Fantasy Heroes and Nightmares

The girl had attacked Gunner, throwing a ball of dark magic toward him. It hit him in the face, throwing him to the ground momentarily. He quickly stood back up, his face slightly scarred from the girl's attack. He quickly created a staircase of ice that lead him to the rooftops as he started his pursuit on the Hero. He was angry now.

"Get back here!" He started throwing a barrage of sharp ice sickles at her as he kept chasing after her. She was fast, and smart.

Elizabeth looked over her shoulder and saw the living nightmare behind her. She started to doge the ice sickles he threw at her. One of them got her in her leg and she lost balance. She almost fell but she was able to keep flying.

Nicolas was going home after having to make a couple detours to run some erreands for his parents at the dojo. The shop he always goes to has been closed for investigation because the man there got murdered. Now he just came from another shop along with Toyz the Tiger. The tiger was carrying some of the bags in his jaws and Nick was carrying the rest of the bags. The people around him are a bit wary of him since it's not everyday you see a man walking with a Tiger. He saw the lightning signal earlier but couldn't go since he and Toyz were busy training looking for a shop to get the items from. Eventually they found a shop with the items they got and he managed to convince the shop owner to lower the price with the help of Toyz. Now the two were just a couple blocks away from the dojo when he was walking past an alley were there was a fight going on. He arrived just in time to see a Hero stopping a fight. What happens next was totally unexpected where someone seemed to fall from the sky and he immediately addresses the Hero that stopped the fight. The two had a bit of a conversation and after a little while both of them took off.

Nick was a bit stunned and wanted to see this to the end so he gave Toyz the rest of the bags and told him to drop them off at the dojo and come back to find me.

(Yes I can talk to a Tiger and understand what he is trying to say)

Toyz: * low growl* Translation:"Fine but you owe me stomach rub for this. Also some fish would be nice too."

Nicolas: Fine I'll give you a stomach rub and fish now hurry.

Toyz runs off with all the bags of grocery in his mouth. Now to see whats going on. He prepares his hands and feet for flight as they charge up which takes 4 secs and he takes off. He can fly pretty fast and has no trouble seeing the chase happening on the rooftops. He wants to see how this plays out so he ascends to the clouds and watches the chase which he will only intervene If the hero looks like she will get in trouble which for the moment she seems to be doing fine. The view from the clouds is absolutely breathtaking he can pretty much see the whole city from up here. He flies over the dojo as the chase seems to go toward his dojo and he wants to get ahead.

Nicolas: 18 mins of flight time left.

He flashes a signal to the Tiger to signal where he is at the moment. The tiger looks up and follows the signal and he is now running parallel with him. Nicolas in the air and Toyz on the ground. Now he waits for things to get interesting

The walk home had been a fairly relaxing one, though he'd been anything but relaxed. There was an ice elemental that also was a living nightmare on the loose...he could be anywhere. He sat at his desk pondering what could be done to combat him. Unfortunately when it came to facing him, he figured it was going to be a tit-for-tat process of using their powers, and the other canceling it out. Though a troubling thought did cross his mind. There would be escalation, at some point, he'd get angry, he'd get sadistic, and that was a place he didn't want to go back to anytime soon. "Though the coward would probably run away before that happened...yeah...I'd never end up going to that point again."

Gunner had had enough of the chase and was ready to end it. He started trying to freeze the girl from afar, he had already hit her in the leg with a sickle. After failed attempts at freezing her, he was close enough to just tackle her. So that's what he did. His right eyes was tearing up from her magic attack from earlier, this only slightly threw off his tackle attempt, grabbing her leg instead of torso. He generated an Ice block that cushioned their fall onto a rooftop below. In addition to the ice block, Gunner still had the dagger in his right hand, he wound up his arm, about to stab the girl with it.

Elizabeth fell down with the Nightmare onto a rooftop. Luckily the guy made a ice block that cushioned their fall. Elizabeth knew the guy was not going to quit so she put her hands together and made a force field that stopped the guy from getting near her.

