Callum nodded slowly as he stood and began to get dressed in his usual outfit for the day. He turned back to face Emmalia and gave her a gentle but long kiss. "Would you like anything to be prepared while you're away?"

"Like what? Rabbit stew?" She joked. "No, I'm probably going to go glut myself, come back, and pass out." Such was the cycle of a vampire once their eating schedule what skewed. Slowly and methodically, she put on her armor and weapons. No matter how many times she did this, leaving him to eat, she felt awkward.

Callum held her wrist gently, and suddenly asked, "Em, what if I became a vampire?" He wasn't sure what came over him, but he felt as though it was important. "Think of it, it bypasses all of the problems we'd face. I won't be as vulnerable, we live together forever. It's a win win situation Em."

Emmalia could only stare at Callum in shock. When she got her thoughts together enough, she sat down on the bed, still with her mouth open. "Gods, Cal, no...." She shook her head. "You being immortal like me, nothing I want more, but vampirism is called a curse for a reason. You don't understand... if I turned you, there's a very good chance you would go feral. And if you do, you would lose your very humanity, your soul. With each human killed for food, darkness sets in until eventually that's all there is. In fact, I'm not even sure I would go to heaven when I die - possibly hell just because of my vampirism, I don't know." She met out a shaky sigh. "Cal, I can't condone vampirism as a way to gain immortality."

Callum listened to her argument carefully, and took a moment to respond. "Look, I want to be with you Emmalia, for as long as I can. I'll risk going to hell a thousand times over as long as, in the end, I'm with you." He felt rather sappy, but it was true. He'd rather burn in hell with her for eternity than live like a king. "Em, just think about it. I beg you."

Emmalia looked him in the eyes for a few moments, then looked away. "It's such a curse, Cal... those first few months, when the light burns and you know you're hated and if your glamor charm falls off you're a beast to be burned at the stake and... when you get so hungry that.... you start hearing the voice in your head, the voice of instinct, reasoning why it's okay to kill someone for food, I-I...." She closed her eyes and sighed heavily. In a small voice she said, "I'll consider it, I guess....'

Callum pulled her into a hug, kissing the top of her head. "Thank you." He said quietly. He kept her close to him for a moment before saying, "I'm willing to go through anything to be with you, Em. Now, go get some food. I'll meet you in the courtyard when you get back?" He suggested.

Emmalia didn't respond, just nodded slightly. She had such mixed feelings about this. Yes she desperately wanted him to stay with her forever, but to kill him for it? Then again, was vampirism so bad? But if something went wrong, he would lose his humanity and she would have to kill him and that was worse than anything. Before leaving, she kissed his cheek, then walked away, out to the forest near the castle so she could hunt.

Callum had watched intently as she left, not wanting her to go, even if it was only for a few hours. He spent the time going through old memories of his childhood by visiting spots and places he would spend his time - trees he would climb when he was bored, castle walls he would scale, and the ocassional alcove he'd hide in when his father was mad at him. Callum had mostly fond memories as a child, but it still haunted him that the man who raised him was in a prison cell without even the decency of sunlight, and would remain there until he rotted away for good. Callum eventually ended his tour with a relaxing book in the courtyard, sitting idly on a bench as the sun loomed overhead.

Emmalia's hunt was boring and normal. She drained a rabbit and a squirrel and was on her un-merry way, thinking about what he had said earlier. Immortality for Cal - but the thought hurt her. When she got to Cal in the courtyard, she snuck up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. "Hello, love," she said quietly, and with a touch less enthusiasm than earlier.

Callum was surprised by the sudden hold, to say the least, as he was expecting her to enter through the courtyard gate in front of him. he had been so surprised that, in his confusion, his reflexes made him jolt forward and push Emmalia away with a rather loud yelp. When he realized it was her, he gave out a large sigh of relief. "Oh, gods Em... I'm so sorry, but don't scare me like that."

Emmalia stumbled back a bit and looked at him for a few seconds, then slowly smiled. "No, don't be sorry, it's my fault. I forgot myself for a moment." She walked up and leaned in to kiss his cheek, then quietly said, "Your yelping was adorable, my dear." As she looked at him, she cocked her head to the side. "I understand being jumpy in our lifestyle, but if I may, was there a specific reason to be jumpy? Did something happen while I was gone, I mean?"

Callum enjoyed the kiss, but not the comment about his shriek. He had never been good with reflexes and always seemed rather jumpy when caught off guard. "Not perticularly, was something suppose to happen? You didn't send another assassin out to kill me did you?" He asked jokingly.

Emmalia smiled and shook her head. "No, I'm just... I'm very protective over you. Last night scared me and all." She slowly pulled him into a hug and pressed her head into his shoulder, her false smile fading. "Cal, after what you asked, I'm scared, and after my nightmare the other night, I was already scared. I love you too much to feel any different right now."

Callum sighed softly as he embraced her in a light hug. He hoped that she would change her mind at some point, hopefully sometime soon, but he was in no rush to become a vampire. As long as it happened before he got too old, he wouldn't mind at all. He just wanted a way to be with her forever, and it was the only way he knew of. "I'm sorry Em. But I'm fine. I'm a hard man to kill."

Emmalia nodded slightly and lightly squeezed him. "I'm just getting paranoid, but please don't try to change it. This position, warlord and all, is fine, but now I fear that Balder is telling the truth, and it's put a target on your back." How could she express how scared she was of his dying? It was almost enough for her to condone turning him.

"If it is, then we'll take it one step at a time. Right now, we're sitting in the second most impenetrable fortress in the Northeast, where we make the rules and everyone follows our command. I'm sure we'll be fine for the time being." He kissed her cheek gently and added, "I love you, Emmalia."

Very quietly she replied, "I love you too, Cal...." She looked up at him, trying to think of something to say. Finally, she just settled for, "Still, just indulge me in my paranoia." She was familiar with the pain of losing a lover. And as much as she had thought Peter was her soulmate, she hadn't loved him as much as she loved Cal. To think of going through that pain again, she couldn't stand it

Callum smiled and kissed her gently. "Whatever you say, Em." He gave her hand a gentle squeeze. He didn't like being reminded how fragile he was compared to Emmalia, especially since he was the warlord who was in control of a mass of armies and a castle. It made him feel as though Emmalia would be a better tactician than he was. "Let's go ease your mind a bit. Is there anything you want to do?"

"I just want to be with you," she said softly. But they did need to get their minds off of things, so she kissed his neck lightly and said, "Whatever you want to do. Maybe go back to bed?" Her tone implied that she didn't mean going to bed to sleep.

Callum raised an eyebrow at her sudden change in tone. He welcomed it though with a bright smile. "Perhaps I am feeling a little tired..." He gave a fake yawn to play with her, and held her hand as they walked back towards their quarters.

Emmalia was just happy to spend some time with Callum, and the intimacy was a plus. It also would keep their minds off of her paranoia for a little while. She held his hand as they walked, her thumb rubbing over the back of his hand the whole time, til they got to their room.

Callum shut the door quickly behind them as he pulled her right back into another deep kiss. He pressed his body against hers and sat down on the side of the bed. He pulled away after a moment and said, "Well, Em, let's go to bed." He joked and laid down with his eyes closed.

Emmalia smiled softly and couldn't help but play with him as she laid beside him and began lightly kissing his lips, knowing he probably wouldn't be able to resist kissing her back.

Emmalia was completely right - It only took him a couple of seconds to pull her into a deep kiss, eventually tugging Emmalia up to lay on him as their lips pressed together, with his hands exploring her body slowly.
