Can you remember a time where humans lived safely in the open? Neither can we... but that can change! A day when humans can live without fear of orcs, giants, or dragons? Swords and arrows only do so much against overwhelming odds. But through the fear of extinction breeds inventions, strength, power. 
The City in the mountains, the last stronghold of man. Through natural selection and luck the Humans and dwarfs of RockHold survive. Generations of living in rough conditions have adapted the population to be more hardy then the average man. Capable of great feats and amazing stamina. It is whispered by the people below....
"The men in the mountains... they will fight back... those men have the power to bring balance back to the world"
Enough whispers were heard to become rumour. Rumours were spread amongst slaves and the downtrodden. The Orcs soon heard of a city hidden high in the red Cliffs...
The council of RockHold knew it would be unable to hide away building strength for so long. The Orcs would come one day. Their numbers will break at the wall, but that wall will erode with each battle...
The council of RockHold gathered their finest soldiers, the most brilliant of RockHold's mages, and the most cunning hunters of the City, gathered the bravest of us for a mission.
It was suicide mission, almost everyone understood that. But the fearless band from RockHold may be enough to draw the orcs away from the mountain... The RockHold group may just hold the future of men in their hands.

Magic,
in this world all humans are born with the potential to use magic. This can range from anything like conjuring fire, controlling water, telekinesis etc.
While all humans can potentially use a magic it's only the type they are suited to. A brilliant mage cannot summon a tornado with one hand while forming a black hole with the other.
Orcs are capable of magic, they are either born with it or acquire it from rituals or other ways (eating magical creatures like fairys or dragons for example)
RockHold,
Basically a hidden city at the top of a mountain, it houses most of its population in the mountain which dwarfs from a ancient time were said to have carved tunnels and homes. The council runs RockHold,
The mages and warriors are in charge of defense and law within RockHold, taking orders from the council.
the hunters make trips off the mountain to bring back food.
Rockhold is the last free city as most human settlements have fallen to orc kind.
Other cities forts and villages are about but they are a fair way from RockHold and are either in ruin/taken over or on the way to that.
Races,
I'm open to most but if I find it to much I shall nerf original races.
But yea elves hobbits dwarfs lizardmen humans, most everything is allowed.
Elves are almost extinct and the only race capable of multiple types of magic.
Orcs.
The first orcs were created by elves, using magic to corrupt other races with animals. Humans dwarfs beastkin, all were seen as inferior and suitable only as soldiers for the superior race. The Orcs soon outnumbered the elves though, as orcs can reproduce with any female creature with a womb. After the horrible act is done it only takes days for a newborn orc to eat it's way out of its mother and grow up to be a man sized monster.
The newborn orc takes on traits from it's mother, so if a orc raped a wolf, the newborn orc would be more feral with teeth and hair similar to a wolf.
If it was a elf, they would have a chance of being able to control magic.