"Why do we fight?"

To ask that question...is to ask why leaves fall.

"It is simply in their nature."

Perhaps...there is a better question. How come one single nightmare managed to get away from 4 heroes?Four of Ignition's elites.Men and women who have come to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

How come one of the toughest little nails Berendil knew tore down in tears at the sight of a scum?

How come the other 3 could not manage to catch him?

How come evil still lurks around when there is nothing but misery?

"Misery loooves company..."

The question does not leave the man's head

"But why do we fight? To protect home...and family! To bring harmony to a place forgotten by luck...and abandoned by hope."

Because for our kind...the true question is...

"What is worth fighting for?"

That question sank in Berendil's head for the whole night.

((Let that sink in for a moment...))

There is a bigger storm approaching than the peacefulness of today's rain.

"We need...to get ready...it will rain fire."

From above Nicolas saw the whole thing unraveling and feels like he should intervene. That attack he just saw confirmed that the aggressor is a nightmare so he sends Toyz to the scene to deal with the him and he starts to descend at a very quick rate I might add. While on the descent he notices that the girl put up a force field to protect herself. Which gave Toyz enough time to pounce on him. There isn't a soul alive that can stop Toyz from getting to his target. His Fire elemental nature protects him from any from of ice attacks which is perfect for a guy like this. As he lands he greets the girl who put up a good chase. Toyz is doing his job of pinning the guy to the ground.

"Hello there glad to see I made it on time."

He melts the ice block that was on her foot that kept her from moving

"Toyz apprehend!"

The tiger swipes his massive paw on the perpetrators head to knock him unconscious if he wasn't already by then and carries the man with his neck in the tigers jaw just in case if he were to wake up and try anything funny Toyz can easily snap it.

"Might I ask your name? I've met with some heroes already but I haven't seen you around lately."

Elizabeth looked at the other hero who just attacked the nightmare, she was scared of the guy´s fire powers since she hated fire.

"I´m.. i´m Elizabeth"

She seemed pretty shaken from the whole ordeal but nonetheless he caught a Nightmare which is a pretty big score since he got money for every nightmare caught.

"Well Elizabeth I'm gonna take this guy back to the station so I'll catch you later and by the way I'm not a huge fan of shadows. Alright Toyz lets head back to the station. I'm sure the other heroes back at the station would love this guy."

Toyz and Nicolas head back to the station ASAP with Nick flying and Toyz running with quarry in jaw. He hopes that Toyz doesn't accidentally break his neck like the last one. He walks into the station with Toyz carrying the random nightmare in his jaw. He checked the guy at the station when they arrived to find out that the guys neck is still intact and he's still breathing.

"Hey guys check out the catch of the day. This guys got ice powers that almost killed on of our own. He was a pretty feisty one I had to knock him out so I'll just leave him and Toyz to play in the Dungeon. Tell me if he wakes up I'll be on the roof."

Berendil was the only one left at the station. He was about to leave when suddenly, the air became colder and Nicolas busted in really excited

"Well well well, look at what the cat brought home...haul him in the high security cell. You did really well,Nicolas"

Berendil was visibly shaken...he couldn't believe his eyes, maybe he was getting old.

Elizabeth made the force field dissapear and got down from the rooftop. She was walking home until she realized she was really near the hospital where her brother was. She entered quietly and entered the room where her brother was. She saw Jake and Matt (her brothers) Jake looked at her and hugged her. Matt was still in bed deep in a terrible coma.

"Any news?"

"Nah, he is still in the same conditions. The doctors said he was getting better"

"Have you been here the entire day?"

"Yeah."

Jake noticed something in Elizabeth´s leg and gasped

"What the hell is that?"

"I got in a fight with a nightmare. Another hero arrived and captured him"

"That´s why I didnt want you to become a hero Elizabeth! You are going to end up dead!"

