Hasegawa Academy is a culinary high school, so characters should be around 14-18.

You're allowed to make as many characters as you can handle. However I don't expect your characters to all be master chefs, especially if they are extremely young and it's their first year at the school.

Please respect your fellow roleplayers, anyone who is being rude or bullying another roleplayer will be removed from the roleplay.

Please don't purposely exclude someone, I want this roleplay to be a safe place where we can all have fun.

No god modding or extremely over powered characters.

Only realistic pictures please

I know people don't always have inspiration and it can be difficult to write sometimes but I expect at least 1 paragraph per post.

I know people have lives outside of this roleplay so it's okay if you can't post everyday, but I expect you to at least post twice a week. If for any reason you'll be inactive for a long time please tell me. If you have gone 2 week without posting and haven't contacted me I'll have to remove your character from the roleplay or give your character up for adoption.

She thinks that having long hair interferes with cooking so she chopped her black hair into a chin length bob so she doesn’t have the hassle of trying to tie it up. Her blue eyes, are normally hidden by thick glasses. She’s also acquired extraordinarily pale skin from the time she spent inside, the summer before attending school. Background:
If anyone in her school was going to be into cooking, nobody would have guessed it would be her. She was always known as the peppy popular girl who almost everyone had a crush on. No one knew that she had been cooking since she was 5, when she would mold rice with her hands for her grandpa. He’d taught her everything she knew about Japanese Cuisine, which didn’t leave her much knowledge about any other type of cooking. That didn’t matter to her, and she kept practicing, and practicing till she got better at cooking than her grandfather. When she mentioned wanting to do it forever her grandfather told her about Hasegawa. When he was young he’d tried to go there, but he was unable to keep up with everybody, and dropped out. Convinced she would have a better fate he persuaded her to apply.
Personality:
She was one of the nicest kids in her school, causing her to be beloved by most of the student body. What no one knew was that she was incredibly book dumb, and cooking was the only thing she excelled at. She passed Jr High at the bottom of the class. She’s selfless when it comes to her family, and loved ones. Unless she has to risk cooking then she’ll screw everyone she loves over. Though generally friendly she gets into a mood when she’s cooking or can’t figure something out.

FC:
Haruto.Nasu.full.1171026.jpg

Specialty:
Elevated Comfort Food

On a scale from 1 to 10 how good is their cooking skills:
9

Weaknesses:
- His style of cuisine is not meant to be complicated. It is simple food that warms your heart and makes you feel at home, so complexity is not his style.
- Many high end ingredients are difficult for him. He is a master of ingredients people grew up with and anybody has access to. He is not particularly good at very fine dining cuisine.
- French Cuisine, specifically high end french, is completely beyond him.

Strengths:
- Easy to access, everyday ingredients such as produce, pork or beef.
- Master baker.
- Seasoning and Spices expert.

Background:
Jay was born in the Midwest of the United States. From a young age he was exposed to fresh foods, farm to table cooking, cooking from scratch and the comfort food concept. He had watched his mom cook in the kitchen for years, but was only 10 when he finally got to cook himself. A full decade of watching his mother work gave him a good idea of how seasonings and flavors were so important. It was clear to him that classic flavors were classic for a reasonand that most things in the food world were built upon these classic pairings. He also realized that even the highest of fine dining started from simple comfort foods. It all staryed from a home and a meal with the ones you loved.

As time went on he devoted himself to mastering this idea. In middle school he signed up for an optional cooking course and furthered his knowledge of comfort food. He ran into a problem. Everybody, every place and every culture had their own version of comfort food. So, if he wanted to truly master this form of cooking, he had to know it all. Each cooking technique, every favored flavor and spices for each culture and cuisine. He was fevered in his efforts to learn all of these tactics and tastes. This was his road. The road to the peak of comforting flavors.

James moved himself to the distric of Hasegawa Academy. He had heard they were the best around. Jay wanted to show that even simple, timeless flavors and recipes had a place in the upper reaches of the culinary world.

When he got to the academy, he immediately began his work to rise up to the top. He studied hard, entered competitions and gained his reputation. Eventually he had the opportunity to challenge a member of the Ten.

