Ghoul School

DungeoneeringGoddess

Dungeoneering Goddess
For years now Miss Grimmwood's Finishing School has been right next door to Colonel Calliway's Military School, they attend dances together, they compete against one another - but things are about to get crazy when two students get involved together and one of the Cadet's learns the secret of Miss Grimmwood's girls and how ghoulish they really are!

A one on one roleplay.

Name: Bastion Helgard

Age: 17

Hair colour: Dark blonde

Body type: strong

Personality: easy going, ease to smile and glad to share a joke or two.

Distinguishing marks: only a small cut over the bridge of his nose where it had been broken before.

Bio: Bastion joined his first school as any other kid, but when he joined, it was to follow the great lineage of his father, to go into a military school. For the first few years of his young life, it was learning how to march, wake up early, make a bed, fold your clothes, and of course how to handle a weapon and bare handed fights.

That lasted only until he was finally accepted in to Colonel Calliway's Military School, the finest school for military boys to be in. The time spent in the school was valuable, but no matter all the training, he was still curious to what was going on in Miss Grimmwood's Finishing School.

Name: Laura

Age: 17

History: Laura is from a large, prominent family in the 'monster' community, and while she has two older brothers, she is the one and only daughter. She was brought up in a loving, but old fashioned home and when it was time for Finishing School, Miss Grimmwood's was the only place. (.....thats really all I want to put down for now. I like to build my characters for such casual roleplays more as I go along than putting it all together now. Then we have more freedom. :) )

Laura woke up that morning in her luxurious room that she was raised in. She got up, brushed her teeth, got dressed and joined her family at the front door to their mansion. "I'll see you all for the holidays." She said and hugged and kissed each one of them that was there, unfortunately it was only her parents and one brother, the eldest was out of town currently, but she would get to see him soon anyways. She got in the limo and endured the four hour car ride to Miss Grimmwood's Finishing School. Her car pulled up in front of several other cars, most of them recognizing the signature flags on her limo's antenna identifying the car as belonging to the prestigious Vadlescu family. As she stepped out of the car is was obvious she was more than old money, she was also very beautiful with porcelain skin, dark grey-blue eyes, and long, healthy black hair, not to mention her body that was seemingly perfect in her white blouse and black pencil skirt that showed off her long, slender legs.

She smiled as her driver got out of the car and began to get her bags and follow her inside. She was greeted at the door by the short, eccentric Miss Grimwood,"Oh darling! Laura! I am so glad you are finally here! Come inside let me show you to your room!" Laura smiled,"Well they couldn't keep me away forever now could they. Thank you so much for the warm greeting Miss Grimm." The woman led her inside and up to her room. It was decent enough. It had a king sized, luxurious bed with thick, heavy purple curtains. It was well furnished with an antique desk, vanity, and dresser with a bathroom of its own and a thick plush carpet. She was sure to feel right at home in the spacious room she was given. Not all the girls had such lush accommodations, but then again her parents paid to have the room decorated before she went there, so most of this was paid for by the family and the other girls could customize their rooms later. The driver brought her bags in and left them by the door for her and she bid him good bye at her door. "Give mother and father my love." She said sweetly. Miss Grimmwood smiled,"Well alright, I've got to go downstairs to greet the other girls. I'll see you at dinner." She smiled and nodded. Laura looked around her room for a moment before deciding she'd procrastinate unpacking and decided to change into something more comfortable to explore the school. She changed into a pair of dark wash jeans and a long-sleeved navy blue top with a v-neck that showed off her figure as it fit her perfectly, hugging her curves. She walked downstairs and outside, seeing that there was a pool out back and a fence that separated her school from the Military school next door. Most of the girls were only showing up today and classes wouldn't begin until tomorrow. She suspected the same for the boys' school...

