Realistic or Modern Fun in the Sun

Roleplay Type(s)
It was a sunny Sunday morning at the beautiful Wave Resort. It was a balmy 80 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, with a cooling salty ocean breeze. Well it's beautiful if you're a guest and get to enjoy the fun in the sun, but for the McAllisters it was another day of hospitality and forced smiles. Olivia stormed out of her penthouse room that she shared with her obnoxious older brother and down to his office. That morning's newspaper was tucked under her arm along with other paper and folders. Olivia walked behind the front counter continuing on to the offices, and swung open his office door. "You idiot."

Olivia was fuming as she slammed the door shut behind her and threw the newspaper at him. "Mother and Father have one rule. Which is?" she asked him. Bradley brought his head up from his desk "Liv...please. Just shhhh, my head is pounding." he begged her as he rubbed his temples. "All they ask is to keep our name out of the paper unless it's for charity work." she snapped back at him. He groaned, resting his head back on the desk. Olivia rolled her eyes, "you're pathetic." she said as she walked over to a cabinet and pulled out some aspirin. She handed him the medication and a glass of water. "If you think you can pull your life together for 10 minutes, we have a staff meeting." she said as she turned and walked out.

Brad watched her leave and shook his head, "women." He grabbed the newspaper and examined the picture, "they could've at least got my good side." he said to himself as he continued reading. It was all about his night of drinking last night. Somebody must have leaked the photo to the press. He folded the newspaper back up and sighed, throwing it in the trash. He'd be hearing from his parents' publicist later. That would have to wait, he had a staff meeting to crash.

Olivia made her way into the board room and placed her papers out. She had the meeting all planned out. Bradley strolled in and stood next to his sister, "look at you. You're a natural." she turned and looked at him, giving her signature eye roll. "You look like a mess." She began running her fingers through his hair, trying to neaten it. He swatted her hand away, "Liv, cut it out. I got it." he said as he ran his own fingers through his hair. Bradley lounged back in a chair and put his feet up. Olivia remained standing as they waited for their employees.

If sleeping twenty four seven is possible, that would be what she's doing right now instead of walking under the sun's heat to go on a stupid staff meeting. Of course, Zoey isn't asking to die or something. She frowned as she took every step to get in the board room. Sometimes she don't get why she even took up this job, maybe because of her love for swimming. She loves swimming but she also loves sleeping and hates the heat, she wondered once which she loves more of the two.

Zoey opened the door and bowed at the two McAllister's with respect- even though she did bow she was still wearing her usual grumpy face. "Morning, ma'am and sir..." she muttered low under her breath but enough for the two rich kids to hear. The life guard girl then proceeded to take her seat at farthest corner of the table. Thank goodness she was the first one to arrive because she really, really wants to take a little nap. But alas, she can't as the two bosses are around and watching her.

But the feeling of the air conditioner producing cool air that softly blows to her skin soothingly was enough to knock her out of conscious. Even though she did her best to stay awake- unfortunately she completely gave in to exhaustion and her face fell to the table making a whack sound in the process. Her head quickly shot back up when she felt the wooden table kiss her face, she winced a little bit before avoiding her bosses' kids stares. Surely they're thinking of firing her but hey, everyone can be pretty tardy from time to time- although the only difference is she's always tardy. Not a big of difference at all right?

Alexandrea, Character Reference

As the sun rose dutifully, Alexandrea only groaned and turned her back against it. After many years of waking up with the sunrise, one would think that they'd use every little chance they'd get to actually sleep however long they wished to, right? If Alexandrea were anywhere else, she would honestly reply with a giant 'Fuck You. Fuck Everything.' and return back to her peaceful slumber. The last two days were a little rough on her, as the entire family was just a tad bit more excited and hyper at the prospect of travelling over to a very well known, and prestigious, resort. Alexandrea herself, was looking very forward to being there, herself, as she had little chances to travel to and fro while she was focused on her studies and whatnot.

