@Bwahaha the infection are actually a living parasite that was native to Gastrea before humans got there. so being bitten isn't the only way of infection. the parasites can enter any opening on the body if your not careful. some of the parasites can rarely be found inside canned food.

Sure. Maybe they encounter each other on a raid or something? They probably wouldn't know each other from beforehand, but there's no reason they couldn't meet after the apocalypse and not shoot each other.
