I used to love playing against my brother in that game when I was little. I was terrible at it, but that didn't stop me from playing.

My word, this thread got me remembering some nice old gems~! I love it!

Personally, I've had fun with a lot of games that no one seems to remember. But I think my favorite hidden gems are:

SaGa Frontier - It's just genuinely a game that had been so different from everything else at the time. I remember being devastated when I was younger and found out my characters died permanently.

Downhill Domination - Does anyone at all remember this? Sometimes I wonder if I just own this odd entity of a game that no one on this planet ever bothered to play. This was so fun! Going down a hill at 200 mph on a llama beaming the other bikers on the back of the head with water bottles while racing through a canyon, trying not to be run over by boulders. So much fun! Especially when you just used cheats to get the llama without having to unlock it.

Folklore - This game needs more love. Seriously, it was one of the first games I got for the PS3 and the designs and the game mechanics were great! I loved the little Coropuna.

Monster Rancher series - I swear, if they brought it back to consoles, I would be one of their first customers. The handhelds suck and I loved this series as a kid. And though I thought it was more popular, I feel like everyone I talk to never even heard of it.

Actraiser on the SNES was a ton of fun when I was a kid. It's a pretty unique mixture of 'God game' and side scrolling action platformer. You alternate between platforming stages and helping your people build towns. I keep wishing they'd bring the concept back somehow but the only sequel to the game removed the strategy/god game elements entirely and just made it a straight platformer which is disappointing.

The game also has an excellent soundtrack.

Oh wow yes, i played a few mentioned here.
Santarium, monster rancher (first game for life!) And legend of dragoon!

How about LAPD futurecop? Was in an rp here where i took inspiration from that mech.

Warwind perhaps? That was the game that sold stratagy games for me, i liked that each trooper could get some uniqueness and the buildings could have peeps inside. One of my favourite tactics was retreat through and old "abandoned" base and ambush the enemy haha

Oh! And Metal Fatigue! That game had the best concept! I need to see it redond in this era!

Nascar Rumble (PSX)
Black and Bruised (PS2)
Twin Eagles (NES)
Tekken (on the grounds that I never hear any discussions about Tekken anywhere.)

Undertale ( I wish, lol. Although cringy undertale things have settled down and I'm seeing more sane people in the fandom )

Nobody remembers Need for Madness, that free racing game with the synthwave soundtrack all the cool kids played back in '08?

The Breath of Fire series. I have yet to find someone who has played it besides my relatives.
I've played Dragon Quarter, at least. Really damn fascinating game that I need to get back to sometime as I never actually progressed very far in it. I understand it's a lot different than the other Breath of Fire games, though.
