Graded [Frontier] Nest-door Neighbors

~Luisa O'Sullivan~

1701822202498.png
Luisa stood amidst the lingering echoes of discord, her steely gaze cutting through the tension that hung in the air. The unsettling events with Maggot Corpse, Bloatfly Incubator, and Aedrianna had created a rift within the group, a dissonance that threatened to fracture their unity. Taking a deep breath, Luisa reminded herself of Captain Aliquem's orders—find the queen and play nice.

"I don't have time to babysit you all, I'm pressing ahead, try not to die. Catch up whenever you... figure all this out, tsk"

With a deliberate motion, she signaled her living chess pieces—the pawns and knights—to return to the mystical realm from whence they came. The armored warriors faded away, leaving only the five rooks as a protective shield around her.

As Luisa ventured further into the cavernous depths, the dim light cast eerie shadows on the uneven walls. The oppressive atmosphere weighed on her, but the resolute cadet pressed forward. Each step echoed through the cavern, a rhythmic cadence that matched the beat of her determined heart. The rooks, imposing and vigilant, moved with an otherworldly grace, creating a path through the labyrinthine cave system. Luisa's mind remained focused on the mission at hand, a single-minded determination to locate the queen and fulfill Captain Aliquem's directive.

With each twist and turn, Luisa navigated the intricate web of tunnels, the rooks clearing the path ahead. The air grew more oppressive, the scent of damp earth mingling with the distant hum of the giant bug nest. The cavern seemed to stretch endlessly, an otherworldly realm where shadows danced and echoes whispered.

Luisa's focus remained unbroken as she pressed on, her thoughts anchored to the mission's objectives. The queen awaited discovery, and the success of their endeavor rested on the shoulders of the united, despite the recent discord.

The journey into the heart of the giant bug nest continued, each step a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Eastern Empire cadet, steadfast in her pursuit of victory.

Griffin had been saddened when the rooks had pushed him away from Aedrianna. Not that he could fault them if their given task was to keep her safe. At least he wasn't perceived as a threat. It ended or seemed to when Luisa left saying something about her not being there to baby sit them. He wasn't offended. Things derailed. He just wished she hadn't thought so perfectly of herself that she ignored that she did have a role to play in all that as well, or atleast, that was how he thought of her behavior. However, Griffin had decided to keep his thoughts to himself, Luisa had stormed off ahead in what he thought was in a fury. Griffin sighed, frustrated with most of the members of the group and quite frankly disappointed everyone had a job they needed to do, why did everyone become so fixed on Maggot corpse over something that could have been dealt with later when they were done dealing with mutants? He still didn't understand, but at least it was over. Rios had also left at some point, though Griffin understood that. After all, what was happening did not correspond to the task at hand and everything got derailed so easily...they were a team alright...just not a compatible one. When the rooks disappeared, Griffin took the chance to run towards Aedrianna, who seemed to have managed to calm down Bloatfly incubator or that's just what Griffin could make out of it. Once he made it over to Aedrianna, he said.

"Are you okay? I'm not leaving you alone like that again. This is not a very compatible team. I'm sorry for taking off. At least I know where to shoot, though, when more bugs come around, right? But I won't leave you alone like that again during this mission. We should probably go and get this over with."

He hadn't realized at first that he had said 'when' instead of 'if' after he basically word vomited everything. It showed that he didn't doubt more were coming. Griffin heard more coming, and he knew it was time for the arguing to just stop. It shouldn't have started in the first place. At least it ended quickly. While he waited for her response, he used his ability [Gust Cloak [F]] to disguise any sounds he might make that might attract the attention of the mutant arachnids. He wished he could also apply the ability to Aedrianna, but he knew all too well that while the ability was as it was, he could only apply it to himself. He offered an arm to Aedrianna. He noticed her sudden exhaustion, it made him think back to a memory from his past life when he was still Aurora, not too long before, what he thought was a memory of speaking with a 'god' figure. He didn't dwell on it though he had a goal at the moment,

"Let's go. I'll keep you safe."

He was ready to follow Luisa's and Rios's footsteps and go deeper into the nest.

