Kang Haeun in Love Over Flowers is a complete anomaly outside the confines of the destiny laid out for her. In the story, she's fragile, the perfect damsel for the male lead to save. With no backbone or ability to stand up for herself against The Villainess (until later on). She hates the pitying eyes of the students, and the relentless torment she faces from men and women alike on the daily is too much too bear for the hardworking young woman. Despite this torment she pushes on due to the love of her family and their pride of her getting such an amazing scholarship, but you can only take so much before you crack.

Out of Love Over Flowers, Haeun is a force to be reckoned with. A fiery personality masks over the fragile one she's born to play. She has no issue with standing up for herself out of the story, and has no issue going against The Villainess herself. Despite the insecurity eating her from the inside, she continues to hold a tough outer shell. No matter who messes with her, she refuses too back down from a fight (as long as she doesn't lose her scholarship). She has a strong sense of pride and hates accepting help from others, even if it hurts her worse to not ask for help.

Her History

Born as an only child in a poor family, Haeun has had a lot of responsibility from a young age. Most of the cooking and cleaning was on her, her parents working long hours to try and keep up with household bills and too pay for her education. Despite this, she grew up happy and loved. Sure, she didn't get the newest toys, and she didn't have any bus fare, but she was content. She worked hard in school too keep up with other students despite being unable to attend study academy's, and ended up placing first in her school for academics by the time she was a sophomore in high school. Seeing her parents proud faces was all she needed.

Though, they were more worried about their daughter's social life. She had never once mentioned having a friend, maybe when she was in elementary school she had a playmate or two, but once she hit middle school she became an outcast. Someone nobody cared about and only saw for her academics, the only "friends" she had were those who wanted to copy off her. When the school had approached her with the idea for the scholarship she had been apprehensive. She had heard many rumors about the school, and was worried she would have a tough time, but her parents were ecstatic. They wouldn't have too worry about her tuition anymore, and bills wouldn't be as tight, and so she accepted, just hoping she could get through the next year without being noticed.

Of course it didn't happen like that. Relentless bullying, students trying too cheat off her, and now she had angered The Villainess on top of it. The bullying was chipping away at her slowly, the once strong and confident girl curling back up into her shell.