In the food war for the seat on the council, they were given an ingredient and five judges. After a long cooking time the member of the council served a well made plate, but a plate slightly off in conception. This was the day James solidified his reputation in the academy. Jay served the judges 5 different dishes. Each simple in creation, but executed perfectly. On top of thar, each one was made specifically to be comfort food for a specific judge. Figuring out where they came from he took one ingredient and made 5 plates, each with the flavors and cooking styles that one judge grew up with. It was a complete victory. 5 to 0, James ws now the newest and most infamous member of the Ten.

Personality:
Jay is a calm and focused guy. Many would say too calm. No one knows how he does it, but he takes his comfort cooking to a whole new level and almost personify's the idea of a relaxing meal. When he is not cooking you can always find him napping, finding a place to nap or just generally being lazy. He has a fantastic work ethic and can memorize just about anything, but it never fails. As soon as he is done being serious, he goes back to being lazy.

Outside his generally lazy style, he is sweet and almost lives in his own world. If people try to wake him up he will actually off them a spot next to him to nap. This is how he met his girlfriend. His dream is to bring people home through food. To take people back to a world where they are truly comfortable. So in his mind, sleeping is the second best option.

What are they known for:
His ability to use food to take you home for just a moment. It is said that he has mastered the art of a mothers homecooked meal. His mastery over this cooking got him to the 3rd Seat of the Ten.

Aspirations:
To one day open a restaurant that can give those who do not know what it means to have a nostalgic meal the opportunity.

Fears:
His family becoming very sick or dying

Relationships:
Has a girlfriend. Alison Parker.
Wonderstruck Wonderstruck

Specialty: Baking (Cakes and pastries)

On a scale from 1 to 10 how good are their cooking skills: 8

Weaknesses:
  • Flavoring and style of French cuisine
  • Portioning and texture of dishes meant for Fine Dining
  • Pairing intense spices
Strengths:
  • Decorating (Cakes/ cupcakes and sugar cookies, as well as plates. He may not be great at creating fine dining dishes, but he definitely knows how to make a plate of food look good)
  • Recreating popular American (West Coast/ Californian) Cuisine
  • Preparing varieties of Seafood dishes
Background:
Oliver grew up in North America, on the West Coast of the United States. His parents owned a small American-Japanese fusion restaurant in Los Angeles, California. His parents had a rocky relationship and ended up getting a divorce when he was 8 years old. After that, his mother sold the restaurant and opened her own bakery, a longtime dream of hers. Oliver grew up in the kitchen, being his mother’s assistant and learning all of her food and baking recipes.

By 11, his mom remarried to an African American man who owned his own seafood restaurant, and would quite frequently, invite Oliver into the kitchen to train in making most of the dishes on the menu.

He saw how happy his new step-father and the restaurant and bakery made his mom, and could only imagine how much happier she’d be if he also followed in their footsteps. So, the young perfectionist began to practice every weekend during the school seasons and nearly everyday during the summers until he perfected the entire menu and his mom’s dishes and bakes.
Oliver became well known in his community and to his family back in Japan (His mom would constantly brag about his progress and achievements). His grandmother insisted that he came to visit and cook for her and the family so they could have a taste of California. Upon his visit, he happened to come across a pamphlet for Hasegawa Academy and instantly became intrigued. He was constantly looking for ways to improve and challenges to take, so going to a culinary high school was a great way to broaden his knowledge and experience, hoping to one day take over his step-dad’s restaurant, or his mom's bakery, then open his own.

Upon entering Hasegawa, Oliver was eager to learn and build on his skills. His first year, he was extremely observant of the classes and the social hierarchy of the school. Being so self-kept, he didn’t attempt to make any friends and was all about business. His second year at Hasegawa was only slightly different.
During his second year, after seeing how things worked, he began to challenge his classmates and seniors to Hasegawa’s famous food wars. He started off by challenging and winning bake wars against his classmates of the same year, then moved on to winning a few cooking wars against the same pool. Towards the end of his Sophomore year, he started to challenge his upperclassmen to bake wars, his specialty. One of his opponents was the Junior who held the seventh seat on the Council of Ten. It was a close decision, but he won with his rich, German Chocolate, two-layer cake with milk chocolate frosting and intricate piping.

