around the barracks, chattering about this and that and how it was just like the summer camp her parents had sent her to when she was fourteen. It was so alike, it was practically uncanny. There were bunks just like the ones in front of her and a bunch of grumpy, stoic teenagers all around. Oh, her counselor had been a lot like Cap (this nickname for the unfortunate Drake would be staying, apparently,), except he had more of a temper than this guy. They'd also been forced to wear these comfy camouflage clothes and run around with other angry men and women yelling at them. She prattled on like it was the best camp ever (which, if you could not tell by now, it was not, at least not for a normal person; in reality it was this horrible boot camp for delinquents and misfits, but Wylie couldn't know the difference,) and it didn't seem like there'd bee an end to her story until she threw her one heavy duffel bag into a foot locker with a resounding bang. "My parents picked me up after one week, though. Mr. Counselor was all red-faced and spitting when talking to them about my most recent project. It was one of my most successful, but it ended up setting the old guy on fire just a little bit. Ah, well."

Finally finished, she found that everyone else was rather quiet. Hm, that wouldn't do at all. She waved at the black-haired girl who she'd attempted to talk to earlier before being interrupted, an easy smile spread across her face. "Hey, hey! We're sharing a bunk, okay? I like the top, if you don't mind." She then turned to point at the one who'd questioned her sanity. "Lil' sis! You can take the bunk next to us. That way we can talk all we want. Yes, yes, that's perfect! Oh, but where will I set up..."

Captain Drake stood with his arms crossed, waiting for them to get themselves settled. He closed his eyes shaking his head, wondering what he had gotten himself into as he heard them prattle on. The frustration was continuously increasing. "The things I do for my sister" he growled to himself.

I rolled my eyes as I placed things in the barracks. How in the hell am I in the BARRACKS?! I rather be in a lab than in the field but rules and orders pertain above me so I must obey without question. Looking at the others of my squad, I made a mental note of keeping clear of anyone even the captain less he ordered me to do something productive.

l she pushed through the doors of the barrack letting them slam behind her. She looks around the barracks. "Nice, this shabby area where I have to live in with god knows how many girls is so much better than my large cabin outside of the city" sarcasm oozing out of every word. Aia rolls her eyes as the girl she was talking to earlier gave her orders "Thank you, but I prefer the top, better when an attack" She walked to the back corner of the barracks and jumped up on the top bunk. She turned over facing the wall.

Drake entered the female barracks, his arms behind his back. "Stand at attention" he ordered as he walked past. He faced Aia, staring into her eyes with his icy gaze. "What's your name? What faction are you attempting to join? And why?"

"Eh?" Wylie whined, falling into line with the other girls again. She was reluctant to give up the top bunk, but she figured she'd have more space for her stuff on the bottom anyways. Plus, she would be right next to Cap's sister. So when the man began to interrogate her bunk mate, she didn't fake a pout. Instead she waited intently, wondering the same about that girl.

Aia turns to the sound of the door opening, and as the gruff Captain entered into the building Aia turned over looking at him. As the Captain gave her a stare, Aia stared back with a frigid gaze looked him right in the eye as she slid from the top bunk and stood at attention. "Aia. Fox. I was drafted."Short simple and to the point, no need to go into her family's past or her attack.

"Very well" Captain Drake responded with a nod. "As for you, the crazy one. Same question." he said referring to Wylie.

Bright lavender eyes shifted from Aia onto their captain when he addressed her. Wylie's nose scrunched up as she thought about her answer. The moment of silence hung in the air as she decidedly dragged it on. This was perhaps the quietest she had been since entering that hall of recruits earlier.

Of course, quiet and Wylie mixed like oil and water. With the added heat of Drake's words, a fire bloomed and the short pilot was spewing out her words.

"I'm Wylie Bristol, didn't ya here me when I told you earlier, Cap? We should get your hearing checked out if you didn't. Well, my uncle's buddy in the Falcon unit is giving me twenty gallons of petrol for joining him there. I would've agreed for less, but why argue when he'd already offered, eh? To be completely honest, though, I really wanna fly those new jets my uncle and the man were going on about! But don't tell my parents. They don't like it when I talk about my flying. My mom got really mad when I told her I was joining the Air Force, yelling at my uncle for 'being a bad influence' and 'putting too much pressure on such a young girl' and whatnot." She went as far as to make air quotes with her fingers as she mimicked her mother's stern voice. Her own voice was as upbeat as ever as she recounted the details of her situation in great depth.

"My dad just sat there looking like he had really bad constipation. He cried when I got on the bus headed here - oh, don't tell him I said that either!" Wylie gave a panicked look at the captain and moved to grab his forearms to punctuate her sentence before giving way to an excited smile. "Anyways, I get to blow things up now! Hm, I wonder how big of a blast those twenty gallons will get me..." She was positively glowing at the thought of that explosion, bouncing up and down with undeniable giddiness.

Captain Drake stared back at her, shaking his head slightly. "At ease" he said, baffled by the lengthy explanation. Quickly his eyes shifted to Seacan. He stood in front of her, glaring as he did at the others. "Your turn".

I saw his glare and tilted my head to the left a little.

"My name is Seacan Gaia. I'm in R&D. Could give two shits about why but I rather have MY research not be used by others if they claim it was theirs. Anything else?"

I said before looked down at my left hand finger nails.

"Ooh, an R&D recruit!" Wylie exclaimed, completely popping Seacon's personal bubble by leaning in close to stare unabashedly at the girl next to her. "You must know how to make big bombs then. I don't really fully understand all of that fuddy duddy science behind it, but they make gigantor blasts - way larger than my petrol I bet!"

I slowly look at the hyper idiot before narrowing my eyes.

"I make weapons that can blow your head right off your shoulders. Now will you get away from me?"

I said with a frown