The morning came with a bit too much excitement, and noise. Noise always seemed to follow excitement, it was strange to wake up with so much noise. His family lived moderately and with the type of quiet his soldier father seemed to enjoy. It wasn't a bad family, but it different from other families when compared to his friends. Still, Bastion was also excited for the day, even when he didn't want to show it.

Quickly dressing and making the bed, he followed the usual routine of brushing his teeth before leaving his room. The small bedroom apartment was just big enough for the three of them. It made his family feel like a real family, especially on mornings like these.

Bastion ate breakfast with his excited family, hearing his father talk about the praise for Colonel Calliway's school while his mother discussed what training he should rather concentrate on during his stay in the school. She was father tougher than his father, but she was the one that always made sure he did his best.

With breakfast done, his goodbyes spoken for the day, Bastion climbed on the sort of new motorcycle and rode out to the new school, remembering the road he had memorized.

With his home close to the school, it only took him a few moments before he reached the school, parking the motorcycle and headed for the school gates, putting his hat on as he walked quickly, a smile finally coming to his lips.

The school was known for being strict, hard and unforgiving on the students, but then the students from this school were also known for their accomplishments. Secretly Bastion hoped he could get some great form of accomplishment, to reach where his father could not.

"Back straight!" A deep voice snapped and Bastion immediately straightened his back more out of reflex.

A quick look showed that it was not him being spoken to, but another student entering the school yard.

"That's Sargeant Harris. Best steer clear of him. Toughest instructor here."

"Thanks for the advice." Bastion nodded and looking to the fellow student, a slightly younger lad with hair shaved off and a slight beard busy growing. "I'm Bastion. I'm new here."

"Deven." He returned before the two of them shook hands. "But best hurry. The new recruits must meet in the hall before first bell. Just go straight, through the corridor, turn left and you're there. Don't be late!" Deven said as he half trotted away while giving directions, obviously in a hurry to get to where he needed to be.

Bastion followed the instructions given to him and headed for the corridor straight ahead of him. As he moved at a quick walk, he followed the fence that separated them and the girl's school. He had heard stories of the school, he didn't think it would look so...girly. With its arches and statues and immaculate garden, it was odd to have them right next to each other.

Bastion looked over the school and on to the garden before he laid eyes on a girl that looked rather comfortable in the school. She strode around with a smile and perfect posture and clothes that revealed far too much for Bastion's liking. She was pretty. Actually she was beautiful, she had everything a woman should have, but then she was in a prestigious girl's school. It was best leave her in peace.

She disappeared from view when he entered the corridor, leaving Bastion no choice but to return his mind to the task at hand. Quickening his walk, Bastion hurried for the hall before he would be late on his first day, leaving a very impression.

Laura watched as the boys arrived and made their way quickly inside and to their first class...she guessed she was wrong about their schedule. She shrugged and turned, walking back behind her school through the garden and around the pool before she made her way inside again. There wasn't much to do today since everyone was still showing up and unpacking so she went ahead and decided to do the same. She went up to her room and unpacked her clothing, some pictures of her family, and a few of her hobbies such as some books and sketch paper and went ahead and set those up as well.

Not much else happened for her until she got dressed for dinner, resuming her pencil skirt and white blouse. There wasn't exactly a harsh dress code here, especially not for out of school hours, however when meeting the girls who were daughters of other important families for the first time, she needed to look halfway decent. After all this was the Vladescu name we're talking about. She went down and mingled with the other girls while they waited on dinner to be served, most of them relatively nice, all of them Ghouls of different kinds. Miss Grimm entered and tapped on a glass to make a toast and to signal everyone to have a seat. "Good evening girls! Its so nice to have all of you here. There's a lot of new faces but it seems like most of you already know each other for the most part. I would like to say a few words about our school before we eat together for the first time. Miss Grimmwood's Finishing School is all about teaching you proper etiquette for gatherings both in our community and in the humans community, as well as a whole range of valuable skills for homemaking. But we are also an advanced school. For centuries the generations before you were bred and raised around only your race, but here we are all equals- we are sisters. To us!" the girls toasted. "An inspired speech." Laura complemented with a smile. The girls sat down to dinner as a spell served the food.

