A nuclear war that DOESN'T involve China or Russia? What, did the US decided to nuke France?

A nuclear war doesn't really have "winners"... I'm just saying, there's only a select number of countries that could bring global destruction through the use of Nuclear arms, 3 to be exact, and you just knocked out two of them :P . Doesn't mean the RP can't be cool though.

do you think a few years from now other countries won't have nuclear armories? surely not, since every one is going full territorial now

Not to go nuclear, that's what the Non-proliferation Treaty is for after all. And even then, most countries have been focusing on shrinking the size of their arsenals, not increasing them. Take the US for example. We've come down from our peak of having 30,000 warheads to around 5,000 as recently as 2010. Even then, that 2010 number is misleading as about 2/3 of the warheads are in stockpile, that is to say, we'd have to pull them out of storage and get them to the point they could be used.

And rogue states can only go so far with their nuclear "armories". Take North Korea for example. They've had access to Nuclear Weapons for about ten years and what have they managed? At best, 30 warheads of varying yields less than the bombs the US dropped on Japan. Also, the only American city actually able to be hit at this point is Seattle? (And Alaska... if anyone cares, sorry Alaska :( ). Of course the new threat today is Iran, but even if Iran was to go Nuclear, considering the pace at North Korea went, it's still going to be many years before they can threaten anyone outside of the Middle East. Speaking of North Korea, there were a lot of fears going around that the region would go nuclear if they did (the idea that you need a nuclear deterrent and all). Despite this fact though, neither South Korea or Japan has pursued nuclear arms (despite rumblings).

Now this doesn't mean it's impossible to have a nuclear exchange that didn't involve China or Russia, you just have to reshape the political landscape. Say, if the US flipped into a 1984 style dystopian tyranny, and became aggressive with the Eurozone, (Keep in mind that France and the UK combined have around 500 warheads) then you could have a nuclear war that, again in theory, doesn't provoke a response from either Russia or China. It's a stretch, but it's possible.
