Everything had began to happen really fast. One by one more halfings kept appearing. "Wow" she stood there quietly not like anyone took notice of her. She was use to that no one every really did. She wasn't really the type that stood out. Though she wish she did. She listen tot he conversations not really sure what to say. As she looked at the others she noticed all the type of cool monsters they were. 'Lucky' She thought to herself. She couldn't really do much. Actually she never saw carbuncles like herself she was starting to wonder if they were rare. She was suddenly snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a thud. Seemed like something was coming their way. Completely forgetting the thoughts she was having she suddenly grinned. "Does this mean I get fly now?" The fact that was probably danger on the way didn't even penetrate her mind. The only thing she was thinking about was actually getting a chance to fly in the air. She ran over to the griffin and just hopped on with out even asking if it was ok. She then looked at the others and yelled out. "Who else is riding?!" She then realized maybe she should introduce herself to the griffin she was about to ride on him and all. "Oh ey griffin I'm Ella by the way what's your name?"

Eloya looked at the girl who hopped on Arradis then wondered if hopping on him hurt his back. She hoped it didn't or else he'd have quite an ache. She shook her head and studied the red gem on her forehead, she loved the way it gleamed. Once those thoughts left her mind and she tuned back into the real world she offered to ride too, "I'll go too, I'm about as light as it gets."

That wasn't much of a stretch in her mixed form, when she stepped she didn't leave foot prints- she couldn't leave foot prints. She physically had to jump in place about ten times to leave a mark. She walked over to him, hopped up -wincing as she bent her arm- then sat down on the griffin. He was huge.

She was curious as to what was coming, but she really hoped it was not a monster. She had enough tangles with them today.

He'd pause to think for a moment, then Sesler would speak openly in the mind, saying-

Val, if you have any energy left, fly back to camp with Arradis so that he'll be introduced to the others. Monica, follow the forest behind Arradis.

He'd send the similar image to the camp through the woods, in a subtle method.

I'll stay and deter whoever is approaching. Wish me luck and the same to you.

He'd look down, to an ornate brass watch upon his wrist, muttering out loud-

"Four minutes...thirty two seconds."

He'd examine the terrain, kneeling down to touch the soil. At this height, he was eye level with the women, though his tall frame was still a giant presence.

I'll be safe. Val, tell the others that I'll be back in the night, maybe early in the morning.

Sesler had a knack for guessing when the group was close, as he had planned out the earlier diversion and knew the lay of the land based on patterns in ancient rivers that had led to the lake. It was a complex process he left to his subconscious to figure out. He drew the blade, a solid-leather grip and an extended blade, several feet in front of him.

Now, go, all of you!

The tips of Monica's hair began to turn a light crimson color as the thought of helping Seslerther fend off against whatever was coming for them came to her. However, the urgency in his voice and the blade in his hand proved to her that he was capable of holding his own. "If you're sure you don't need help then I'll see you back at the camp" She told Seslerther before turning towards Arrandis "You don't have to worry about me, I'm pretty fast myself".

He'd mentally sigh, not so that others could see. He didn't plan on fighting directly, so he'd then proclaim

It may be a bit late before I arrive.

He'd turn heel, dashing into the treeline to his right. In there, he'd begin to snare branches downward with grass threading. It was not resistant, meant to break at the smallest disturbance and release with enough force to crack a mortal skull. He'd do this in a semicircle, moving closer to the approaching group in silence. His gait was silent, and as he perched upon a rock, black cloak flattened, he could count close to 50, some armed with swords, others with firearms.

If you can hear this, you're too close. Move!

He'd yell mentally, giving himself a flash of pain across the temple. Sesler would continue the process, some branches already cracking as men trip the sensitive wire. The impact did not break rank; the soldiers were well disciplined. Sesler would examine their patterns and thinking, peering into the mortal thoughts of a few. Eventually, he'd learn an almanac of their tactics, and moved aside his rock.