Aedrianna

Aedrianna sniffled as she followed closely behind Griffin. She wiped at the smeared blood on her cheek and did her best not to whimper. She'd been speechless since her last note. Struck in absolute fear of the guitarists retribution for her intervention tactic. That had been a little silly, to sing in the middle of the cave with bugs everywhere. Her fear of seeing people get hurt had caused her to do something ostentatious. She was simply grateful the towering fiend had only deemed her actions worth spitting upon. Rather than deciding to strangle her instead. As she trotted alongside Griffin, she started rooting around in her leather bag. She wiped another tear as she glanced around nervously at the skittering in the dark. She still had some sticky stuff in one ear, and she had blood and spit on her face.

"If I make it out of here...I really want to go to a hot spring." The thought slipped past her lips unbidden, mumbled and tearful. She scrubbed again at her cheek and sent a glare over her shoulder at the lanky guitarist. Perhaps she had deserved it, but she had been trying to help his friend, as well as him. Realizing what she'd muttered however, she shook her head and did her best to refocus. "I'm sorry Griffin. Thank you for helping me. Uhm...You said they're weak against fire? " The hand that had been rooting around in the bag, finally extracted a small bottle with a clear liquid inside. Her free hand reached up, even as she continued to follow and catch up with the others. Pulling down the ribbon from her hair and looking over to Griffin. "I can wrap your arrows in cloth and dip them in a solvent." Then when you're ready to shoot you can use a torch and light them on fire."

When he obliged her, she set to work as quickly as she could. Although she didn't dare stop to do the process, being spread so thin and surrounded. So the work was quick and shoddy. She soaked the ribbon in the solvent, then proceeded to try and wrap a few arrows for Griffin to shoot.

Actions:
1.Retrieve Solvent
2.Soak ribbon
3.Tie ribbon fragments on a couple arrows.

As Luisa stepped into an open chamber, she spotted Rios, the lone mercenary who had ventured ahead. Folding her arms across her chest, she couldn't help but acknowledge the stroke of luck that had kept him unscathed thus far. The absence of bugs in the immediate vicinity struck her as odd, considering their proximity to the hatchery and the anticipated presence of the queen.

Surveying the room with a discerning eye, Luisa's instincts tingled with suspicion. The eerie silence, the lack of scuttling insects, all hinted at an anomaly. Her gaze traveled upward, and the revelation seized her in a grip of surprise.

There, hanging from the ceiling like a grotesque chandelier, was an immense, glass-like bug. Its wings, razor-sharp and foreboding, resembled deadly blades. The swollen abdomen betrayed the imminent birth of countless eggs, visible through the translucent exoskeleton. It was a queen, a colossal entity that dwarfed the other insectoid threats they had encountered.

Luisa's fists clenched at her sides as she silently prepared for the impending confrontation. Her trained eyes studied the creature, recognizing it as a formidable adversary unlike any other they had faced. The queen's presence alone sent shivers down her spine, a testament to the gravity of the situation.

Summoning her grimoire with a swift motion, Luisa unleashed her living chess pieces into the chamber. "Rooks, form a protective barrier around me. The rest of you, Follow up my attacks with your own." The stoic determination in her voice resonated through the cavern, a command that the living chess pieces obeyed without hesitation.

The five rooks, towering and formidable, positioned themselves strategically, creating a defensive shield around Luisa. Their stoic frames stood as a bulwark against potential threats, ready to intercept any attack that might come their way.

With the living chess pieces deployed and her strategy in motion, Luisa focused her attention on the impending clash with the queen. The chamber, once silent, now crackled with the tension of an impending battle. The glass-like bug hung overhead, an ominous harbinger of the trials to come. The cadet steeled herself for the confrontation, her resolve unwavering as she awaited the queen's inevitable move.

In the heart of the giant bug nest, the adventurers entered a vast chamber that expanded before them, a cavern of haunting proportions. Suspended from the ceiling like a nightmarish chandelier, a colossal entity emerged from the shadows – an immense, glass-like bug, the very embodiment of ominous grandeur. Its wings, razor-sharp and foreboding, resembled deadly blades, glistening with an ethereal sheen that betrayed their lethal potential.

The queen's presence was commanding, its swollen abdomen revealing the impending birth of countless eggs within. Through the translucent exoskeleton, the embryonic forms pulsed with an otherworldly glow, a testament to the impending threat that loomed within the confines of the nest. The sheer magnitude of the queen dwarfed all previous insectoid threats encountered, marking it as the undisputed sovereign of this grotesque realm.

