Fantasy Ghost Town

ActionPony

One Thousand Club
ActionPony submitted a new role play:

Ghost Town - If you ask anyone why the remote town Limbo is considered weird, they'll all agree: It's the ghosts.

If you were to ask any resident of the remote town of Limbo why their town was considered the weirdest in the world, they'd be confused. When asked this very question, one resident guessed that it was because Limbo was named after a children's game.
He was quickly corrected, and told that Limbo was actually named after the first circle of hell in Dante's Inferno.

Other guesses include Old Cassie's ... unique ... idea of what constitutes an apple pie, that crazy would-be prophet called...

He was quickly corrected, and told that Limbo was actually named after the first circle of hell in Dante's Inferno.

Other guesses include Old Cassie's ... unique ... idea of what constitutes an apple pie, that crazy would-be prophet called Matthew, and that Limbo actually wasn't weird at all, but all the media attention had given everybody the idea that it was weird. Which, in itself, was kind of weird.

If you were to ask people who knew of Limbo anywhere else in the world, the result would be unanimous:

It's the ghosts.

In Limbo, there are almost the same amount of ghosts as there are humans, and they are considered citizens just the same as the living. The people in Limbo are quite used to the ghostly presence in their town, but everyone else isn't. Tourists willing to brave the bad roads and often-cold temperatures (the ghosts like it cold), companies that buy the produce of Limbo's mines, and media (mostly of the tabloid kind) all show up at Limbo to see what they can see, and sometimes what they can't.

They're going to have an interesting time of it.

1. Characters are humans or ghosts. There are no other supernatural creatures in the setting.

2. No god moding.

3. No bunnying (taking control of another player's character to force the plot to go your way)

4. No Mary Sues or Gary Stus. Realistic characters only, please.

5. Be pleasant.

6. Follow forum rules.

7. Swearing is *****ed out.

8. Sexy-time stuff is fade to black.

9. Maintain some standard of good grammar.

In a small town up in the mountains somewhere, strange things happened. The boundaries between the known and the unknown, the living and the dead, and physics and the supernatural were blurred. That town, called Limbo, is where all the truly paranormal things were. Reporters, paranormal investigators, and the just plain curious came up to the town to see all the oddity that occurred there.

Rose Wyther, like most of the townsfolk, had absolutely no idea what the fuss was about.

When she headed to the Silverback hotel/ restaurant that formed the center of Limbo's community, she passed several ghosts, and didn't think any more about it. Indeed, she waved to one of them, a older woman who she knew. She wasn't at all disturbed by the ghostly innkeeper who owned the Silverback. She ordered a drink and sat down in front of the fire, pensive.

Three people at a table in the corner weren't so calm. The three, a woman with black hair and a tattoo covering her shoulder, a blonde man, and a young, dark-haired man who couldn't be much more than a teenager, were openly staring at the ghost patrons of the inn.

Rose noticed them and shrugged. They were outsiders, most likely. Considering the notepad one of them had with him and the camera equipment next to the woman, they were probably tabloid reporters. For some reason, those kinds of reporters seemed to find Limbo interesting.

[This is what the innkeeper looks like, though with more modern clothes:

Kipt flew down a dirt road on her motercycle. It took all her willpower to keep her balance as she was nearly bouncing with excitement. Her long brown hair flapped in the wind behind her and dust flew up behind her vehicle, seeming to be as excited as she was. "Today's the day, Kipt! You're finally going to Limbo! Man, I'm so excite I could hardly - Gah!" Having being lost in her endless train of thought, her motorcycle's from wheel rammed into a rock that jutted out from the path, sending Kipt flying forward face first and tumbling in dirt. "Dammiiiiiit...." She moaned as she heaved herself up and pulled her helmet off her head. She looked over at her mechanical bike, which laid on its side and had a few scratches. But for the most part, it seemed fine. Kipt stood up and dusted the dirt off her brown skin and headed over to retrieve it. She dusted it off as well. She propped it back up, strapped on her helmet, and started it back up again, relived to find it still working fine. She continued down the dirt road, eventually finding it to open up into a cement road. She beamed, realizing how close she was to limbo. Vroooooom! Her motorcycle roared, encouraged to go faster. So, she did. She zoomed down the road, but took heed into anything in the road. Then it happened. After all the years she dreamed and wished and hoped and planned, it came true. She let took it all in. The abandoned ruins of the ghost town were breathtaking. Kipt readied her camera and cruised slowly through the town, taking her time, and a couple of pictures, until she reached the center of the town where it was said to have an inn.