Oh! And naturally, her parents were very up-front with their intentions of staying at the classy resort. So, no: she was not forced or bribed into doing this! Alex was curious and actually ... looking forward to actually having a job over the summer. Especially a job that allowed her to speak with others, and uh ... hello? She was going to be surrounded by food! (And drinks, but that's a whole other story for later)

At the thought of food, the redhead's hazy mind began to clear up, leaving her feeling just a bit more exhausted by the previous days' long and boring hours spent on an airplane. Her hand reached up and around until it managed to wrap itself around her phone, and with a quick blink she quickly read a "Staff Meeting". Double Checking that she still had time to refresh, and get ready, the redhead tossed aside the blankets with a long, heavy sigh and began to get ready.

Dressed in a simple white dress - which only really showed her arms off, as her collarbone was covered as well - Alexandrea was just brushing her hair and applying some light simple eyeliner when the door knocked. Already knowing who it was, the redhead was quick to open the door - revealing her brother, who simply tilted his head, gesturing almost. Nodding in reply, Alexandrea set down the brush, strapped her sandals on and quietly closed the door.

Garret, Character Reference

The second youngest - also second oldest - of the Dalrein family had been awake long ago. Long before the sun made itself known above the horizon anyway. While his parents and siblings had little to no trouble adjusting and dealing with jetlag, time differences and the like, Garret always had trouble settling his inner struggles with airplanes - and ships. That wasn't to say that he was tired though. Travelling takes it's toll on everyone, and while he did try to catch even a bit of sleep, it just didn't work. So he stayed up, just ... scrolled through his phone endlessly.

Then, the notification popped up. Garret didn't know if he wanted to cry or grin, he probably looked like shit and would be ridiculed by others - or worse, sneered upon by the Boss(es) and their kids - but it also meant that he would begin working at the resort, and while it was still working, Garret honestly saw no cons as he made and finished his pros and cons beforehand.

Quickly setting his phone aside, he went right for his luggage, pulling out acceptable clothes that he - and his siblings - had packed in. Once he was finished, he had to think it over ... were black shorts, and sport sweater zip-up's acceptable? Shrugging with a careless grin, he grabbed his phone and headed out the door to pick up Lexa. Hopefully the baby of the family had dressed up better than he did. Family reputation and all that jazz.

(3RD Person)

The two siblings were silent as they walked around the resort, reaching closer and closer to the board room by the minute. Alexandrea had her eyes peeled, looking left and right excitedly, though she knew better than to actually show her cheerful behavior - especially so early. Garret on the other hand had his eyes trained ahead of him, having memorized the routes and hallways pretty well, and lead them to the board room efficiently. Arriving just a bit before the scheduled time, Garret raised his hand and gave the door a firm knock - three knocks, just to be sure - and a pause before he opened the door.

Naturally, Garret opened the door, but stepped aside, letting Alexandrea step into the room first before he followed suit. Once the siblings were both inside, they were quick to do a sweep of the room - finding one other person already present for the meeting - and two other people who were most likely McAllister's children.

"Good morning," Alexandrea greeted pleasantly enough, and Garret only nodded respectfully letting his chin reach his chest with practiced ease.

With pleasantries over with, they took their seat next to each other just about in the middle of the table. Garret could tell that Alexandrea was naturally curious about the other person sitting at the far end, but just by her body posture, it was clear that the girl wouldn't be welcoming anything sort of interaction so early in the morning.

((Real sorry! My posts are never this long, or confusing with POV switches, but it's just for the introductory))

Today's just a normal day, isn't it, Xavier thought. He didn't like waking up so early, but there wasn't anything he could do about it. All he had to do was read the message on his phone and not make a mess. Just another day. The only difference was that it starts with a staff meeting. He walked through the morning heat admiring the scenery. Carrying his usual box of doughnuts, he quickly made his way to the meeting Hopefully, nothing goes wrong.

Xavier entered the boardroom and nodded at his bosses. "Good mo-morning." He saw a young lady sitting near the back of the room and the two sitting next to each other in the middle. I hope I'm not late. He waved at them and took a seat near the front, his back towards the other three. He quietly munched on his doughnut until he turned around in his seat and pushed the box behind him. "Do y-you want some? I-I can't eat them all by my-myself. My treat."