They retired to bed and the next morning their classes started. Most of their classes were inside today however Laura and a few other girls did take lunch on the patio in the backyard. Finally when the day was over Miss Grimmwood pulled Laura aside,"Laura dear, we made these in the culinary class today. Would you be a dear and take them to the Colonel and his boys next door? Its an old tradition we've done for years now." Laura smiled,"Sure thing Miss Grimm." She said and took the brownies and headed next door. Today she wore a dark purple long sleeved shirt with a v-neck and a short black flared skirt as well as a pair of tights and heels, her hair pulled into a braid that hung over her shoulder. She walked around the fence and up the long walkway to the boys' school door, where she paused and rung the door bell, assuming impeccable posture, a raised chin, with her feet together holding the platter of brownies and cookies in front of her with a card on top of it. Waiting on someone to answer the door. The sun set about an hour ago, so the boys should have been done with classes by now.

The day went by rather quickly. When he reached the hall, Bastion was introduced to the teachers there, all of them men with varying ranks. Major General Tersen was the head of the school, looking the part as much as he acted the part. After the greeting to the new students, they were separated into their prospective groups and taken through the school on orientation.

The groups were each shown where their classes would be, the training grounds, medical rooms, and of course, the dorms. Bastion would not be using the doors. Since his home was so close to the school and he already had his license, commuting back and forth made his life a bit more relaxed.

After the orientation had been done and the students allowed to do as they wished for the remainder of the day. The new recruit was about to head home, his bag over his shoulder, keys in one hand and the other holding his helmet when one of the teachers appeared in front of him.

"Heading home already?" Sargeant Danielson asked, hands clasped behind his back.

"Yes sir." Bastion replied quickly, giving the Sargeant a salute, keys dangling from his fingers.

"We have to talk about that Bastion. We don't mind our students and going between home and school every day, but for you, well we would like you to stay on in the dorm. We've seen your record, you would be a good role model for the other recruits. Of course, it won't come with out compensation. We'll cover all costs for your stay in the dorm, will that do?"

Bastion wanted to say yes, but he had to go over this with his parents first, it was the right thing to do. "Can I ask my parents Sargeant? I'm sure they will agree."

The Sargeant gave an approving nod and walked away, catching another student a few steps away. Bastion felt a little relieved. The teachers here were all career men, spending their entire lives in the army and as such, their demeanor could only be described as harsh. It was the only teachers Bastion knew considering his history, but these men were far more strict.

With the thought of getting out of the house, and Bastion headed home and waited until dinner to discuss what had been offered. His parents, as he had predicted, were glad to agree, which meant that very night, Bastion packed all that he needed into the army back, strapped it on to the back of the bike and returned to the school.

Since he knew where the dorm was, he returned there with hopes of having a good stay here in the school. A private first class quickly took Bastion to his room and bed, which was a bit surprising, he was sharing it with Deven.

"Welcome!" Deven greeted happily when he saw Bastion enter the room. "I was hoping for someone fun to roomie with!"

"I don't think fun is allowed here." Bastion pointed out when the door was closed and the private was gone.

"Actually they leave us alone in the dorms. Sort of a growing up type of thing. We're allowed to do as we wish as long as no one dies, or seriously hurt, well that's what I've learned. Been here for three years now and never been in trouble. Except in training once, there was a mistake with my rifle..."

Deven could talk, well he could ramble more by the sounds of it. Still, he could have had a worse roommate. At least he had one that wasn't so bad, they could even be friends. With that, Bastion settled into his new home for the semester with Deven's help.

I only just past midnight they went to sleep, waking early the next morning for class. Classes were exactly as he expected. mathematics followed by science and the usual lot of classes, ending the afternoon on the firing range.