As the adventurers gazed upon this monumental creature, a silence settled in the chamber, broken only by the faint hum of the queen's stirring vitality. Its multifaceted eyes, gleaming with an intelligence far beyond the instinctual menace of its smaller kin, flickered to life. The wings, once motionless, began to quiver with an impending energy, casting spectral reflections on the cavern walls.

The epic awakening of the queen unfolded in a slow, deliberate manner. Its colossal form seemed to stretch and expand, an ancient force rousing from a dormant slumber. The atmosphere in the chamber grew charged with an otherworldly power, a tangible manifestation of the queen's awakening.

The adventurers, faced with the awe-inspiring presence of this monstrous queen, felt the weight of the impending challenge.

The queen, with an ethereal grace, extended its wings to their full span, casting a vast shadow that engulfed the adventurers. The razor-sharp edges of its wings created an imposing silhouette, a living weapon poised to strike. The cavern echoed with the ominous hum of the queen's awakening, a symphony of impending doom.

Unfortunately, Griffin didn't have any torches on him, or means to light his arrows ablaze, but he was grateful for Aedrianna's thought regardless. Despite her lack of fighting capability, she seemed to know how to use her wits to an extent, but that could only get someone so far and Griffin was concerned for her safety, as things were bound to get worse. He kept one of his arrows out and told Aedrianna.

    "Alright let's go..."

Regardless if they were ready or not, the group as a whole had a task to deal with, though while Griffin would do his task he would also do what he could to keep Aedrianna out of harms way. Theoretically, she was older than he was yet in some ways still reminded him of his younger brother from his past life. With that he started walking, his eyes switching from the path ahead of him to back at Aedrianna to make sure she was okay. He also took the chance to nocked his bow, holding his purple and brown bow with his right hand and using his left hand to hold the arrow against the arrow rest, and continued the path alert. Once they arrived at the queen's chamber and seeing the queen reveal herself, he muttered.

    "Schit"

The queen was huge. He wondered if she had the same weaknesses as the other bugs, but decided not to take that risk, using [Appraisel [E] again to search for any weaknesses. He tells Aedrianna.

"I...think you should stay outside the chamber."

He didn't like the idea of leaving her alone. But it was either that or leaving her alone in the chamber of that colossal-sized bug with little defense. He walks inside and tries to stay hidden from the queen. Using his [Gust Cloak[F]] ability once more, hoping to at least not be heard if he was seen, he knew that would be on him. Hidden the best he can, he aims the arrow at one of the queen's eyes, not yet firing.

Mentions: Uasal Uasal Moonberry Moonberry DarkKitsune DarkKitsune

Rios had reached the chamber which was supposedly holding the Queen, the giant bug who gave birth to her insectoid horde. No doubt combating this massive bug would take almost everything they had. All of its legs looked thick enough to break rocks and sharp enough to pierce through an Orc. Noticing the Imp Captain had begun her assault using those chess pieces of hers. Rios hoped the Queen would have her attention focused on the group of big chess people. Looking on at Chicken Man and their alchemist companion talking about something. He assumed they were coming up with their own plan. Clicking his neck from side to side. Rios drew both of his swords and decided to aim for the abdomen. Making sure this goliath of an insect could no longer spawn more of her kind was probably the first thing to take care of in this fight. Kicking off from the ground and speeding towards the Bug Queen. Rios tightened his grip on his weapons and swung his swords with incredible ferocity. Locking on to the massive creature with [Appraisal C]. The wannabe adventurer turned mercenary turned bug hunting blade for hire struck at the creatures swollen belly filled with multiple unborn insects. Each strike of his dual katana was filled with killing intent.

Aedrianna

Aedrianna watched quietly just at the edge of the cavern entrance. After a moment she realized the thrumming buzzing noise she was hearing was more than her own blood rushing in her veins during her fear and panic. After Griffin and Rios both went ahead with Luisa, she dared to poke her head around the corner and steal a peak at the creature at hand. When she did she wished she hadn't. It occurred to her, as the breath left her for the third time in the last hour. That she was a merchant's apprentice. She didn't have any business going with a scouting team. Let alone going to the heart of the nest. Slowly, shakily, she slid back into the shadows of the entrance, pressing herself against the cave wall and trying desperately to focus on her breathing. Griffin was right, she was going to stay right where she was and hope with all her might that everything would be okay.

