For thousands upon thousands of years, a length beyond mortal comprehension, creatures of legend enjoyed solitude in their own realms. Eventually, each came to know the other. The fairies preferred their solitude, but the angels often spoke of another world. It was a realm dubbed Morsorium after the death that nipped at the heels of the inhabitants. Plagues, war, and even existing for too long were the many causes of death to these "humans." As time went on, the creatures of legend began to populate Morsorium, or Earth as humans called it. It became the mixing pot of all creatures, even lending to the rise of new species: vampires, witches, and werewolves. The former ruled the humans' realm, aided by their progenitors and gods, known as the Brothers. Of course, no one had ever seen these supposed protectors, and the angels knew every god to speak of. A fear of these beings of the unknown allowed the vampires to silently rule from the shadows, the humans entirely unawares, unchallenged for millennia. But the fairies, greedy and always eager to expand their power, came to envy the the vampires. Morsorium was a unique world, imbued with every magic in existence and connected to it in a way no other place was. The fairies wanted earth. War broke out between the vampires and fairies. The vampires poured into the fairies' realm before the fairies could reach the gate that bridged their worlds, leading to a slaughter on both sides. Yet warriors kept pouring in and there was no end in sight for either side. Until all the vampires fled the battlefield. The fairies were baffled, and planned to launch their invasion when three beings of immense size burst from the ground. No fairy in the area was left alive, and the battlefield was left scorched, riddled with spikes of earth and ice. From this day on, the fairies would never forgive the vampires. The vampires would never dare be challenged again. The relations between all the powerful species was left forever changed, and earth remains a highly coveted prize, inhabited by creatures entirely dumb to their situation.
In Norway there stands a school known as Hawthorn Academy. It's the kind of school that opens doors for those who attend- literally. It's quirky and weird and secluded, but it's all worth it in the end. At least that how humans view it.
Here, right on the gorgeous lustrafjorden, people from all over the world and more gather to learn. Be them furless and pale, pointy toothed with a hunger for blood, or the servants of long forgotten gods, all are welcomed at Hawthorn. The Academy acts as a university, offer degrees in many things. On top of it all, one can take Mermish 101, and finally understand all those crusty books in the library that whisper of something great. Or enjoy a stroll in the school's very own underground forest, Atalanta's Paradise, as a part of Flora and Fauna of . They might even catch a glimpse of a kelpie.
Oh, and it's best not to stick your nose into things that you don't understand.
Hello, hello!! This is a modern fantasy rp, inspired by the webseries Carmilla, but has its own world. If this gets enough interest, a lore page will be put up describing everything in more detail.
The RP will focus on Hawthorn Academy, and the tension between the fairies and vampires. Humans attend the school and the existence of supernatural creatures is not known. As a result most humans ignore the weird things that occur at the school. Because it's more likely someone had too much fun at a party and fell into the fjord than someone was killed by a hungry vampire. So that can lead to some fun stuff with humans figuring out what's going on. Eventually, the world will expand as characters must confront bigger demons (both literal and not) and perhaps discover things about their world that have long since been forgotten by all.
Think of this like your average, everyday supernatural school, but with some twists.
The main creatures available to rp would be:
Humans: the inhabitants of Morsorium, can't see supernatural creatures until they have been exposed to them, really normal and mundane.
Vampires: mostly born, occasionally turned. Elitist and haughty, they require human or humanoid blood to survive. They come in three sects (shapeshifters, manipulators, shadow-walkers), each ruled by a different Brother (their gods). They absolutely despise the fairies, and also maintain a smaller rivalry with the werewolves.
Werewolves: have two forms, one more human and so can appear ape-like, and a massive dog (only on the full moon). The most modern supernatural species, so they don't have a defined culture. Werewolves are mostly created, though they can be born. Arguably the most chill of the species.
Angels: a general term used to refer to the creatures that acts as servants of gods. They can serve any god, from any culture, time, or pantheon. Although their true form tends to be disturbing or monstrous, they can shift to appear more human. Their powers are bestowed by their gods, so it is technically limitless. Uncommon for them to remain in one place for long. Tend to have hero or god complexes.
Fairies: humanoids that can come in many shapes and sizes. They are currently ruled by the unseelie court, and so tend to be very malicious. It's wise never to trust a fairy. They can shift to appear more human, although they are always unnaturally beautiful and seem to almost glow. They tend to think of humans as mere trinkets to be toyed with, and have little care of life outside of their own. They absolutely hate vampires, and are plotting to kill their gods.
Witches: a term to refer to any male, female, or otherwise that is half human and half supernatural. They do not have any singular culture or ruling force, though many form covens. The only species able to use any form of magic.

The main creatures available to rp would be:
Demons: angles who have been cast out of their service. Their forms become "corrupted" and they lack the same level of power. Are not necessarily good or bad.
