zane_sig_zpsugf0uroh.png

Name: Zane Northland

Age: 22

Personality:

Witty, clever and a bit of a smartass. Zane's a friendly lad, but he quite likes to hear himself talk and also likes to be the center of attention. He's also not very fond of being corrected. However, despite his sizeable ego, he is still very easygoing and compatible with most types of people, as he's very unlikely to hold grudges or stay mad for very long. He also hates being alone too much and needs people around him.

He's also very energetic, surprisingly patient, very positive and slightly restless. He might complain a little for the fun of it, but real, bitter negativity does not really get a chance with him.

He's fond of kids and can imagine himself working with them at some point.

Sadly, he's also very forgetful and shamefully messy. His room looks like something has exploded and he keeps finding things back in the oddest of places.

Background:

Zane grew up in Australia, but his family migrated when he was about twelve, to England, where his parents started a farm. He obviously missed his country at first, but being so easygoing, he blended right in and made new friends pretty quickly. However, the first few months in the new country really exaggerated his dislike of being alone, because he did kind of feel like a complete stranger at first.

Zane really got into horseriding and at some point even has his own horse, Shorty, a haflinger gelding. His sister Cathy has one as well, a Shetland pony.

He moved out for his first study at the age of nineteen and really had to adjust to life without animals around him, even though the citylife did turn out to really suit him. Shorty came along with him and is stabled on a barn right on the edge of town.

Extra:

- Zane is very fond of sports, ballsports and horseriding in particular, but he can really enjoy hiking as well

- He works in a restaurant

- He's been living in this apartment for a year and a half now

- He's very much an outdoor person

Name: Ivey Michaels

Age: 24

Personality:

- Down to earth

Ivey generally believes only in what she sees and in what one can explain. If there's no evidence for something, she probably won't be open minded enough to put any faith in it and she cares little for guessing and speculating.

She also doesn't worry very easily, only if shit is really hitting the fan. As a result of this, she's not always as sensitive about other people's problems as she could be, especially when it's something she'd experience as rather trivial.

- Social

Ivey is quite spontaneous, witty and knows how to take a joke. She likes to play them on others as well, sadly going a little too far every now and then.

- Impatient

Ivey has very little patience and is bored rather quicly. Her attention span is a very short one, more like an attention dot and once the topic of conversation is something she either does not understand (she's not exactly a rocketscientist) or does not care about, she is quick to lose interest, instead of trying to get to understand it.

- Reckless

The good news would be that Ivey has guts. The bad news that she has usually dived into something headfirst before you can say 'don't'.

- Competitive

Ivey is usually in for a challenge and when she accepts one, she'll do all she can to win. She's also not a great loser.

- Destructive

Fire, fireworks.. she loves it. The louder the bang or the better it burns, the more she'll love it.

Background:

Ivey hasn't lived here her entire life. She was born and raised in a small village in Canada, where her parents still live. She had quite a normal childhood.

She moved away to study at the age of eightteen, but after having quit a 'hotel management' study in the second year (the study was not a choice she had put her heart and soul in and also not really what she had expected) she got a job in a bar and she still works there.

Over the years Ivey has developed a nice, solid group of friends, that she still hangs out with quite frequently.

Extra:

- Ivey is a smoker, though not nearly as much as she used to

- She enjoys sports (particularly kickboxing, fitness, basketball and skateboarding)

- Likes gaming as well, even though she sticks mostly to things one can play at parties. No Dear Esther or Gone Home for Ivey.

- She also likes going out from time to time

– She dislikes reading with a passion.

(Oh that's okay, I actually prefer it that way over rushing things ^^

But I think we can start, no? Maybe they have just set up camp or something?)

Zane

He was done quicker than he'd expected to be. His tent wasn't as neat as it could be, but also not as messy as Ivey's - who had just wandered off for a smoke - so there was that. It was a good thing the weather was this good, too. He had once put up a tent in the pouring rain and it was definitely not something he would recommend. At all.

He stretched comfortably. The sun felt nice and warm in his neck. He used to have his hair around shoulderlength back when he was younger, but for the past few years he'd kept it very short and on days like these he really appreciated that. Less so in the winter, but he was stylish enough to pull off beanies.

He then sat down in front of his tent and looked at the other two.

"Let's hope Ivey does not start any forest fires," he said dryly.

Ivey

"Heard that," the dark-haired girl said laconically, emerging from the trees. A few strands of hair had escaped from the bun and together with the rolled up sleeves, it made her look a little messy. That was alright. You didn't dress like you were going to a pageant in an environment like this, did you?

She overlooked the group and grinned. She knew for a fact her tent would not collapse, but boy did it look gravity defying. Sometimes she kind of felt like trying to put it up a little more neatly, but then she remembered she was just too lazy and indifferent for that sort of thing. She plopped down beside Zane and opened her backpack, taking out a bottle of water. She took a few sips and looked around. They had found somewhat of a clearing, and their spot was surrounded by a thick forest. The sea was nearby, but you wouldn't say so; the trees were so close to one another that the strong seawinds were hardly felt and if the water could have been heard up here, the sounds of the forest would definitely have drowned it out. No pun intended.