"I dont want this conversation again. Can we just go home?"

"Fine.."

Rath. Who had spent the last hour or so scouring the rooftops. To no avail apparently. As he was now sullenly walking back to the police precinct in the middle of the night.

He reasoned someone had to be there, and they probably had some kind of evil for him to vanquish. It was a last resort to hopefully fight some crime today. So he didn't have to go to sleep knowing how terrible a hero he was if he didn't kill at least one murderer a day.

And. As he made his way to the station, and it was visibly still lit up, and the door had also, just as he glanced. Swung to a close, signifying the entry...or exit, of someone.

Well, he then made the door swing open once more. To walk into the seemingly empty precinct. Until glancing over and seeing Berendil and a unidentified looking person with a vaugley familiar person in seeming captivity.

"Hello? Berendil? Is that a murderer?"

"Alive and kicking,Rath. He is on his way to our most prized "Titan Cage" where he will spend a very big amont of time"

Berendil said with a big smile on his face.

Clearly the monologue from earlier had served practically nothing,Berendil just stood there at the station doing paperwork. He sure felt irreplaceable.

He was about to go to the roof when another hero comes in looking down in the dumps probably a nightmare that escaped him. He knew his name but that's about it. He seemed intrigued when he saw the perp in the Tigers jaw

"I call it the Dungeon but Titans Cage is good too. Come to think of it I should probably make sure that Toyz doesn't eat him like some of the other guys I brought in. You wanna come with maybe seeing him up close in the Tigers jaw should clear things up."

*motions for Rath to come with*

-Ayumi-

Ice Elemental Caught and Turned in today by Hero. Read the paper that Ayumi picked up. The article held a picture of her brother in chains. She grabbed her new, black swords and dropped the newspaper and began heading out for the police station.

-Gunner-

Gunner woke in chains and in a cage, Heros standing, watching him. He had been beaten in the fight with the girl. He knew nothing else, other than he was now looked at as a fool...a weakling among everyone in Ignition. He heard few of the heros talking about him, his hearing was still muffled, his head pounding. He could hear a door being kicked open by someone, the same person then began banging on the cage he was in and yelling something at him. He knew who it was.

-Ayumi-

After a long, Anger-filled walk over to the police station, Ayumi kicked the door open and entered, walking right to where Gunner was begin held. She walked past the Heros who were already there and began banging and kicking the cage.

"You stupid son of a bitch! I hate you! I might just bail you out so I can kill you myself!" She began punching the cage door as hard as she could. "I. Hope. You. Die!" This time, there were no tears, only hate and anger in her voice.

Rath. Who had ended up spending the night at the station pestering Berendil as to if he could execute the villian. (He planned to do it anyway, but he thought it was polite to ask). Was now pacing around the front door, considering the best method of torturing this justice-hating scoundrel that was in the holding cell. Sitting there. A mockery of his ethics. Not being killed.

And as he was pondering this, the front
door suddenly flew open and almost knocked him off of his feet with the sheer intensity of the kicker, Who would be the, again vaguely familiar hero that he had witnessed hesitate to stab the evil-doer. Although she seemed quite eager to do so now. And following the yelling and kicking of her as she rushed in, ended up near the holding cell. yelling profanities and threats at the one in the cage.

"If you'd like. I can stab him for you."

Nicolas had just came in to the station riding Toyz because he was too tired to walk. Toyz eventually dumped him in front of the coffee machine and pretty much licked him awake so he could get a cup of coffee to give him a boost. Eventually he drank his coffee. Then he heard something coming from the Dungeon and decided to see if the guy he caught was acting up. But as he went down to the Dungeon he saw that Ayumi was the one acting up and Rath seemed pretty pissed. So out of curiosity he decided to ask.

"So I'm guessing you have a history with Mr. Freeze who I caught yesterday."

Rath approached Ayumi in the holding room where the only people inside, were Gunner, Ayumi, and a few guards. Rath had offered to stab Gunner for her.

