Red Raven

"Welcome... To The NHK!"
Hey Everyone!

So, I'm new here and I'm a huge fan of 'A Song Of Ice And Fire' / 'Game Of Thrones'.

And I was wondering if anyone would want to participate in a role play with me?

Basically;

Idea #1 -

I was thinking we could perhaps come up with our own great house and we could each be a family member or a worker of said house. We'd control a certain part of Westeros and we'd basically live out our daily lives as members of this house.

It'd take place at the start of 'A Game Of Thrones' / Season 1. And everything would start off pretty fine, but, as the plot progresses and The War Of The Five King begins- we'd be made pick a side and all hell would break loose!

Idea #2 -

It'd be almost exactly like above, but, instead of creating our own great house, we play as an already premade great house. Such as; House Stark, House Baratheon, House Lannister...

We would erase all of the characters from this house and create our own. We'd be able to make our own decisions for this house and play 'The Game Of Thrones'.

I think both ideas could make for a really good roleplay.

Obviously, if you wanted to join you'd have to be pretty adept in the lore of Westeros and possibly Essos, as well.

I like both ideas. So, if you wouldn't mind, could you tell which idea you'd prefer. I myself lean towards Idea #1- but, I want your input as well.

P.S -

Forgive me if there is an roleplay like this. I've seen loads of roleplays on this site- but I've yet to see one set in the world of ASoIaF. But, I'm really blind when it comes to this thing, so I apologize if there is one!

I assume the great houses of westeros will be NPC controlled, but I may be wrong. Otherwise, the entire lore of the setting makes no sense, because every great house has been a major power since the age of heroes.

wait who will be playing the main houses incase some of us want to ally ourselves with them?
I was thinking they'd just be NPCs. I might control them, or maybe all of us could control them when needed? We could make the decisions of the other houses by use of dice, or maybe we could all just talk about it in the OOC?

I know. I hate lore breaking, but, we have to do a little bit of it so this could work. I was thinking we could possibly create an island off of Westeros and have it be controlled by our made-up house and several smaller houses in our service?

I need to think it true some more, but, I think it could work!

it could be near the iron islands but was sepereated by Continental drift

and it could be called land's end meaning the end of westoros

I'm not sure that's necessary. Just have us play subordinate houses to the great ones, and I think it would be fine. If we're not in Westeros, I am not certain there would be any part of ASIF that would be left

I actually like this idea.

We could be a big house, but not a great one. If I do go with this; which great house do you think we should follow?

well how about the basics lannister borathion stark's and plus to spice things up a bit how about targerian

The Lannisters or the Tyrells seem like the best choices for me: plenty of grey areas to put holdings, much more political intrigue, much closer quarters, more wealth to play with, and a less cohesive society amongst lords. Also, at the beginning of the game they are in much more precarious succession situations than the Starks or the Martells.

I'd probably have to go with House Tyrell. I like 'em a lot more than House Lannister ( I'm so bias, but still... ).

I feel like House Tully would be interesting though. Because The Riverlands literally get destroyed during The War Of The Five Kings. It would make for possibly a more action packed and dramatic roleplay.

Tully could be cool too, but I'd still go with the Tyrells if we're looking for a political intrigue centered game. There was less intrigue and more battle in the Riverlands, but if that's the direction you're looking I'm down with that too.

I kind of want a good balance of both, to be honest.

Although if I had to choose one; I'd probably go with a more political roleplay as opposed to a battle filled one. House Tyrell would be fine liege lords!

i woudl probably go for eather targerian or house baelish : 3

and also would are iland have a equivilent to kings landing a city ful of liers : 3

...

House Baelish is in the Fingers, which is Tully territory, and House Targaryen has never been vassals to anyone, let alone the Tyrells. Aren't we starting this at the start of Book 1? Wouldn't that mean that there are only 2

4

Targaryens left, and they're over in Essos?

I think it's safe to say we're in the Reach.

wait were all going to be allied to one house... :( it would be good if we were allied to different houses that way it would be more fun or are we just all in the reach but still allied to different houses

Speaking of, if we do this I think I'd like to play as the lords of Brightwater Keep, if that's OK with the GM. There are loads of maps, and the wiki has a list of every mentioned vassal of the Tyrells, if folks need places to choose from.

wait are we all going to be allied to one house because if that's so then it wouldn't be much fun if were all buddy buddy