Personality:
Even though he is one the Council of Ten, Oliver is not a very outgoing or sociable person. He typically keeps to himself and doesn’t really seek conversation.
He is very critical of his own work and is always hunting down ways to improve, which is a never ending story for a perfectionist. Even on their rest days, Oliver could be found working hard at improving a dish or piping design. However, being a perfectionist is also a plus. It allows him to be very observant and pay close attention to detail when it comes to taste and presentation.

What are they known for: Oliver is known for gaining a seat on the Council as well as his intricate cake and sugar cookie designs. His piping skills are very advanced for a high school student.

Aspirations: Oliver hopes to take over his step-father’s restaurant or his mother’s bakery, then to open his own. However, he’s split between the two and isn’t sure down which road his time at Hasegawa will lead him.

Fears:
  • Failing in general (failing classes and failing as a chef/ pastry chef)
  • Getting lost in Japan (He’s been there for about three years, but sticks to the area around school and his grandparents house, so he hasn’t ventured out much)
  • Losing his seat on the Council

Nickname: Ali, only loved ones call her Ali Cat.

Age: (14-18) 16

Date of Birth: September 7th

Gender: Female

Pronouns: She/Her

Sexuality: Straight

Year: Sophomore

Council Member: Is not on the council

Transfer: Not a transfer.

Race and Ethnicity: Caucasian and American

Appearance: Ali stands a whole whopping 5 feet tall, coming in at 139.2 LBS. So she is.... fun sized. Her naturally curly, light brown hair that falls to her mid waist when curly, to her hips when straight or wet. Her eyes are a mix of green and blue, when in the light they are more green but when in a darker atmosphere they are more blue. She has a few freckles across the bridge oh her nose. She likes to wear colorful outfits, so often times she will stand out in a crowd. If she wears jeans, she usually has a fun print blouse, dresses are almost always in multicolors like the rainbow. She rarely wears black or white, finding them boring, but she does look cute in them. She never wares heels, she is too clumsy for that.

FC:

Specialty: Baking- Bread specifically and Candy work

On a scale from 1 to 10 how good is their cooking skills: 8 for baked goods, 6 for all others

Weaknesses:
  • No matter how hard she tries she is never able to make chicken correctly, it is either raw, burnt or a burnt on the outside but raw on the inside. (Don't ask)
  • Fish is something she always tends to overcook.
  • Japanese cuisine in general tends to be very difficult for her

Strengths:
  • Plating and styling are her specialty, she makes artful dishes and everything she puts out is photo worthy
  • Chocolate work- tempered chocolate has never been a problem for her and she can sculpt with chocolate as well
  • The breads she makes are far from standard loafs and rolls, she plays with different flavors and spices, and shapes as well. Have you ever seen a bread shaped like a bouquet with each flower being a different type of bread? Ali can tell you all about her bread bouquet.

Background: Ali was born into a middle class family, her father being a science professor and her mother running a daycare out of their home. She is the youngest of three siblings, her brother Matthew is the oldest at 21 and her sister Lizzie is 19. When Ali was 4 she started to spend a lot of time with her grandma before she passed away. Her grandma was a pastry chef and owned her own little bakery near her house. Ali would spend hours a day working with her in the bakery, rolling dough, cutting out cookies, preparing batter and sometimes she'd get to decorate the cookies and cakes. Before she passed away when Ali was 12, Ali ended up taking over much of her grandmother's tasks of decorating and she fell in love. She would spend hours on wedding cakes, paying close attention to the piping and making buttercream roses, and fondant decorations. It was during these creative seasons that she discovered candy work and would add sugar glass, chocolate sculptures, and pulled taffy to her designs. After her grandmother passed away the only thing that she could escape into was baking, she buried herself in batter and dough for the remaining years before the bakery eventually was shut down after being bought out by a malicious man who lied about his care for the bakery. He demolished it a week after purchasing it and Ali's heart was destroyed with it.

