Foundations Redux (Rebirth of Brilliance)

Ailera is a simple one to explain. It is quite likely that someone has hired her to eliminate somebody or steal something of import.

With so many of the Solar Exalted in one place, it seems reasonable that we have decided to begin carving out a new empire of our own, and for one reason or another, we have selected this place to begin.

If Samira had heard of a gathering place for artisans to meet, that is being corrupted, she would have done her best to convince the rest to go and investigate, and try to purify it. Artisans are to be cherished, in her mind, for some odd reason...

To answer why the group is there, we need to know why the group is together. Do we have a shared goal? Are we just hanging out for protection from the Wyld Hunt and any other enemies we might have?

Suhiko would like some of those riches to bankroll her plans to take back the Realm, and is generally in favor of building power and slaying evil.

Perhaps it would be better to do character introductions first?

So, tell us who you are and a little about yourself.

Suhiko is the youngest granddaughter of the Empress, and though she does everything in her power to not advertise this fact, she is undeniably a striking, young Dynast who carries herself with the easy confidence of someone who has known all her life that she was born to do great things.

She dresses like a soldier and carries a finely crafted blade at her side, and a suspiciously daiklave-shaped package wrapped in oilcloth on her back. She is interested in meeting other Exalted and forging friendships and alliances she will be able to call upon when the time comes for her to return to the Realm and put things in order, if the civil war doesn't destroy everything before she has the chance.

Samira is a young singer, and dress maker, hailing from the south-east. Her parents had hoped her to attract the attention of a rich patron, but she had a wanderlust to her, wanting to see what's beyond the horizon. Using her singing to support herself, she traveled from place to place, looking for a meaning.
In her travels, she found rumors of a cave that amplifies songs, and had sought it. When she reached it, she was beset by a demon who blocked the entrance, and sought to make her its next meal, but then the light shone brightly, and she found a newfound purpose, strength, and the magic of the sun flowing through her, and defeated the demon.
She is seeking others like her, in the hopes of building a better world. She doesn't enjoy fighting, but is adept at it, and prefers to find a more peaceful solution if possible.
Her quest is to bring song and peace to the world, and it is in the pursuit of this that she learns things, like Sorcery.

Ailera Keiorin was raised from a very young age to be a killer. Taught to master the exotic dance moves of the Dreaming Pearl Courtesan Style to the best degree that a mortal can, Ailera was to use seduction to get to the target, using any and all means to get them off guard before driving home a hidden dagger, pouring the poison, or using the garrote. She became quite good at what she did, and as a member of the Hundred Serpents Nest, she became quite wealthy and well known in her cover identity as a dancer. Ailera was then approached to kill once more, this time a much harder target than she had ever faced before. Planning on using the same tried and true methods to get close to her mark, she first spent time watching and learning more and more about V'neef Suhiko.

A growing seed of doubt began to eat at her, making Ailera question for the first time what she was about to do. Why was this woman set to be killed? Putting that aside, she continues to go on with her plan to end V'neef Suhiko. It was working well; too well, actually. Ailera found herself falling in love with the other woman, and could not bring herself to finish the work she was sent to do. In a moment of tears, she confesses all to her lover, begging her to run away with her and escape. Grabbing a few belongings, they set off in the night.

But the Hundred Serpents Nest was not done with either of them. Another set of assassins were set out, this time to kill them both. Ailera was willing to sacrifice herself to face off against the two in order to buy time for Suhiko to get away when she saw the light - literally. Taking her Second Breath as a Solar, Ailera was gifted with the true measure of what the Dreaming Pearl Courtesan Style has to offer. Using her newly found powers, she now tries to repent for the lives she has taken in the course of her career.

I haven't been getting alerts for some reason. Kvau is basically a Twilight Sorcerer who's looking to exert control over the region and use it to further his plans. He's cautious, cutthroat and prefers to stay in the background.

Not the most elaborate of backstories, sure, but it serves it's purpose.

Yssun was part of a guerrilla art collective, their satirical work was responsible for undermining the authority of a local satrap in Sihqe.
The satrap got pissed, found them and had their lair burned, with them inside.
Only Yssun survived, by grace of the Unconquered Sun, but she is left scarred in body (her face is disfigured) and mind (she feels guilty and unworthy of having survived).

She doesn't know what she is up to.
She doesn't know why the Unconquered Sun choose her.
So when she heard of other Anathema, she quickly found them.
Maybe through them she will find the answers she seeks.