With an atmosphere colder than ice and a smile devoid of any humor, Sohee's handsome visage comes off sharper than intended. Physically, he's hard to find fault with, from his manners to his dress, as expected of the heir of U&E Foods.
has six piercings, all of them on his ears, with the last two being a helix pair on his right
a large scar on his upper left back, rarely seen
personality WITHIN
Sohee holds little else aside from resentment in his heart. It trickled in slowly, so slowly, that he doesn't know when he stopped being able to find happiness in things he once held dear.
His cruelty is subtle; outwardly, the teenager is all-smiles - clearly fake, but hard to read otherwise. Instead, his animosity is in veiled insults and jeers, in cold dismissals and lack of acknowledgement. To say he hates people is an understatement; relationships were there to be benefitted from, humans little more than a living commodity. He knows that better than anyone else.
He likes to think he'd give up all his privileges for a life unbound by obligations. But at the end of the day, he's still a fearful little boy who didn't have the confidence to strike out on his own. The word "useless" hangs like a sword over his head; Sohee's a product of his environment, a fragile exotic plant who'd die once he left the greenhouse.
On some level, he understands that his cruelty towards his fiancee is wrong. It would only benefit him to be nice while his callousness would net a zero sum. But everytime he saw how her parents showered her with love, how her only real trial was this sham of an engagement, he wanted her to feel even one drop of his misery. Still, her expression was an uncomfortable mirror of his own younger years; he sympathized and felt guilt, even as he couldn't help himself.
'Sohee' of 'Love Over Flowers' is an immature child who lashes out against a world who's treated him coldly. The Sohee beyond... understands. Maybe a long time ago, he carried more kindness in his heart. But regardless of who he once was, experiences have shaped him to carry just as much bitterness as the role he plays. Wouldn't you? If he realized all those years of abuse and suffering were just for someone's entertainment, the only path left was down.
In many ways, Sohee was even harsher than his story counterpart. He doesn't feel guilt or remorse, just simple understanding. Everytime he felt even an inkling of it, he locked it away. If his fiancee grew miserable, so what? She had loving enough parents to understand, they didn't have a knife to her throat, while 'Sohee' did. If her role was to simply take it the way he once had, then she should fulfill it.
He's the first to admit he's not a good person; he's objective enough to see things for what they are. The issue is he does nothing about it. He has no grand goals for self-improvement, no real desire to escape his circumstance. It was just quiet resignation, and a willingness to perpetuate a cycle designed to destroy others dragged into the vortex.
personality beyond
history
Kim Sohee was born the second son of the founding Kim family of U&E Foods, a conglomerate company that manufactured a variety of instant and ready-to-eat foods sold at supermarkets and convenience stores. Their success began shortly after the second world war, and today they're widely acknowledged as one of the largest companies in the country.
Sohee was never meant to be heir; his older brother had been the shining example of a firstborn son, showing how, even at a young age, he was born for greatness. Yes, he was expected to excel, but his parents were busy focusing on his hyung that it didn't matter if some things fell through the cracks with him. It was a life full of pressure, certainly, but no one could've expected the tragedy that would happen, or the misery that would follow.
It all came to a screeching halt when a drunk driver hit him and his family on their way home from a party. Their driver, his mother, and his older brother were dead on impact. His father was largely unscathed, while Sohee was in critical condition for the days following the accident. The days in the ICU were lonely, but his father was probably just busy right? He'd come visit when he'd sorted things out and he got moved to a regular ward. So when he finally woke up to see the familiar figure of his father's back, he reached out, seeking his warmth.
Yet the eyes that met his were cold, and worse, accusatory. As if he, a mere child, was to blame for surviving when his mother and brother couldn't. Sorrow too deep to weep for emptied him, damming the tears meant for his family. The quiet funeral did little to let them mourn, the gap between them opening wider.
The fifth time his father said he was nothing compared to his brother, the gap became a bottomless trench they had no hope of coming back from. At first he'd tried - he wasn't as smart, as gifted, but he did his best. And yet Sohee's efforts were met with nothing more than a nod and even higher expectations. But it was worse when he failed. At least success meant silence. Failure was a constant barrage of comparisons, as if a living human could compare to a rose-tinted ghost.
That was when Yoona came into his life, a gorgeous woman who first introduced herself as his father's girlfriend. Though wistful pangs echoed in his heart for his mother, he thought that maybe she would help them both move on. As she held him in his arms, praising his work and holding him like his mother once did, he dreamed. Maybe some softness would return to their family, If he and his father couldn't reconcile, then maybe this woman could serve as a buffer to shield them from the worst of each other.
It was after they married he realized it was all a lie. Just one too many drinks and the truth spilled out from her own pretty lips.
You're fucking useless! White wine sloshed as her wine glass tipped dangerously towards Sohee. I thought you were his favorite considering how everyone praises you, turns out he can't fucking stand you. She was hoping she could just use the kid, currying favor with the in-laws through him. better off just having my own instead of a failure from the get go.
Fortunately for them both, his father had had a vasectomy years prior. His stepmother didn't remember that fateful night, and Sohee chose not to let her know. The wounds, however, festered. Like an infection, they corroded any innocence that was left and turned it into a cynical disdain for the softness of affection. By the time he was introduced to his future partner, that was all he could offer her.

"A moment is never too short to live fully, nor too long to forget how precious it is."

distinguishing features:
a warm smile that seems to glow without effort ;; honey brown eyes that betray her true emotions regardless of how she might try to conceal them ;; extra pale skin from her illness

tattoos:
none...yet--

style:
Aera’s sense of style is the perfect fusion of classic elegance and modern flair. Her wardrobe is a curated blend of timeless pieces and fashion-forward trends, yet she remains true to her own unique aesthetic. While her closet boasts a collection of high-end designer labels, Aera is known for her ability to create something truly distinctive by wearing her own designs. She approaches fashion not just as a means of adornment, but as a form of self-expression, weaving together graceful femininity with bold, contemporary touches.

Her signature looks often feature a blend of soft, flowing skirts and structured blouses, or delicate dresses paired with unexpected, edgier elements. She has a knack for mixing textures and playing with patterns in ways that might seem unconventional to others and yet always seems to work. Whether it’s pairing a floral blouse with a sleek leather skirt or combining a classic plaid jacket with a soft satin slip dress, Aera is a master at finding harmony in the most surprising combinations; her outfits always feel cohesive, no matter how intricate the mix of patterns or materials. True style lies in the details: whether it's a perfectly placed vintage brooch, a pair of statement shoes, or a subtle splash of vibrant color in an otherwise neutral ensemble. Aera’s style isn’t just about looking good; it’s about making a statement that’s both refined and individualistic—an effortless blend of the classic and trendy.
persona & attributes
personality:
In 'Love Over Flowers', Aera’s personality shows her inner strength and grace reflected in her soft-spoken, demure nature coupled with her resilience and determination. She carries herself with a refined elegance, maintaining poise in all situations no matter how challenging or emotionally taxing they may be. Her mannerisms are impeccable, learned through years of being groomed as the heir to the prestigious Jeong family legacy; she speaks with measured words and moves with a polish that commands respect without needing to assert herself.

