Actually, the Winged Dragon of Ra has the arguably worst effect compared to the other God Cards (all of them, Wicked Fiends, Sacred Beasts, Nordic, etc) lowering your own LP to 100, in return for alot of attack points. It's like the most dangerous effect to be using, as 100 LP makes you very susceptible to any form of damage. For a record, Hinotama and Ruffian Railcar can get rid of 500 instantly, and in the current meta, Ultimate Conductor Tyranno (1000 instantly) which kinda makes Ra's effect practically useless. Unlike Obeslisk who still is viable in the current meta with Monarchs, Ra is just complete and utter suicide, and has a whopping 0 attack and defense without you committing suicide. Did I mention Magic Cylinder is a thing? Well Magic Cylinder is a thing.

and even though Ra has had tons of support (like Immortal Phoenix and Sphere Mode) Slifer and Obelisk are both much more viable options, and especially Obelisk with a solid 4000 Attack and defense and immunity to effects.

And can I point out how useless both of Ra's effects are?
7900 attack. Cool, I'll attack you directly. NOPE, YOUR OPPONENT HAS LIKE FIVE THOUSAND DIFFERENT COUNTERS IN THEIR FUCKING HAND. WHUP, YOU LOSE.

and second effect: 'I pay 1000 LP to destroy---' WHUP YOUR OPPONENT HAS LIKE FIVE THOUSAND DIFFERENT COUNTERS IN THEIR FUCKING HAND. WHUP, YOU LOSE.

That's why I choose Felgrand (my god Felgrand is beautiful, banish everyhting your opponent has in their field and grave, and summon 4800 attack beatsticks) and Dinosaurs over Ra any day.