Bastion was only to glad to return to his room when the day was done, removing the uniform in exchange for a simple t-shirt and board shorts, the best for this weather. He had barely dressed himself when Deven burst into the room, a grin on his face the size of a banana, and if he had done a closer inspection, he was sure he would have seen tears in Deven's eyes.

"There's a girl! One of them from next door! And she's here!" Deven exclaimed excitedly. "Come on!"

Bastion didn't have time to respond as Deven dragged him out his room and to the front door. Bastion couldn't lie, he was curious to see who the girl was and why she was here exactly, did the two schools even mingle?

Just as they reached the door, the soft bell rang and in his excitement, Deven skidded to a halt, but the boots were made to not skid, so instead he stopped dead and slammed forward, hitting the floor with an oomf.

Bastion grinned and took the chance to open the door ahead of anyone else, and there was quickly a group forming as news of the girl spread. Bastion pulled the door open with Deven still sprawled on the floor, a huge group of boys forming and a grin now on his face as well. He didn't think of the sight that would greet the girl when he opened the door.

"Hey, I know you!" Bastion said with a remembrance of the previous day.

Laura stood patiently at the door, her impeccable sense of hearing catching the commotion behind the door of gathering feet.....and someone falling. However she didn't reflect that on her face, keeping her expression that of a patient girl. Finally she heard the twist of the knob and the click inside the door before it pulled back and revealed a whole crowd of boys, with Bastion right up front. She smiled brightly as the door finished opening in a warm greeting to all the faces. She realized why Miss Grimm sent her for this dangerous mission. She was about to greet him when he beat her too it, er, well, king of.

She looked at him a moment, pausing, as if seeming to wonder where he knew her from. "Ah...I'm sorry have we met?" She asked him, her expression remaining rather innocent, letting her deep blue eyes hit his own without fear of eye contact. Of course she remembered him, she caught him glancing at her the first day up here - and her memory was anything but forgetful. But to say he KNEW her was a stretch. She doubted he read any of the magazines her father and his family could have been included in - usually the business magazines featured him and only him, only the socialite magazines had pictures of the whole family. So she doubted he KNEW her.

Laura looked down at the plate of sweets. "I'm Laura Vladescu. I'm from the school next door, Miss Grimm sent me with this for all of you." She said holding the tray up. It was an immaculate silver tray filled with what looked like those luxury brownies and cookies you found in those wedding bakeries, they were covered with a clear wrap and had a bow tied around it neatly, which also held a deep red colored envelope. "Is Colonel Caliway home? I'd like to introduce myself and make sure he gets her card personally." She asked him politely. Her manners, well, almost perfect. Normally when someone said you knew them it was more polite not to doubt them.

She knew that most of these boys didn't see girls too often since most of them would have come from other military schools, but it wouldn't be any fun if she made it easy on them. So she was careful not to reveal too much. She resumed her sweet smile as she waited on their response.

While the two schools didn't interact on a daily basis, every month or two they would meet up for a competition or on a rare occasion for a dance or a mixer. The mixers were a great chance for the girls to practice their party manners and for the boys to get a bit of a break since most of them were staying at home, and the competitions were just pure competition. There was a trophy and everything!

(I know that isn't realistic, but it makes it easier for us to interact xD )

Bastion was caught a little off guard but the girl, Laura as she so pleasantly introduced herself, but only because that was when it hit him. For a moment he considered spilling his thoughts and quickly decided against it, sometimes, things didn't need to be said or best to leave forgotten, and this was one of such times.

With a friendly smile, Bastion took the try from her, holding it carefully, in case he dropped it and would probably be the most hated man in the dorm, if not the entire school. "I don't know about Colonel Calliway..." Bastion told as he looked around to the others. "I've only met Mjaor General Tersen." Bastion turned around, whirling the tray with him to face the rest of the dorm. "Does anyone know where Colonel Calliway is?"