Aera's ability to maintain a warm countenance despite the harshness of her fiancé displays her strong emotional strength. While others may falter under such coldness and possibly become cold themselves, Aera doesn't allow it to dampen her spirit. She embodies the notion of grace under pressure, holding steadfast to her belief in kindness and compassion even when faced with indifference or cruelty-- the world is cold enough to not be someone of warmth. Her desire to serve others and not harbor grudges shows just how mature and selfless the Jeong family heir is-- it comes from a genuine place of wanting to improve the lives around her no matter their heritage. She would, and often does, go out of her way to help someone in need, despite her own struggles. This selflessness extends beyond just her family’s reputation; she believes in contributing to society as a whole, ensuring that her actions bring prosperity and positivity to those who are fortunate enough to be in her orbit.

Her focus is often on her family’s legacy and the prosperity of the Jeong family and she approaches her responsibilities with strong will and determination. As the only child and heir apparent, Aera feels a weight of expectation, but rather than being burdened by it, she sees it as a calling to bring honor to her family and to continue building upon their success. This sense of duty gives her a sense of purpose and direction in life despite her parents insistence that she take things easy given her condition. Aera does not let her health define her but she does hold back on many opportunities and experiences in order to allay their fears. They simply love their daughter and no one can fault them for having such protective tendencies.

Aera is not only a product of her upbringing; she is someone who has learned to navigate her world with an unwavering dedication to her family's ideals and to the principles of propriety. Her quiet strength, though often unnoticed by others, is the very foundation that allows her to excel in her role as both an heiress and a person of status, making her the epitome of what it means to be a "proper society girl."

Beyond the pages of the script however, there is a much deeper layer of Aera's personality...a fascinating contrast to the more traditional, composed figure she presents in public. Despite her role as the perfect, dutiful heiress, Aera harbors a quiet dissatisfaction with the rigid constraints placed on her life regarding her health. The weakness of her heart serves as a catalyst for her desire to break free from the stifling boundaries of her prescribed existence. Aware of her fragility, she is more acutely aware of the fleeting nature of life, driving her to crave experiences and thrills beyond the meticulously curated, sterile encounters that her position as heir demands. Aera’s newfound risk-taking isn't born out of recklessness or rebellion but from a profound recognition of the limited time she may have.

Her yearning for a more vibrant life does not undermine her innate sense of caution and calculation-- she does not shirk her responsibilities or image but rather allows herself to loosen the tightly held reins. Aera loves to have fun and seeks these moments of reprieve from the schooling, the studies, and doctor's visits. Her love for her family remains central to all that she is and she is careful not to stray too far from her path. She still wants to bring them pride but she also now seeks to honor herself.

Life is too short to simply remain on the side.

"A legacy isn’t built on what you inherit, but on what you choose to carry forward."

"Sometimes, the most courageous thing we can do is to keep going when everything around us says we shouldn’t."

history:
From the very beginning, Aera's life was shaped by the unwavering love and constant attention of her parents. Despite their immense influence and demanding careers, her mother, Hyo-sonn, and her father, Jeong Min-seok, always made her a priority. The world around her was one of luxury, but it was also one filled with deep emotional connection. Her childhood, far from the cold, isolated existence one might expect from the heir of a powerful tech empire, was rich in both intellectual stimulation and personal care.

Her father, Min-seok, though intensely focused on building the success of SeongTech Industries, always carved out time for his daughter. No matter how busy his schedule was, he made sure to sit with Aera every day, whether after school or in the evenings, discussing everything from the latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence to the classical music compositions she adored. To Aera, Min-seok was not just the formidable CEO of a billion-dollar company but also a deeply present father—one who wanted to know about her thoughts, her dreams, and her innermost reflections. Their quiet, private conversations often took place during long evening walks through the family estate’s garden, where he would ask about her day, listen attentively to her observations, and share his own insights into life and success. Even when work took him away from home, he found solace in the thought of returning to a warm home, where Aera’s laughter and the anticipation of her bright smile made the long days of travel worthwhile.

Hyo-sonn, Aera’s mother, added a layer of cultural and emotional richness to her upbringing. Hyo-sonn was more than just a celebrated socialite or cultural attaché—she was deeply invested in Aera’s personal growth. Despite her high-profile diplomatic career, Hyo-sonn made sure to stay closely involved in Aera's life. There was no sense of distance between them; rather, Hyo-sonn was a hands-on mother who prioritized her daughter’s well-being above all else. Whether it was taking Aera to art exhibitions, engaging in deep discussions about the latest literary works, or reading to her before bed, Hyo-sonn infused Aera’s life with a love for beauty, intellect, and self-reflection. She was committed to ensuring that Aera felt valued as an individual—not just as the heir to the Jeong family name, but as someone with her own thoughts, feelings, and aspirations.