There was a choke that came from Maggot, barely an utter as he attempted to cast his spell. The pressure placed firmly down his esophagus was uplifted though in no due part to himself. There was a gasp for air, it failed. The vocal folds constricting the free passage of air to sift through. Maggot managed a snort, barely enough to satiate his need for oxygen. For all the talk of him being undead by his companions he was struggling in what was an apparently human manner. A fizzle of static erupted from his larynx; a whistle of wind had laid a pipeline of breath for him to suckle off of. Then, an irritation had formed from his chest and his hypopharynx burnt with an obnoxious itch.

"HAAAUUUUUUUGHHHHHCK!!!"

A ball had expunged from his mouth. Green, red, orange? It mattered not. Beside him had the contents of whatever lodged in his stomach at an earlier date. If Maggot Corpse had to guess it would be an admixture of insects, dirt, and bodily fluid. There was wheezing as he had propped himself on his elbow; he pushed himself up by his forearm when his body allowed him for if he did it when he wanted to he'd have probably collapsed. The whipping headache had arrived soon after Maggot Corpse caught his breath. Maggot's eyes had highlighted the cavern searching for the Imperial soldier that fixated their chess pieces on him earlier.

Maggot had been unable to find them, within all that time of him barking up substance and regaining consciousness he had somehow missed the part in which everyone up and left to venture deeper into the cavern. Maggot Corpse's eyes glimmered downward to see Bloatfly Incubator retuning his guitar; how Bloatfly had come to hold his guitar in his lap after strangling Maggot Corpse was unknown. The recollection of the last five minutes had in fact been a murky haze & a clear ledger of the song had gone totally amiss from his memory. Maggot blinked and then began to trudge forward.

Maggot had shuffled deeper into the cavern in pursuit of the other adventurers. An even wider expanse had stretched out before them. Searching for the rest of the troupe he had his eyes covered by a deep black. The shadow of the queen's wings had blanketed the room around him. The thing was of a grotesque beauty that enthralled Maggot Corpse as soon as he had laid his eyes on it. The ancient terror had awakened and imposed itself on the party immediately. Yet for all its immensity it was the signs of motherhood which stuck out to Maggot Corpse. An unjustifiably large amount of eggs nested deep within a chasm. Maggot's eyes devised an insidious plan to cause a chaotic scene within seconds of gazing upon the creature.
Maggot Corpse looked outward to see what the rest of the adventurers had nestled themselves into. Aedrianna had shrunk back to the cavern entrance. Luisa's living chess pieces had already taken up a formation defensively against the massive beast. Then there was Rios who had taken their swords up in arms to force a C-section of all the babies that had been resting within their mother. The inspiration to cause mayhem had reached him in a moment of grotesque brilliance, he would force the babies to prematurely hatch and rip their way out from the mother's gut.

"Come here bitch!"

Maggot shouted as he ran a half-circle toward the protective mother being gravely assaulted by the band of adventurers. The skinny frame of Maggot Corpse was still feeling the brunt of earlier, his knees had picked up a strange ache that was unexplainable. Yet still he ran to get the perfect view of the strange underbelly of the beast. The microphone stand that channeled his insidious power, spawned seemingly from some faustian magic. Maggot had lined himself up to stare down the many eggs that were now under assault from Rios. Maggot had envisioned a lethal premature delivery as he took a sharp inhale. The harsh itch from earlier's strangulation could still be felt before he let out a violent belt toward all the eggs roomed inside.

Actions:
Step 1. Run towards the beast's side
Step 2. Acquire line of sight of the eggs

As Maggot Corpse awoke from a Bloatfly Induced slumber the guitarist stood, following behind Maggot Corpse as they caught up with the main party. The once rabid Bloatfly now looked defeated. Dragging his feet as he walked what was left of his boots seemed to be breaking apart even further. Pieces of black leather being left behind as more of Bloatflys wretched feet began to be shown. Various insects finding their home within the open wounds and blisters that covered Bloatfly Incubators feet.

With Shotgun Blowjob enter the enormous cavern proper Bloatfly's head looked down, his neck drooped in absolute sadness. His features flat as his guitar hung lazily from his neck. It wasn't until the awakening of the queen that Bloatfly barely lifted his head to see the abomination that stood before them. A queen larger than anyone would have realistically expected. A creature that the party would have to valiantly strike down.