"Building in the back." Deven told, thumbing over his shoulder while rubbing the red bump forming on his forehead.

"Do you want an escort...Laura?" Bastion asked, turning back to the rather beautiful girl and her sweet smile.

He wouldn't mind taking her to the colonel, but he could almost already imagine just what Deven would say about all of this. The other boys might just tie him to a chair and grill him the whole night through if the two of them spent so much as a minute alone. But then again, it would be worth the torture.

She allowed him to take the tray from her, although she doubted it was safer in his hands - then again he thought she was a human after all. She did however retrieve the card from the top if it though. Laura nodded when he admitted to not knowing Colonel Calliway or where he was and looked with him to the rest of the boys as he asked them for help on the subject. She raised an eyebrow to Deven, he must have been the one she heard fall. She hid an amused smile as she glanced away, only looking back when Bastion asked if she would like an escort - letting her blue eyes strike his own. "Yes thank you. I'd appreciate that very much." She said, moving and taking his arm, careful not to cause him to loose his balance of the sweets, she gave him a look as to say she suspected she needed one through all these hormones in front of her, a look which came in the form of a small smirk.

They began to walk to the back of the building, the crowd of young men parting like the red sea for the two as they walked. Once they were out of ear shot she looked at him,"I would say it seems as if you don't get many female visitors, but its too soon to tell." She said glancing over her shoulder before looking in front of them again. The more she spoke the more he was able to hear a very feint Romanian accent only on a word or to it seemed.

"So does my escort have a name?" She asked him, teasing him gently. Once they were one on one there was something off about her aura in general, sure she was perfectly nice, and her looks were well enough, maybe it was something about her scent? It was unlike the perfumes and pheromones of your typical girls, there was some sort of spice to it, perhaps some sort of foreign incense? And when her eyes hit his it seemed as if it was more difficult to look away from them, perhaps because of their stunning color..? He might not be exactly sure why.. She looked back in front of her, breaking eye contact with him herself to ensure he led her int he right direction.

(I keep forgetting things in my first few posts and dont think about it until later xD )

(Im also going to try and work in some adams family language, you know how they make like subtle death jokes and stuff? lol)

"Bastion Helgard." He replied a bit sheepishly, looking away from the girl that was so casual with her touch.

He had kissed a girl before of course, but they had been dating at the time. For a girl so casually touch him, making no fuss about it, made him only slightly uncomfortable. The rest he felt seemed to switch between excitement and nervousness. He wasn't sure what he was suppose to say to her, or even act around a girl being brought up as a true lady, not that he had ever met a lady. So he resigned himself to doing the only thing he could think of, answering her questions.

"It's my first day here to be honest. I got transferred from Military Academic. My dad went here when he was still a kid and now he managed to get me in, but I honestly don't think my scores are good enough. I know he knows the Major General, they seem to talk like old friends. But maybe there are a lot of girls here usually, it wouldn't surprise me about Deven."

As much as he would like to act like the professional soldier he was being trained for, Bastion instead found himself rambling. He wasn't exactly sure why, it could be the fantastic smell from Laura, or it could be how she seemed to be holding his arm but he was getting the feeling she was the one leading him.

At any rate, the thought of it all did put a smile on his face. It was his first day at the new academy. He had gone through orientation, which was a breeze, his parents gave him full permission to be on his own, and now he had a girl on his arm. If this day got any better, he might just not end up sleeping that night.

(well forgetting things aren't that bad haha, it happens. And you're welcome to add the more darker type of humour, like Adams family.)

She nodded as she listened to him, keeping her eyes straight forward for the most part, only glancing at him occasionally from the corner of her eye so that he would know she was listening - but she didn't want to make direct eye contact with him again until she knew where she was going.