With a hearty shove, several decent boulders would tumble, breaking the men's line of troops. Seslerther did not fear their vehicles, as the undergrown forest was to dense for it. By the time the men were a minute from the clearing, only around twenty remained. Out of those, only three had rifles, as Sesler aimed for the firearm body of men first. He'd sling rocks in a makeshift sling, tied tense between two Y-shaped trees. The rocks were inaccurate, but several spread in the air, dropping one gunman and injuring another. He'd dash sideways, peering into their thoughts so he could guess how they saw him, if at all. As for the remaining, he'd telepathize thoughts of retreat as though it was the men's own thought.

Damn mortals don't know the difference.

Some would leave, but five were stubborn to the core. He'd leave the treeline, drawing the blade at the half circle of sword fighters.

Giving a laugh at the carbuncle's excitment, Frivali flapped her wings and was above the treeline in a rush, her previous exhaustion seeming like it had never happened.

"Thanks Ses!" She flew a loop above him before beginning in the directiom of the camp. To make her travel more fun she quickly found some birds to fly with and talk to, even if they couldn't understand her or reply back, she enjoyed soaring next to them.

Arradis craned his neck to examine the small girl.

"My name is Arradis." The other girl got on his back as well, and Arradis flexed his wings. The first flight he had ever made with people's on his back. This would be interesting.

"Hold tight, I may slack off trying to catch you if yoiu fall." Before they could reaping he flapped his wingfs and they shot up. The weight wasn't tremendous, and he soon relaxed in the air. The winged girl was ahead of them by a few paces, and he let out a shrill caw. The wind was slightly frigid, but Arradis was comfortable. A group of birds flew by, and Arradis reflexively snapped at one, and caught it in his beak. Well, that could be dinner. He transferred it to his front foot and held it in his claws as he hurried his wing beats, sailing last the winged girl. The camp was getting closer. His eyes scanned the area until he finally saw it nestled in between the trees. He immediately went into a dive, snapping open his wings at the last second so they landed on the ground with a thud. He then reared up, effectively getting the girls off his back.

"Thank you for traveling Griffin Express, please never do it again." He snorted and grabbed the bird from his claws and went a little ways off from the girls and began ripping into it.

"What's your business, filth?" The one would say, facing Sesler directly. He obviously had a high opinion of himself, and twirled the blade tauntingly. Sesler would say nothing, holding the blade rigid in a lowered position.

"Your kind is hunted for a reason. Damn monsters lurk near, eating children, killing infants. Is that what you're here for?"

The man's taunts were weak, as Sesler peered into his thoughts and saw the bluff behind him. He'd reply out loud, in the same, deeply malicious voice akin to a demon.

"Have you ever ASKED a halfling what they planned on doing?"

The soldier was at a stump; obviously neither he or his companions had. Bias won over, however, and he said.

"Come on, shift forms for us and get REAL scary." He'd utter it sarcastically. Again, the taunts were ineffectual, as Sesler had no emotion of self-dignity or anger in a large sense. Sure, he felt the venom behind the words and had a twinge of annoyance, but it was caused more by the disruption in his carefully laid out plan. After a moment, Sesler would close the blade, and walked backwards.

"You have no qualm with me, mortal. Report to your commandment and tell them you lost track of me."

A precise minute had passed, and Sesler's wound branch let go, slinging rocks in a deadly velocity. He'd dash forward, twirling the blade to hold theirs down as he rammed a shoulder into the front man's jaw. Sesler's height gave him the physical advantage, slamming the man into the dirt. The other swung the blade over him, arching a deep slice across his back and stopping at the hip. Without the normal hesitation of pain, Sesler turned on a pivot, the blade slicing deeply into the man's temple, causing him to go limp and cease breathing. As the one looked to him, standing, Seslerther spoke telepathically, saying-

I played fair. A smarter solution was retreat, I'm afraid. I do apologize, and tell your wife that I'll kill your son if I see you again, David Spike.