"Rath, as much as I wish I could say yes, I don't want you getting locked up too. Plus..." She thought for a moment and smirked. "I'll just wait until he gets out, then I'll gut him myself." Her smirk disappeared as she approached the cage again. This time a young guard stepped in her way.

Ayumi leaned around the officer and looked gunner in the eyes. "You not a Thayer anymore. You never were." He kicked the cage. "Hope you like it in her, bitch." She turned to walk out as Nicholas came into the station.

-Gunner-

"You not a Thayer anymore. You never were." This rang in Gunner mind as it left Ayumi's mouth, her still breathing mouth. He snapped and jumped to the wall of the cage, sticking his arms out in an attempt to grab her. The cage immediately threw him back to the middle.

"I'm gonna kill you, and all your little friend here! You're right, I'm not part of that stupid family. Mom and dad loved you so damn much, they deserved it! Those assholes left me when you were born you little bitch!"

-Ayumi-

"So I'm guessing you have a history with Mr. Freeze who I caught yesterday." Nicholas asked Ayumi.

She snickered, "That thing was my brother." She looked back as Gunner began yelling. "And you'll get what you deserve ya fuckin' ice cube." She exited the room and paced back and forth. She didn't know what to do. She wanted to kill him, but she didn't mean all of what she said...he would always be a Thayer...always her brother.

Nicolas was a little shocked when he heard that the criminal in behind bars was related to a fellow hero.

"Tsk tsk tsk. Dude you fucked up badly. I mean how can you do that to your sister. You should be lucky that my buddy Toyz here didn't snap your neck in his jaws on the way here. The worst he did was play with your unconscious body for about 10 mins before I pulled him back. Maybe If you're lucky you get to choose how to die. Come on Toyz lets go on our usual patrol."

Toyz gives the guy a low hostile growl before going up with Nick.

"Well time to go look for some nightmares. Maybe I'll get an actual opponent worth fighting."

Nick and Toyz go off to do their usual patrol of the city.

Grinning with the blade of the hatchet connected with solid flesh, Grey relished in the sensation of it cutting through, particularly the wet, heavy sound the impact made. He was ready to strike again, continue hacking this beautiful woman to pieces when suddenly he found he could not draw back the hatchet for something appeared to have locked it in place. Grunting, he yanked at the handle, but to no avail. His face contorted, invisible in the darkness, his right eye twitching as he snarled low in his throat, trying to use both hands to retrieve the hatchet from whatever it had become lodged in.

Then he felt it; the blood working its way up his hands. At first he had no idea what the hell was going on, managing to pull back one arm, but the other hand was locked it place, coated with some strange liquid. Then he recognised the smell, and with a mix of horror and delight he dispersed the cover of darkness in the room just so he could admire it. A coat of blood had encased his left arm from the fingers up to the crook of his elbow. It was the singularly most beautiful gift he had ever seen.

He screamed, however, when the blood crushed his arm into pieces. The bone and muscle were torn apart, and when the blood withdrew his arm was a mangled mess, bubbling with angry, black energy, the limb almost unrecognisable. Staggering back in pain, Grey nursed the wound, before looking up at the hero with a glare. From the shadows on the walls, spikes began to grow, closing in on all sides on the noble hero, long, needle sharp, and black as shadow.

Berendil was standing outside the cell, looking at Gunner through the small openings.

He couldn't help but stare,he was so absorbed of the whole ordeal that he wasn't even blinking.

The man hadn't slept the whole night, yet there he was staring at the nightmare that made Ayumi break down in tears.

"You'll stay here for a loooooong time"he muttered to himself

A wave of relief washed over Ivory as the cover of darkness lifted from the room, though it was mixed with confusion. She hadn't been expecting the guy to give up his advantage so easily. The confusion she felt was soon replaced by an odd mix of fear, and flattery as she realized just why he'd lifted his veil. She could see it in his expression, he was admiring the situation he was in, just what kind of psychopath was she up against?