It was after the bakery was destroyed that her brother and sister really started getting more involved with her confections and baking and started posting her works on social media. Ali would get custom order request for special occasions and gifts. This went on for several years and was how she had been invited to Hasegawa Academy. Ali had heard of this school but never imagined she would be invited to attend. After the invitation she started looking up every graduate from the past few years and tried to learn everything about them. It was only the ones who were truly incredible that were able to graduate and the idea hungered her. To be recognized around the world for her creations and true art, she wants nothing less.

When she started at Hasegawa last year reality hit her hard. There was a lot of work that needed to go into her classes everyday, she couldn't skate by on just her baking and candy work. She struggles with non confection items and she has to work harder than most of her classmates to pass some of the more savory classes. She won't give up though! Ali has a lot of friends at the school, while she is not on the council and doesn't aspire to be, she is well known around the school. She is known for her hard work and determination, and she floats in multiple social circles. Ali isn't afraid of a challenge, she doesn't back down.

Personality:
Ali has always been a very outgoing girl, she always tries to make everyone feel included and important. Her care for others makes her a very likeable individual and she has very few if any enemies. Because she is such a caring person, she tends to get over emotional sometimes when her feeling or her friend's feelings get hurt. While she can hold a conversation with anyone and is considered a social butterfly by many, she really does enjoy her quiet time. When she is deeply invested or "in the zone" she is very quiet and in her own world, impervious to the people around her. Ali is a daredevil, she isn't fearful of trying new things, food related or otherwise. She will try anything once. Because of this she can be a little reckless at times and dig herself into holes that may be too hard for her to get out of sometimes.

What are they known for: Ali is known for her incredible bread work. She strives to make each loaf an art with different shapes, colors and flavors. She has made quite the reputation and gets called bread girl by some of the classmates that don't know her well.

Aspirations: To open her own bakery with many of her grandmother's recipes as base recipes, with her own flare added on.

Fears: That this whole experience will be wasted. That at the end of the day she wont amount to anything more than just a past student at Hasegawa.

Relationships: James Evers

Hello! I'd love to join and I'm working on my CS right now, but I have a question LOL.

Anime has crazy colors when it comes to hair and eyes, but I noticed the prefix here is realistic/modern. The other CSs also seemed like they kept the colors realistically possible as well. My OC has mint hair and grey eyes pshhh, so I was wondering if you allow these colors since this is an anime setting or if only realistic colors are allowed? I'm down to change my OC's colors if need be ^^

Full Name:
Chisato Amai

Nickname:
She's thinks nicknames are childish, but her parents liked to call her "Chii-chan" despite this.

Age:
15

Date of Birth:
July 3rd.

Gender:
Female.

Pronouns:
She/Her

Sexuality:
Straight

Year:
Sophomore

Council Member:

N/A

Transfer:
Yes.

Race and Ethnicity:
Asian/Japanese.

Appearance:
With a stature of 5'2 feet/157cm, this girl radiates nothing less than the aura of a snob from looks alone, always looking like she had been invited to a tea party. From her various frilly dresses made from high-quality designers down to even simpler outfits like a dress-jumper and a blouse with puffy sleeves, yet even these would be priceless for lower class people. Regardless, Chisato does enjoy to wear any hue of brown in her outfits and, unintentionally, giving her appearance resemble mint chocolate. Her hair is quite unique as well and Chisato always makes sure that this is brushed and neat every morning before going out, as she believes good image is important. Her hair consists of a length right above her shoulders and her natural waves adorning the lower parts with her straight bangs being tilted from the upper left and down across her forehead. She also carries a low-hanging antenna that, no matter how many times she flattens this, is never able to fully integrate into her other strands, so leaves it like it is. Yet, even though Chisato acts way more mature than her age, she can't help but doll herself up with childish accessories like a couple of hair clippings on her bangs, or making a low side ponytail with a flower accessory.

