  • The school bell went off, signaling the end of class for the day. It was time for club activities.

The weather was fair in Miyagi Prefecture. The sun is shining bright, the wind seemed to counter the heat, and the birds are chirping and circling around Karasuno High. It's been 3 days since the students have chosen their own club. Some made their own club due to the fact that no fixed club in the school interests them, some didn't actually join any club because of their part-time job, and some were just forced to join a club. The Karasuno's volleyball club was once a powerhouse, but it all ended when Coach Ukai retired because of health problems. Some students skipped or quit the club. Karasuno, that time, was a school that kept losing. However, it was a thing of the past.

Karasuno has a new crazy powerhouse duo, along with more powerful first-years and newly enrolled second and third-years. It's time to change the tables up and beat Seijoh and Shiratorizawa. The old, flightless crows will be reborn anew. There are only 3 months left before the Spring High-Miyagi Prefecture Representative Playoffs.

Lin walked out of class, a rather bored and tired expression on his face. Math was definitely not his strong suite. Having joined the volleyball club, he was quite nervous as what was going to happen. He had heard of Karasuno's libero, a guy with amazing reflexes and skills. In all honesty, Lin was hoping to meet him, but he hoped not too soon. His walk was shadowed by these thoughts as he made his way to the gym, his old Shiratorizawa shirt hanging from his bag. Arriving at the gym, Lin couldn't help but overhear the sounds of a volleyball. Entering he saw the one guy he didn't want to meet, Yu Nishinoya. Here he was practicing with the wall. Dropping his bag on the ground with a thunk, Lin reacted as the ball went over his head. Diving back, he hit the ball behind him back into the wall.

  • 7th...8th...9th... Nishinoya was counting on how many consecutive receives he can do. As the ball dropped into his hand, he reacted, "Crap. I failed." The ball bounced to the wall, harder than it should be. He heard a faint thump, and it was probably a bag or something. He was about to run for the ball, until he saw a boy taller than him standing on his path. He was about to go around that guy, since he didn't want to break his consecutive receives. The guy dove to the ball, saving it and bouncing it back to the wall. It moved straight towards Nishinoya, but he didn't have time to react and the ball hit the floor in front of him.

His receive was too powerful, so instead of the ball bouncing back softly to him, the ball bounced to the side of him, going straight to the guy. However, the guy who was on the way of the ball redirected it back to the wall, absorbing the right amount force just for the ball to bounce back to the wall to him softly. That was a perfect receive.

"Whoa, nice receive bro!" Nishinoya stood up and walked to the guy who was still on the floor. "Are you a new volleyball club member?"

Lin stood up and stretched the kinks from his muscles as he grabbed the ball that bounced to his feet. He stood up tall enough to look the boy in the eyes. Nodding slightly, he tossed the ball back to Nishinoya and shrugged. "Yeah. Yeah, I am." he said bowing. "My name is Lin Miyamoto. A pleasure to meet you." he said as he stood back up, a small smile across his features. "You're the libero of Karasun, right?" he asked. "Yuu Nishinoya, the "One Many Army?" The boy in front of him did look the part, the shortness, the hair, even the general look. His thoughts were interrupted as a girl came into the gym. This was Kiyoko Shimizu, the manager for Karasuno.

"Oh... Nishinoya, you're here. I see you met Miyamoto." she said as she entered wearing her signature track suit. Having set up the gym prior to anyone coming, Kiyoko had gone to get some food for the guys later after practice and trials were over. Seeing the two liberos meet, she couldn't help but be a bit happy.

  • Lin Miyamoto... He was sure he heard that name before. Lin... Miyamoto... He was sure that his mind wasn't tricking him. Whenever something like this happens, it would probably mean that he had talked about him before. He silently tried to think on what was up with him, but judging from his receive, he wasn't a newbie. Maybe he's a defense specialist, like Daichi-san? He thought. He quickly scanned his physical features, and he had seen him before, probably in a match a year ago. "Yeah. I'm the libero. But, I wouldn't say I'm really a one-man army. The whole team itself is always strong when each of them are cooperating." He proudly said.

And then, he got interrupted to reality when he saw a goddess pass by the door to the gym. She only said one sentence, but Nishinoya felt as if she proposed him. As she closely exited the gym to get some food, he slowly phased back into reality and noticed Miyamoto in front of him.

Finally the school day was over and for Naoyuki that meant one thing club time, this was something he had been looking forward to all day. Walking out of his classroom a smile covered Naoyuki's face which is a change from the usual bored look that often covered his face. Naoyuki had always wanted to go to Karasuno mostly after shearing that Asahi Azumane was there the team ace, the pure power that he could create being able to blast the ball past three defenders and score countless time is what drew Naoyuki to him. Truth be told Naoyuki had been a fan of Asahi since Asahi's time in Sekodai Junior High the same junior high that Naoyuki went to, he was them ain inspiration for Naoyuki to play as a wing spiker and one day he wishes to become an ace of a team.

Naoyuki finally reached the doors to the gym and opened them shutting them behind him, inside it seemed that three others had beat him to the gym, two he knew as Yuu Nishinoya the extremely skilled Libero for Karasuno and Kiyoko Shimizu the highly attractive team's manager and one he didn't.