Yet where his companions felt fear or anger Bloatfly was overcome with love, or perhaps it was lust. Nevertheless Incubator found himself stricken with affection for the bug queen that was seemingly prepping herself for war. Eyes wide and adrenaline pumping Bloatfly found his hands on his guitar once more, ripping his pick from his pocket he began to slam on his cords. Bright pink, purple and light blues flashing around the guitarist, with his heart beating he began rushing towards the queen. Screaming his proclamation of love for the bug Queen as he did.

Tyrmar

After a successful bug killing Tyrmar had hoped the rest of the endeavor would be as straightforward as possible, that is until he was reminded that friendly fire was a known thing for a reason. Despite dispersing the majority of the sound the others had still gotten into a kerfuffle that shamed the concept of battlefield etiquette. Once it seemed as though the musical duo had calmed themselves Tyrmar followed the Easterners lead by making his way further down into the tunnel. Patting the backs of Aedrianna and Griffin in the way as a means of gratitude for how they handled themselves during the, he brushed past them to take up a guarding position.

Suddenly stopping not a distance later behind Luisa as they abruptly found themselves in a new cave destination he was caught unaware as to her sudden stop before he followed her gaze to the ceiling. Tyrmar had never been one with a fear of bugs, though creepy at times and benign at others he had a general affection for all animals even small eight legged ones.

That affection did not apply in this case, it was like watching an alien invasion movie from the eyes of the characters in real time, it was incomparable to the last bug and his hands shook at the thought it may be able to handle his might. As Luisa and Rios made their moves Tyrmar also burst into action, setting himself in a horse stance tilted his body almost completely facing the floor before rewording another strike soaring past his Allie’s and their minions to hit the Queen.

The musicians were singing, the commander was commanding and the hunters were hunting.

~Luisa O'Sullivan~

1702828085285.png
Luisa's decisive move unfolded with the abruptness of a storm. The sudden appearance of her comrades, some opting for immediate aggression, left her little choice but to take action. In a burst of calculated momentum, she sprinted forward, eyes fixed on the colossal bug hanging ominously above. As if choreographed, Luisa utilized Maggot Corpse as an impromptu springboard, her boots digging into his decaying flesh with a grotesque squelch. The undead musician unwittingly became the launchpad for Luisa's aerial assault. Her body soared through the air, a sleek and deadly projectile aimed at the glass-like queen.

With a formidable wind-up, Luisa thrust her armored fist forward, unleashing a shockwave that rippled through the cavern. The force carried with it a relentless energy, surging toward the bug queen. Simultaneously, Luisa propelled herself backward with the recoil, a calculated retreat to distance herself from the potential counterattack. Her living chess pieces, dutifully following her commands, initiated their own assaults. The knights, bishops, and pawns engaged with precision, each move calibrated to maximize efficiency in their collective assault. Only the vigilant rooks, stationed as protectors, readied themselves to catch their airborne master as she descended.

The chamber crackled with the clash of forces. Luisa, mid-air, maintained a fierce focus on the evolving battle. Her movements, a testament to the disciplined training she had received under Captain Aliquem's command, embodied the essence of a soldier facing an insurmountable foe.

As the shockwave connected with the queen and her chess pieces executed their assigned maneuvers, Luisa's descent began. The vigilant rooks, sturdy and unwavering, caught her with calculated precision. The seamless coordination of attacks and defensive measures painted a tableau of orchestrated chaos in the cavern, a ballet of combat executed with military precision. [Leadership E , Warfare E]

As Luisa landed atop the rooks, her eyes remained fixed on the queen. The battle had begun, and the cadet was entrenched in the heart of the storm, ready to face the challenges that the glass-like queen and the looming darkness of the cavern presented.

The onslaught of attacks hurled towards the giant bug queen was met with an unexpected retaliation. In a display of immense power, the colossal insect whipped its wings back and forth, creating a tempestuous gust that sent debris and wind hurtling toward the adventurers. The force was overwhelming, an elemental counter that swept away projectiles, minions, and even the most steadfast of ranged attacks with disdain.

The party found themselves struggling to maintain their footing in the face of this ferocious onslaught. Luisa's living chess pieces and Rios, propelled violently backward, tumbled through the air, and ultimately met their demise when crushed against the cavern walls. But by some twist of fate or sheer luck Rios managed to land safely against one of the rooks like Luisa. All attempts at ranged attacks were futile, the wind beating them back as if they were nothing more than feeble gusts.