Kamil had just managed to throw his suitcase o the bed before changing into his swimming trunks and making a run for the beach. He frowned inwardly at traveling alone, but he was sure he could meet people there. It seemed relatively empty this early, however. Was everyone still inside?

He sat contentedly in the sand, slightly rocking himself like a child as the sun rose. Strange that his wanderlust had brought him here.

Pslam had just finished her training and her small shift for Assistant Reservations Manager.

"Thank you very much." She smiled at the current Reservations Manager, who will soon be leaving in a few months, which is a reason why she is training.

She left the room that they we're in and decided to go to her hotel room which she will be staying in for God knows how long. She changed into her bikini and put her over-sized cardigan so she can hang by the beach a bit. She grabbed her beach bag and threw some magazines and her favourite books in. She also took her guitar with her just in case she wants to compose or sing a song.

She slipped her flip-flops on and wore her Raybans and exited her room, and headed straight for the elevator down to the beach.

Once she got there she noticed the beach was fairly empty, so she took a seat in her favourite lounge chair which was far away from most of the chairs and which was under a palm tree. She comfortably sat down and took out a book called "The Death Cure" and started reading.

Jake was watching the pool, it had been a fairly quiet day so far. Just a few kids here and there. Jake closed his eyes for a moment to soak in the sun.

He opened them and started watching the clock. His break was in twenty minuted and he could not wait. It would make his shift even better if he could find someone to talk to. He slipped off his tank top, he hadn't put sunscreen on but ever since being in the sun all day he had stopped getting burnt.

"Miss Tyler," a voice stirred Tyler from her light slumber. "Miss Tyler, we've arrived." The man with the slight New Jersey accent said again. Tyler shook her head, trying to clear the sleep without much effort. She yawned and stretched her long arms above her head. She stared ahead and looked at her long legs spread across the backseat of the car. "Thanks, Joey." Tyler said with a smile, putting her head in between the front seats of the car and smiling at the older man. "No problem, Miss." Joey said with a smile. "Joey," Tyler said looking at him, "You can just call me Tyler. We've known each other for 20 years." Joey smiled softly at Tyler, who's mouth was wide with a huge smile and her deep hazel eyes were alight with an excited fire. "Yes ma'am." he said with a tip of his hat at her. Tyler grinned excitedly as the car came to a stop in front of a huge resort. She kissed Joey on the cheek. "See you later, Joey." she said, waving at him as she got out of the backseat of the car. He slowly tipped his hat to her again.

Dear Lord, it was like her legs traveled on for miles. Her legs were quite pale, due to the curse of the red heads. She wore blue jean cutoffs, short enough to see the pockets hanging out of the bottom of the leg. Her racer back tank top was a bright coral color, with white lace making up the top. She wore tan sandals on her feet with her toes painted a pale green. Her hair was down, messy in waves, and she wore very little make-up. She really didn't need any, but somethings were left up to expectation. Two men walked past her, grabbing her bags from the curb and smiled at her. She grinned,
"I'm Catherine," she inwardly shuddered at her own first name, "Miller." The man nodded at her and gestured toward the lobby with his arm. She was given a key, her bags were dropped off in her room, and she went off to find her friend.

She reached the door of the boardroom. She knew she wasn't staff, but she was just so excited to see Olivia. Just like she always was. Olivia had been so busy recently, they hadn't been able to hang out, but now Tyler had come to her. She knocked twice, quickly, and paused, before opening the door. She knew how to behave in a professional setting. She looked around the room, seeing several people sitting at the table and the two gorgeous McAllisters at the front of the room. Tyler raised her eyebrows in utter excitement. She looked at Olivia and waved excitedly. She knew to wait until the end of the meeting, Olivia was in business mode. Tyler was just glad to be here and away from the city, although she knew visiting Olivia was just an excuse to get rid of her during the most important time for their company. They often said that she really just got in the way. Tyler took a seat against the wall and looked around the room.

