Her Shining Escape

Climbing under the blanket after Sarah laid down she smiled. "It's not to cramped so it shouldn't be to hard to sleep," she said as she curled up to her friends side. She wouldn't say it out loud, but for some reason anytime Sarah shared a bed with her it made it easier to sleep. Hearing her friends words however did set her a little on edge. What if Arun did try to do something while they slept.

Hiding her own worry she smiled up at the other girl. "Don't worry so much, it will give you wrinkles," she joked hoping to put her friend at ease enough to rest. Laying there next to the beautiful fae girl the princess began to play with her friends lovely green hair. After a while her eyes began to droop and sleep claimed her. As she fell asleep one more sentence left her lips, "I love you Sarah," she said while unconsciously placing her arms around her friend and pulling her close to her body.

Unknown to the occupants of the room the shadowy figure watched the scene with narrowed eyes. Dropping the arrow that he had, had ready he sighed, he couldn't take out the princess without hitting the fae. Deciding that he could wait till the morning when the prince's guard would arrive the shadow jumped out of the tree he had taken up residence in and left.

Sarah nodded, "It is kind of cozy." She replied, gently putting a hand on Abigail's side. It felt surprisingly nice sharing a bed with her, she wasn't sure why, she guessed it was just because she was such a good friend and she cared for her deeply. She still couldn't help but worry slightly on if Arun would try something or not, but she doubted it heavily. She giggled lightly when her friend told her not to worry so much. She was right, she really shouldn't. Besides she was a light sleeper anyways, if he came into the room she'd likely wake up. Or if anyone did for that matter. Than again Arun was a pretty stealthy person so she wasn't sure.

She moved her head slightly when she started playing with her hair, the action tickling slightly. She blushed heavily when she told her she loved her and pulled her close to her before she fell asleep. She paused momentarily, not quite sure how to take what she said. She could be vastly over thinking it and she meant it as a best friends kind of thing, or she could genuinely have feelings for her. Sarah herself would be lying if she said she didn't feel something more than friendship for her at times. Perhaps Abigail felt the same way?

Nevertheless she gently kissed her forehead and wrapped an arm around her, "Love you too Abby." She whispered lowly despite her being asleep before slowly falling unconscious herself. She didn't notice the shadow outside of the window, and it was a good thing she hadn't or she'd likely of freaked out.

Waking up the next morning Abigail smiled at her friends sleeping face. Giving out a quiet giggle as Sarah's wings twitched in her sleep. Noticing their position however caused the princess to turn a not so flattering shade of red. Carefully, as not to wake her friend, she disentangled herself from the sleeping fae. Once free and on her feet she pulled the covers back over her still sleeping friend.

Making her way out of the room quietly she noticed Lemy pacing in the front room. Deciding that something was either wrong or it was a habbit she approached the old elf. "Lemy, is something the matter," she asked quietly, her soft voice causing the elder to jump.

"Oh dear princess you and Sarah must flee, and quickly" the old man said in a rush while handing two fully stocked packs to her as a knock sounded at the door. "One moment please," he yelled while shooing her back towards the guest room.

Sarah slept peacefully beside Abigail the entire night, a smile on her face as she held her to her. When Abigail woke up and moved out of the bed she whined slightly, snuggling into the bed when she covered her back up. She slept a little longer until she heard knocking at the door. At that point she woke up and stretched her arms, her wings stretching alongside her as she did. She donned a bright smile as she looked around the room, remembering that she had ran away with her best friend the day before and they were staying with Lemy.

She also remembered what she had said about Arun...worried he had made good on his plans and that's why she wasn't in bed beside her she shot up and ran to the door opening it, sighing with relief when she saw her near it. Though she tilted her head in confusion when she saw the packs she was carrying, "What's going on Abby?" She asked, "Did something happen?" She added, frowning slightly, concerned as to why she had the packs.

Turning her head quickly when Sarah opened the door she shooed her back in and closed the door. "We have to hurry, Prince Jacob's guards have found us," Abigail said the panic in her voice loud and clear. Grainger her clothes from the previous day she quickly pulled off her nightgown and changed not caring if anyone saw her in a state of undress. Turning back to Sarah she gave her most assuring smile that she could muster. She went to open her mouth to speak when a voice from outside rang out, it was Lemy.

"Ah Prince Jacob, how kind of you to visit the glen," the old elf said kindly. Abigail knew that he was stalling for them and she was grateful, but the fact that the prince had come himself unsettled her a bit. Looking out the window she saw that no one had made it past the front gate yet but Lemy had brought Madge and Apollo around back for them.

Sarah arched a brow when she was shooed in and Abigail closed the door, not sure what was wrong. Her eyes widened when she explained what was wrong, a worried frown instantly forming on her lips. "What? How?" She asked, blushing slightly as she watched Abigail change, turning away halfway through. She herself changed back into her armor after the small shock of seeing her friend change, smiling faintly at her. She, much like Abigail, was going to say something until she heard Lemy.

She looked out of the window with Abigail, noticing their horses were waiting for them. She moved to hug her friend at that point, "Don't worry Abby, I won't let them take you." She told her quietly. "C'mon, we need to go." She added, moving to open the window. "I'll go first and make sure it's clear." She said, drawing her sword and climbing out of the window, looking around to see if there were any of the Prince's guards.

Waiting a few moments Abigail followed Sarah out the window and made a dash for the horses. Strapping one pack to each of the beautiful creatures she hoisted herself into Madge's saddle. "I have a bad feeling about this, but we have got to get out of here," she said quietly as she led Apollo over to Sarah. Pulling her hood back up to cover her blonde hair she sighed. She knew that if they were caught it would be Sarah's life on the line and she refused to lose her winged friend.

Steering Madge towards the garden wall that faced into the forest she gave the horse a small spur to get her to jump the stones. "I have a feeling it was Arun that gave us away," she told Sarah quietly. She really hoped that by saying that she hadn't upset the kind fae girl.

Sarah sighed lightly when she didn't see any guards. She was going to motion for Abigail to join her but she had already climbed out herself. She stood guard while they got the horses nonetheless, muttering a small 'thank you' when she brought Apollo over to her. She sheathed her sword to climb on, putting her hood back on as she did and affixing her bag to Apollo's saddle. She nodded in agreement with her feelings, "I hope there aren't any guards waiting around." She said. "But if there are I'll gladly fight them off for you." She told her, smiling over at her before nudging Apollo to follow after her.

She sighed lightly at her words, a small frown on her face. "I hate to say it, but you're probably right." She replied. "He did mention the Prince...it only makes sense." She said. "I just don't understand why he would do any of this, or threaten you. It makes no sense.."