With the devastating counter, the giant bug queen descended to the ground with a disturbing grace, its colossal form dwarfing the adventurers. As it loomed over them, a palpable aura began to emanate from the queen, a sinister energy that permeated the chamber. The awakening of the queen heralded the activation of its drones, an ominous sign of the impending danger that awaited.

The aura, oppressive and terrifying, bore down on the adventurers. A chilling realization set in as the queen's malevolent presence overpowered them. Those of E grade and below found themselves frozen in fear, paralyzed by the overwhelming dread that the giant queen exuded. Even those with a slightly higher ranking, C grade and below, struggled against the fear that threatened to consume them, their resolve barely holding in the face of this monstrous entity.

The creature before them transcended any previous encounters, its oppressive nature leaving no room for doubt about the level of threat it posed. The queen's aura declared it to be a force beyond their current capabilities, a foe that surpassed anything they had faced before. The adventurers, now facing the true might of the giant bug queen, stood on the precipice of a battle that seemed insurmountable, their very survival hanging in the balance.

It was a struggle to keep his footing. As a matter of fact, Griffin wasn't properly able to aim his bow. However, that powerful force of wind wasn't all. As the giant queen had released a horrific and smothering aura. Soon enough, Griffin found himself too scared to move...he couldn't shoot that thing! And there are several drones! That powerful gust of wind...not even some of the stronger people in the group had managed to do anything...he stood there frozen as fear washed over his mind.

Her body was frozen. She didn't have to be as close as the others to feel just how much danger they were in. As the creature began to move and flex it's massive wings, and Rios and the rooks had gone flying, she herself had fallen back onto her bottom. There was no control over her body. She started to tremor, mentally screaming to run away. But even if everything inside her twisted her guts to get up and move, her whole body was limp. She didn't even know if she had control of her bodily functions at this point. Even the sound coming from her mouth was a strangled, breathless scream. Her heart beat was growing louder in her ears as fluid leaked from every orifice. Her vision grew more and more blurry as the tears welled up and streamed down her face with the snot. For an eternity to her, the only thing she could think, was that they might just die here.

Rios somehow avoided having his back broken after getting thrown into the air by the big bug that was now looking at all of them like they were some kind of snack. Looking back to check on the funny little chess person who was helping out Imp Captain Luisa showed Rios that the Captain herself was doing just fine. As for everyone else, there were varying levels of intimidation and panic on their faces. Rios himself didn't really get it. Perhaps they had forgotten that they had willingly signed up for this advance party? Plus they knew the risks when taking the quest that the bugs might end up being REAL BIG. Dusting off his clothes and looking for his swords. Rios picked up his weapons and was glad to see they weren't damaged. His broke ass really didn't need to be caught with broken swords today.

Right now he'd need to get the attention of the little guys that the Queen Bug was calling to action. Taking a deep breath and stepping towards the drone bugs. A focused Rios called his party to action. "We stare into the eyes of death itself. Yet this is NOT the day we meet it with our hands extended. Rise up... today we meet death with steel!" cried the swordsman to his group. Rios remembered the time he was caught in the midst of a watery vortex while trying to catch fish. Water was shapeless yet strong, gentle yet firm. The wannabe adventurer/swordsman/mercenary mimicked the motions of a whirlpool with both of his swords. He envisioned himself becoming a saturated swirl as he gained momentum.

~Luisa O'Sullivan~

The cavern seemed to contract under the oppressive presence of the giant bug queen. Luisa, though not completely paralyzed by fear like some of her comrades, felt the weight of trepidation settle upon her shoulders. The relentless force of the queen's aura pressed down on her, making every movement a struggle against an invisible current.

With a determined grit of her teeth, Luisa managed to move, albeit with considerable effort. Her boots scraped against the uneven ground as she navigated the cavern, her eyes never leaving the colossal insect that now stood before them. The living chess pieces, however, were not as fortunate. The pawns and knights, caught in the grip of fear, remained frozen, their usual vitality replaced by a paralyzing dread.

The rooks, who had caught Luisa during her airborne retreat, stood firm but showed signs of strain. The very air seemed to resist their presence, making their normally sturdy frames quiver under the queen's oppressive aura. Luisa's control over her magical minions was tested as the queen's malevolent energy sought to stifle their every move.