The pair stayed at the front of the room as employees filed in. Bradley stayed in his lounged state, he was very much a relaxed and laid back boss. Olivia, on the other hand, had an emotionless business facade on her face. Bradley chuckled when he watched the lifeguard's head hit the table, she had the right idea in his opinion. Olivia glanced up hearing the thunk and shook her head. As more of their employees walked in the slapped her brother's head with the folder "sit up straight." she hissed at Brad. He sat up and rolled his eyes. "yes, mother." he answered sarcastically. Olivia gave him a look, that if looks could kill Brad would most likely have been dead. When Olivia's best friend walked in she gave a small smile, but maintained her professionalism.

Once their employees arrived at the meeting, Olivia decided it was time to start. "Good Morning, everyone." she began professionally. "This is just a brief meeting to discuss a couple of things. First, we received a memo from corporate-" Bradley cut in "or mom and dad if you will." he added with a smile. Olivia took a deep breath, "anyway...they apologize but they will not be here with us this summer. A different branch needed their presence so we will be in charge." Bradley coughed, standing up. He ruffled Olivia's hair "technically, I'm in charge baby sister, you're still training." She scowled and fixed her hair. He grabbed the papers from her hand and read them briefly. "The parents aren't going to be here...blah blah blah..." he crumpled up the paper and tossed it to the side. Olivia made a horrified face, she was completely embarrassed by her brother's behavior. He smiled at his employees, "alright so we both know you'd rather be enjoying the resort than working for people pretty much the same age as you." He walked over to the box of donuts and grabbed one, taking a bite, "so lets be friends...on your nights off you're invited to hang out with us. The resort is your home, you will live here free of cost, drinks, food, etc. We got it." Bradley said with a smile as he munched on his donut. Olivia's eyes widened.

Bradley stood back next to his sister at the front of the room, draping his arm around her. "So Liv and I will be having a get together tonight and you're all invited." Olivia looked at him "we're what?" He laughed "we're hanging out with friends and having a great time." he said turning his attention back to the employees "We hope you all will join us." He said "You're all dismissed." Bradley said. Olivia began to speak,"Please don't let these new policies interfere with you-" Bradley put his hand over Olivia's mouth "they won't Liv. Relax." He smirked at the employees "If you get a few drinks in her she's a lot more fun, I promise. Now go, you don't need to be in here any longer."

Olivia sighed as he dismissed the workers. "you're ridiculous." she whispered to him then went over to see her best friend. "Hey Ty..." she said sitting down. "I can't wait to get a hotel of my own." she groaned. Bradley headed towards the door "I'll see you two later." He said giving Ty a flirtatious wink, knowing how much it angered Olivia.

((Hey everyone, I apologize for the delayed response. If you didn't see I had a stomach bug and didn't have the energy to respond. I hope despite my exhaustion my post is satisfactory.))

Alexandrea, Character Reference Garret, Character Reference

Alexandrea found it a little unnerving while she sat in the room. It was completely silent, and ... they just didn't know each well enough. The social butterfly in the girl was rattling at it's cages, almost demanding to just hop onto the table and start something crazy. Awkward silence aside, Alexandrea couldn't help but to admire the room itself, it was obviously expensive, and well maintained by the McAllister's and their wallets. The two standing at the front, judging by their show of professionalism - or lack therefore, no offense whatsoever - clearly cut them above the 'normal' people. The redhead could only hope that they were friendly, or at least nice enough.

The door opened right after, and someone else stepped in. Carrying a box of mouth-watering sweets. Biting her lip to keep from cheering, Alexandrea only watched as the stuttering man stepped around and sat himself at the front. He seemed nice enough, shy even, but definitely a smart guy. I mean, why didn't she - or anyone else in this room - think to bring food into the room? It was bright and early, and she knew for one that no one even had a grab at the coffee yet.

"Do y-you want some? I-I can't eat them all by my-myself. My treat."

