Before I share the storyline that I had in mind, I would like to share some data about myself.
I was inspired by a real-life event, and I thought I’d submit this storyline idea.
Moving to a new town can be a tragedy for any teenager set in their ways. Such as it was with Josh Nakayama. He had lived in Houston for all his nearly 18 years until his mom got a new job and the family moved to the small town of Sutter which as a population of roughly 4300.
Josh has various interests. He was a running back for his high school's football team and laments that the season progressed far enough where Sutter's team has been established; the team is doing well enough to not need his services. He loves to draw; the quality of his drawings has been highly rated. He enjoys cooking/baking/eating; his culinary interests have earned him the nickname Jaws. He loves movies; he likes science fiction and fantasy mostly. He is also fond of classic monster movies. He enjoys movie soundtracks and music from the 80s the most. His favorite subjects are the sciences; he likes Astronomy the most.
Despite Josh being attractive and popular, he has never been in a relationship. He gave various reasons why he had no interest being in one. Schoolwork, overprotective parents, his game and workout schedule, and so on. The true reason was that he is gay and closeted. Only his parents and his best buddy back home know. He yearns to share his heart with another young man. Maybe, one day, he will go public. This is my characters.
Your character is Josh's new neighbor. You live next door to him, but you don't know it yet. As a result of various circumstances, you never saw the moving van or the family arrive. All you know is that one day the For Sale sign was gone and sometime thereafter, you saw three vehicles. The previously long vacant is now occupied. It is October 1st, a Monday, and school has started for the day. The principal has called you into his office. What have you done to deserve such a summons? As your heart thumps in trepidation, you enter the administration office. After waiting for a minute or two, you are told that the principal is ready for you. You open the door and find the unexpected.
Inside, you find the principal is not alone. He is radiating with optimism as you are asked to take a seat. Occupying the chair next to you is a young man whom the principal introduces as a new student. This new classmate named Josh is also a Senior and has the same schedule as you. As a result, you have been chosen to be his guide for the day. It is only at the end of the day, when you get home, that you find out that your new classmate is also your new neighbor. You see a familiar red truck pull up into the driveway of the formerly vacant house. Is it him? A young man gets out. It is him. It is Josh.
I envision this storyline beginning as a slice of life as the two slowly become friends and maybe more. What type of character do you have? Although your character can be another jock who participates in the sport of your choice or your character can be a geek of any interest, I have these suggestions.
A football player, preferably the quarterback
A wrestler looking forward to the upcoming season
A young man who enjoys writing sci-fi and/or fantasy stories
A young man who enjoys movies, but especially sci-fi and/or fantasy and/or monster flicks
Regardless of his social status, he is probably also in the closet and waiting for the right guy to come along to come out.
I’ve done worldbuilding with Josh and the town of Sutter. Note that there’s an anachronism regarding him. Although the storyline is set in modern times with cell phones, today’s tech, social media, etc, his family background is consistent with the timeframe when I was a Senior in high school in the late 90s. For example, both of his grandfathers served in World War 2.
If interested, please send a PM so we can discuss it further. Thank you for your consideration.

Character sheet: First, I like to keep character sheets simple. I look for name, age, gender, orientation and physical description. Everything else is optional including face claims.
Post platform: I prefer roleplaying in the forum. PM is for discussing the storyline and brainstorming which I enjoy doing with coauthors.
Point of view: Third person Past Tense
Post length: I have been known to write long posts and short posts, but more on the long side. I believe that post length should as long as it needs to be. That being said, I ask for at least a paragraph. Two is better.
Post frequency: I can post at least twice a week.
Grammar/Spelling: I am not asking for A+ writing, but I want to be able to understand. If you are concerned, I am open to sharing writing samples.
Ghosting: If you need to exit the storyline, just let me know. I get concerned if a week passes with no post or notice regarding a delay.
