FULL NAME

Rohir Kaahanii al’Keita

GENDER

Male

ORIENTATION

Bisexual, Female leaning

AGE

27

PERSONALITY

Rohir is a calm, collected, and competent sort. Rarely one to raise his voice, he chooses instead to speak in a conversational tone and let the gravity of his voice do the rest. He will not lie outright, but weave half-truths and hyperbole into his conversations and dealings. At times, Rohir can be quite blunt and brusque when his patience has reached an end, but it is when his easy smile fades that one should be concerned.

Raised in the saddle with saber and bow, Rohir bears the casual poise and confidence of a cougar with the supple sinew to match. He is not one to spring to violence, but can do so with the clean and clinical swiftness of a hunter.

But no matter how much he would rather be out riding the steppes and plains on horseback, Rohir beholden to tutors on statecraft. An even diplomatic and economic hand is required to sow peace between the disparate cultures of Morava, requiring a keen ear and mastery of a dozen languages and nuances. Of all his studies, it was the study of his nation’s cultural tapestry that he loved the most. He is always hungry to learn new customs, languages, and skills to bring back to his people.

Good as he is with people, Rohir can be awkward at times around them. He will mix idioms or slip into a different tongue without thinking when flustered. His easy-blushing demeanor makes this even worse, but he makes due with a dazzling smile when words fail. To this end, he enjoys working with animals, especially with his horses and his hawk.

HISTORY

Though Rohir was born in the comfort of royalty, he was raised on the core ethics of his nation’s identity: carry your weight to lift your people higher. It was an easy and beautiful thing to believe in while resting in the velvet lap of luxury, but Rohir took it to heart from the start. As a child, Rohir loved to learn. He was studious, attentive, and obedient; the picture of a prince with his bright and dimpled smile from horseback. He consumed texts on culture, language, and literature with a voracious appetite, ever-eager to know more about the world in all its intricacies.

When he turned the age of twelve, Rohir went through the traditional rite of passage of his people, despite his father’s protests. His mother, born and bred of the land, remained adamant. Sent into the wilds with horn bow and spear, Rohir was bid to not return until he claimed a bounty of the land to prove his worth. For two weeks, Rohir was gone from the palace, and on the third day of the third week, he returned with the pelt and claws of a steppe-cougar, whose claws and teeth he wears to this day.

With his rite of passage made, Rohir was permitted to sit in on council and learn the greater intricacies of statecraft. He was even offered a chance to travel with trade caravans to the boundaries of the kingdom and beyond. It was a pilgrimage that few noble scions made, but Rohir made the journey on horseback, where he spilled blood in combat for the first time at the age of sixteen, when he put an arrow through the eye of a brigand.

Though he is easily identified as a high-born by his clothes, the silks and velvets are rough with exposure to the elements, and Rohir’s shovel-sized hands are thick with callouses from time in the saddle and in the bazaar learning a craft.

It all came back to the creed that his mother raised him on, “Just as iron sharpens iron, the mind sharpens the body. Tend both, and neither shall grow dull.” While Rohir’s father was a beloved leader, it was his mother who raised, reared, and tutored him through his formative years, making her recent death devastating. It rocked Rohir to his core in a way that he has yet to recover or reconcile.

OTHER

He has a dabbled black stallion named Altai, a Moravan warhorse of impeccable breeding. A fearsome, intelligent, and temperamental beast, he is often a better judge of character than Rohir is. He knows this, and will not trust someone if Altai bites or rears at them.

He also has a hawk named Faelye that he has trained since she was a hatchling. Now a fully grown raptor with a seven-foot wingspan, Faelye has claimed many an eye and finger from the careless brigand.

Her Highness, Nannari Yenlaren, Princess of Ceberon
ba6319215cbc4d330f5a2daee17f0882.jpg

Gender: Female
Orientation: Bisexual
Age: 22

Personality: Before her father died and her brother went mad, Nannari was a charming, energetic, ambitious young woman. She had a personable charm perfect for putting people at ease, be they dates, new friends, or business associates. However, that brightly shining personality has dimmed somewhat over the years, as loss, betrayal, and harsh duty took their toll on her. Though she retains her keen social and political skills, she now practices them in a much more subdued manner. She projects the image of a disciplined soldier rather than a princess, and seldom displays her emotions openly. Gone is her ambitious drive: now heir presumptive, the legacy of her predecessors casts a colossal shadow, leaving Nannari to wonder how she'll ever be capable of ruling a continent-spanning empire. Though she is well-educated even by the standards of the aristocracy, it can be difficult for her to see her talents when faced with the fully-realized epitome of what she'll be expected to become in 10 or 20 years.