Lin could only smile as the boy went into a complete trance as he tried to recognize his name. His mother was a MIyamoto by name, an Olympic Gold medalist in volleyball. People would generally catch on to something like that. If not the name of his mother, others would see that he was the former starting Libero for Shiratorizawa, the one who got injured and quickly transferred to Karasuno after quitting the team. "I see. You're a team player, a libero who focuses on not just making sure the ball stays in play, but also a libero who keeps the fighting spirit in his team. As long as the ball is in, you can win." Lin smiled and went to pick up his bag as a goddess walked by him. Looking at her, he nearly dropped his bag, but then she left. "Oh... yeah. You might recognize my name, the former libero of Shiratorizawa."

  • "That's what I believe in." Nishinoya said. What he said was actually accurate, and he wondered if Miyamoto watched one of Karasuno's matches. Scratching his head, he heard what Miyamoto had said, and it all clicked in. "Shiratorizawa. First-year libero, who was on the starting lineup of the And then, a flashback happened on his mind.

"Aha!" He exclaimed. "I remember you! You were on the starting lineup on a match of Shiratorizawa against Aoba Johsai last year! I watched the whole match." The match itself was amazing. He saw Miyamoto play for the first-half of the first set, in which their team was leading by three points. Unfortunately, he got an injury and was put to the bench for the whole match. Nishinoya ignored the part in which he gets an injury. "You were so cool! You were, 'whoooom' and 'zshhhhh'." He happily said as he made silly gestures.

Just as Naoyuki was about to approach either of the two that he knew belonged to Karasuno volleyball team he felt a hand gently place down on his shoulder causing Naoyuki to recoil slightly out of surprise, he took a slight second to recompose himself before finally looking at the individual and recognizing him. It was Sawamura Daichi the caption of Karasuno's volleyball team and from what Naoyuki had heard an expert in defensive play the opposite of Naoyuki's playstyle. "Yes, I do need something." Naoyuki said answering the question before taking a deep breath. "I would like to join the volleyball team my name is Naoyuki Itou, i'm a first year and I am a wing spiker I can play either right or left wing I have no preference." Naoyuki added quickly after.

  • Daichi reached out on his bag and looked for the club application forms. As he looked at the form with the name Naoyuki Itou. “A first year, huh?” He muttered. As he scanned more in his application form, he found something that might be interesting. “You’re a wing spiker, yet you left your preference blank.” He said. “Perhaps, like you said earlier, you can use both your right and left hand for spiking the ball?” If this new club member can spike on both wings without any difficulty, he could be very useful for scoring points and luring in blockers. That is, if he could match up to Kageyama’s so-called ‘King’s set’.

Naoyuki listened closely to Daichi's muttering trying to get an inclining into what his train of thought was, but it seemed he was just muttering about what year Naoyuki was. Naoyuki listened closely to Daichi talking and nodded when he mentioned that Naoyuki left his preference. "I will say that I am left handed so my right hand is slightly weaker but for a while, I was using my right hand to spike so I built up some strength in it." Naoyuki said just in case Daichi believed he had the same power in both hands. Naoyuki began to try and read Daichi and what he was thinking but Naoyuki has no idea.

  • "I see." Daichi understood. He finally knew what he had to know, and greeted him. "Oh, and uh, I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Daichi Sawamura, in case you didn't know my name." He flashed him a smile, and then he moved on. "Okay, let's move on and I'll introduce you to them." He entered the gym with him, but then, he only saw a two persons on the gym. He saw Nishinoya, who was wearing his ideal 'One Man Army' t-shirt, and another tall guy. Judging by his appearance, he must be the other new club member. Lin Miyamoto, the former libero of Shiratorizawa. But then, Daichi couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Two liberos who both admire each other was facing each other. Seems like this is going to be a good day.

Lin chuckled as Nishinoya described his game against Aobi Johsai, the fateful game that would end his time in Shiratorizawa. It was a fun game in all honesty, but even Lin knew the seriousness of the game. It was maybe the biggest game Lin played as Libero. That one fateful misstep, that one false move, and Lin only knew pain. His leg throbbed slighlty in phantom pain as he remembered the game. "Yes, I suppose I was somewhat crazy during the game, but maybe it was for the better I got injured. My mother always said Karasuno was a nice school. She wasn't wrong." Looking over his shoulder as he heard more distant chatter, he saw Sawamura Daichi and some kid he didn't know. "Hey, do you know those two?"

  • Nishinoya replied, "Karasuno High is an awesome school, dude! I'm sure you'll enjoy here." He cheerfully grinned at Miyamoto. Looking back behind, he saw Daichi-san, their team captain, and with him is another guy, which can possibly be another new club member. "The one over there that looks like a third-year is Sawamura Daichi-san. He's Karasuno's team captain and he is really good at receiving powerful serves, just in case you didn't know. The other guy beside him, I'm not familiar." He replied to Miyamoto. Nishinoya was friendly and noisy at times like this, so he waved at them and shouted, "Yo, captain!"