"Ah, well, I'm sure they wouldn't have let you in if they didn't think you could life up to the Calliway name no matter who you knew. There must have been something outstanding about your record I'm sure." She replied about him not being sure he has the grades for it. "But I wouldn't worry, if your grades aren't very good, they are sure to whip them into shape, your teachers won't just sit there and watch you fail like a Tasmanian Devil's mother." She said, but even as the last part came out of her mouth, it sounded just as natural as could be, like there was nothing else she could have said there except for what she did.

"And as for the girls, well I suppose we'll see as the year goes on." She said and finally looked back at him, giving him that direct eye contact again right as they reached Colonel Calliway's door. She released her hands from Bastion and looked at the door. She knocked and it was answered shortly after by Colonel Calliway, a tall man with brown hair that was starting to grey, still in his pristine uniform. He smiled when he saw the tray of sweets,"Ahh yes, the yearly sweet tray." He said with a smile and nodded to Bastion before giving his attention to the young woman in front of him. "And who may I ask is delivering it this year?" She smiled,"I'm Laura Vladescu." She answered, she held her hand out and he took it, not giving it a kiss but simply bowing his head as a greeting - the two performed the ritual as if it was the most natural thing in the world - there was no awkward pause in which one didn't know what to do for such an old fashioned hello. Next Laura held out the sealed card,"And this is from Miss Grimmwood." He smiled and took the letter. "Thank you very much. Now I won't take up to much of your time, Ms. Vladescu I hope to see you around more. Have a wonderful night." He directed his attention to Bastion,"If you will please take those to the dining room, you and the others may go ahead and have them." He said and gave them a curt nod before shutting his door again.

Laura looked at Bastion and shrugged,"He seems pleasant enough." She said before turning to follow Bastion back to the front door.

Bastion wasn't exactly sure what he was suppose to say. First the mysterious delivery, then the walk to the office that seemed to stand apart from the school and now he was sent back to the dorms. If they colonel was expecting a delivery, why didn't he wait by the entrance? Wouldn't that be more gentlemanly thing to do? It was all beginning to look very odd to Bastion. Then again, he had never been part of a military school where the girl's school was right next door, maybe there were just these little traditions they upheld, a yearly welcoming of sorts.

"He seems like my old trainer. One moment he smiles, the next he makes you peel a thousand potatoes. He scares me a bit. I've never trusted a soldier that smiles."

Those were not his own words, but those of his father, who never smiled, and when he did smile, Bastion became scared. Now he was in a school that looked like any other school, but the colonel was strange. Maybe he was retired. He would have to ask Deven why the colonel was here but not actually doing anything.

Bastion didn't actually think what he was doing as he was deep in thought, walking faster than he intended to, heading for the dorm with his eyes on the big building and wondering what exactly about this school felt odd to him. He couldn't put his finger on it but there had to be something making him feel this way.

(Sorry I seem to come up with a block. please forgive the short post and how long it took me to write it :/ )

Laura listened to him as they walked and when he was finished speaking she nodded,"Ah, well you can't trust many things that smile." She said with a thoughtful sigh. "But on the other hand," She continued,"Miss Grimm spoke as if the two of them were vary close. I know they are often competitors, but the schools interact quite a bit so I assume they see a lot of each other." She said as they reached the front door. "Well, this is my stop. I hope I see you around." She said giving him a small, rather ironic, smile as she turned and left.

The next morning she got up and joined the other girls for breakfast before attending classes. Finally at the end of the day a few girls decided to sit out by the pool in the backyard, a few of them diving in, some of them staying clear of the water. They would only have an hour or two of sunlight, but it would be enough for a relaxing afternoon for them before dinner. Laura chose to sit out of the water and under an umbrella, protecting her delicate skin while taking in the warmth of the outdoors. One girl with green eyes and brown hair sat on the edge of the pool, looking across the iron fence at the boys campus. "What do you think military boys do in their spare time?" She asked with a heavy Irish accent Laura thought about it and looked at her, raising her sunglasses,"Why do you ask about military boys? What do you think humans do in their spare time at all?" she asked, sure there was no one around to listen in. She shrugged and sat back,"They all seemed fairly interested when I delivered the sweet tray if that tells you anything."