The fear of the unknown, the uncertainty of facing a creature beyond their current comprehension, gripped Luisa's heart. Her training under Captain Aliquem had prepared her for numerous challenges, but this, this was an entirely different battlefield. The giant bug queen's strength was palpable, a looming threat that dwarfed any adversary they had encountered before.

The tempestuous gusts from the queen's wings continued to wreak havoc, making ranged attacks futile and leaving the party vulnerable. Luisa, though able to move, felt the formidable weight of fear in her chest, a lingering reminder that the battle had shifted into an uncharted territory of peril.

As she positioned herself cautiously, Luisa couldn't shake the realization that this encounter was unlike anything they had faced. The giant bug queen, an ancient force of nature, stood as a sentinel of the cavern, and in its presence, even the bravest hearts were tested. The true challenge had begun, and the young cadet found herself at the forefront of an escalating conflict, each step forward weighed down by the ominous aura of the colossal insect before her.

The oppressive aura of the giant bug queen seemed to intensify as she approached, yet the determined cadet clenched her fists and launched a punch toward the colossal insect.

The punch, fueled by determination but hindered by the overwhelming might of the queen, landed with a resounding thud, sending ripples across the creature's chitinous exoskeleton. However, it was painfully evident that the attack had little to no impact. The insect, seemingly unfazed, regarded Luisa with a detached and almost mocking indifference.

The futility of the punch hung in the air, a stark reminder of the immense gap in power between the cadet and the ancient creature before her. Luisa's knuckles stung, not from the impact on the queen's exoskeleton but from the realization that their adversary was a force beyond their current capabilities.

Undeterred, Luisa maintained her stance, a defiant glint in her eyes despite the fear that lingered in her heart. She knew that this battle would demand more than physical strength; it would require cunning, strategy, and perhaps an understanding of the mysterious forces that governed the giant bug queen. As she braced herself for what lay ahead, Luisa remained resolute, ready to face the unknown with a courage born from the crucible of adversity.

As the party found themselves overwhelmed by the oppressive aura of the giant bug queen, their attacks thwarted and their ranks struck with fear, a sudden presence emerged in the chamber. Captain Aliquem, with her sword gleaming in the dim light, stepped forward with an air of unyielding determination. The rest of the party, frozen in awe and terror, watched as she effortlessly moved through the tumultuous atmosphere, her every step exuding confidence and purpose.

"Congratulations on holding out for so long," Captain Aliquem remarked with a nod to the beleaguered adventurers. "I'll take it from here."

With blinding speed and a grace that defied the colossal threat before her, Captain Aliquem engaged the giant bug queen in a dance of lethal efficiency. Her sword, an extension of her will, moved with a precision that seemed almost supernatural. The clash of steel against chitinous exoskeleton echoed through the cavern as the captain skillfully avoided the queen's retaliatory strikes.

The battle unfolded with an epic intensity. Captain Aliquem, with every movement, demonstrated the culmination of her combat prowess. She exploited the gaps in the queen's defenses, her strikes calculated and relentless. The giant bug, despite its immense size, struggled to match the captain's blinding speed.

As the battle reached its crescendo, Captain Aliquem delivered a devastating blow, targeting the queen's eye with unwavering precision. The impact conjured a gust of wind that rippled through the cavern, a testament to the captain's mastery over the elements.

Seizing the opportunity, Captain Aliquem plunged her sword into the wounded eye, the blade emitting blades of vicious wind that tore through the queen's exoskeleton. The cavern resonated with the shrieks of the colossal insect as Captain Aliquem, with unyielding determination, tore the creature asunder from the inside.

The final moments of the battle were a symphony of destruction, the queen's form convulsing as the captain's blade cut through its colossal body. The oppressive aura that had gripped the chamber began to dissipate, replaced by the echoes of a victorious battle. Captain Aliquem, standing amidst the remnants of the defeated giant bug queen, lowered her sword, the gleaming blade now stained with the ichor of their formidable foe.

The frozen onlookers, gradually released from their fear, bore witness to the epic feat that Captain Aliquem had accomplished. She turned to the party, a nod of acknowledgment in her eyes, and spoke, "That, my friends, is how you deal with a creature of this magnitude. Always remember, there's more to combat than mere strength. When fighting an opponent that's far larger than yourself you must utilize strategy, speed, and precision. Always make use of what your opponent cannot."

With the giant bug queen vanquished and the chamber now eerily silent, Captain Aliquem stood as a testament to the martial prowess the Eastern Empire held.
"Now, Let's get this thing cut up and its materials divided shall we? To think a queen candidate actually resided in this cavern, I had only suggested such in jest. How interesting."

