Callum nodded his head slowly as he kept up his slow tracing of her back. "I guess you and I had pretty similar beginnings. Kind of hard to think that you and I were getting the same treatment at the same time. Part of me just wonders what would've happened to me if my parents true parents had actually kept me. Although, I'm sure it would've been worse - considering I've got the best woman in all of Trulane."

Em chuckled, then reached out to his hand that wasn't on her back and guided it to her head - she clearly wanted petting or playing with her hair. "Yeah, wouldn't be here without the bad stuff too. Hey, Cal...? Last time we were there, Gallium mentioned something. It made me think.... Do you know who your blood parents were? Do you remember where he adopted you from?"

"I'm not sure." Callum said quietly and twirled locks of Emmalia's hair with his other hand, somewhat lost in thought at the question. "Gallium never told me, and I never persistently asked. I assumed my life was better since he made me a noble, but now that I'm older I find myself wishing I knew."

"Oh. Maybe it's not too late to find out somehow. Find a mage that could help. They'd have to be really powerful, but we could make it happen, I suppose. If it makes you happy, of course." Her body relaxed under his pets. Em loved that about him, how he could just relax her and she never was tense around him.

"Yeah, that would be nice." He said, but paused before continuing. "Actually, I'm not sure. I'm afraid of what I'll find. What if I come across things that should never be dug up in the past?" Callum felt rather uneasy, unsure if he'd get closure about the situation or not. "My parents could be dead, or ghouls, or prisoners, or..." His mind raced as his playing with Emmalia's hair got more tense. Not enough to hurt, of course.

Em could hear the tone shift in his voice and feel it in his movements. That wasnt her calm, relaxed Callum talking. He sounded genuinely upset. She opened her eyes and sat up to gently kiss his lips, then said, "Love, I won't push you, because you are who you are no matter what you find. But if you are curious, we can see what we find."

Callum looked Emmalia in the eye, considering if it'd be worth exploring. After a quiet moment, he nodded his head slowly. "I guess we can always just... stop looking if we find something that isn't good. But... I don't even know where to start. Could a mage tell me my surname? Or the location of my parents?"

Em had to pause and think for a few moments. "I think a mage can tell you your surname if they're good, or maybe the name of wherever you're from. It's not much, but it is something at least."

Callum nodded his head slowly. "Thank you, Emmalia. This means a lot to me." Callum leaned in slowly and gave her a drawn out kiss before resting his head on the back of the seat. "This whole thing is making my head spin."

Em leaned forward so her head was under his chin and her chest lightly rested against his. "Sorry, I didn't mean to bring up anything bad. I was just curious and all."

"It's fine, don't worry about it." Callum said and brought back his normal tone, even if it was slightly forced. "I'm sure closure will make it all worth it." He said, holding her tight against his chest.

Em hugged him and said almost naively, "Well I'm here too. No matter what the outcome, I'll take care of you and love you still." It was true, though, that she fully intended to go with him through whatever trial this might be.

What Emmalia had said brought a genuine smile to Callum's lips. His biggest fear was ending up alone - And Emmalia had dually ensured he would never end up that way. He would be there for her, and she would be there for him. "I love you so much, Emmalia."

"I love you too, Callum." Em smiled and kissed him softly. "Please, don't worry about what we may discover. It won't change who you are, and it won't change how I view you. For now, let's focus on the fair and each other. Okay?"

Callum nodded his head slowly and looked into her eyes. "You're right. Let's focus on the fair." He brought a smile up and kissed her cheek. "So, did you go to this fair a lot as a child?"

She immediately went with the subject change, distracted by the prospect of the fair. "Not when I was really young, but yeah, once I was like thirteen I started breaking away from my parents. Actually this fair got me started on my road, I bought my silver plated sword there and most of my armor. It's so fun, Cal." She smiled and rested against him again, her chest on his and her head against his shoulder. Despite having slept recently, Em closed her eyes as she relaxed against him.

Callum smiled and held her close. "It sounds like a lot of fun. I hope it'll be just as amazing as you've described it - I'm sure it will be." He spoke quietly to Emmalia, unknowing if she was actually tired or not. In case she was, he made sure not to speak too loud.

Em smiled and moved her arms up around his neck, then settled down again. "I like your voice. It's really nice to listen to. Sometimes it's low and gravelly and rough, sometimes it's warm too, other times it's more soft and light. I like it." The way she spoke was reminiscent of someone staring at the stars, practically day dreaming and not entirely there.

"Well thank you, I admire your voice as well." Callum smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist. "You're voice is melodic enough to tame demons my love."

"A violin?" Callum asked with a raised eyebrow. "I suppose that doesn't seem too bad. I'd greatly enjoy to hear you play it back home."

"Yeah, well, one time you said I could have one since we were travelling together. I want to be able to play again." She nuzzled against his neck lovingly.

"I only need one - unless I buy one to keep at the castle and one if we want to bring it with when we travel. I want one that's pretty as well as functional - but sturdy, very sturdy. Then we can travel with it - if it's okay by you." Em opened her eyes to look cutely up at him.

"Alright, so we can get a sturdy one for the road, and an elegant one for the castle." Callum decided with a smile, giving her a quick kiss on her cheek.