If her hair or snobbish aura wasn't the first thing someone noticed about her, next it would be her colorless irises and her eyes being a straight-on gray which contrasts her bright, minty hair and red accessories on her. Her gaze constantly has a focused, serious expression on it and, if angry enough, these gray eyes would cut anything it was on her sight if it could. Her skin is fair and soft to the touch and this especially applies to her hands, which is surprising considering she works with an oven most of the time, but this is thanks to Chisato being extremely careful with her craft.

Even with her try-hard attitude and formal wear, the mint haired always carries a hint of childishness on her whether if it's from her "tea party" dresses, her height, her accessories or a combination of all of them, but Chisato always tries to maintain a high-class image on regardless of the situation.

FC:
ChisatoFC2.png
ChisatoSheet.png

Specialty:

Gourmet food.

On a scale from 1 to 10 how good is their cooking skills
7.5.
4 if seafood is involved.

Weaknesses:
  • Chisato, being the perfectionist she is, follows all and any recipes by the book and doesn't try to add her own magic on things in fear of making things different from what they're supposed to be. Because of this, it'd be difficult to differentiate her food from others from taste alone.
  • Her cooking takes more time than others since Chisato checks measurements, quality of her ingredients, cutting skills and temperature several times through the session.
  • Seafood is, by far, her worst enemy when it comes to cooking, which is ironic considering she's from Asia. Chisato always ends up either not cooking them well enough, or overcooking them way too much. She has yet to perfect the temperature and technique to cook and season fish.
  • Chisato struggles with making simple dishes or comfort food the most since she is so used to everything that makes gourmet food different from it. From the small sizing to the expensive looking appearance, making something like grilled sandwich would take Chisato back.
  • Coming up with a dish on her own and on the spot would be beyond her, and Chisato would have to spend a good amount of time brainstorming rather than just creating.
Strengths:
  • Presentation is key, so Chisato has mastered the way of placing of food and decorating of plates with sauces and garnish as well to the point of taking in consideration color palettes. Her dishes always have an elegant and exquisite look to them.
  • As a perfectionist, the girl takes in consideration everything around her food from the smell down to the smallest things like chopping ingredients. With following recipes down to the core, from a skill point of view, Chisato's dishes are almost perfect.
  • While she sucks at fish, chicken and, especially, beef are the ingredients she tends to be spot on the most. Beef Wellington and Lamb chops are her favorite dishes to make.
  • Even though she struggles going from Fine dining to comfort food, Chisato is able to transform even the simplest of foods into a gourmet-level dish with presentation and high-quality ingredients.
  • Chisato has dozens of recipes memorized word for word in her mind and is able to learn a new recipe in a mere few hours to perfection.

Background:

Born into a very wealthy family, Chisato had always been spoiled with toys and affection from her parents as she was a single child. While the girl had been blessed with a good lifestyle, with the years coming her parents had gotten more and more busy as their workload from the company they owned kept stacking up. Eventually, the mint haired girl was spending more time with her butler and maids than her parents, yet she didn't mind much in the beginning. With an elegant and high-class living conditions, Chisato adapted to her image since little and had developed into quite the diligent little girl with refining and formal manners. Being home schooled for most of her life, the japanese girl always did her work the day it was assigned and even sometimes pushed to be given more work to do, which was weird since it came from a young kid, but Chisato spent most of her free time reading and studying more than going outside. By the age of 10, she had become bilingual in Japanese and English thanks to her studying and homeschooling.

Eventually, being alone with her maids started to bore her. Having read most of her books already and played all the possible games she could think of, it was obvious that Chisato was starting to become slightly depressed. Soon, one of her maids had brought the sulking girl a new book that she had never laid her eyes upon. It was a cooking book. Her maid soon explained that having a hobby wouldn't be a bad idea and that, in fact, she would be beside her on cooking whatever she wanted to do. At first, Chisato wasn't much interested in this. She was used to being the one served food, and not the one making it, but being bored for several weeks and her maid had both pushed her to try this cooking thing out. At this point, anything was better than doing nothing. Once she had arrived to the kitchen, it was like a completely new world for the little girl. Her mouth was hanging open and her gray eyes brightened at the shining, metallic materials and surfaces. The different aromas of the herbs and vegetables that were put out on the table hit Chisato's nose and overwhelmed her with this, her chest tightening though not knowing why. As her maid opened the book, she stopped at the recipe to make "Ratatouille" and encouraged the little girl to get closer and read the recipe and try it out.

