Fantasy Guilds of Fortune

"...Nari, then." He grinned, knowing she had warmed up enough to entrust him with her real name. Of course, such information was something that he already knew and had filed into the cabinets in his mind, but to hear her say it was something else entirely. "And sorry, if you think you're gonna get away from that 'sweetheart nonsense', you chose to work with the wrong guy. Ever lass I encounter earns a nickname or two. I think 'sweetheart' suits you just fine." A low chuckle grumbled from his chest.

Balthier began the ascent up the Great Stairs of Yukumo, reaching the top of the village with Nari by his side. "Well. I appreciate your kindness, Nari. Not all are akin to work with scallywags like me. Guess that makes you a gift." He fumbled with the sapphire as he looked up the Guild Hall, noticing the silhouettes of a tall man and short girl standing before the Master.

"Who do you suppose they are?"

"I need to know where this Balthier is, it is rather important" Aedan had to fight to keep the irritation off of his face. He was tired of the guild master and his misdirection, he understood the need to protect the privacy of many of the hunters- especially since his own kill had been poached more then once. Not that he really minded, he made more then enough as a rank 7 hunter that he didn't need the extra work- but that was beside the point. This was an emergency. He couldn't afford another stay-over at this town. He had to get back to the frontier, they needed more reinforcement on the leyvetten border.

"Well, you'll just have to wait for him to complete his hunt- and if you were more patient perhaps you'd see that he has already returned!" The guild master grumbled, his wizened old face pinched with annoyance as he waved in the general direction of the two figures approaching him.

Aedan turned, white armor glinting in the sun as he regarded the two quickly approaching. One in a rather.. flambouyant apparel, most likely the man he had come here to seek. The other was a girl, woman? In oddly familiar black armor. He looked down, feeling a small tug on his arm.

Aislyn looked back up at her brother, eyes wide with curiosity- something he could only describe as a kelbi-in-torchlight look. Her lips rounded as she whispered, and he could only thank the gods every day that they sent his sister to him. She always knew the goings on of the hunters in the realm.

"That's Black wing- the apprentice of Black Shadow. You hunted with him once." She kept her voice low, the barest hints of a curve at the corners of her lips betraying her own pride in her knowledge.

"Then that must be Balthier." He stepped forwards, trotting partway down the stairs to meet the two half-way up. His armor was surprisingly silent for something with so much metal- though the occasional peek of white hide was probably to thank for that.

"You must be Balthier, and Black wing. I've been looking for you."

Nari, who really couldn't care one way or another what the other hunters in the world were doing, could only really narrow her eyes at the glamorously dressed man. How did he even hunt in something like that- the glow would probably give him away at night.

"Depends who's asking." Nari grinned, baring her teeth in something that resembled friendliness- but with something of a predatory edge.

Was Balthier surprised that someone had been sent to look for him? No, not in the slightest. It was the reasoning the made him curious. The pirate looked from Black Wing to the small girl, she can't possibly be a hunter, and then up to Aedan once again.

"Brilliant Flame," he said in recognition, offering a hand for the taller man to shake. "You're awfully far from Leyvetten. Come this far to put me in chains, then?" The last time he had encountered the Leyvetten Royal Family, he made a rather too-forward advance with the princess. Perhaps the king was finally going to live up to his threats.

The guild master seemed shocked that a man of Balthier's ranking could be wanted for a crime that would require jail, but he knew better than to stick his nose in affairs that weren't his concern, especially considering Balthier was a foreigner in their country.
