Emmalia smiled and said smoothly, "About this slow," before leaning in and giving him a very passionate kiss.

Emmalia was very grateful, the next morning, that being in the master bedroom meant shutters that completely blocked light, preventing the sun from burning her bare skin. Which, well, she would have had quite a bit of showing if it weren't for the blankets. For once, though, she was able to sleep past dawn, so, with her head on Callum's bear chest and her arm around his waist, she took advantage of it and slept.

Callum had woken up much earlier than Emmalia eventually did, but he simply sat there and stared at the ceiling, enjoying the peace and quiet. His arm was around her as he sat still in the bed, praying that no maids or personnel would attempt to come in. It'd be rather embarrassing for someone to find him in the way he was after a day of being gone for years. Either way, he didn't care too much. At least, not enough to move from where he was. Callum figured Emmalia could use as much sleep as she got, so he didn't disturb her. Instead, Callum decided to let her wake on he'd own.

Em didn't wake long after dawn. She sighed and moved her head from Callum's chest to his shoulder. "Well hello there. How did you sleep?" she asked groggily. Her arm still lay around his waist, and she had a devilish smile on her lips. Yes it was a nice morning, but she expected some Smart ass comment from him about the night.

Callum smiled down at Em. Her hair was a mess, even worse than it ever had been previously. He found it cute, as it was also a way to prove to himself that, yes, last night truly had happened. "I'm pretty sure I didn't sleep at all. Spent most of the night trying to keep you quiet." He gave a wink before chuckling lightly and giving her a kiss on the top of her head.

Though she liked it when he kissed the top of her head, she had to play along, so Emmalia grinned and scoffed at him. "Oh, please. The walls are sound-proofed anyway." She chuckled and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek. It was nice, being so relaxed with him, especially after last night. Nothing seemed to be going wrong for a short time in their lives, and she was more than happy to enjoy it.

Callum snickered playfully back at her. "I don't know Emma, the way you were surely could've woken up the entire castle. I couldn't take the risk, I have a reputation to keep up and what not." He grinned as he kissed her cheek and ran his hand up and down her side. "I think we can both agree that this wasn't something advisers did with their Lords, so the less people who heard you, the better."

Emmalia smirked and said, "Well, you can't exactly blame me." Still playing along, she said, "Besides, we never said what exactly I advise." She pulled up the blankets a bit around her and sighed happily. No longer joking around, she softly said, "That was a nice night, Cal. Thank you. I'm glad we went through with it and all."

Callum smiled softly as he sat up and sighed. "I guess the 'thank you' part of the morning signals the start of actual daytime affairs?" He seemed disappointed the time had already ended, but nonetheless stood from the blankets and began to collect the attire that was hastily strewn across the room over the night. Blushing slightly as he got dressed, Callum soon found himself in full gear that he would wear normally, unironically looking over at Emmalia to see if she had been doing the same.

"I didn't say that, silly," Em said, exactly as she had said last night, except with a very different meaning. She gave him a grin and got out of the bed when he did to start getting dressed in clean clothes from her pack, though she waited without her armor on, so that when he looked at her, she could throw a pillow and hit him full on in the face.

Callum wasn't sure why he expected anything more - Emmalia was always quick with anything she did, so getting dressed would have been no different. Plus, the small amount of punishment for even attempting a peek at her seemed to bring a rather large amount of comedy to him. He chuckled lightly as the pillow hit him and fell silently to the floor. "Alright, you got me. Don't push your luck though, LaFaren, I may have you executed tonight as well." He gave a wink before strapping on the last of his armor.

"Oh? Why Lord Cross, I ought to let you know, I'm incorrigible, even under threat of execution." She walked up behind him, wrapped her arms around his waist, and gave him a light kiss on the back of his neck. Finally serious agajn, she asked, "So, more advisers and boring stuff today?" That meant a boring day for her, not too much to do since she didn't actually advise him.

Callum let out a soft sigh, as he knew the wretchedness of the advisers would soon be upon him. "Unfortunately, yes. I assume at this rare you'll need to take up bakery or catering before you'll see me more than a few hours a day." He turned around to give her the same affection she had given him, giving Emmalia a light and quick kiss on her lips.

Emmalia returned the kiss, then let him go. "I'll figure out something to do. Maybe see the guards, see how proficient their fighting is and if it needs any work, I don't know. Maybe I'll find a book and spend the day in the library." Emmalia could already tell that this lifestyle change was not exactly to her taste.

Callum chuckled lightly as he looked down at her. "Just as long as you don't go poking around the torture chamber. That's a wedding present." He joker and pulled her into a quick kiss before pulling away. "I'll return as soon as I can, I promise. Eventually I'll work out some way so we can go adventuring without everyone thinking we disappeared." He smiled softly before waving and walking off to go fulfill the rest of his training for lordship.

