News Gallery - Image Enchancements

Hey All,


So today we are launching a new image gallery on the site. This doesn't stop you from still using off site images or uploading something directly to a thread but basically this lets you create albums and have the ability to edit pictures (limited right now but we have have planned for some really awesome things)

Like I said limited now, but we have some really cool things coming soon, to better improve the experiance of using pictures in your rps.


Apart from being able to create your own albums, you can submit pictures to several predefined categories/albums for the general site, modeled after the RP genres. Fandom, Fantasy, Realistic or Modern, Futuristic.


As usual please don't submit anything to the site where the author explicity states not to use it off the site they uploaded it at(like deviantart). If they ask for credit, then put it in description/information section of the picture.

Planned Features:

• Tie the system better RPs, threads/tabs and all that good stuff, you'll see, pretty fantastic for maps and stuff.
  
• Release more image editing capabilities.
  

PS: This is not a replacement for the character showcase in the past as some users have already wondered. The showcase as stated before was powered by a third party addon that fell outdated and we couldn't support any more, hence the creation of the character forum a while ago. This image gallery is an official extension to xenforo(our forum software), so as long as xenforo stays in business, we have no worries about this addon going away like others in the past.

The idea is to start bringing some features to help users organize their images and stuff like that, if theres something that can be made similar with it, do let me know.

Honestly I think the best thing this does is make it where users can upload images they use and not lose them. I've used so many good images for RPs but it's aggravating to dig through all my threads to find them.


That's why I think it'd be cool if you could make a feature to it where uploading a picture through the in post bbcode button automatically loaded it to the gallery into a users private album.


Eh? eh?


Never lose a picture again!

The idea is colors and other basic things known to paint/photoshop. While we won't ever be able to come close to a full fledged program like that, most don't use them/know how to, unless you have extreme skill.


We want to make at least some basic things possible .

Hell, even if there were things like an auto color/tone, greyscale, sepia. I know some image hosting sites have those, but I'm unsure how to implement them on the back end. Hell even if there was some way to add a filter set for that stuff (almost Instagram-esque?), it would add a LOT.


Honestly, as someone that puts WAY too much time in editing pictures before posting them (even for small things), these tools are going to be SUCH a time saver for me. Options like cropping, flipping and tagging users in the media itself?! Ohmygod. Being able to have even those tools without going off site or using a terrible image hosting service is going to be so useful.

Excellent addition. It's already a good plus, but more things added to it, sounds, really, really good.