The girl looked at her,"Aren't you interested at all? This is probably the most interaction with THEM any of us will have before we have to return home." She said. Laura thought a moment,"Hmm... I suppose they are mildly interesting." She said looking over the fence as well, however she quickly sat back in her seat as she saw a few of them begin to come outside as well.

(hey there. Sorry I'm replying a bit late, got completely stuck with work and all that stuff. So been hectic this side.)

Bastion listened to the girl talk, finding it rather odd to ak back to the girl, like she was some vip from a country that he had to bow and scrape to. She was just a student from the school next door, just another one like them, propped into a specialized school and the expectations for them were far beyond what was possible. Still, she gave off an air of importance that was impossible to ignore.

Without giving him a chance to say a word, the girl left him standing in the doorway, lost in his own thoughts and confusion. Still, it had bee fun having her there, seeing something other than a boy in uniform, walking with perfect posture in case one of the instructors decided to make a surprise inspection.

With that done, Bastion retired to his room, enjoyed a shower and a quiet meal in his room. Despite being alone, he was still interrupted every now and then by someone wanting to ask about the girl.

Eventually he managed to get them and Deven to leave him in peace so he could get a proper night's sleep. The next morning was the usual. Woken by a drill Sargeant with a loud voice, make your bed, get dressed and march off to class. Most of the classes didn't do much that day. They revolved around introductions of the teachers and what the classes would consist of. It took most of the day. By three the afternoon, Bastion was back in his room and dressed in normal clothes.

"So? Going to visit her today?" Deven asked with a bright smile and a twinkle in his eye that seemed to be held for a boy with devious intent.

"Why? I don't know her! And I don't think the teachers will look too kindly on me just sneaky over there to see a girl. I don't feel like peeling anything!"

"I'm sure she likes you!"

"Well I'm not too crazy about her." Bastion dismissed with what he thought was a rather persuasive lie.

Truth was he thought about her quite a bit during the day. Mostly he just wondered who she was exactly, introducing herself in such a way that made it seem like they were all suppose to recognize the name. And the way she talked to him, like he was just someone there to fill her interests until she no longer needed it.

He wasn't about to give up, but he wasn't exactly going to stalk her either. He would learn more about her in time. Though time wasn't something he could do right now when the bell suddenly rang. It was not for class, it was also not the bell for an emergency drill.

"Well this should be fun!" Deven said as he hopped off the bed. "Every now and then the Sargeant gives us a mission. Sometimes we have to build a fort or sharpshooter contest. It helps build our skills. Today should be something good." Deven explained as he lead Bastion through the hall at a brisk walk.

Bastion liked the idea of that. It meant they could get something to do at any time, always keeping their minds sharp. Today they walked in to find the Sargeant standing on a low stool, looking over all the boys that gathered together. He waited until they had all gathered before he began, his assistant shouting out a loud 'ATTENTION' to announce the beginning of the proceedings.

"We have a special task for all of you today. Bewarned, if you are caught, we will not no of any knowledge of your mission. Boys, tonight at midnight, you will crossover this fence and go into the girl's school. There you will each have a target. Ask cadet James for your target. You are to steal something personal of your target and return it hear without being caught. Those that succeed will receive a special reward. Those that fail, will be kicked out. And do not, I repeat, do not steal any underwear! This is a recon mission, not a scavenger hunt! Now go!"

There was a near roar of excitement from the boys as they all raced to get their targets. Each one was handed a photo and a map of the girl's school with the location of their target. Bastion waited for a moments before he was able to receive his target.

"You got a special one!" cadet James laughed as he handed him the photo and map.

Bastion knew it, it had to: be Laura. He wished he could get someone else, but this was his target and he would not fail his mission. Deven however seemed delighted with his target.
