Hellgate, Montana [VtM]

BcAugust

Advisor to the Queen of Cats
It's September 22 in Missoula Montana, settling in for it's coming long nights and quiet snowy days, though this night is marred by ash and blood in a dozen quiet havens, as something in the day killed elders and neonates alike without a trace and left you alive.

Welcome to winter, glad you could stay.

System: VtM 2nd ed, with a few house rules appended at the bottom.

Setting: Missoula Montana, an isolated city right outside the Rockies, where it's hundreds of miles to the next city, the day can become as dark as night from the uncounted paper mills, and the institutions of the hospital and university loom over the richer parts of town. And that just discovered that something out there has left only a few Kindred within it's boundaries, as isolation is marching in.

Character Creation: Abilities:9/6/4 Abilities: 18/9/5 Backgrounds 9, Virtues: 10 Disciplines: 5 and 45 freebie points, I also prefer at least one Flaw and Merit. Characters should be between 60-125 years old, and have several reasons for staying in the city. Humanity must be 6 or higher and Generation is 10th.

Themes: Isolation, paranoia, and what price you're willing to pay for power and safety.

Requirements: I'd prefer players that can post twice a week. I'm using the second edition main V:tM book, The Vampire Players Guide and Ghouls: Fatal Addiction, but am willing to teach the system and help make characters for anyone that doesn't have the books or hasn't played the game before. I'm also a big fan of players choosing one thing they'd like to see, and one thing they don't, so that it becomes a more invested game for all of us.<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2012_10/57a8bfbf2e778_HouseRules.txt.604c1b88eebfc2c111470699ccee73d3.txt" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="23813" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2012_10/57a8bfbf2e778_HouseRules.txt.604c1b88eebfc2c111470699ccee73d3.txt" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

Ditto, I'm thinking I'll either go with a Tremere Armorer or a Gangrel animal master. Depends on what the other players go for.

Thinking about a Giovanni who's been in city under some mysterious directive for a while... if that is alright BcAugust?

Set to awaiting players, let me know when you feel that you have enough and we will move you to game creation.

Definitely. And Necromancy won't be a bad addition, though I am used to running it as it's own discipline instead of rituals.

And the Brujah with a brain definitely works, considering I was planning on giving the (former, currently dead) Brujah leader the university. Does that appeal?

Hey everybody, still up for game, just currently talking to a potential player before I say enough. And feel free to message me or AIM(I'm usually on AIM whenever I'm online) if you have any questions.

Definitely going with the Tremere. Thinking about it might have to play with point more to see what's appropriate.

Looking like I got enough to start, though of course if anyone else wants to play, it's still open. I'll go ahead and put the expanded backstory and npc list when the forum is up, though again I'd like it if players would PM me one thing they'd like to see and one thing they wouldn't.

I'm in. August knows the story.

Although, man, this would've been a hilarious opportunity to try and play a Baali.

Sorry for the pause, got told the wrong thing and am working to correct it, plus work has been insane. I think I have most people's characters basic ideas.

So, to give me a goal, which would you rather see by Sunday night, City history or the first batch of NPCs?

Hmm, I'm going to say NPCs since it'll allow me to think of how my character fits into the scene.

Sorry, had to deal with sick animals and sick family members, man, weekends go fast. So, a couple of NPCs to tide over.

  • Image: Think Russell Means

He is a distant ruler, more likely to grant minor territory and favors, then just watch as he moves around the town, his sheriff Nathan the one that deals with the day to day politeness and small troubles, the Chief just keeping an eye on the town and only stepping in when he feels it's called for. He's sired no childer in the past century, and is unwilling to speak if there's been any before that, and the right to sire is his rarest favor granted, usually calling for major favors for years before and after to pay for it(Most think the Nosferatu safe havens under the streets and the Tremere warding of the old Tuberculous hospital were such).

For the PCs: Everyone has met the Chief at least a couple of times, either shortly after they were sired or arrived in town, then again at their release or at the rare courts he holds. The last thirty years have seen ones about an aborted Sabbat Invasion, a human serial killer that was getting too close to drawing attention to the Kindred, and the execution of both childer and sire for not getting permission, the prince carrying it out personally. More often, the characters have seen red eyes watching or the distant howls of wolves and the flapping of owls studying the town below with far too much intelligence.

Game approved. Go ahead and have your game created in the Storyteller's area.

Ops, well free bump

turns out i should read the full post before posting

NVM and feel free to ignore this :)

Yep, it's still going, I'm setting up the forum right now. (Work decided to ambush me with a 50/seven day hour work week this week) And hey, if you want to play, I'd love to have you, just shoot me a concept.

I never had a chance to play Vampire, even though I wanted it so badly, so my question is, can you accept a late arrival?

I have read most of the setting info and house rules, I'm thinking of some character concepts and if lucky, I'll have my concept and sheet ready by tomorrow the earliest. I'm just wondering if there's anything of importance that I need to know regarding the setting other than what you've already posted.

Btw, I think I'm gonna go with an a adolescent-looking Malkavian prophet inspired by FreakAngels'Arkady character.

An interesting choice. Just to note, I am mainly using the main books, anything else has to be approved. (Which still has a lot of possibilities.)

Duly noted, I don't think I'll need any other books to flesh out the character I want, but if I come up with any questions or doubts I'll let you know.