Sesler had played careful attention to this man, seeing the thoughts that showed him he was a good mortal. Sesler wouldn't actually kill his son, a six-year old child, but simply wanted him to be scared. The trooper would leave, and Sesler would drop the foreboding act and begin to limp back to camp.

Now, for a disclaimed, normal Trini don't care for pain. They register it as a sense of the environment and try to learn why. However, the limited emotion Sesler felt screamed with agony, the blood quickly soaking his cloak. He was ten minutes and thirty seconds from camp, based on his speed and land-pattern slopes that'd slow him down. A guessing game, but one he excelled in.

Damn beasts'll smell me for miles.

He'd move faster, holding a hand over the end of the wound as he paced. Eventually, his strength ran low, and he'd be a few hundred meters from the camp before he collapsed, his mind struggling against his body.

"Well it's nice to meet you Arradis." She said smiling. She watched as the girl got on behind her and then held on as they were about to take off. When he shot up into the air she made a slight yelp out of surprise but once they were flying high in the sky a grin came upon her face as she looked down below her and all around. "This is the coolest thing ever!" She looked to the girl behind her and smiled. "My names Ella what's yours?" She got very relaxed as they flew through the air. She really liked this feeling. "Man creatures who can fly must be the happiest creatures ever." Soon enough they made it to the camp and got off the griffin she then watched as he hurried away to eat his meal he caught. "Never ride again? Well that's no fun." Ella then looked around where she was at. Looked like she had a new home. It had been while and she was glade she ran into them.

Frivali did a broad loop around the camp first, checking that no other forces from the battle were approaching, before swooping down and landing next to the Griffin, she threw her arms open to gesture in a sense to all that was around them, "Welcome to our home!" Some of the shelters around seemed plain and incomplete, "Well this is where it is at the moment. We probably won't be staying here long since those humans are all over this area." She clicked her tongue in annoyance, "You're all free to stay if you wanted, the only rule to be here is to be a half, and you've all got that covered." She laughed to herself and looked around proudly.

Then she focused her attentions to the smaller Carbuncle girl, "If I heard right your name is Ella? Your hair is a really nice colour!" Frivali's eyes shone, colours were always something that caught her attention and being surrounded by halves that inherited all sorts of brightly coloured features filled her with wonder.

Arradis snapped his beak in warning as the girl approached him while he was eating. He always got annoyed when people came close to his food. He scanned the camp with indifference, but realized the other man wasn't here yet. Hmm. He was the only one Arradis respected in a way. He didn't know why, but it was possibly from his demeanor. Was Arradis going to stay with this group? He was used to a solitary lifestyle, but it was slightly nice to be around others like himself. He finished his meal and wipped blood off of his feathers before launching back into the air, not even mentioning what he was doing. He scanned the ground as he flew, finally in spotting a figure. He landed quickly in front of the man and beckoned to his back. The tall figure would look awkward, but whatever.

Sesler, though unconscious, had an alert mind. Feeling the telepathic link of Arradis, he'd strain to say, his mental voice more quiet and subdued than normal.

Arradis, my physical body is unable to work. Trini have an uncanny ability to hold their bodies in hibernation until conditions are preferable. However, my human half is draining my energy, making my heart beat slower and slower. Gather the...others, my back has been slashed open, and I have lost too much blood for my muscles to accurately work.

He'd involuntary groan in his slumber, a defeated, wounded sound as he rolled onto his side.

Now, go!

Arradis made a sound of annoyance at the wounded man. So insufferable. The speaking inside his skull was just as aggravating as well.

Idiot. He thought back. He didn't know the man very well but it was quite obvious he held the other's well doing before his own, which Arradis grudgingly respected. Without the man the camp might fail. Arradis flapped his wings to where he was hovering a foot over the ground and then gently picked the man up, being careful so he wouldn't damage him with his talons. Arradis had to pump his wings a bit harder than normal but he persevered and soon they were flying as fast as Arradis was able to. The camp was below, and Arradis screeched loudly, trying to get the others attention as he flew down and let the man's limp body roll onto the grass.