Alexander

Alex sighed relief when he had finished putting up the tent, his looking rather sturdy to make sure it wouldn't fall on him while he slept. Now that wouldnt be to good would it? Or atleast he didn't think it was. "Oh god." He chuckled softly at the word forest fire and Ivey, knowing his friends all to well and their tatics. "That would be rather fun wouldn't it now?" The male grinned, walking over to the forest and dragging over a few logs for them to sit on when they had a fire. He had also thrown a few rocks into a circle and put wood in it for when they were ready. Once finished collapsed onto one of the logs and stretched out, his dark bangs falling into his eyes as the sun warmed his cooled body.

Ashley

Ashley only smiled a littleat the others words, shaking her head and causing her hair to fall over her shoulders. Most people wondered why she was so quiet all the time, not understanding the reason she didn't want to speak. Her Russian accent was thick and fully noticeable, and it made her uncomfortable. Her friends spoke normal English, but since her English had Russian to it, she prefer ed not to speak aloud alot. Only sometimes. Maybe. Though Ash didn't speak to much, she spike around Ivey alot. She felt open to the girl, but was scared to speak around the males since they didn't know her like Ivey had. Ashley Ran a hand through her hair and let the sun hit her skin, warming her with a soft smile.

Ivey

Her eyes went over the wood in the stone circle.

"I take it I am not allowed to add anything to this," she stated with a grin. Now, even she wasn't stupid enough to throw things into a fire in the middle of the woods, but hey, she did have a reputation to keep up. She leant back a little and breathed out. She looked over to Ash. As much as she respected the girl's decision to not speak too much around the lads, she still didn't quite get it. It had probably something to do with her own complete and utter lack of shame, but she saw no real reason to be ashamed of an accent. Hell, if someone made fun of hers she'd probably either laugh along or just offer the person a punch in the face if she needed them to be quiet. Ivey was not one for complex solutions. If violence worked then violence would be used.

Zane

He chuckled. He had once witnessed a drunk Ivey pour pure vodka into a fire. That had been quite spectacular, he had to give her that. He looked over to Alex.

"I'd say we do the cooking," he said with a grin. "And I'd also say we ward off Ivey with a cattle prod if necessary."

The girl snorted but didn't reply. She seemed right about to doze off. Now that he was sitting, Zane now realized the hiking and putting up the tents had kind of worn him out as well. It was a good thing their first hike would be tomorrow morning.

Even if he had not been tired; it was probably too late to go for a proper walk now anyway. This wasn't the kind of forest Zane would want to stumble around in after dark. Not with all the hills and such. Breaking his neck was not very high on his list of priorities.

Alexander

Alex laughed and nodded his head. "Yea. Let's put it this way. Cooking is up to Zane. He's the girliest man I know." He was only teasing, and it was just the kind of personality that he had. His arms flexed as they went behind his head, looking up at the night sky. "Feels good to get away from the city lights and smell. God does it smell like crap there." The male shook his head and sat up, running a hand through his hair. He grabbed some matches, lighting the sticks and watching as the fire erupted up into nice warm flames. He sat up and grabbed his back pack, digging through it and pulling out some marshmallows, stuffing them in his face since he enjoyed them so well.

Ashley

Ashley frowned and immediately grabbed the bag from Alexander before he could eat them all, shaking her head. "Give me those you hog." She grinned, the male nudging her playfully in response. She smiled and grabbed the sticks, shoving a marshmallow into his hand along with a stick before grabbing her own. Once she had her mash mallow on she tossed the bag to Zane, saying a soft yet brief catch. Alex had already roasted His marshmallow, his face already covered in the goo. Ashley shook her head and sat on the log next to the others.

Ivey

She laughed.

"Well he does ride horses, so I can see where you're coming from," she said, flashing Zane a grin. He just rolled his eyes.

"I invite the lot of you to come deal with our stallion sometime," he just said casually. Ivey looked on as he took the bag of marshmallows from Ash and after he was done he handed them to Ivey.

"I'm sure you're ponies are terrifying," she said laconically and she put a marshmallow on her stick. She put the bag beside her and held the stick above the fire.

Zane

He just grinned. These people got away with such jokes. He had quite an ego, but he didn't take this personally. A joke was a joke. He took a small bite from his marshmallow. It had a few dark spots on it, but the taste was more then fine.

In the distance the vague sound of a sort of bell could be heard. He looked up. Probably ships that passed by. The water was deep enough around here, as far as he knew.

He ate the rest of the marshmallow. The sound repeated.

"Well that's kind of rude," Ivey commented dryly.

"You're one to talk. You have the manners of a sailor," Zane responded.