Though she is no longer the fiercely impressive young woman she used to be, her calm but intense force of personality quietly but unquestionably commands respect.

History: Princess Nannari Yenlaren is the third child of the Master King Valerio of Cerebon, born more than a decade after her elder siblings Prince Ruada and Princess Rohanna. Although Ruada was heir and she was third in the line of succession, Nannari was raised knowing that, should something happen to either of her siblings, she would stand to inherit. So naturally, she was trained accordingly, in economics, history, rhetoric, languages, and other matters of culture and statecraft. And despite her rowdy personality as a child, she took to her lessons with surprising amounts of enthusiasm. It became obvious from the very beginning of her education that while she lacked the subtlety for true politicking, she had a keen mind for business dealings and martial tactics.

Because Nannari was so much younger than her brother and sister, she found little common with them, but they got on well enough. Ruada was often busy with royal duties or his studies, but he did his best to be a good brother to 'Nari, who was always looking to play with and emulate the older boy. But usually, while the older siblings were busy with more scholarly pursuits, Nannari spent her youth on the practice fields, having at the quintain, dueling with sparring sword and dagger and other sorts of physical exercise. It was at this young age, influenced by mighty stories of glorious and honorable knights that Nannari still maintained a desire to be prestigious, chivalrous and noble herself.

She was a young woman, only eighteen years old, when King Valerio passed away from illness. It wasn't the first time he had been sick, so everyone at court knew in a way that it was coming, but Nannari was still struck hard by the loss of her father. The two had been genuinely close, and Nannari missed him dearly. She couldn't afford to show that in public, for the sake of keeping the Yenlaren image strong, but she felt it all the same. In the ensuing days, she would follow tradition to the letter, as expected, allowing herself to spend some time with the closest members of the royal household. During the funeral itself, she kept herself dignified and detached. Sorrow, after all, was unwarranted, because the passing of one opened the way for another Master King- her brother Ruada. If up to that point Nannari was indifferent to politics, she embraced it wholeheartedly afterwards. The time had come to supply her brother with as much help as she could give.

It was around this time that Ruada was wed to Yseldi Sarian. Ruada and Yseldi had married for love rather than politics, and Nari swore she was the only woman who could make her brother smile even as the king became more absorbed by his duties. Ruada doted on his wife, and Nannari was ecstatic to find a friend in her at court. When she heard news that Yseldi had died giving birth to a stillborn son, it left a profound hollowness in her.

With Yseldi died the last of the Master King's joy. Ruada coped by pouring himself into his work, withdrawing from the rest of his family completely. He barely spoke a word to Nannari in the months following the funeral. His working relationships with his ministers broke down as the king grew more and more volatile. Nannari was surprised he hadn't come to blows with any of them. She wouldn't put it past her brother to do something so impulsive.

Little did she know that Ruada would do something far far worse. He attacked and killed a courtier in plain sight on the suspicion of plotting his assassination.

Nannari couldn't believe it. Even Ruada, she had thought, wouldn't do such a thing. An emergency meeting was called from among the king's advisors, in which Nari was present but couldn't bring herself to say a word. Even when King Ruada was deemed unfit to rule and Rohanna declared his regent.

It was then decided that, upon King Ruada's death and the end of his sister's regency, Nannari Yenlaren would be named heir presumptive in the absence of an heir from Ruada's line. All she could do was assure the ministers that she would fulfill her duties to the best of her abilities.

She wasn't sure what led him to keep a watchful eye on her brother - other than the fact that she knew the man to be a murderous lunatic - but her vigilance saved another man's life that night, when Ruada tried to murder him in his sleep. Nari's frustration, anger, and grief at her brother's uncontrollable murderous rampages came to a head, and the two exchanged some extremely heated words before parting. The king was kept isolated from the rest of the palace from that point on, and she hasn't spoken to him since.

At court, old grudges are simmering to a boil. Nannari and her sister maintain a working, if cold relationship, though she knows her sister bristles at being struck from the line of succession. Violent crime is on the rise in Ceberon, as the ongoing royal crisis has caused a lapse in security. With tensions growing between each of the five kingdoms, she wonders not about how well she'll rule her empire, but rather if there will be an empire to rule at all.