Over the next few days, Emmalia spent her time playing off as a battle advisor, so she spent a lot of time in the library and in the training grounds. A good number of the Guards were intimidated by her, though some felt a kind of camaraderie. The maids and house staff had similar mixed emotions. One time, though, she walked past room where a pair of maids was gossiping and distinctly heard them talking about her and Cal sharing a room. Emmalia wasted no time in telling them off.

Less than a week after claiming the throne as Lord, Callum had to host a ball for the Lords, as procedure dictated. Emmalia wore the same grey dress as before, and was no less armed than the previous time either.

Callum was less than thrilled to host a party, but the thought of seeing Emmalia in another dress seemed to make it worth it. He had been mesmerized by her looks at the last ball, and he had no doubt she would have the same effect on him. When the day finally arrived, he found himself in a tailored suit that was custom made especially for the event by the various mistresses around the castle. Callum remained in his quarters however, well over half an hour into the party. He wasn't ready to see all of the Lord's and Counts that he had gotten away from at the last ball.

Emmalia walked into the bedroom they typically shared and said, "Planning on being fashionably late, Cal?" She walked over to the bed, sat beside him, and took his hand in hers. "I understand hating it, but there's good food, at least. And who knows who might be here? Aman should be here, now that he's been freed. Maybe he will thank us or some such. Who knows?"

Callum nodded his head and turned to look at her. "I suppose so. It'd be nice to see Aman again. And to eat something more than a few apples." Callum's advisers had been blabbing on for hours before the party. The only food they allowed him to eat was apples, and he was rather sick of them after attempting to eat a meals worth of them. Fruit wasn't the only thing on his mind, however - Emmalia was, too. "Em..." Callum began, looking down at her hands as he took them in his. "Are you going to be at this party as my courtier, or my adviser?"

Emmalia could sense how important that question felt for him and showed him a soft smile. "I'll be there as whatever you want me there as." In a tone that sounded like it had no relation to what she had said, she added, "While it would be smart to play it safe and not make me overtly known, it would feel much nicer to be your courtier. And it's up to you - want to do what's smart or what feels right?"

Callum could've answered the question in a heartbeat, but he figured he should wait a moment to give her the feeling that he might actually consider logic over his feelings. After a moment, he brought her into a deep kiss, holding on to it for a few seconds before pulling away. "Well, I'd much prefer you to be my courtier. After all, it is your true title." He flashed another smile before standing tall. "All the maids of the castle will gossip about us anyway. What does it matter?"

Emmalia smiled as she stood beside him. "It doesn't, dearest." She held out her hand for him to take and said, "Might as well walk in as a couple and shock all Hel out of them." Some of the Lords and Ladies had already seen her, so that would add to the shock, that she was Callum's girl. Hopefully the maids would spread gossip quick enough for people to know that Emmalia wasn't just Callum's girl for the night... then again, hopefully the maids wouldn't mention where she slept at night.

Callum couldn't contain his excitement as they began to walk towards the Ballroom, hand in hand. "You always come up with the greatest ideas." Callum figured that, at the least, the other Lords could be rather impressed by how stunning his courtier was. Callum walked to the doors leading into the grand ballroom, sighing heavily. "Ready, Em?"

"Of course," she said with a grin, though before he could move, she gently cupped his face in her hands. "I don't think you are, though. Slow breaths, dearest. Be as excited as you like, but be careful - it would seem like it was fake if you were too excited. We're a natural couple, and we should show that." She leaned in and gave him a kiss, then took his hand again. If he was ready, then she would follow him to the ends of the earth.

Callum found a new strength in his after the kiss. He had kissed her back with the same intensity before she pulled away, rather sad to feel the vacancy of her lips. Callum pulled together though, and stepped through the doors into the lively space ahead of them. Lords, Counts, Queens, Princes and Princesses were all having a grand time, seeming to have all made themselves at home within the short amount of time they had been there. The Ballroom almost seemed full already as more people continued to pile in. The festivities were kicking in nicely, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Gallium's castle was well known for the size of its illustrious rooms and extravagant parties.

Emmalia kept her head up and shoulders high, walking with dignity and grace at Callum's side. There was a slight hush about the room as people turned to look at the pair of them. A prevalent question whispered amongst the crowd was who Emmalia was and if she wasn't just a hired girl. Some Lords recognized her as the dark huntress they had hired. But of course, nothing was directly said and the festivities resumed in mere seconds - a Lord could do as he liked with who he liked.