However, life would change dramatically when Aera was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart condition. Her doctors were cautious but hopeful, continually monitoring her health and restricting her activities to prevent further strain. The weight of the diagnosis was not lost on Aera or her parents. Though she did her best to maintain her usual lively spirit, the reality of her condition began to take its toll.

At first, Aera refused to let the diagnosis define her. She continued to attend school and participate in her family’s social affairs, but as the weeks turned to months, her condition steadily worsened. Slowly, the vibrant, energetic girl who had once filled their home with laughter began to fade. The once-colorful world around her seemed to dull and the sterile white walls of the hospital became a familiar, uninvited backdrop to her life.

Aera’s schooling, once filled with the excitement of new ideas and discoveries, was now often confined to the sterile, monotonous space of her hospital room. The lessons, once given in person, were now sometimes conducted via video calls and virtual lessons. The girl who had once reveled in art exhibitions and intellectual discussions now found herself spending countless days alone, gazing out of a window at a world she could no longer fully participate in.

Her parents, despite their own heartbreak, did everything they could to enrich Aera’s life. They brought her books, played her favorite music, and sought out new artists to inspire her. Still, no amount of luxury or intellectual stimulation could fill the growing emptiness she felt as her physical limitations grew more severe. Her condition became a constant, looming reminder of the fragility of life…but also lent her the strength to find the zest in living once more.

Despite her health struggles, Aera found new ways to engage with the world she had once taken for granted. She sought out intellectual pursuits that could be done from her bed—books, music, and art that helped her stay connected to the world outside. And as her physical limitations began to define much of her life, she discovered a deep resolve to live with purpose, knowing that her time was limited; she didn’t want her legacy to be defined by what she couldn’t do, but rather by what she had achieved in the face of it all. Aera realized that while the world around her may have changed, she still had the power to define the course of her life—not by how much time she had, but by how deeply she chose to live it.

    MISCELLANEOUS
Blessed with looks that instantly captivate those who behold him, it was no wonder how Yu-jun instantly earned both the admiration and jealousy of his peers. Any female student would instantly melt from the piercing gaze of his olive green eyes, and his confident and reassuring smile never fails to reel them in hook, line and sinker. His lithe build comes as a result of a rigorous workout program he's had since he was young, not solely for crafting the ideal image, but also for fortifying his otherwise fragile constitution.
    PERSONALITY
When you're at the very top, plenty would claim that they know you. But all they know is the mask that I permit them to see every single day, oblivious to the person that lies behind it.
Yu-jun in 'Love Over Flowers' can aptly be described as a spoiled brat who thinks the world revolves around him. He is well aware of the influence and power his prestigious family name commands and uses it along with the extensive connections his parents had cultivated over the years to get whatever he wants. To him, everyone and everything has a price and resolving conflicts involves either throwing money at the problem or throwing around the weight of the Lee name to threaten it and make it disappear.

Still, a lingering sense of emptiness has started to take root in Yu-jun's heart as he feels diminishing satisfaction in his privileged lifestyle. Thus, he seeks stimulation in his daily life by reveling in the adoration and affection of his peers, despite being aware of their superficial and hollow nature. Moreover, he enjoys peeling away the façade they present him and unearthing their true intentions so that he can ultimately "grant" their wishes in exchange for making them feel grateful and indebted. After all, blind praise carries less weight than sincere gratitude.

Ultimately, Yu-jun values anyone or anything that piques his interest, perhaps as a means of supplementing his otherwise monotonous and bland life. He is willing to bend the rules, show leniency, and even use his influence to ensure that he gets the most entertainment from anyone that captures his attention. Lately he has set his sights on a certain student, a lioness in a sea of sheep who dared bare her fangs against him. He feels an unusual attraction to her, like a moth drawn to her fiery defiance and he's intrigued whether she can keep her burning passion or if she falls in like the rest.

Outside of 'Love Over Flowers' Yu-jun is an industrious and diligent individual completely aware of the burden of his family name. He understands how fortunate he is to be born into wealth and power and he refuses to take any of that for granted. There is an overwhelming need for him to prove he is worthy to carry on the Lee name and make his parents proud. Using that as motivation, he spares no effort in ensuring he's on top of everything expected of him, whether it's academics, maintaining connections, and keeping up appearances.

Compared to his story counterpart, he is more self-aware of his actions and would not dare to do anything that would tarnish his family's reputation. He is also more understanding and empathetic of others, displaying genuine concern for their feelings and always ready to lend a helping hand whenever he can. He also displays sincerity in getting to know others and establishing connections both as a means of fostering friendships and planting potential partnerships in the future.

He feels a healthy amount of admiration for the girl he couldn't get out of his head lately both for her fiery passion as well as her resilience in the face of hardship. While he would not dare drawing direct comparisons regarding their situations, he feels a kindred bond with her determination to make her family proud and rise above the expectations placed on her.