Alexander

Alex laughed at the words and shook his head as he snuck another marshmallow from the bag. He shoved about two of t hem onto his stick and roasted them as he heard the bell and cocked a brow. "Too Bad were really close to the sea. It's gonna be really hard to sleep woth a dinging in our heads all night long." The male said as he nibbled on his marshmallow. He saw a distant glowing light, but didn't comment in it until someone else had seen it too. He frowned and shook his head before continuing to eat his marshmallows.

AshLey

Ashley frowned at the dinging noise and couldn't help but see the light as well. "What... is that?" The girl asked as she walked toward the tree line, looking at the light a s she leaned against the tree. She carefully squinted her eyes and tried to look out that far, but the light seemed to be blocking the shape of the object as it glowed, getting brighter than lowering and then brighter again.

She looked up, but didn't move.

"I don't know, probably just some ship passing by?" she said, She wasn't too impressed and mostly shared Alex' sentiment. It better not be going on all night. Then again, it was only early in the evening or so, so there was still hope.

She stuck another marshmallow to her stick and held it above the fire.

"Hey, how about this," she said, when the sound could be heard again. "We'll have a look tomorrow, okay?"

Zane

He nodded.

"It's going to be dark too soon to investigate it now anyway," he said, with a hint of disappointment in his voice. He too had gotten up and he walked over to Ash, standing next to her to see what she was seeing. It did look a bit odd.

"It's kinda like those lighthouses, but different," he said. "But there's no docks anywhere near here, from what I recall."

He couldn't deny the excitement he felt. This sounded like proper adventure. It probably wasn't and it was probably just a ship on it's way to the harbour, but still. A boy could dream.

Alex

Alexander studied the girl who had stayed in the original circle with himself. "Probably just a ship with a bright light to scare off people from the shore line. Nothing to big to worry about." The male said as he nibbled on another marshmallowmallow. "Besides. Who knows if we'll be able to find it? Shore isn't or to us and it will just end up getting us lost and not knowing where were going and the directions we were going." He said, not feeling like hiking for once in his young life. He yawned quietly and stood, stretching and letting his muscles pop in agreement with him.

Ash

Ashley studied the light as Zane came over to join her. "I don't care what others say." She said, her accent strong and fairly Noticias to the other even with her voice soft and in a hushed whisper. "That's brighter than a normal light would dream." She muttered softly, glancing over at Zane. It wasn't a fairly normal ship light, it was almost blinding, as bright as the sun as some would want to say. "I guess we should wait till tomorrow. It'll give us some time to rest and try to guess what that.. 'thing' is." She muttered with a grunt and stretching As she went to join the others, expecting Zane to follow.

Ivey

"Oh, you worry too much," she said with a shrug. "We have a map of the area and a compass that Zane seems to be able to work with. We'll be fine."

She doubted it was very hard to get lost. For the shore all they had to do was walk down and East, and back to the camp was the other way around. Or at least she thought it was that simple. Probably was.

She looked at Zane and Ash for a moment, but then back at the fire.

Zane

He wasn't sure he shared her sentiment that the light had to be something weird, but he was certainly curious. He nodded.

"Yeah, tomorrow we'll find out," he agreed. He followed her back to the others. He yawned.

"I'd say we go to bed early. That way we can get up early tomorrow," he said, ignoring the look Ivey gave him. He'd wake her up with a bucket of seawater if he had to.

Alex

He chuckles softly, a hand running through his hair. "Meh. It's my job to worry most of the time. It always happens." He said with a soft laugh. Alex looked at the woman with a soft smile before looking back at the two who were rejoining them. "Sleep sounds fabulous right now." He said as he stood up and stretched.

Ash

she smiled a little when he had followed her back and glanced over at him when they began to speak. "Yea. Sleep." She murmured. Ashley wasn't really sure how she would do sleeping out in the woods. Hopefully it would get her more rest than she was used to. She smiled and nodded. "Well. I'll see you guys in the morning." She said, slipping into her tent.

Ivey

"Night y'all," Ivey said, as she too disappeared into her tent. She changed into something more fit for sleeping, as well as that went inside the small space of the tent, and then crawled into her sleeping bag. It was still fairly warm in the tent, so she didn't close the zipper all the way.

She yawned. The thin, inflatable bedroll below the sleeping bag didn't make much difference, but Ivey could live with that. She'd slept in worse conditions after parties. More often than not the only free space would be on somebody's floor, next to the guy who'd just puked out his guts a minutes ago, so she wasn't complaining .

Zane

He too went into his tent. Once in his sleeping bag, he listened to the sounds of the forest; some birds were still active, the wind in the trees made a calming, peaceful sound and he was glad he had come to this trip. He closed his eyes, not yet falling asleep, but still listening.

He couldn't really reel in the excitement for the next day. He had never really been on a ship before. Sure, he'd done some rowing when he was younger, but that was just different. A lot different.

He soon drifted away into a slightly restless sleep.