Grimacing, she constricted the blood around his arm, crushing it into a tattered mess. Re-liquifying the blood she'd used she retreated back into a more defensive position as she tired to ignore the pain shooting through her arm, keeping her eyes on the man as he recovered from her own attack. Seeing the shadows around to room once again begin to contort, this time into a forest of inky black spikes, she withdrew a few vials from her pockets, accidentally cutting herself on one that had broken in the scuffle.

Throwing the vials in the air she forcibly uncorked them, several small streams of blood spilling from their mouths as the spun through the air. Pulling blood from the vials, and a hefty amount directly from her body, Ivory formed a carapace like layer of around around her torso, neck and head, protecting her from any fatal wounds. Only a fraction of a second later though, she felt the mans attack land, the sea of spike turning her arms and legs into pincushions. Screaming in pain her defenses dropped, the armor returning to it's liquid form and puddling around her. Letting him land the first attack had been a massive mistake, and she was going to pay with her life for it if she didn't get away soon. Trying to pull away though was met only with failure, her arms and legs were still impaled on the man's attack and she'd lost too much blood to break free. Clenching her teeth she stared angrily at the man, not seeing a way out of this situation.

So Nick and Toyz were just out doing their patrol when all of a sudden Toyz stops for a minute and takes off going east. So Nick goes after the Tiger to see what got in to him. The Tiger seemed to be in a hurry but Nick had to run because flying would take too much out of him.

"Hey Toyz wait up would you."

When Nick finally got to the scene he saw a pretty bloody sight. Which is probably why Toyz ran off like that he can smell blood from miles away and judging from the amount that was in the area it was a miracle Toyz didn't attack already. Normally he would've been beserk right now but this looks like a strong opponent right before him. Toyz was standing in a defensive posture flames on and growling at the man who looks like he was about to finish off his victim.

"Toyz what the hell has gotten in to-. Holy shit the hell happened here?"

Stabbing the hero was fun. Grey could feel each black spike impaling her skin, or, at least he thought he could. Those sorts of things were getting pretty hard to tell apart nowadays. Watching the blood that she had so beautifully contorted and controlled leak from her body and fall away from her protection as she lost control over it was mesmerising. He'd never seen blood behave in such a way, and he had seen his fair share of blood. What a truly gorgeous ability.

When the hero became incapable of fighting back, however, Grey was still eager for more. The elongation of the spikes slowed as he waited, anticipating the joys of watching something else. With such a gift, he could imagine all sorts of gorgeous displays. Could she control the blood of others? Could she rip it from their bodies? Could she rip it from her own? He could only imagine what that would look like. What would it feel like to have the blood torn from his veins, he wondered.

As he watched and wondered, however, she did not fight back. She did not tear the blood from his veins, nor from her own. Instead she merely glared at him, too weak to help herself, or to fight back with those intoxicating powers.

When Grey realised she was defeated, his smile vanished and his stomach twisted with disappointment. He wanted a fight, to see more of those abilities, not to have her fall limp like all the rest. Shaking slightly with anger, he flicked his fingers and the spikes dispersed into a misted cloud of shadow, dropping the hero to the ground in a puddle of her own blood. Perhaps she would bleed out and die. Part of him hoped she would not, for he wished to play with her again someday, when she was stronger and could show him more. For now, however, he had a bad case of bloodlust, and knew that she could not satisfy it. There was no fun in a game already decided.

Glancing up at those who had newly entered - morons, judging by their decision to question the situation rather than react directly - Grey ignored them, for he doubted that they could control blood, and thus were the least interesting. Instead, he walked over to the hero's body and rested the sole of his foot upon one of her leg wounds. "Be better next time. I don't want someone else to kill you before I do," he told her, entirely serious. He then looked back up at the two stood in the doorway, and vanished back into the shadows in the space of a second.