Alexandrea reeled back from the offer. Not out of disgust or anything, but out of surprise. It seemed like she had to reasses the shy guy, no one here had extended even a 'hello' yet and the sweet guy was already charming his way through the entire crowd with doughnuts. Alexandrea was ready to take back the smart and replace it was genius. Smiling happily, Alexandrea reached forward and took a doughnut out of the box. Her eyes were positively sparkling when she bit into the sugary treat.

"Thank you," she replied, after swallowing the first bite. Mm, delicious and they were still a bit warm, too, she noted. Clearly impressed, floored even, and made another note to catch his name and pay him back in someway. Turning to her brother, she saw that he was also half way deep into his doughnut. His face clearly grateful with odd look of respect. "Thanks," he muttered after swallowing his bite, "good thinking," he added finishing his doughnut with one last bite.

Again, the door opened, and another person stepped through. It was almost amusing how they were all trickling in, like ants, but this person hardly seemed like an employee. Had even taken to the wall instead of the table, and judging by the wave and excitement that just shook the newcomer, she was pretty friendly with the two at the front of the room.

Soon enough, they began to talk, which meant the meeting was underway. It started off serious enough, and both Alexandrea and Garret both sat stoically, more than used to these serious business like type of conversations. Besides, anyone would be interested with the shift of power, any shift in the balance directly affected them both who - at the moment - were just the minions, however willingly they were when they took on the job.

However, as the brother took over, as he rightfully should by all accounts as he was the oldest, the siblings were thrown in for a loop. Their personalities - the brother and sister - were so different, but it seemed like they both had the same points covered - maybe except for the part where all their expenses and needs would be covered - and then some. They were quickly dismissed, and Alexandrea was shuffled quickly out the door, along with the rest of them, still digesting the truck load of information that came pouring out like a leaking tap. Also referred to, as a mess.

"That was ... enlightening," Alexandrea managed, walking away from the board room. "It's nearly 7:30, I think I should go grab a bite. Just before I start," she said, turning to Garret who had his hands stuffed into the pockets of his shorts. "What are you thinking about? The party tonight?" She asked her brother as they made it back to the front of the hotel lobby.

Garret only shrugged.
"Not exactly feeling the hype for it, but we should at least make an appearance. It's only polite when the boss makes an invitation like that," he suggested, "besides, if we're working here for the summer, we need to make friends. Get to know people and all that jazz," he said, "now let's go grab some food."

Alexandrea hummed, seeing his point and began to trail after him when she turned around and saw a familiar face,
"Oh! Hey!" She smiled and waved, animatedly almost, at the same guy who had shared his doughnuts with them earlier, "Thanks for the doughnuts in there, real life saver," she joked, "my name's Alexandrea - feel free to call me Alex though," she greeted, and soon her brother seemed to realize that Alex had stopped to chat, and turned around, making his way over, slowly.

Zoey

Zoey dozed off at mostly everything the two rich siblings has just said but would occasionally get some doughnuts from the box. She blinked when she heard the guy boss says something about free food, drinks and they'll be staying there and about a get together party. She stared blankly at the two siblings, so what does that mean? They wanna be friends with their workers? Sure she can come along but mostly for the free drinks and foods. The Brady- Bradley? guy is sure easy going and carefree or maybe they're already that rich that they don't even care about the overall costs anymore. They have tons of employees right? "Rich kids." she muttered under her breath before standing up and exiting the board room just after the two McAllisters did.

On her way out she saw the two siblings, the waitress girl and the desk attendant guy with that shy guy earlier with sweets. They have such contradicting personalities, sometimes she can't help but wonder and question if they're really siblings. Oh hey, did that shy guy brought the doughnut she was eating earlier? She was freaking hungry and sleepy at the same time back then, might as well thank her life saver.

Zoey approached the trio and stared at them with her half-lidded still sleepy eyes. She nodded at them, a gesture that says she acknowledges their presence. She's not really that type of girl who says hi or hello. "The guy with doughnuts, uh, thanks?" she thanked the said guy- she was unsure whether she should give him a simple thank you or nah. So if their bosses wants them to be friends with each other, she might as well try.

