Ghosts and Supernatural Martial Arts

Yes and Yes. Exalted counts ghosts as spirits, so they need Essence 5 IIRC to learn Celestial Martial Arts. Recent Errata lets them keep the Martial Arts Charms they learned in life.

Thank you. This should make my planned Quest to the Underworld for the third part of my campaign a lot mor challenging.

BTW: Why has the "THE EMISSARY OF RIGHTEOUS VICTORY" from the Underworld book abbyssal charms? Is he a special case or can all specters learn abbyssal charms?

It's certainly not a standard ghost ability. Why he can...well. Not sure. It's possible those sufficiently tied to Oblivion can...or, perhaps he's had an Abyssal version of Power Awarding Prana used on him. After all, Ghosts count as Mortals for Abyssal charms...

"Exalted counts ghosts as spirits"? Does this mean they can learn spirit charms? Excellencies etc.?

Technically, yes, because the errata says so. This is dumb and should be ignored.
Ghosts are certainly spirits, but giving them matter-of-course access to standard spirit Charms completely undermines Arcanoi.

I agree...I think it's cool to allow ghost Supernatural Martial Arts, exspecially since Mortals use them as well...but spirit charms would put them on the level of gods.

What about sorcery/necromancy?

Standard Ghosts cannot learn either Sorcery or Necromancy. Nephwracks and Spectres are another matter, and can learn Shadowlands Circle Necromancy at the least. Deathlords can learn all levels of Necromancy, and have all done so specifically.

He is probably a Heckatonkire, not a normal ghost, and so plays by different rules. Loras, the Death Sun, the Heckatonkire from the Black Treatise, has quite a few Solar Charms and wields an orichalcum grand daiklave.

This reminds me--would the ghost of an elder Sidereal be able to teach Sidereal Martial Arts, even if they cannot use the Charms themselves? I was thinking about writing up a "lost" style only taught by an once-Sidereal spectre and might as well see if the idea is canonically sound.

The only way anyone is supposed to be able to learn Sidereal styles is from a Sidereal tutor, which a ghost is not. With the exception of Solar akuma, who can learn Sidereal styles from non-Sidereal tutors.

...?????

This is something I've never heard before. Could you tell me where/when that bit of information is from?

Manual: Infernals' date=' p. 103.[/quote']
Huh. How the book puts it sounds really arbitrary. Kind of odd how I've missed this kind of jarring information for so long. o_o
