"Well, at least this way you and Emmalia can manage the Western lands better. You know these lands are vast, and we have a large standing army to help combat the day to day beasts of this land."

 

[Solar Daddy]

Callum nodded. "It'd be much easier. We appreciate your hospitality as always."

 

[Dragongal]

"Well, one day Emmalia will have to take over for me. It would be best to have you by her side. These lands are taxing to anyone," Lady LaFaren said.

 

[Solar Daddy]

Callum nodded understandingly. "Unfortunately being a leader is devastating to your mind over time."

 

[Dragongal]

"I wouldn't go that far, but it is a time consuming task that doesn't allow for much free time," the Lady said.

 

[Solar Daddy]

"Well, that's where it gets to you. All work and no free time makes everyone's life dreary."

 

[Dragongal]

"Yes, well, the champagne, wine, and occasional ball or gala do help to lighten things up."

 

[Solar Daddy]

"That's true." Callum nodded.

 

[Dragongal]

Em was frowning down at her food for most of the conversation. Her mother said, "Emmalia is not your... Traditional noble, but hopefully, the two of you can manage the lands."

 

[Solar Daddy]

"I'm sure of it." Callum said and squeezed Em's hand.

 

[Dragongal]

"Good. Then perhaps the coup that overthrew you was a blessing," shs said.

 

[Solar Daddy]

"Possibly." Callum nodded as he ate.

 

[Dragongal]

"Emmalia," he mother said. Em looked up at her for a moment. Lady LaFaren quietly said, "It's good to have you at the dinner table again."

Em didn't know what to make of this - it was clearly some kind of sentiment, but coming from her, it was so foreign...

Callum squeezed Em's hand gently, letting her know that she could do or say anything and he'd back her up.

 

[Dragongal]

Em looked at Callum for a few moments, then finally said, "Thank you," to her mother. That seemed the most polite bet.

Lady LaFaren just nodded and continued eating dinner.

Callum smiled softly and told em a few quiet compliments as the meal went on.

 

[Dragongal]

Em squeezed his hand and smiled at him as a way of thanking him.

 

[Solar Daddy]

Callum smiled softly, even sneaking a quick kiss on her lips when her mother wasn't looking.

 

[Dragongal]

After dinner, they went back to their room. Em immediately hugged Callum and said, "Thanks for supporting me during dinner."

 

[Solar Daddy]

"Of course, you're my wife. That's what I'm here for." He smiled down at her.

 

[Dragongal]

"You're a good husband," she said.

 

[Solar Daddy]

"And you're a great wife." Callum said softly, kissing the top of her head.

 

[Dragongal]

Em smiled, but added, "I wish I was a better one."

 

[Solar Daddy]

"What? It's impossible to be better than you already are!" Callum said. "What makes you say that?"

 

[Dragongal]

Em shrugged. "Well just that - I'm kinda dead. And that causes problems, like the mini coup that kicked us out."