While the maid did most of the knifing work, Chisato still was baffled by the atmosphere of the kitchen and started to become even more impressed when her maid had placed the neatly-cut vegetables into separate plates. Both of them were making their own Ratatouille, though Chisato had a smaller bowl to put the sliced vegetables on. The girl's eyes were glued on the book as she analyzed every word of each step down to the same pattern of vegetables that was shown on the book, while her maid was just chuckling at her as she was almost done filling her own bowl. After they both had finished and baked them on the oven, it was time for the taste test. Chisato ate a bit of her own ratatouille and her eyes teared up instantly at the realization that she had just made something that she had never done, and most of all she enjoyed it and wanted to do it more. After all, it ended with a yummy treat in the end! When it came to tasting the maid's food, the little girl had literally gasped in surprise at how much better the food was even if both of them had used the same recipe overall. Chisato started to question the maid on how she had made something so tasty, and she had responded with that she had cooked for several years and even gone to a school that had taught her everything she knew. This school was Hasegawa Academy.

With a newfound activity to do, this simple hobby quickly developed into a great passion of hers. Not only was she learning quickly and making more and more food, but her parents were extremely supportive of their "Chii-chan" cooking passion. Yet, when she had turned 13, her maid had retired to move away and open her own restaurant, to which Chisato was extremely saddened about this, having cried for several days, but was determined to go down the same path her dear maid was going through and pursue her life with cooking. Studying day and night several fine dining and gourmet cooking books as well as cooking three meals everyday, by 15 years old Chisato took the courage to apply for Hasegawa Academy and her acceptance arriving soon after. Since the school was out of the continent, Chisato had decided to move there alone as she wished to become even more independent than she already had become. With this, she hoped to master her skills and, with luck, reunite with her old maid again.

Personality:

All work and no play makes Chisato a very unsociable girl to be around. Chisato, despite being young for her age, is extremely serious and hardworking in anything she does. She always tries to go high and beyond expectations and is quite diligent with her studies and responsibilities, choosing to do things early than procrastinate. Because of this, she's judgmental of those who are lazy on their duties or do as little work as possible. Yet, this serious image of hers is incredibly fragile and she's quick to break from her high-class image. Chisato is very easy to tease and fluster and gets angry easily as well, not being afraid to shout her complains towards the teasing person. She's also extremely emotional and, in simpler words, a crybaby. The Japanese girl can cry about the simplest things and she absolutely hates that fact about herself as she always nags at herself internally if her eyes start to tear up from anger, happiness or even embarrassment.

The girl tries hard to keep a respectable image in front of others, though unconsciously making her seem unapproachable. She isn't looking for friends, regardless, since she would prefer using her free time in perfecting her cooking skills. Even if she was approached by someone, her social skills are so poor from being homeschooled most of her life and, probably, Chisato would come off as harsh or way too formal for a normal person. Yet, no matter how serious and mature Chisato tries to act, she always tends to unconsciously come off as childish in slight things like little hops or a fascination for animal plushies or the joy of eating candy, even if she doesn't make them herself.

Chisato is a perfectionist, and like any others she's extremely critical of her own work more than anyone else's, though isn't afraid of giving out criticism to others even if it was unasked for. She's constantly looking to perfect her cooking skills and decorating and never thinking it's enough. Being so hardworking, though, makes Chisato know no fun or have a social life like a girl of her age would. She doesn't understand those who are carefree and outgoing and actively avoids large crowds to not socialize. Regardless, Chisato isn't shy and is willing to talk to others as long as her demeanor doesn't bother them, but the conversation would probably be short as the mint haired girl would prefer to do work over hanging out. Because of doing something most of the time, Chisato gets agitated when she's not doing anything.

In short words, Chisato is a "tsundere" girl who tries hard to keep a respectable image on her even if she's one to be embarrassed and teased easily as well as cry from the smallest things.
