Flare gun is how the Winchesters did it, but a flamethrower would be my choice. Gasoline isn't a cool way to take one out, and silver is always just a backup.

I wanted to douse the den with gas while it was out hunting. Then light it when it was back. Flame thrower I think would be the best way. Higher chance of hitting.