[Limbo is still inhabited. Not too many abandoned buildings.]

Rose got up from her chair and walked out to the entrance of the hotel. While she was stretching her legs and enjoying the fresh air, a dark-skinned girl zoomed up on a motorcycle. Rose was a bit startled, but it was her duty as daughter of the Mayor to be polite, and she was.

"Hello, Ma'm. What's your name?"

(Yes, yes. >.< I will post soon--I'm writing stuff for other RP's at the moment, as well as doing school work)

(I have been putting in my character's name wrong this whole time... I'm so so sorry. On my character sheet it says Jamie Woodlin.)

Jamie skidded to a hault, nearly flying off the same way she did a while back. "I have got to get batter at that..." She glanced sideways in response to a young lady addressing a question to her. Wow... She's pretty... Jamie awed. Her hair was pulled up in a neat bun but had some sense of a cute messiness to it. She wore a simple, yet elegant, black and white dress and black arm coverings of some sort."Oh, good evening. I'm Jamie Woolin. I, uh, I'm one of the photographers who's come to perhaps capture some paranormal activity. I'm from Wenner Media in New York."

Oh. Another one of those reporters. She wanted to tell the girl that she'd come to the wrong place, but that wouldn't be polite (it also wouldn't be remotely true, but Rose didn't know that). Also, some of them were good company, and this girl appeared to be about her age. Rose was looking forward to talking with her.

"Hi, I'm Rose Wyther. Do come inside, that's where all the comfy chairs are. There's not much to see here, but I can give you some information about the town."

"Awesome!" Jamie followed the girl inside and looked around at the interior. It was nice. Elegant compared to some of the other part of the town. She sat down at a cushioned chair. In front of it was a glass coffee table and beyond that was a chair identical to the one Jamie sat in. "Hey, um, do you think I can ask you a few questions?" Jamie asked as she began to pull her notebook from her bag.

"Of course. Ask away. And may I ask you questions about New York afterwards?"

Having grown up in Limbo, which was a rather small town, Rose was curious about the big city.

Jamie clicked her pin and prepared to write. "So, Ms. Rose. What role do you play in Limbo?"

"I'm the daughter of the mayor. Officially, I play no role, but I often end up greeting and showing around visitors to Limbo."

Jamie began writing down Rose's response. "Hm. That's a shame. Anyway, next question: have you, yourself, ever experienced paranormal activity first hand?"

[Now there's a question guaranteed to get a hilarious answer.]

"What do you mean?"

Jamie tilted her head to one side, obviously confused. "Well, Limbo has an illustrious reputation for it's paranormal activity. You're the mayor's daughter, correct? But if you haven't have any connections or experiences with the rumors, do you happen to have any information on them?"

"Yes, this place has quite the reputation. I don't know where the rumors come from."

A voice interrupted her.

"Oh, you have to be kidding the new girl."

Rose turned around. It was the woman with the tattoo from earlier, who'd walked nearby and overheard. She told Jamie: "After spending a day here, I can tell you on great authority- they're all true."

Joey saw the girl on motorbike ride in with stupendous speed, course she didn't see him in his whisp form. The crash was hilarious and the orb could be heard giggling with hysteria at the girls' fault. When she left he followed, thinking that she might be fun, and if she wasn't then pranking her would be. When he entered the tavern he transformed to his ghost form, waving at the ghostly owner and walking over beside the chair the girl was in. Jamie eh, hehe I bet she wants to see what a ghost can do. His devious smile couldn't be seen, for he was shorter then the tall armchair, but his small giggling could be heard throughout the pub. When the tattooed girl came he stopped though, for she seemed the type to really pursue the ghost as animals, not spirits. (@ActionPony @Battleworn )

Jamie's face lit up and she stood up from her seat. "Really!? Have come into contact with any? Is there an area in Limbo where the activity is reported the most? Can you describe one that you've seen before? Would consider the ghosts demons, angels, or lingering spirits?" She asked excitedly, her hand dying to jot down the woman's answers. Suddenly, a cold breeze flew past her arm and made the hairs on her neck stand on end. She quickly shook the feeling and payed heed to the lady again but not ridding her mind of the weird feeling.

Rose was a bit overwhelmed. "Come into contact with what? Um, ghosts are lingering spirits."

She then glared at something behind Jamie's chair and said: "Joey, please show yourself. I think you're freaking her out."