Conclusion
After the epic battle that saw Captain Aliquem single-handedly defeat the giant bug queen, the adventurers returned to the camp near the nest entrance, a mix of awe and gratitude etched on their faces. The oppressive aura that had lingered in the chamber now replaced with a sense of accomplishment and relief.

Captain Aliquem, still adorned in her gleaming armor, approached the party with a nod of acknowledgment. "You all held your ground admirably. Facing a creature of such magnitude is no small feat," she commended, her tone carrying a mix of respect and camaraderie. The party, though humbled by their earlier failure, felt a renewed sense of purpose under the guidance of the seasoned captain.

With the threat neutralized, the adventurers turned their attention to the spoils within the giant bug nest. Elara, the shrewd representative of the neutral merchants' guild, stepped forward with a keen eye for resource allocation. "Let's ensure that the distribution is fair and in accordance with our initial agreement," she suggested, her gaze sweeping across the gathered treasures.

The party and the Eastern Empire forces began the process of dividing the goods. Various items, from valuable insectoid parts to precious gems, were carefully sorted and cataloged. The neutral merchants' guild representatives, including Elara, oversaw the equitable distribution, ensuring that each party received a share proportionate to their contributions.

Captain Aliquem, while partaking in the division, maintained a watchful eye on the proceedings. Her carefree facade was back in place, but those who had witnessed her prowess in battle knew better than to underestimate the cunning mind that lay beneath.

Kaelin, the leader of the Ryken Kingdom's mercenaries, exchanged a nod with Captain Aliquem. Despite the political differences between their nations, the joint victory in the face of a common threat had forged a temporary bond of respect and cooperation.

As the distribution neared its end, Elara addressed the gathered adventurers and military forces. "May this collaboration serve as a testament to the potential strength that lies in unity. The road ahead may be fraught with challenges, but together, we can overcome any obstacle," she remarked, her words resonating with a sense of optimism.

With the goods divided and the trade route secured, the three parties—Eastern Empire forces, Ryken Kingdom mercenaries, and the neutral merchants' guild—prepared to part ways. Captain Aliquem, with a final nod to the adventurers, led her forces toward the Eastern Empire, ready to report their success and continue their journey.

The adventurers, now enriched by both experience and spoils, watched as the Eastern Empire forces gradually disappeared into the horizon. Kaelin and his mercenaries, along with Elara and her guild representatives, remained at the camp, their paths diverging but leaving behind a shared tale of triumph over a formidable adversary.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the land, the adventurers began to disperse, carrying with them the memories of an epic battle and the spoils that bore witness to their resilience. The trade route, once threatened by the giant bug nest, now lay open and secure, a testament to the strength that could be forged when nations and individuals set aside their differences for a common cause.

Quite the comedy. friendly fire and pvp deep in enemy territory, weak abilities on average against a stronger and more numerous foe in their home turf, and then an npc to put the cherry on top on behalf of the party and beg the question why they were there in the first place. One of those things where you go, "yep, that just happened." Overall good effort, but i did notice a couple suspicious things: the alchemist can't be handing out strength potions. Pretty sure she didn't have the skills for that, but they didn't seem to leveraged mechanically so perhaps its just a nice flavor. Items require 1 grade higher to use. I noticed some folk claiming they were using same grade state as item. Looked like a couple at least were using the same grade ability multiple times in the same post and it was not clear energize was leveraged. Any aoe ability using magic automatically hits caster without something like selective, so keep that in mind. Mainly the rockers but just in case some of the martial folk take up magic, its a distinct difference from martial. I'm surprised more of the party were not impacted by the music bros. The defenses were weak if they were effective at all in some cases.

As a reminder, the average grown bug is over 10ft tall and a D ranked creature that tends to travel and live in horde numbers for any of your future endeavors in the area :3

Aftermath
The dormant bug scourge was beaten back some. One less problem to deal with come spring. The Merchants would count it a blessing and an opportunity to continue operations in the area a bit longer.

Tyrmar, the fae see hero, would need to leave immediately and cannot take any East Empire titles. They are the enemy of his people and now that the immediate bug threat is resolved for the moment, the east empire dogs were like beacons that made the souls of the dead fae cry out, demanding retribution for them by his hand.