"So, you guys gonna come along to the party or nah?" she asked the three of them as she crossed her arms in front of her chest. She might come along to the party but mainly because of the food and drinks. It would be uncool if it all went to waste when no one comes. She dusted off some sand that has sticked to her orange hoodie and blue short as she waited for their reply.

@Guilded Clover @Breaking Skies

Xavier nodded as his coworkers took doughnuts and said their thanks. They all seemed fairly friendly people. They didn't seem too distracted by his stutter and he was grateful for that.

During the meeting, one of the siblings said something about a party later tonight. I've never heard that before. Thinking it over, he didn't have anything else to do tonight. Plus there was going to be free food and he couldn't reject such an offer. His bosses' children were so different, it would be hard to think that they are related.

After the meeting, Xavier stood outside the room throwing away the empty doughnut box. The lifeguard at the back must've been really hungry. He saw two of his coworkers-- siblings perhaps-- walk across from him until one of them waved at him. "No pr-problem. I al-always bring food to-to work. My name's X-Xavier by the way." He smiled. The lifeguard also made her way over to the trio and asked if anyone was going to the get-together that night. "No problem. I have no-nothing else to do. Anyone el-else going too?"

Tyler watched as Olivia gave her a small wave, but remained professional. Man, Olivia was super good at that. She watched as Olivia began the meeting, professional and down-to-business as ever. Then Tyler watched as Bradley casually took over the meeting. Of course, Tyler had always had a minor crush on Bradley and his laid back, devil-may-care attitude. Plus, being a gorgeous McAllister and being your best friend's older brother, makes it hard not to crush on him. She watched longer as Bradley flustered Olivia and Tyler smiled. She always had wished her older brothers were like that. Of course, they were always affectionate and protective, just not in a care-free manner.

Bradley continued his little rampage with crumpling papers and a trusty donut. Tyler chuckled softly as she watched her best friend's face to utter horror at her brother's actions. Bradley talked about being friends and a party later. That sounds fun. Was all Tyler could think until Bradley ended the meeting quickly and Olivia approached her. "Hey babe." Tyler said as Olivia sat down next to her. She looked up as Bradley winked at her. Even though it angered Olivia, Tyler playfully waggled her eyebrows at Bradley and smirked at him. Then she turned back to Olivia. "How are you doing?" she asked, smiling. "I've missed you, like, a ton." Tyler said to her best friend. She smiled again. Tyler wasn't usually this smile-y, but she was just so happy to be out of the city.

Alexandrea, Character Reference | Garret, Character Reference

As Alexandrea waited for the reply, and for Garret to hurry on over, someone else beat him to it, making an addition to the group they were currently standing in. The first thing Alexandrea noticed was how bright the other girls' orange hoodie was, and instead of noting how obnoxious the color was, the actually suited the other girl. Watching the other girl nod in favor of greeting them, Alex returned the favor, and only smiled as Garret finally made his way over and the other guy began to speak.

"No pr-problem. I al-always bring food to-to work. My name's X-Xavier by the way."

Xavier, she repeated the name in her head, making sure to remember the name and face it was connected to. And what was this about him bringing food with him to work? Sounded absolutely wonderful ... there was only so much hotel food one could stand, after all. From what Alexandrea saw and heard from others who had taken the job, the hotel did had various kinds of food, from different cultures no doubt, but there was only so much that hotel chefs could manage to stir up.

"
Oh! I'll definitely be there," Alexandrea added, replying to both their questions. "seems like the perfect thing to do to really break into the summer," she added, looking a little sheepish while admitting so. Behind her Garret only scoffed. "It sounds like a pain in the ass, especially since some of us are a little jetlagged, but I don't think most of us can turn down free food and booze," he added in his two cents.

Turning to the girl in the orange hoodie, Alexandrea tilted her head at her, "
I don't know if you managed to catch my name earlier when I was talking with Xavier, but my name's Alexandrea, Alex, nice to meet you," she said, "and Garret there is my brother."
